The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"That is your car?" Lily's jaw dropped as she saw which vehicle Alex was walking over to. She shook her head with a grin "No kidding." She put on her shoes too, although she quite enjoyed walking barefeet, she doubted that would go over well downtown. She looked at Alex as she sat in the car. She looked more cheerful already. That was the same for her: all kinds of little details helped her find her way back to normal life. Being able to drive her own car again must have been the same for Alex. Especially with a car like this one. "Ready, steady" she chuckled, closing the door "Let's go find a place to hide in plain sight."
“What have you been up to? I haven’t seen you since you got back?” There it was, the big question. Or, at least, one of those bigger ones. Lily knew it was coming, but she wasn't really prepared for it. She bit her lip, looking away, then back at him. "I... I guess I needed some time." she said finally "It was difficult to... settle into normal life again. I mostly slept." she added with a small smile "I'm fine now." Or at least as close to fine as she could get on her own. "So, what have you been up to?" she asked, hoping she wouldn't have to explain more. She smiled, a littl braver this time "Looking for the fanciest restaurant in New York City?"
The restaurant was a nice place. Elegant, and romantic, and somehow more lively than most fancy restaurants. Lily was used to places like this; unlike many people who rarely ever visited them, she felt quite at home. As a waiter led her to their table, she saw that there were a lot of couples around (and lots and lots of jewely of all kinds and shapes) - of course, Valentine's Day. She wondered what else Shawn had planned. He seemed to be taking the planning part seriously. As it could have been expected from a team leader of the X-men. Lily chuckled as she waited for him, resting her chin in her palm. She felt cheerful, something that she hadn't felt in a long time. She thought back at the days when dining in a fancy NewYork restaurant seemed like something distant, something that would never happen again. And yet, here she was. With Shawn, none the less.
Alex seemed to have taken the 'dress to impress' thing seriously. Lily grinned when she saw her friends, carrying her shoes in her hand just like she did. "I am impressed" she chuckled "Let's go." Before we wake someone up. “We call a cab or do we take my car?” She considered the choice for a long moment. There was a glint in Alex's eyes that said she preferred the latter option; with a fancy dress went a fancy car, no doubt. Lily was not really interested in cars, but somehow she could tell what was going through Alex's head. "Let's take the car." she nodded as she started walking towards the stairs. We can always take a cab on the way back. Or walk. "As for the where" she continued, once they were in the garage "Well, we could go to Evolution, but we might run into friends there, so I'd say..." she paused for a moment, then shrugged "Let's go find a bar."
“Out sounds good Lily. I missed having someone to talk to.” Lily watched her friend as she considered the offer. She hoped she'd choose to talk. Talking was just... more healthy. At east in her point of view. “Lemme take a shower, get dressed and stuff. And Lily, don’t tell anyone else I’m back. Not yet.” "I won't" she nodded, just as serious. Then she smiled again. Plans for a girls' night out were already forming in her head "I'll meet you at your room in half an hour." she told Alex as she walked to the door "Dress to impress." She said it in a tone that meant 'not to be argued with'. Because if there was something that could come close to cheering them up, it was being pretty.
True to her promise, Lily showed up at Alex's room half an hour later, wearing a dress and ready to go. She was holding her shoes in her hand since they would have made considerable noise, heels clacking down the corridor. It was past curfew. At least for the kids.
“You… did something to your hair." Lily chuckled "Yes, I did, but fortunately they could correct it." "Sorry. I sound awkward. It feels strange to be back.” "Don't worry about it" she shook her head with a smile "I know." She did. Strange was an understatement; she had been home for three months, and it still didn't feel the same. Maybe it never will. And if Alex just arrived... Lily sighed. "Do you want to be alone?" she asked. Sometimes it helped, she remembered that from the first few weeks "Or we could, you know, go out and talk." she added, with a smile, and looked around "You know, this is the first time I came down here since I got home... and with you gone, I didn't really have anyone to have a decent girl talk with." It sounded silly, but she meant it. Whether Alex needed time alone, or someone to talk to, she was ready to help her find her way back to normal life. As much as it was possible. And sometimes silly things did help to take one's mind off serious matters. Besides, their last night out ended quite well. All things considered...
It was Jewel's first visit to the Danger Room since they arrived home from Romania. It took months to deal with everything that had happened, and something that had 'danger' in its name didn't feel all that welcoming to her. But things got better, and she did too, and one morning Lily woke up with the feeling that she was ready to train again. She still wanted to be an X-man. So she scheduled some training time first thing in the morning. And when she returned in the evening, someone was already in there. She waited till whoever was inside ended the session, then walked in, ready to find some kids who were not even authorized to go in there. To her surprise, it was only one person. Looks like I am not the only one who needs to blow off some steam. "I'm sorry, but I think I've had... ALEX?" As soon as she saw the familiar face, Lily ran the rest of the way and pulled her friend into a hug. "You're back!" she smiled as she finally let her go "I missed you."
