The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kendra's tears tapered before finally coming to a stop. She didn't want to look at Artair. The embarrassment was there. Even if he was trying to tell her it was ok. She had let herself down. Kendra wanted to be back in her room. To cast out what she was feeling, but instead she forced herself to meet his gaze. "Thank you." She managed.
Kendra wasn't sure what life had in store for her. Honestly since she got to New York, she wasn't sure of much of anything. All she knew was that in her heart she strived to be a better person. She wanted to be better than the girl that left Georgia scared and alone. She wanted to be someone more self assured and someone who knew where there place in life was. She wasn't sure if she was ever going to find that.
Kendra's shoulders were still slumped as she wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her jacket. It had been a long while since she allowed herself to cry in front of anyone. She didn't even cry in front of her father. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction. It was a weird feeling for her to be vulnerable in front of someone. She felt like all her power had been stripped away. She felt human.... For the first time in a long time she felt human. Not in a sense that she not a mutant anymore. She simply felt connected in a way that made her realize that she needed people.
Her thoughts returned to Emily. She fought the urge to let her face turn down in a frown. She lost that fight miserably. She knew what he was saying was right. This wasn't the end of the world. Honestly she had been blocking this pain our so long that she was just overwhelmed in the moment. She needed to talk to someone more qualified than Artair. She needed to see one of the counselors in the mansion. She had already met one of them. Her name was Gemma and she was nice enough. Kendra supposed she could speak to her about what happened. She didn't know how much it would help, this talk had only made her feel worse.
Kendra was willing to try though. She was willing to do whatever it took to deal with what she had to deal with. She spent enough of her life afraid. Afraid of her father, afraid of love, afraid of the world and the hateful people in it. She wasn't going to let herself be afraid of healing too. Kendra looked at Artair for a moment. Her big brown eyes shrink wrapped in honest grief. A smile briefly fluttered to her face. He was so concerned about her. She didn't know why. He sometimes seemed to be appauled by her behavior, yet he still cared enough to try and open her eyes. "You're a good friend Art. A good man." It was simple and cliché, but it fit so well. It was all she had to say as she rested her head on his soft shoulder and sniffled a bit more.

Kendra took her photos. She had actually gotten some very amazing pictures. The skill at which she captured people was quite breathe taking. She had never seen herself as much of an artist, but others might disagree with her. She had a knack for truly capturing who a person was in a single moment. Her pictures seemed to say everything you needed to know about a person at a mere glance.
Derek's pictures showed a side that was kind and gentle, sweet, and loving. A person that couldn't lift a finger to hurt someone else. It wasn't in his nature. He was just a good person, and even the animals knew it. They trusted him, they flocked to him.
Kendra lowered her camera and smiled at Derek. "Thank that's enough. Got what I needed. You're a natural in front of a camera by the way. Let's get back I need to interview you for ma' article." Her compliment in her mind sounded cheesy. It sounded like a come on. Kendra wasn't flirting, though what she said did make her cheeks flush red. She darted her eyes to the ground as she began to walk out of the woods.
It sounded like something a photographer might tell a pretty face they were hoping to bed later. She was hoping he didn't get that impression. She mostly tried to avoid eye contact and kept her conversation to a minimum as they made it back to the mansion. It was going to be even more awkward after what came out of her mouth next. "Let's go up to my room so I can get to know you a little." Instantly she regreted it. Cheese and crackers Kendra! She scolded herself. She had a knack for putting her foot in her mouth as well it seemed. "I mean to say.... Like so we can talk and I can find out about'chur life." Nice save idiot. She thought grumpily. She needed to get to know more about him to write a good piece. Kendra had a feeling though that he would make a great cover story for the next issue. He just seemed so warm and genuine.

