The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There was a definite chill in the air. Not cold, but enough of a warning that California-like temperatures in New York would be fading soon.
Allegra still wasn't about ready to admit that. She dressed for the summer wearing just running shorts and a bright blue sports bra. She flew the park with her 'babies' beside her. Her babies were a white Shih Tzu with light gray mask and ears and a black shaved Brussels Griffin. Once Allegra got in her running zone, she didn't even notice the breeze was blowing stronger and that the weather was quickly getting colder. She was just content and one with nature.
That was until her two dogs immediately bolted to the right, nearly giving Allegra whiplash. They then started growling and yipping in unison.
"Hey you two! What's up?" she asked. Her puppies were usually so well behaved and ignored everything while they were running. No barking at other dogs or chasing squirrels up trees. What got their attention now?
Allegra saw an adorable little chihuahua probably digging up a bone. Her two dogs seemed to think they were face to face with Cujo.
"Enough!" Allegra ordered. "He's even smaller than you two, so relax." Allegra walked over to the chihuahua while her two dogs whimpered. The Shih Tzu barked out a warning. Allegra just turned back and scolded her dogs with a loud shhhhhh.
"Hello there," Allegra said to the chihuahua as she bent down to pet him under the ears. "What are you doing here all alone? Where's your mommy or daddy?"

Allegra wasn't expecting another mutant lecture. Charlie seemed so normal. There was no way she could be a mutant, could she?
"I didn't mean that," Allegra insisted. "I don't have anything against mutants. In fact, I'm a muta....... I mean, I have good friends that are mutants." She wasn't quite sure she wanted to admit that just yet. Things were crazy enough already.
"Of course I trust you," Allegra said. "I was just a little freaked. I'm still a little freaked."
Then Charlie shouted at her and Allegra became ultimately completely freaked.
”Shut up. Shut the f*** up, you f****** pervert, Is this some sort of joke to you? Is reliving my memories some sort of twisted pleasure?”
"What?" Allegra cried. "I don't know what you're talking about. First, they can't be your memories. The things I saw happened a long time ago. Like a real long time ago. Like the Dark Ages or something." Allegra didn't care much for history but she figured any time period where everyone dressed in top hats and corsets while actually enjoying classical music had to be the Dark Ages.
"Second, I have no idea what just happened," she insisted. "It had to have been that damned mutie..... I mean DJ. He made me think and see things that I thought were completely real. He probably did the same to you. Take a deep breath and think about it for a second. We were like on some freaky acid trip and hallucinating. But it's not real. The body of.....Iris is gone," Allegra said struggling to remember Iris' name. Even that was fading like a bad dream.
"I just know I'm really scared and I want to get out of here and I need you with me. Please, let's go someplace more quiet and sort this out. Somewhere far away from that DJ freak."

"I would feel better," Allegra said. "I'll even go see the doctor with you." She was obviously worried as well as feeling more than a little guilty for killing him.
"I'm from Cincinnati," Doug said sipping his smoothie. "New York is much more impressive. So Allegra, where are you from."
"Beverly Hills," she answered. "So what's your gay friend like?" she asked.
Doug frowned. He was hoping Allegra would show more interest in him than in getting a date for Derek.
"I loved your dating profile," Allegra said to Derek. "Who took that picture of you with the rose? I love it."

Oh god! She totally blew it.
"I'm sorry," she said. "Look, I know I don't know a whole lot about other countries and geography and maps and that kind of thing," she said. "I flunked Geography because I didn't know where Istanbul or Timbuktu are but if I wanted to go there, I'd just get a plane ticket. I don't know much about Colombia but I'd like to learn and I'd like to know more about you."
She sighed. "I'll admit I'm not into a lot of my classes but I'm a good person. I don't care much about Geography or Geometry or any of that, but I do care about people. I'd like for us to be friends. But if you think I'm too shallow because I'm not much of an intellectual, I get it. But I hope you'd want to learn more about me too."

