The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"We did NOT know what we were getting into!" Allegra shot back. "If we did, then we wouldn't have gotten into it. This guy cannot legal talk to us like that. My mom knows plenty of lawyers." The last part was more of a threat to the orange ogre than a reply to Charlie. Unlike the older woman, Allegra expected people to treat each other with respect and concern.
”Are you doing that? You need to calm the f*** down. Right. Now.”
"Am I doing what?" Allegra demanded. It was like when someone tells you to calm down when you're upset. It usually just makes you angrier. Allegra didn't notice what she was doing until it was too late.
The red glow covered the ogre and then he transformed into what looked close to a cartoon of himself.. His large eyes looked almost like fried eggs with a his black pupils as the yolk. His flat mouth moved but without a moving tongue it was impossible to understand what he was saying.
Worst of all, he was completely flat and almost two dimensional. He looked like he had been been drawn and cut out on a large piece of paper. His fingers fluttered in the breeze like paper fans. He tried to stand but his two dimensional feet were not enough to keep him balanced. The wind blew threatening to carry him away. He wrapped his arm around Charlie's to keep from being whisked up to the sky. In doing so, he suffered a rip on the crease of his right elbow. Blood red pieces of confetti flew out of the tear.
The DJ noticed this and turned his full attention to Allegra and Charlie. In doing so, he stopped his hypnotic concert. It would be fair to say it was like a puppeteer cutting his puppets' strings though only a few of the dancers actually fell down. Most just had looks of complete shock and they ambled silently like zombies trying to reclaim an experience that was now quickly fading from their minds.
Allegra's brain was now assaulted by a barrage of painful memories. Her sister's death. Her parents divorce. The memory of her uncle attempting to rape her that she had suppressed. And all the heartaches and pains both great and small that naturally come as part of life. These memories were all magnified and intensified until they literally screamed to bash their way out of Allegra's head.
Allegra fell crying to the ground and curled up in a fetal position. She wished she could be dead just like Iris. Anything but this.
Allegra tried to read Andy's reaction. He was smiling. That was good. She hoped some of that had to do with her.
Her limo driver laid out a blanket and carried the cooler over at Allegra's command. He assured her that all she had to do was call or text and he'd be ready to take them back. For now, he would leave the young couple alone. Yikes! Allegra hoped Andy didn't realize how nervous she was.
“I like you,”
That made Allegra grin from ear to ear. "I was actually talking about the beach spot, but I'm so happy to hear that." She brushed her hand lightly on his arm. "I really like you too." God, he was hot!
"So do you want a quick drink and a small snack before we hit the waves?" she asked. She loved swimming but was actually more into lazing on the beach. She'd be up for whatever Andy was, but she hoped they'd get a little time to talk.
She opened the cooler. "We got a bunch of stuff. Just no alcohol or meat. I'm vegan and I don't really drink." Best to get both those things out in the open. For some people, those might be deal breakers especially the drinking part if Andy happened to be a big partier. Allegra loved to party and socialize, but with an alcoholic mom, beer and booze weren't high on her list. "Please help yourself."
"God it's so beautiful here. It's hard to believe fall and winter will be here soon. I wish it was summer all the time and I could spend every day at the beach. How about you?"
"I hate gossip!" Allegra shouted, louder than she had planned. "I don't care if high schools since the days of the cavemen were full of gossip. It's awful and it's mean and I just know everyone is talking about me and it really hurts."
Jack shot Allegra a look and Allegra wasn't able to interpret the prawn's facial patterns well enough to know if this was a 'you've got to be kidding' me look or a 'I would really like to eat you for a midnight snack' look. Either way, Allegra didn't care for it much.
"Hard to nake s'riends when you 'can't 'e seen wiss' hal-s uzz duh student 'ody, es'ecially in a snall school like diss..."
Allegra really didn't have a good argument to that one. Jack was pretty much right with this one.
"I know I should be more accepting but......" Allegra sighed. "You know that I'm not mean to anyone, right? I just don't hang out with certain people." Oh god. That sounded bad didn't it.
"And that blue guy who I won't date. It's not just because he's blue. If he looked normal, I wouldn't date him either. He's a total dork."
But what if he had a great personality but he just looked a little less.... blue? Would Allegra still not want to go out with him? She was ashamed to admit that she probably wouldn't.