Kendra stared at him for a long moment. The cigarette between her fingers dropped to her side and hung there. Her mouth was a twisted expression of bottled up emotion. Her eyes softened and her tough girl, the world hasn't changed me attitude; faded away. Kendra was afraid. She was afraid to face everything she was feeling. She would much rather turn away from the pain and sweep it neatly under the rug.
He seemed intent on getting her to admit that she was struggling. It wasn't easy for her, to show weakness. Weakness is what she hated. She had her quirks sure, but she had never seen herself as a weak person. Shy, and timid, a bit out of her element when it came to navigating social conventions....
Those were her flaws, but not weakness. She saw herself as strong. She was strong enough to weather the storm of her father's life time of abuse. She was strong enough to forge ahead in the world without the guidance of a sweet and loving mother, or a family for that matter. She was strong enough to push past the heartache of rejection from the first girl she ever admitted that she loved.... Libby. She thought quietly as the tears welled in her eyes.
Deep pools of brown began to shimmer. Her hand absentmindedly and without realizing reached over and put the cigarette out in an ash try. Kendra was trying to keep the damn from flooding. She didn't want to break down, not in front of someone she looked up to. Artair was courageous and brave, caring in his own way.
Kendra had come to admire his stance on being a model of what a mutant should be within the community. A pillar of strength and conservation. She was the complete opposite, she was brash and show boaty. She was immature and stubborn. She helped the mutant cause in her own small way, with her magainze, but she wasn't the model of citizenship.
Is this what he wanted? To see me break down and wither? To crumple under the stress of what I've been through and not be able to stand on my own two feet? She thought. The thought of even asking for help seemed like bitter poison in the back of her mouth. She was prideful, and stupid. She didn't like to admit that the world could break her. She had fought her entire life to be independent and that was the one thing that no one could take from her until now.
Kendra leaned forward and buried her face in her hands and began to sob. Her face turned red with embarrassment. Her shoulders lurched with every sob, and she just wanted to shrink away and disappear. What would the viewers of her blog think to see her this pathetic way.
The truth was she was sinking. Everything she tried to accomplish lately seemed to backfire. She tried to help; tried to take a bigger role in making a difference in the world. It was ill advice. She wasn't cut out for hero'ing. Kendra was just a simple girl from Georgia in over her head. She nearly broke her ribs her first night as a vigilante. She had gotten herself shot on another excursion. For what? For someone she looked up to judge her, to think of her as a child. That only made her sob harder. The way she saw herself, the way others saw her.... That mattered to her. Though she wasn't likely to admit it.
Kendra felt as if cosmic justice put it's boot on the back of her head and pushed her below the surface. She could feel her lungs slowly filling up with water as she struggled for breathe. She felt like she was falling apart on the inside, and through this meeting. This whole time she had ben trying to keep a brave face for Artair. To show him that she could be strong like him, but the mask was so heavy. It slipped when her grip weakened. All it took was a few stern words and some steady disappointment. Kendra was ashamed at how easily she was broken. She felt cheated, she felt small. She didn't want to ask for help. Deep down, she knew she needed it.
Kendra continued to sob uncontrollably. For the first time in her life she actually found herself wishing she was invisible. The one time she needed it, she couldn't turn it on. Kendra was just looking for herself, trying to carve out her identity. She was trying to figure out how she fit into this new world she found herself thrust into. A world where mutants helped people and didn't have to hide who they were. It was exciting and scary and confusing and strange. She didn't know if she belonged in this world. Her thoughts took a turn for the morbid as she wondered if she belonged in this world at all.

Kendra watched as the deer came out. It was majestic. Beautiful. She had never been so close to one. Kendra almost didn't hear him ask if she wanted to pet it. At first she stood there staring, but then she gradually found the sense to nod to his question and she took a slow step forward. She lowered the camera and let it hang from her neck.
Kendra took a step forward being careful not to scare it away. Derek said he didn't have control over the animals. She wondered how that worked. How he was able to communicate with them all. Did he know instinctively all of their languages or was it just like speaking English and it translated? Kendra didn't have the concentration to sit and figure these things out. All of her attention was on Derek's friend.
After closing the distance she reached a hand out and gently stroked it's head. It's fur was soft beneath her hand. She was surprised how calm it was. They were ususally so skittish. She couldn't help but allow a smile to wash over her face. "What did you say to it?" She asked curiously. She knelt beside the deer and gave it a kiss on it's wet nose. She even dared to snuggle it's face a little bit. She couldn't imagine being able to just call creatures to your side it was kinda amazing actually.
Kendra couldn't resist a selfie she snapped a quick photo. The shot came out perfect and Kendra actually did take a peek at this one. She saw herself with a goofy grin and a deer that looked about as chill as a cucumber. Derek was off to the side of the picture and the trio made a pretty good photo. Kendra had so many questions but she wanted to get the best pictures possible and that meant taking them while they still had light. The trees over head let some light in, but it was bound to get darker in the forrest sooner than in the clearing.

