The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Leon was not looking forward to this.
Before he had become what he was, he would have probably leaped at the chance for a survival challenge out in the woods. Given his own choice he would have locked himself in his room and pretended it didn't exist. However, he had been... volunteered. He was here to learn how to deal with his condition, not to hide in his room for the rest of his life, something the staff had made sure to remind him when they told him he would be participating in this. He had objected of course, but they had insisted that he had to make the effort if he wanted to remain here.
So Leon was there. not with the group of students of course, he was seated under a tree a good distance from the group, trying to make himself unnoticeable, a difficult task for someone covered in red fur. He was covered up by his jacket and this tail wrapped to keep the quills away from anyone, but even so he was dangerous to be around as they easily pierced through if he got too worked up, something he was trying hard not to be right now. He would just wait here for the guy he was paired with, and try to keep his distance until this ordeal was over.

"Must be interesting times for you then," said Manti, completely unfazed by her being a cop. A cop who liked motorcycles and hung out in biker bars was no problem, and meant he had less to worry about. "Of course the Chinese call that a curse, I think," he continued, recalling some trivial fact he had heard somewhere, "How does it go? 'May you live in interesting times' or something like that." of course he didn't believe in curses, but he could understand the logic. Interesting times meant a lot of things being stirred up, and while that could be a good thing, it could just as easily go south.
With only three more solids on the table, the shots were getting more limited, and the scattering of the striped balls made getting a strait forward shot tricky. He aimed, then changed position when he determined it wasn't going to work. The next shot he took bounced off the side at the wrong angle, striking one of the striped balls, which rolled into a hole. Scratch. "Darn," he said, slightly frustrated, but still in good humor. It was just a game after all.

"You'd be surprised just how many witches in disguise there are."
"Too true," he responded lightheartedly. In all honesty it was easy to draw a parallel between mutants and witches, special powers, somewhat outcasts of society. Indeed, now that he thought about it, maybe mutants were the origin of witch stories to begin with, becoming the inspiration behind the myth. Of course if he went that route there was no telling how many myths and legends were actually based in reality with mutants as the center.
"Plants are nice and all that, but a full meal they do not make."
"But they do make a nice garnish," said Manti. He supposed that being both elf and dragon meant omnivore should have been obvious, though he wondered if that caused any conflict with her digestive system. Even if she had the same diet in either form, what happened to the food she ate when she shifted? Mutants had a lot of things about them that seemed to defy the laws of physics, though to be honest, that was the fun thing about them.
"Well, I no lightweight when it comes to drinks," he said to her comment about his drink choice. "In fact, I can't get drunk, part of my whole poison quill thing, toxins don't affect me." It was a simple explanation, he didn't know the whole process of how his body did it of course, but it was just one of the undeniable facts from observance that he couldn't get drunk no matter how much he drank, which meant he would never lose a drinking contest.

This was the first time that Leon had met another mutant who had any form of immunity to toxins, leaving him unprepared as to how to feel about this. He was never one to really look on the bright side of things, and so supposed 'good news' left his skeptical at best. Just because this girl was immune to 'most toxins' as she put it did not necessarily mean 'his toxins', and with his luck, it would turn out that she wasn't immune and he would be the one toxin that could kill her. "All the same," he said, putting his hands up in a gesture to keep her distance "I'd rather not test it out." She seemed... he didn't really know, he wasn't very good at reading people... annoyed? Frustrated? He supposed thinking he was someone she was looking for, someone red apparently, and finding some sort of monster instead was disappointing. "Sorry..." he said, wondering if he should leave since he caused her discomfort.
The little dinosaur made some strange gesture before running off. Perhaps it too was unnerved by his presence. Soon after another woman walked up, covered in robes in with an umbrella.
"Um, I'm the dinosaur. Its easier to talk in my human body."
Leon was... a little surprised, though really it shouldn't be all that surprising given they were at a mutant school where anything was possible as far as mutant powers were concerned. Moreover it put him back on edge, now there were two people here to worry about. It expression of anxiety on his face may have been unreadable due to it's animalistic features, making it slightly difficult to tell how stressed he really was.

"Or crazy cat ladies are witches in disguise," said Manti, sliding in the other side of the table, letting his leg lay across the seat. If he put them under the table, it would probably cramp his company. "And what witch wouldn't love a dragon familiar." He was enjoying himself, Ambrosia was a good bantering opponent. He was curious as to what she looked like as a dragon, but he imagined that it would probably not be a good idea for her to demonstrate here, as she would probably lose her clothes in the act. Maybe he wasn't a gentleman, but he wasn't that crass.
"You mean you aren't?!" said Manti in a mock tone of surprise, "How can you eat something with a face!?" he said, covering his eyes with his arm in a dramatic expression that was obviously over the top. He looked out from under his arm, with a laugh, "Well, I think my girlish figure gives me away," he said, still chuckling," but I have no problems with my fair share of greens." Honestly he could eat just about anything, he was immune to toxins, even raw meat wasn't a problem, so neither was vegetables or fruit, even poisonous ones. He had once mistakenly eaten poison hemlock out of a herbalist vendors cart thinking it was a wild carrot, almost giving the seller a heart attack, but had been completely unaffected.
Manti looked at the drinks menu, pondering over his choice of rums, liqueurs and spirits. Given his company, he saw something that he considered appropriate for the occasion, and ordered a cheap bottle of absinthe. Ordinarily he didn't go for heavy herbal flavors, but the idea of having a 'green fairy' in front of an elf/dragon was too tempting to pass up.