"I'm not an awful person!" Allegra repeated again. She didn't have time to protest anymore because they entered the security office. There was a new person. A normal looking guy. Allegra could try to talk her way out of punishment with him.
"None of this is my fault!" she told him. "I was...." Oh, who was she kidding. She tried to sneak out and got caught.
"I was the reason Mr. Jack got delayed," Allegra admitted, She still thought Jack was a guy or at least a male giant shrimp. "I tried to sneak out. I broke the rules. Then I was really rude to Mr. Jack about it. It was all my fault and then I acted like a big brat. I have nothing to say but I was wrong and I'm sorry. And it won't happen again."
She turned to look up at Jack. "I really am sorry," she said.
Allegra was frightened. This was just too bizarre for her. Unlike Charlie, Allegra’s life was pretty sheltered and mutants that could yank memories out of your mind were not part of her game plan. She had come to dance and have a good time. Not witness dead bodies.
If Charlie hadn't been with her, Allegra would have probably started screaming a long time ago. Even after the older woman’s outburst, Allegra still wanted to help her. She saw the tears rolling down Charlie’s cheeks and Allegra knew the poor girl was really hurting. She obviously didn't witnessed a brutal murder of someone close to her but she thought she did. This psycho DJ could make things hurt like they were the real thing and Allegra couldn't stand to see anyone in pain like that.
That’s why Allegra followed her towards the trees. She felt responsible for Charlie somehow after having just relived her memories as well. She didn't want to barge in on Charlie's space so she let the older girl speak first.
”Those were my memories you were seeing,”I’m not as young as I look. Not by a longshot.”
Allegra stood at a distance from Charlie. She wanted to hug the girl but something about her did not seem like the hugging type.
“Charlie, none of this was real,” Allegra said. “There’s no way you could have lived those memories. Not unless you’re a vampire.”
Or a mutant.
“Oh,” Allegra said as the truth finally hit her. She could be a bit slow on the uptake but seeing the expression on Charlie’s face told Allegra that the reason Charlie believed everything was because it was all true.
“Hey, it was a long time ago and it’s over now,” Allegra said softly. “I’m sorry you had to go through that once. I can’t even imagine that, let alone having to go through it again. But it’s over. Were outside in the sunshine in 2017 at a dance festival. None of that can come back to hurt you.”
Before Charlie had a chance to speak, the large orange ogre mutant lumbered over to the pair.
“Just a reminder that you wants ta get yer belongings before you leave,” he said. “Also ya signed a waiver dat means any injuries either physical or psychological is our fault so ya can’t sue us.”
Allegra was now past the boiling point. She had just gone through possibly the worst experience of her life and she had to watch a friend go through it as well. It was bad enough that this kind of thing was allowed to exist, but the way that this creep didn't seem to care was beyond belief.
"My friend just went through hell because of that creepy mindtrip and all you can care about is if we're going to sue you?"
"Well, yeah," he answered.
"I don't care what I signed. You mutie freaks are not going to get away with this!" Allegra shrieked. She was now glowing bright green and a dull red glow surrounded the ogre. Allegra obviously had no idea what she was doing or what was going on. She was too wrapped up in her anger.
Allegra listened to Alex' suggestion to figure out how to put her powers for good. That seemed easy for him. His power actually seemed pretty useful. At the very least, he could use his gemstone construct thingies to change the channel if he ever lost the remote. Allegra's didn't have too many practical applications.
"I really can't think of any good use for mine," she said. "I never know what's gonna happen after I use them. I could end up killing someone or turning them into a turnip or god knows what."
She looked up to Ruddy to see if he had any better ideas. Sure there were mutants with even worse powers, but Allegra still felt ripped off in the mutant lottery.
"I think I'd love a pig as a pet," she said. "When I was younger I had a pony." Allegra was a bit embarrassed for admitting that. Every little girl wants a pony. Allegra was one of the few that actually got one. There were enough people around here that thought she was spoiled. Best not to admit stuff like that. "So did you ever have a pig or anything unusual for a pet?" She directed the question at both of them. Ruddy probably only had unusual pets.
"If I don't have to do as much cleaning anymore, I'll listen to horrible puns all day," Allegra said. It was more than a fair trade.
Douglas seemed relieved when Derek asked him what he could do. Finally a chance to show off! "Well, I am all temperatures. Watch this."
His color changed from blue to ice white and a chill colder than the frozen smoothies breezed around the trio.