"You can talk to me about it Miss Jewel and, I'll listen and you can pet me and stuff if you want, it seems to calm people down when they are holding a little animal and talking about thier problems." Despite her mood, Lily laughed a little at the offer. Ruby was a nice girl, and ver ycute as a fox; she watched with curiosity as she morphed from one form to the other. Shifters have always fascinated her. "That's... very kind of you, Ruby." she smiled, scratching the fox hesitantly between the ears "I feel better already." After a few moments of hesitation, Lily picked the fox up and held her on her lap. She had never seen a fox so close, real or mutant. "You know... I haven't really talked about it yet. I don't... really know how I should do it." she mused.
Her appearance made the right effect on Shawn; Lily smiled a bit, the blush seemed to have settled in for a while. As he took her hand in his and kissed her on the cheek, she wondered why she had been avoiding his company for such a long time. She was feeling better already. "Yep, let's go." she nodded, picking up her coat as they walked to the door. She knew they had a lot to talk about; she could tell Shawn would have questions, and she had apologies to make, and there would be thoughts and memories shared, in due time. Right now, she was just enjoying her Valentine's Day surprise, and didn't want to ruin it with bringin up serious things. Besides, it was good to feel pretty for the first time in months.
Lily blinked as Shawn walked in. Valentine's Day? Oh boy. She completely forgot about that. Her cheeks turned deeper red as she looked at him for a moment, her mind trying to catch up with all the things, mainly Shawn marching into her room and announcing they were going out. Just like that. And she didn't even mind. "Sorry, I didn't get the note" she answered with a half smile "Give me ten minutes." When Lily said ten minutes, ten minutes it was. There was that popular belief that women took forever to get ready for a date - but it was only true for women who didn't have the routine and experience of a well-educated young lady. Lily disappeared in the bathroom ro dry her hair (and, again, contrary to popular belief, short hair needed more time to get right than long hair), then appeared again, rummaging around in her drawers and closet for clothes. Then she disappeared again. The next time she showed up, she was ready to go, wearing a dress and matching make-up of silver and gold. She tied her hair down with a thin ribbon, because she really had no idea what else to do with it. "So, how do I look?" she asked, more shy than usual, as she stood before him. Lily was not used to worrying about her appearance. She looked at Shawn, and smiled a bit; she had missed his company more than she realized. And now she was curious what he had planned for the day.
The worst of it was over. The cuts had healed, the bruises were gone; some of them left scars but none really bad. Lily finally worked up the energy to go and get a decent haircut; that stopped her silver and gold locks trying to grow in every possible direction. She gained some weight back; for the first time in months she didn't see an escaped prisoner when she looked into the mirror. She didn't realize what the date was, when someone knocked on her door. Days just seemed to flow by, for she didn't have anything important to do. She was alone, Callie had been gone for a while, who knows where she went. She really was wearing a bathrobe. She just got out of the shower; if her visitor arrived a few minutes earlier, she wouldn't have heard the knock. It was Shawn. "Hi" she shied away from the door, pulling the bathrobe tighter around herself. Her cheeks colored pink; she wasn't really ready to see him, for many reasons, but she found herself happy that he showed up at her door anyway. "Um... do you want to come in?" she asked, stepping aside. He was dressed like he was going somewhere. Lily found herself curious.
"It does fade after a while, though there will be times you wont be able to stop remembering," Lily nodded. Here she was, getting advice from a 14-year-old on something no one should ever experience, teenager or adult. She frowned again, the conversation was not exactly helping her mood, neither did it make it easier to deal with things. But Ruby was only trying to help her, and it was nice of the fox girl. "But, I cant blame myself for something like that happening in the past, because there is nothing I can do about it now." "It was not your fault to begin with" Lily shook her head "It was nobody's fault. Not on the mutant side, at least." she sighed "That's what makes it bad, isn't it. People didn't deserve it. Any of it." she mused "Not everyone got away as easy as I did."
Fourteen-year-old fox girls were hacking into the Mansion computers. So much about security. Lily smirked, amused by the thoughts. Wonder what Sam would say if I told him. Of course, she wouldn't want to get Ruby caught. She'll find another way to hint. "The American ones were the ones me and Emmy were in....they hurt a lot of people in those camps. It was almost a year ago, back when i was thirteen but I still remember everything." Lily's hand wandered to her own neck without her realizing it; the scar from the collar was gone, healed by the unicorn, but she could feel it all the same. Once in a while she even winced when a scarf or the collar of a shirt brushed against it. "Shawn told me about the camps..." she said quietly "Not much, though. I..." here it goes "I was there for a month. In Romania." she frowned "It's still freash, you know. It's gonna be okay in time." Or at least I really hope so. If a little girl can deal with it, so can I.
Lily stared at the girl as things started to register in her mind, one after another. Emerald. That sounded familiar. Wasn't that the wolf girl Shawn wanted to introduce her to, at the wedding? So, were-kids came in twos, from the looks of it. Right. Romania. How did she know about Romania? How many of the kids knew?... And how did she guess? Was it that obvious? I hope she's not a telepath. Slate was enough of that to last for a long time. "... what happened to us..." Us?... Ouch. "I... how..." she blinked, then shook her head, smiling a bit again "Yes, I... um, got back from Romania, not long ago. I'm..." she sighed "I am not sad, I just have to think about stuff." She glanced at the girl. "You... have been in the camps?" How old as she anyway?!