Leon's complete ignorance of what to do in situations involving dinosaurs was quickly cut short by the appearance of someone else. Luckily it wasn't another dinosaur to further add to the confusion. Unluckily it was another person. As soon as he became aware of her, Leon's body stiffened on reflex. He had to consciously fight the reaction to prevent his quills from rising from stress and sticking through his clothes again.
"Jupiter?!"
"Um.... no," he said unsure of wither she was talking about someone else. Jupiter wasn't a usual name, unless maybe it was a mutant name. Either way he just knew it wasn't him she was looking for. Nobody looked for him, at least nobody smart enough not to go looking for monsters. "Y-you should keep your distance," he said nervously, "I'm poisonous." He wanted her to know well in advance in case she, like many of the other mutants here, insisted on getting close to him. It was only after this that he noticed she was drop dead gorgeous, and felt an additional burn of shame knowing how hideous he was. He could only imagine how disgusting he must seem to others.

"More than once I've wished I could just growl and have unwanted bros hitting on me take a step back in fear. But, you know how it is."
"Oh yeah, I have ladies lining up the block for me." said Manti, continuing the humor, "True, most of them are crazy cat ladies, but hey, you know how that is."
Manti walked in with Amber, a few heads turning as the huge lion-like mutant blocked the light coming through the door. Manti was used to drawing attention upon an entrance, so paid it no mind.
"So, just drinks or food as well?"
"I just ate, but feel free to get something for yourself." said Manti, not wanting to bankrupt the girl. He could eat a ton, it honestly took a good deal to fill him up, which was to be expected by his size.

"You'd be amazed what you can do with a sturdy bike, good deal of strength and cat-like agility," Manti said with a proud tone. He of course couldn't go professional in competitions, unfair advantage to everyone else (further proof of how awesome he actually was), but the thrill of pulling off stunts that would be impossible for the average person more then made up for it. He walked around and saw the easy shot, took aim and sunk it.
"Getting rich isn't really a goal of mine," he said to Ivy's suggestion of copyrighting the ideas, "Managing a million dollar company is something for eccentrics to do, I'm much happier fixing bikes, thank you." Honestly he couldn't see himself aspiring to anything like that. Too much work, not enough reward. Sure you could get a lot of money, but that didn't mean you'd be happy, and from what he read, those who maintained big companies did so by working 80 hour weeks or more, essentially always working, not something he had the drive for. Sure, he was confident in himself and could do just about anything he set his mind to, but he wasn't that crazy.
With Ivy's balls clumped together, Manti had a clear shot at a corner. He took aim and tapped the ball again. He hit a little harder then he meant to, and the ball knocked into the other going in. He held his breath a little as the white ball bounce against edge of the corner guards, coming dangerously close to falling in, though finally it stopped moving. "So, I've told you what I do," he said as he rounded the table to the corner, "What about you? What do you get up in the morning for?" The question was open ended, it could be interpreted several ways, letting Ivy choose what she wanted to respond with. The awkward position of the ball made the next shot difficult, Manti didn't have anything to lean on, so he had to gauge with the pool stick in the air. Though he aimed, the strike was off center and too hard, and the ball went spinning, catching air for a moment before bouncing off the sides and crashing into the clump of stripes that scatted across the table before the ball finally came to a stop.

"You're lucky you have good work, looking as you do."
"You mean totally awesome?" rebutted Manti without hesitation, smiling and running a hand through his mane. As far as he was concerned, his appearance was a bonus, not a curse, and something he was anything but ashamed or humble about. True, some had 'tried' to tell him otherwise, those few who managed the courage to do so, but they had never come up with an excuse that amounted to more then that person having a problem rather then anything that was actually applicable to Manti. His appearance was a deterrent to troublemakers, a test of character for others, and, in Manti's own opinion, a completely gorgeous blend of leonine features that made him look like a stud. Not that he was bragging or anything.
"Yikes, I'd hate to imagine what it would be like to accidentally poison someone. That would be terrible!"
"Good thing people usually arn't dumb enough to go looking for trouble around me," he said, still grinning. Just about everything about him was a warning, bright red fur, shark teeth, lion appearance, and spikes. Only an idiot would willingly try to attack him, though he had known a few in his time. He didn't really rely on his poison much anyway, if it really came down to it, his teeth, claws and tail spikes were weapons enough. He didm't need to waste them on anything less then an emergency.
"My fire makes people sick but its not really dangerous, not like real fire. It's kind of my self defense mechanism."
"Ah, less fire breathing dragon, more really bad dragon breath," he teased. It was a habit between him and his friends to take friendly pokes at each other. He had been called porcupine and pussy cat plenty of times in good humor.
"Well, this is it. We've arrived."
Manti looked at the sign, "I would have called it 'The Wooden Nickel'," he said playfully, "a bit less 'captain obvious', a bit more humorous."