Kendra had the perfect lighting. The sun was high in the sky. Kendra directed Derek where she wanted him to stand. "Let's start off wit'a few just regular shots of ya." Kendra said taking a few photos of him just standing in the woods with his arms crossed. It was probably going to be a 2 to three page article. She would have to ask him for something that seemed like an interview later. Myabe find out more about his life and his powers in detail.
Kendra kept snapping a few more photos. It didn't matter if they were good or not. She snapped them quick and got as many as she could and she would choose through them later. It was her process. She never looked at photos until later that night. She liked to discover the magic and pick out the diamonds in the rough. When she photographed she liked to be in the moment and not get bogged down or discouraged by bad photos.
"Alright move over in front of that tree and umm... Well call some animals or somethang." She said cheerfuly. She watched as some birds came to rest on hi shoulders. She blinked a few times. He acted like that was a totally normal thing. She took a few more photos. He reminded her of a Disney princess in a way. All that was missing was a beautiful lyrical song.
Kendra smiled over her camera and lowered it. "Thank we could get a few more? Maybe something a bit bigger to really pop in the photo? Can you like sense animals that are near by? It'd be crazy if we could get a bear in here or something. Guess'n there's not to many bears running round New York though. Surprise me!" Kendra said laughing at little. She was having fun. It was nice to be in her element with a camera in her hand. She loved taking pictures. Her life was normally so filled with stress and anxiety it was nice to disconnect from the stress and just focus on capturing an honest moment in a single second that would stand still forever to be immortalized.

Kendra saw the man she was stalking heading this way. Cheese and crackers! She thought in a flustered. Kendra was invisible, but she closed her eyes and wished herself more invisible. Wouldn't help. It was the same way a child might close their eyes and wish the boogeyman away. Kendra was in many ways like a child. She was stubborn and willful, inconsiderate and a bit of a prankster. She didn't stop to consider consequences only what was fun in the moment.
Kendra thought if she was just quiet then maybe they'd all think nothing was there. She didn't know this guy, or what he could do. She didn't know if he was angry, but she found herself face to face with him soon. The fat guy finished complaining and decided that he was imagining things before wandering off to continue his shopping.
Kendra watched him wander off. At least that was part of her problem solved. She had kind of made a mess of her day. She could see mall security now taking everyone's stories in the background. They were standing just a little ways off from where Shin now stood. Kendra didn't realize that she was outted. She didn't realize that she had been since in a reflection. She dared to open her eyes and saw the man staring in her direction. Don't say a freaking word girl. She thought.
Kendra had carved out a role for herself at the mansion. She was the teaching assistant to the biology teacher there. She didn't know that this man was another teacher. She should have figured that since she recognized him from the mansion that he was at least on the up and up. She didn't think about that in the moment. Panic had gripped her causing her to flea. Kendra tried to remain as quiet as possible. Why doesn't he leave? She wondered. Then it happened.
Oh no! She thought. Kendra's nose started to itch. She couldn't teleport away now because her teleport made a small wooshing sound. If he didn't know she was there before he would know after. She just hoped that he would loose interest, but her nose began to twitch. Kendra could feel a sneeze coming along. It was the worst possible timing. Kendra sneezed. It was a small sneeze but it was enough to let him know someone was standing right there.
Crap! She thought. Well, might as well come clean. She was caught at this point. It would be rather silly to keep trying to pretend she wasn't there. Kendra didn't have the power to turn visible. In her astral form she remained this way weather she wanted to be or not, but she could at least make herself known. Kendra cleared her throat a bit. That alone might have been startling. Then suddenly she spoke. Her voice was low and quiet. She didn't want anyone beside this guy to hear. She didn't want to start a panic. She could already hear the screams "Hey it's a mutant!" Her overactive fears kicking caused her voice to be nothing more than a tiny squeak. "Hi. Sorry about the ya know.... General chaos and destruction and all that." She said. It was awkward, and weird. But that was her in a nut shell.
Kendra stood there a moment. She absentmindedly rubbed at her arm and waited for the questions to come flying in. Kendra looked up from the floor so that she was staring at him. He had a kind face. Or at least he seemed to be a kind person. She honestly felt pretty bad for possibly scaring the poor guy half to death, but she just wasn't graceful. She was invisible. She couldn't help that, but she was also clumsy and awkward. She often made a mess of everything.