"What the hell!" Allegra shouted as she hugged herself to try to ward off the cold. "You do see me just wearing a bikini, right? What makes you think January is a good idea?"
"I'm sorry my lady. Perhaps you will like this better," Douglas suggested as he shifted from white to blue to fiery red. "Ta-daa! Instant heat wave," he announced. He extended his arms like a rising sun but his scorching hand almost brushed Allegra's face. Even though her face was saved from disaster, being near it gave her cheek the equivalent of a bad sunburn.
"Ow!" she shrieked. "What are you doing? You almost torched me. Ow again!" She felt the right side of her face which was now slowly simmering like a sunburn. "No amount of lotion is going to help this. I'm going to have flake face for days!"
"I'm sorry," Douglas said as he shifted back to blue. "I didn't mean to..."
"This isn't show and tell!" Allegra shouted at him. "You have dangerous powers that could seriously hurt someone! You can't just flaunt them like that. What the hell were you thinking! Please just go away. Now!"
Later Allegra would stop to think about her reaction and feel bad for snapping at him so fiercely. It all had to do with how guilty she felt about 'killing' Derek by doing pretty much the same thing with her own powers. But right now, she was just full-on furious.
Douglas just stared at the ground. He had really screwed up any chance with her now.
"Oh poor puppy! Don't be scared," Allegra said. She stroked the dog gently. "I know this place is scary but it's going to be okay. We're going to find your real mommy and daddy. I've texted my friend, Derek. I'll have him come talk to you. Then he will be able to ask you where you live and we'll take you back home."
"But until then, you are my special guest." She scooped the small dog up and carried him up to her room. "Here, just lay there on my bed and I'll find you some good doggie treats. I bet you're starved. Don't worry. I've got really good stuff."
She hoped he would like these. He did turn his nose at the champagne glass. She also hoped she didn't mind she left her door open. She tried to keep it open as much as possible in case someone decided to stop by.
I apologize for being AWOL. I've got hit with a nasty flu and all I've been doing is sleeping without much energy for posting. Or perhaps it's the zombie virus. It could be either one.
Anyway, I hope to be motivated to post in the next couple days and I apologize for anyone I've held up.
Unless it is the zombie virus. In which case, please feel free to visit me with your yummy brains.

"Awwww!" Allegra cooed when the chihuahua started relaxing and wagging his tail. She scratched his stomach and gushed about how cute he was.
Allegra's two dogs did not agree. They were now growling and observing every move the little dog made. There was something just not right about him. Not right at all.
"You two hush!" Allegra ordered as she scooped up the tiny chihuahua. She rubbed her nose against his. "You're just a-dog-able aren't you? Yes, you are! Yes, you are! Look at those pretty blue eyes. OMG!"
She cradled the dog and walked out of the park with her two disgruntled dogs trailing behind her. The white one kept trying to make eye contact with the newcomer and growling whenever their eyes met.
They finally made their way to the edge of the park where a limo was waiting. The impeccably dressed driver smiled when he saw them coming. "Picking up strays, Ms. Avers?"
"I'm sure he belongs to someone, James," Allegra answered. "But I'm gonna keep him til we find out where his home is? Do you think you could keep Chocolate and Sparkle up front with you? They don't seem to like him much. Just jealous I think. Hey, what should I name him?"
James took a look at the dog as he opened the door for Allegra. "He looks like a Jay to me, Ms. Avers."
"Okay, Jay it is then," she smiled as she slid into the spacious back seat. Chocolate and Sparkle whimpered having to be up front leaving Allegra alone in back with the 'enemy.'
"Okay," Allegra said as she grabbed a champagne glass. The pushed a lever and dog food spilled into it. "Here you go, Jay. Eat up. I'm gonna text Derek to see if he wants to stop by and meet us. You'll really like him. All animals do. Bark if you need anything."
Soon, the limo pulled in front of the mansion. "Yep, Xavier's school," Allegra said to Jay. "Mmm-hmmm. It's the mutant school. Don't worry. I won't let any mean mutants hurt you. I promise."
James opened the door for Allegra and then let the other two dogs out. "James, if you could just take Chocolate and Sparkle inside," Allegra ordered before turning to the chihuahua . "Did you want to go in too, Jay or do you want to run around a bit."

“They should bring back the stake for certain witches,” Allegra said. “I know someone who deserves it.” She looked in Lilly’s direction as the girl walked off and hoped Jack would agree.