Allegra had to agree with Ambrosia. She too tried to see the best in people but these were dangerous times especially where mutants and those that hated them were concerned.
"I don't go through life afraid but you have to be careful," Allegra said. "Lots of people think bad things about mutants so why would you want to advertise it?" Allegra knew that was kind of the equivalent of staying in the closet but being a mutant was different from being gay or something like that. Being a mutant was kind of like being a monster, at least as Allegra saw it.
"Vicious fire breathing.......??" Allegra was a little stunned. Even a cat-sized dragon was a little scary. "What exactly does non-burney fire do?" she asked. "I thought fire burnt stuff. That's what made it fire, right? Um, do you have dragon wings? Can you fly?"
Then came the part of mutant conversations that Allegra hated. What could she do?
"Oh, I just mess up mutant DNA and give people random powers," she said under her breath. "For instance I killed a good friend for about 10 seconds and turned him into a girl. Non-burney fire power is much better."
The salesperson walked over to them to see if they needed help. Allegra just assumed she was listening in on their conversation. "We're practicing for a play!" Allegra blurted. "That's it! Honest!"
"Sorry," the salesperson said. "I just wanted to know if you needed help finding anything. I'll be over there if you do. Good luck with the play."
Now Allegra was completely embarrassed. "Sorry," she said to Ambrosia. "I bet you feel I'm some first class spaz. I'm not. It's just......" Allegra did not want to go into her feelings about mutants right now. "Hey! This top would look adorable on you," she said changing the subject. Yes, time to start acting normal.
That lasted about three seconds when Allegra's new friend explained she came from the rift. Allegra flinched and backed away. "What?" she asked. She had heard about the rift but didn't follow the news much. There were different theories she had heard. The rift people were anti-matter and you would explode if you came in contact with them. They were evil versions of people. They were spies from another dimension planning to take over the planet.
“Hey, do you think I could borrow your chemistry notes and how would you like to go out with me sometime?”
Allegra had practiced many much cooler lines but that was the one that that came out. She didn’t even remember saying it. She just remembered how amazed she was when Andy said yes.
They both loved the beach so it seemed the perfect date location. Allegra prepared a cooler with various drinks and vegan snacks. She hoped Andy wouldn’t mind the lack of meat.
Allegra always agonized over what to wear but this was worse than normal. It was her first real date. She opted for her favorite bikini covered by a pair of denim shorts and a white T-shirt that said ‘The Beach Is My Happy Place.’ A pair of sandals and sunglasses completed the ensemble. That was easy.
Calming the butterflies was harder. Allegra had very little dating experience and she had never asked anyone out. Honestly, she was the type that felt the guy should ask the girl but her best friend Emma talked her into just going for it.
Allegra called a limo to take them to their destination. Allegra didn’t want to flaunt her family’s money but she wanted to take them there in style. She was nervous on the way there and just made some small talk. She’d normally talk a mile a minute but around guys she liked, she quieted up and had to force herself to talk. She hoped her nervousness wasn’t making him nervous.
Thankfully they arrived at their destination quickly. Allegra chose this location because it was so close and relatively deserted. It was an unseasonably warm day but there wasn’t anyone else for quite a few yards. Score!
The limo driver got the cooler from the trunk for the couple. “So what do you think?” Allegra asked.

Allegra was so nervous now. Ignacio probably thought she was some ditzy blonde. She really wasn't, but it was fair to say that she didn't pay attention in the classes she wasn't interested in. Geography was certainly one of them.
But she did suddenly remember a glimmer of something she learned in class. "District of Colombia! That's Washington D.C." she said knowingly. "Did you know Donald Trump?" Awesome! That was a smart thing to say. Now he wouldn't think she was a complete idiot.
"You are special," she said. "Of course I want to learn about your culture and all about you."