Kendra watched as she scribbled a little number on her notepad. The act seemed so cool and deliberate that Kendra started to blush for a moment. The blood rushed to her pale cheeks and she struggled hard to keep the smile off her face. Well... Looks like someone's a fan of trouble. Kendra thought with a bit of cockiness to her otherwise shy demeanor.
Then Becca said that if she ever wanted to train again to give her a call. The smile disappeared instantly. It was replaced with a stunned stupid look. Oh jeez and I thought.... Kendra was blushing again. Still, a tiny smile resurfaced. She liked Becca, she honestly did. She had turned out to be a lot more interesting then Kendra had originally thought. She wasn't sure what had possessed her to follow the woman down the hallway and into the danger room, but she's glad she did.
Becca gave her a bit of advice about being dangerous and reckless. Kendra had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. She had heard this speech a bunch of times already from Emily. Honestly she could recite it back to her word for word at this point. Still it came from a good place, much like this advice did. Becca was worried about her, as a friend. Kendra didn't have a great many friends here yet in the mansion. She knew that her and Becca would become good friends. "Ok." was all she managed to squeak out.
Kendra crossed the room over to the desk. She had to make a conscious effort not to let her legs give out from under hear as she took brisk purposeful strides. She wanted to seem as cool and collected as Becca. Inside she was trying not to crumble. Kendra looked at the note a moment. She then looked back at Becca. "I will, just'a no more dragons? Please?" Kendra smiled a bit, but she was kinda serious about it too.
She knew the girl would be exhausted. She hadn't been sleeping all night like Kendra. Though, Kendra was quite exhausted herself. Kendra hugged the woman lightly again and for the briefest of moments enjoyed the smell of her hair that had brushed up against her nose. Kendra's nose itched a bit and she wiggled her nose while embraced in the hug. The way a rabbit might twitch it's nose. Kendra stepped back and smiled again. "Go get'chu some sleep. You earned some winks." Kendra said. Honestly she was ready to crash herself. Sleeping all night had done nothing to rest her and her body felt like it had been in a car wreck, though she wouldn't let Becca see that.

Juliette called out to her and Kendra answered back. "I'm here!" She shouted. Kendra didn't exactly think that through. The massive animal's head whipped around to the sound of her voice. It's body lowered a bit like it was going to pounce. It's tail slashing around at the air as it's eyes searched for the source. Kendra wished she hadn't been so stupid.
Kendra's body was ridged. She didn't move a muscle. She didn't want to give away her position anymore than she already had. She was down on the ground with the great and ferocious beastie. She slowly moved her hand to her holster. Her fingers wrapped around the handle of her tranquilizer gun. Kendra's other hand slunk down into the pocket of her jacket. She found a small case that held a few extra tranquilizer darts.
Opening the case inside her pocket she pulled the gun from her holster slowly. Every movement was deliberate as she kept her eyes trained on the feline. She emerged with a new dart and quietly loaded it into the gun. Don't screw this up. Kendra calmly told herself taking a deep breathe. She wasn't sure if the tranquilizer would work on a simulated animal, but it was her best idea. Heck, it was her only idea. The men responded to a concussive blast to the face so why not this? Kendra thought.
Kendra's eyes moved back to where Juliette was for a moment. She was looking in Kendra's general direction. Kendra winced in fear as there was a small click sound of the gun being loaded. That was it. That was enough. The small click was enough to send the Tiger barreling in her direction. Can it smell me? Kendra thought briefly as she turned and began to run.
Kendra could hear the grass beating behind her. The sound of it's massive paws padding the dirt was almost thunderous in her ears. Kendra ran straight ahead. Her breath was quick and panicked as she realized she was running straight to where her sleeping body was at. I can't lead it there! She thought. Kendra exploded in a cloud of smoke and reappeared behind the tiger. "Hey Shouw Kan!" Nice jungle book reference dork! Kendra thought momentarily as she readjusted her stance.
The tiger realized it was chasing nothing again. and turned and started chasing more shadows. It was fast as the devil and Kendra was surprised how fast it moved when she was looking at it. It's lean muscles gliding in perfect synchronicity as it galloped towards her. Kendra aimed and pulled the trigger. Oh no! I missed! She thought. She was standing just by Juliette now. "Anytime's a great time to help!" She called out as she watched the menacing beast charge her.