“I’ve met some really good friends here but I wish I had more. I was so popular back at my other school,” Allegra said. “I just don’t feel like I fit in here. People here are just so different from back home. I haven't found a lot of people that are interested in the same stuff I am. That's why I thought me and Lilly would be good friends. I just want to be a normal girl and I’m so tired of having to explain what my mutant power is because my power is totally lame. I bet people here look down at me because I don't have an awesome power. Do you think people talk behind my back? You're security, so you must know stuff. Have you ever heard anyone say bad things about me? Could you let me know who?"
Allegra thought about what Jack said about giving the freaky looking kids a chance. “I would never be mean to anyone because of how they look,” Allegra said. “But I can’t see me being friends with someone that looks like….” Allegra was going to say someone that looks like Jack but decided not to. “I mean, what are people going to think if I’m hanging out with someone who obviously looks like a mutant? It’s one thing to support mutant rights, but it’s quite another to be seen with one. I had a blue skinned guy try to ask me out. I’m not racist or anything but how would it look if I dated a bright blue guy? What would people say? What would I tell my friends? What if we decided to have kids some day? I don’t want a blue skinned baby.”
“Again, I’m not against blue people. You’re kind of blue. Well, parts of you. And blue's fine. People should be whatever color they are and look however they
look. I totally support that. It’s just that my life is different and it doesn't fit in with that. Does that make sense?”
Allegra was always the type that defended people and tried to accept them. She even went so far as to befriend a couple nerds here which was something she'd never do at her old school. She was becoming more accepting but when she listened to her own words, she wondered if she was an awful person.

Allegra could hear the pain in Alex' voice. "Hey, I had a hard time when I first discovered my power too," she said. "The first time really freaked me out. The guy was a jerk but I could have seriously hurt him. The second time I kind of killed a good friend. Just for a few seconds but he was dead. He's perfectly fine but I'm still not sure I can forgive myself."
"Greed?" Allegra laughed. "I'm not talking about greed. I'm just talking about stuff I rightfully deserve." She was joking but there was a bit of truth in it. Allegra could be more than a little entitled.
"Oh pigs are adorable!" Allegra said. "I could never eat one ever."
She just smiled when Alex mentioned Star Wars. She'd have to talk to her geek friend,Alice, about that because she didn't understand Star Wars at all. All she knew was that there were Klingons in Star Wars. Klingons were monsters that had their own language that nerds tried to learn. Nerds also often dressed up as the monsters and would say things like "May the Force Be With You" in Klingon. Allegra didn't even know what that meant in English.
"Attack of the Swines. That's funny," Allegra said with a forced laugh because she didn't want Alex to think she didn't get the joke.
Allegra stopped trying to look over Alex' shoulder when he mentioned that his wife and child got caught in the crossfire. Allegra didn't know all the sacrifices and loss he had experienced. Now she was starting to learn.
Thankfully the mood got lighter and turned back to Alex' potential employment. "Interviews do suck but I think he's a great candidate, huh?" she asked Ruddy. "I can't think of anyone better, can you?"

Allegra could see the Chihuahua was tense. It may have had something to do with her dogs barking or perhaps he was scared because he was all alone. Allegra didn’t see a collar on him so she figured he probably shook it loose.
“Hey there baby, it’s okay,” she said in a soft calming voice. “My dogs bark way worse than they bite. They won’t hurt you.”
Allegra looked around for any sign of an owner but didn’t see anyone. This was most likely a lost dog. He had probably been missing for days.
“Can I pet you?” she asked him. “It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.”
As Allegra gently rubbed the Chihuahua’s head, her diamond tennis bracelet caught the sun and glittered right in front of the shape shifter’s eyes.
“You know, it’s very dangerous for such a little puppy to be out here all alone,” she said. “Why don’t I pick you up and take you home with me. Then we can make some posters and find your mommy and daddy. What do you think about that? I’ll take good care of you until we find who you belong to. You can talk to my friend Derek who speaks fluent dog-ese. How do you feel about that?”

Allegra breathed a sigh of relief. It would have bothered her for weeks if he decided that he didn't like her. The idea anyone not liking her was enough to make her break out in hives and stress out for the entire week. A cute boy not liking her made things ten times worse.
"Cool. So tell me more about yourself. What's one thing you really want to experience your first month here." She smiled. Talking about life stuff was easier for her than talking about school stuff. It was also, in her opinion, much more important.