"That's very cool," Allegra said. She really didn't see Doug as Derek's type anyway so hopefully his friend would be cuter.
"Derek is such a sweetheart," Allegra told Doug. "And obviously sizzling hot. Your friend would be so lucky to go out with him. Smoothie?"
Doug took the smoothie but Allegra was still concerned for her friend and didn't notice the blue mutant checking her out.
"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked holding her palm on Derek's forehead to make sure he didn't have a fever. She really didn't know what kind of symptoms she was looking for with someone who had just returned from the dead but she was worried about him. "No fever but I think you should see DocProf later today just in case. You did just die. Did I tell you how totally sorry I am for that."
"Um....Allegra," Doug said nervously but she was obviously more concerned about Derek.

Allegra held tight to Charlie to steady herself as much as support her friend. Her brain was still zipping back and forth between reality and what-might-have-been. It was hard to stand steady let alone think.
“This concert totally sucks,” Allegra said. She was trying to make a joke but she was breathing as heavily as Charlie.
“Are you okay?" she asked Charlie. The poor girl looked like she had seen a ghost or two. "This is why mutants cannot be trusted!" Allegra shouted pointing at the DJ. "What the hell just happened?” Allegra didn't like to make controversial statements but she was so tired of being a mutant and having to hold her tongue when she just wanted to say how dangerous they could be. And this DJ was dangerous.
Allegra looked back at the dancers as they slowly stumbled away. They all looked like zombies. Allegra could not believe she let herself be roped into this. Yes, she wanted to be fearless and adventurous but maybe she should have just stayed in today and watched TV.
Then there was the dead body. Everyone else was walking around like it didn’t even exist. Allegra thought she even saw someone walk THROUGH it. But if Charlie saw it too, then it couldn’t be a hallucination.
“Yes, I know her. I kind of more than just know her,” Allegra said hesitantly. Allegra wasn't into girls but the memories that wandered into her brain said otherwise. “Her name was Iris. My husband, James, was off fighting so I had the chance to do what a wanted and see who I wanted. I’d meet Iris in the basement of the furniture shop her husband owned and we’d…..well, you know. But James found us and he shot us.”
Allegra turned to look at ‘Iris’ again but the body was gone. And now Charlie’s memories that had wormed their way into Allegra’s head while they were dancing quickly faded like a bad dream as well.
“What?” Allegra asked. She had a lingering image of a dark basement but even that was slowly starting to fade.
“I don’t know what I was talking about,” she said. “It had to have been one of those things the mutie DJ put in in my head. But, you saw the dead body too, right? I’m not crazy, am I?”