Artair thought she needed help. Hell, maybe she did. She hadn't really processed anything. Mostly she just tried to shut the emotional pain out and just wallow in the physical pain. The pain she thought she deserved, but that wasn't healthy. It wasn't healthy for her body or her mind. Kendra had never been shot before. She was handling it the best she could.
Kendra took another puff of her cigarette and moved back over to the couch as he said he wanted to tell her another story. Why does he want to help me so bad? She wondered. He was nice enough she supposed. He had a temper. She could attest to that. She honestly hadn't been sure if he was here to yell at her or check on her when she first came downstairs. Now it seemed more he was intent on trying to save her. From what though? Herself? Kendra had never been one for making great choices.
She lowered herself down on the couch. The way her body twisted caused her shoulder to jostle and she winced in pain. Gritting her teeth her eyes squeezed shut instinctively. Like that would somehow lessen the pain she was in. Kendra honestly wished he would blow up on her. Just scream in her face, call her a child. She much preferred that side of him than this caring 'save you' nonsense. At least yelling she was used to.
Her mind started to wander a bit. She didn't catch the first part of his story. She accidentally tuned it out when she thought about her father. He was a rough uncouth man with the perpetual smell of drink about him. He was never really a kind man.
Thinking back, she couldn't remember a single happy memory shared with her father. He hated her from the day she was born. Her mother died during childbirth. If that wasn't bad enough, her father despised the fact that he lost his wife giving birth to a mutant. She knew emotional pain..... She knew plenty of physical pain too for that matter. The abuses of a drunk hateful father.
Kendra grew up mostly making her own choices and staying out of his way as much as possible. She never had guidance in her life. So when someone offered her advice and she turned her nose up at it, it wasn't her being bratty. It was the only thing that she knew. She thought she knew better. Then again, thinking she knew better is what got her shot.
Kendra looked up when she realized that Artair had started talking, and had been for a while. She had been staring at him the whole time her mind shut off and checked out. He probably thought she was listening intently. She felt bad that he was spending so much time trying to reach her. She wasn't sure she wanted to be reached. All my choices, all my life.... I have been alone. What a strange feeling to suddenly have people who care. She thought quietly as she actually did begin to listen to what he was saying.
Kendra's eyes were soft and pitiful. Docprofessor, her girlfriend Emily, now Artair. All of them were trying to reach her, trying to change her mind about being so reckless. It was what would eventually probably get her killed. Somehow though, the thought of disappointing Emily was all she could think about. She didn't care that she might've been killed. She didn't care that she got shot and her shoulder hurt like a bugger. All she cared about was that disappointment on Emily's face.
Kendra could listen to a thousand more lectures and not feel as bad as she did when she saw that. Kendra cared about Emily. Maybe more than she cared about her own safety. Emily was the one person in her life that loved her. Not concern, that was different. Honest love, pure and beautiful. Emily was disappointed because Kendra put herself in danger and she was worried not out of guilt, but love. Kendra wondered what reasons Artair had for wanting to reach her. He said some things that hinted at redemption or guilt, but what was the real reason he cared? Kendra wondered as she listened to his story....

Kendra realized that they were actually standing in the woods now. When did that happen? She wondered. Her daydreaming mind had often betrayed her to the point where she wouldn't exactly know how she got somewhere. She would just walk and let her mind drift away, jumping from one thought to the next. She smiled at Derek. "Sounds fine hun. How's bout'chu go over there between those two trees and show me what'chu can do." Kendra said simply.
Kendra turned on her camera with a flick of her thumb and started to adjust the lens. She fidgeted with the settings a bit trying to get it perfect before she raised it to her eye and took a candid shot of Derek for good measure. She not only liked to take pictures of people with their powers active, but she had a nerdy hobby of snapping photos of people she met along the way.
Back on her computer she had a folder entitled adventures and if she ever met an interesting person or an interesting face she would take a picture and store it there. It was like a chronicling of her life and everyone she had met in it that left some kind of impact on her. She smiled at the thought warmly as she took a few steps back finding a good vantage point for the photoshoot. She wasn't exactly sure what was going to happen but she was a professional. She would be able to capture the magic in the moment.
"Alright honey. Ready whenever you are." She called out from behind the lens of her expensive camera. The daylight was still bright and shiny. The light poured in from the trees giving enough life in the little clearing, though the heavily wooded area still cast a dark shadow. It was almost supernatural the way the dark surrounded his back as he stood there and the sun seemed to shine a spotlight on him all at the same time.

Moving through the halls with Derek Kendra was mostly quite. She just listened and smiled as he talked about good old southern home cooking. Kendra was never a fan really. She didn't get great home cooked meal growing up. Her home was broken. Her dad mostly bought what he liked and she had to make her own meals, when she could sneak into the kitchen without getting yelled at that was. Her dad was mostly a bastard, and a drunk. He blamed her for killing her mother who died in childbirth. Kendra didn't have fond memories of sitting around the dinner table like most people from the south. She couldn't wait to get away from Georgia and everything it stood for.
Kendra thought about her life before she got here. She thought about the fear, the sadness. Kendra thought about her ex girlfriend back in Georgia. Libby was a sweet girl. Kind, compassionate; or at least she had thought she was. Kendra had no one that even cared about her until Libby had come along and Libby broke up with her when she found out she was a mutant. Kendra was crushed. It was the reason she fled Georgia to begin with. She just wanted to get as far away from all the pain as possible. What Kendra never knew was that Libby was a mutant herself. She just couldn't handle it and she pushed Kendra away when Kendra revealed herself to be a mutant.
Kendra never found out that Libby was also a mutant. Libby kept her shame a secret as she shoved Kendra out the door. It seemed like a lifetime ago, but in the end Kendra mostly wished she could thank Libby. Not for her cold heartless act of ditching the mutant freak. But because her breaking up with her caused her to make the best change of her life. She had friends now, family even. She had a girlfriend who really cared about her in Emily and she felt for the first time like she wasn't alone. Kendra admittedly zoned out on what Derek was talking about. She had bad habit of getting lost in her own thoughts.
Looking Kendra just said yes to whatever Derek had said last. She wasn't even sure what she had just agreed to, but they had walked a good bit already. They were standing by the edge of a wooded area. They were in a little clearing at the edge of the mansion grounds. Kendra looked at Derek with curious eyes. Why'd he bring me to the woods? She wondered. Oh hell it'll just ask she thought. "So.... We're go'in over the river and through the woods to grandma's house then?" She asked with a slight sarcastic tone. She had her camera hanging from around her neck. She didn't realize that he was bringing her to a spot where he could have access to a bunch of different animals. The thought hadn't even dawned on her that he might be trying to show off his ability.

Kendra smiled. "It ain't far. I'll just be a tick." She hurried off to grab her camera. As she did she thought about how nice it'd be to have someone to talk to while she graded papers. It wasn't exactly the most interesting job in the world sitting in a greenhouse correcting biology scores. Emily, her girlfriend wouldn't mind her going for a walk. Emily to her knowledge wasn't the jealous type. And Kendra was mostly interested in women anyways. She had no problem with men, and had even thought about it once or twice. Surely something she would have been open too, but for the most part she was very much attracted to women.
Kendra grabbed her camera and headed back downstairs. She took the steps two at a time and was surprise at how excited she was about the idea of seeing his powers in action potentially. She would have to think of some subtle way to bring it up in conversation. She didn't want him to think that she was just trying to get a free show, but it was still something interesting. He could talk to animals for crying out loud how cool was that? Her power wasn't something you cold rightly snap a photo off. How do you take a picture of an invisible girl?
Kendra rejoined Derek at the bottom of the stairs. "Ready. Shall we?" She asked in a quiet tone. She was surprised with just how comfortable she was around him already. It was his soft spoken presense and his southern charm she supposed, but he felt more like an old friend than a complete stranger. The warm sun felt good on her skin as they stepped out into the afternoon. The day was just dripping with all kinds of possibilities and the light would make for some fantastic photos should ne opportunity arise.