Allegra stared at the malachite katana. “Have you ever used that to… hurt someone?” she asked in a nervous voice that trailed off. She meant to say 'kill someone' but that wasn't really the conversation you had with someone you just met.
Allegra didn’t need an allowance and was offended at the suggestion that she did. The idea of special needs mutants did seem like a good point though. “I don’t know about gold but I’ve got a friend with an incredible metabolism so she has to eat all the time. Must cost the school a fortune in grocery bills. I should have told them I need diamonds in order to live. I wonder if it’s too late.”
“It takes a special kind of person to put their life on the line like that,” Allegra said. “What made you decide to make that kind of sacrifice. I like to think I’m a really generous person but I could never be a cop and worry about getting killed all the time.”
“Feeding pigs sounds more dangerous than being a cop,” Allegra laughed when Alex explained how he found himself in such a dangerous situation. It probably wasn't funny at the time but Allegra was getting a laugh at the thought of him being attacked by Mama Pig. "When Bacon Strikes Back."
“Oh yeah! Peanut butter and bananas are yum!” Allegra said. Ruddy didn’t seem convinced but he was the type that would try anything. “Grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches are awesome. I think Elvis used to eat them.”
Allegra was curious how Alex got a recommendation from the head of the FBI. She didn’t want to interrupt the unorthodox interview so she walked her dirty dishes over to the sink, stopping to look over Ruddy’s shoulder on the way. It was pretty obvious what she was doing but she had to find out.
Allegra laughed at the commode line. “See, he’s thinking about cleaning toilets before he even has the job,” she said to Ruddy. “You gotta hire him.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Ms. Chief,” Lilly said sweetly. “I just saw Allegra almost kill herself going down the ladder and I was looking for you so you could help her and make sure she doesn’t get hurt. I’m heading to my room now that I know she’s safe and you have everything under control.”
“Hey! What the fu….” Lilly shouted when Jack took away her phone. She almost cursed at the giant prawn but caught herself and smiled innocently with puppy dog eyes.
“Why would Headmaster Kipperling want to see me for?” Lilly asked. “He really doesn’t need to congratulate me for helping out. I don't need thanks. When I saw Allegra put that ladder up, I just knew something was wrong and I had to step in.”
“I didn’t put there ladder there,” Allegra protested. “I couldn’t even lift it anyway.”
“Now stop lying, rich girl,” Lilly reprimanded. “You forget that there are cameras everywhere. I’m sure they got one of you putting the ladder by that window so you could sneak out later tonight.” It was of course Lilly using her mutant power to take Allegra’s form so she could get the girl into even more trouble.
“I didn’t do anything,” Allegra cried. “Honest.”
“Lying again?” Lilly said staring at Allegra as if she was something she had just scraped off her shoe. “Just like you didn't try to sneak out, hmmm? Do yourself a favor and just shut up and listen to Ms. Chief.”
Lilly then looked up at Jack and smiled. “My work is done here. I see you have this completely taken care of like always. I feel so much safer with you here. I’ll go to my room now. Good night.”
Allegra’s shoulders slumped in defeat and she just stared down at the ground. “Okay, let’s go. Sign me up for detention. Or burn me at the stake. I don’t care. I’m done arguing.”
Allegra followed Chief. “Why is everyone so mean to me here,” she cried. “All I wanted to do was to be Lilly’s friend. It seems like half this school hates me. I was so popular at my other school. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.”
Allegra sighed. “But thank you for deleting that picture. I couldn’t live with myself if that got around the school. I know I’ve kind of been a brat and you didn’t have to do that, so thank you.”
"Swordplay?"Allegra asked. "Is that.... playing with swords? Real swords?" Sometimes she wasn't too quick on the uptake. "I think I'd stick with the bungees, myself."
"Sure, not everyone can hire help but this place can," Allegra said. "You've seen how huge it is. Whoever is running this place is loaded. They should pay to get someone to cook and clean so I don't feel like I'm doing slave labor. No, there is nothing satisfying about slave labor."
Allegra could see that thinking about his old law enforcement job brought up a lot for him. "I don't think I could ever do a job like that,"Allegra said. "I can't imagine what it's like to put your life on the line every day and see your friends do the same thing. I'd rather be sweeping the floors too. I just gotta say that I think you're really brave having done a job like that. I mean for whatever that's worth. I'm sorry if you've seen some really bad things or lost someone close to you."
"OMG! You are the first person I've talked to that knows pigs don't actually sweat," Allegra said. "I'm a big animal lover so I know a lot of things about them. I would have loved to have been around pigs and cows and even sheep when I was a kid. I even wanted to live in Kansas after seeing the Wizard of Oz. I thought if I lived there, a tornado would come and take me to see Glenda the good witch. I was kind of a crazy kid."
"One orange coming up," Allegra offered when Dr. Kippering walked in. He had snuck up on Allegra as well.
"Even better, apples and peanut butter," Allegra said. She grabbed an apple and a corer. "You both gotta try it. It's awesome together."
Allegra liked how Ruddy related to the students. He didn't look down on them and she felt honored that he was asking her for her opinion.
"Yes, sir. Definitely," she said. "He's got my glowing recommendation. And not just because I don't want to do any of the cleaning around here."