Kendra smiled shyly. She nodded and sort of blushed. She wasn't great at meeting people in the flesh, but she supposed it wasn't so bad. Derek seemed to be a really nice guy from what she could tell of him so far. Kendra hadn't been seen until now.
Her astral form was invisible except for in reflections. If he had seen her, he would have seen she was wearing a light beige willowy sweater that was just a little two long on the sleeves. They engulfed her hands completely, but she loved that sweater. She was wearing a pair of jeans with rips at the thighs and a pair of heavy boots. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail.
Kendra's astral form existed exactly as her body did. If she fell asleep with her phone in her pocket, she would bring an invisible phone with her into her dream, the same was true for her clothes, her camera and anything else she fell asleep physically touching. It made those things and extension of herself as she entered astral form. That was good though. At least she wouldn't wander around in her astral form naked and barefoot avoiding any and all mirrors like the plague.
Kendra looked at Derek a moment more before she finally spoke. "Well... These papers can wait til later tonight. I'd love some fresh air if'n you don't mind taking a colleague out for a walk." She suggested. Truthfully she was feeling a little couped up in here and she would love for a chance for Derek to demonstrate his power to her. Though she wouldn't ask outright. She didn't want him to feel like a preforming monkey doing party tricks. Kendra smiled brightly at him before she added "I'd love to stop by my room upstairs, get my camera first."
She was hoping he said yes. Though in her head she wasn't sure if her straight forward asking of him to go for a walk was considered weird. Social cue, and socially acceptable behavior just eluded her, she always felt like an outsider looking in on something she just wasn't a part of. It was much easier to get to know someone in her astral form and then meet them afterwards.

"Ahhhhh!" Kendra screamed. She hadn't been paying attention. Her mind had a tendency to wander. It was a result of having a 24/7 constant live stream of her brain. Even when she slept her brain moved at it's normal pace. She was never really asleep so her mind never got a chance to click off, reboot and allow it to get some rest. She always felt fried. So sometimes she would zone out for a bit and just well, Daydream.
Kendra shrieked at the unexpected touch. She wasn't exactly stealth. She felt more in line under the category of clumsy. When he bumped her she instinctively teleported backwards away from him. Only a few feet but enough that she wouldn't be bumped again. It didn't help that she let out a scream. That was stupid. Kendra thought grumpily.
Maybe he would think it was someone else in the store. Kendra took a few steps back, trying to put just a little more distance between her and the man she had been quietly stalking. Her luck continued to show that it was in a playful mood as she accidentally bumped into a mannequin wearing a flowery dress. It fell over and it's freaking head fell off and rolled across the ground all on it's own.
Kendra was sure that she was busted now. There was no explaining that away. If it was the wind, it was a freaking hurricane in this store. Not likely since there were not cows or mailboxes floating around in a dust cloud. Kendra teleported back outside the store where the fountain was. In the process she bumped into another person. "Hey what the!?" The man cried as she accidentally knocked him into fountain. Oh shit! She thought. The man fell in with a splash and started screaming bloody murder.
Somewhere in the mall, mall security was already hustling towards the area wondering what all the screaming and fussing was about. Mall security.... What a joke. They were so bored they were just excited for a chance to do something with their long boring days.
Kendra wasn't sure what she had been thinking, but she was a classic klutz. And now she was recking things at a near professional level. Kendra decided it was time to bail out. She was sure he was a mutant, but she never verified he was a nice one. What if he was angry. It was harmless enough but she could see how stalking could make someone a bit peeved. Kendra unrealistically envisioned herself being metled by heat ray eyes or sucked into a blackhole. She wasn't sure what he could do with his mutation, but she didn't want to see it first hand.
Well.... Today got a lot more interesting she thought as she grabbed the railing of the excelator by the fountain and began to run up the down excelator. As she made her escape she pushed past several other people and left a trail of chaos in her escape. Kendra didn't want to teleport anymore, she was making enough of a mess as it was.