Leon was not sure what to make of the situation. There was a miniture dinosaur right in front of him making chirping noises. Of course he didn't understand what it wanted, "Um... okay..." he said, speaking more to himself then anyone else, "What do you want?" he said, though he wasn't actually expecting an answer, "I don't have any food." he said then thought some more, "If your carnivourous, I don't think you'd like the tast of me, and I'm probably poisonous to you." He didn't know enough about dinosaurs to tell if it ate meat or not, but with his luck that would be the case, just as it was probably likely he was poisonous to anything that tried to take a bite out of him. He hadn't tested that theory, nor did he want to. Especially if it mean that *he* made dinosaurs extinct *again*. Leon made sure this jacket was on tight, and moved his tail away in case the little creature decided to try take a bite.

Manti walked alongside her, his tail swishing from side to side. The dragon bit explained the fire breathing. The overall picture he was getting from her was some sort of fantasy inspired theme going on with he mutation. Of course his was as well if he thought about it, though his tended more on the more fierce-some side of that spectrum. "I work in a bike shop, repair them, build them, decal, etc..." he said, going over the run down of his day job. He was lucky that he could work in a job that mirrored his passions. "And as for what I can do, aside from what is obvious of course..." he rounded his tail to one side so that it was within hands reach and tensed it, and the tuft of his tail stiffened into sharp spines that clicked together as he walked. He broke one off at the base before relaxing again and letting the quills relax back into a soft fur-like state. "Let's just say Manticore was a very fitting nickname," he said, offering the quill as a souvenir. "I have poisoned spines, well, most of them, the one at the tip of my tail aren't, but the rest pack a punch. Their like fur unless I tense up, so I don't have to worry much about accidents." He could only imagine how inconvenient that would have been.

Manti was thoroughly enjoying himself, Ivy was keeping up good conversation, and keeping pace with him in the game. She seemed comfortable enough to take a joke and not feel overly sensitive either about herself or about fearing offending him. It wasn't often you got someone who was completely unfazed by someone like him right off the bat. Even his closest friends had taken a little adjustment time to get used to him. "Oh, don't knock till you try it," he teased, "It's very cozy on a cold night. How many people do you know who wouldn't love a fur coat?"
He took Ivy's comment about his size in stride, "Oh yeah, can't have the bike falling apart beneath me." he grinned, "Had to make a big one until I could get some stronger materials. Don't get me wrong, a big bike is cool and all, but not so great if you plan on stunts." His first bike had been really big, which had made it hard to do any type of tricks. He was strong enough to where he could technically accomplish it, but it was generally hard on the bike, he had to be smarter with the materials and structure to get a bike that was strong enough to hold him while not bending under it's own weight after a series of jumps.
"You think someone would have jumped on that and made a fortune," he said as Ivy commented on things designed for mutants. He knew that capitalism really didn't care about any color but green, so if there was a market it only made sense that someone would take advantage of a customer basis that was thus far unclaimed. If there wasn't, it was only a matter of time before someone realized this, and perhaps he could get his hands on a paw designed tool set. He moved to the ball, eyeing the remaining balls for the best possible target. There were 5 more solids, not including the eight ball, with the stripes making maneuvering a ball difficult. He finally took aim, bouncing the ball again to try hit a solid into a side pocket, but it clipped one of the striped one, and when it hit the solid, the angle made it veer to far to one side, missing the hole.

Manti had no problem walking anywhere, though it was a little slow paced. He liked speed, wither it was on a cycle or just plain running, but he was adaptable. He had no issue with pubs either, he frequented bars in his biking circle, so a pub was just a less smoky place he could drink. "I'm sure the'll have no problem with us," said Manti, "If they do, I can always just smile," he gave a short grin, exposing his teeth, laid in multiple rows, looking all the world like some sort of nightmare inverted chainsaw. Manti rarely had to actually use his teeth as a weapon, mainly because the mere sight of them gave anyone second thoughts about the benefit of causing trouble for something that could likely sheer and arm off.
"So what is it you do, besides dancing and demonstrating." he asked. It was opened ended, he didn't know if she had any other abilities in addition to her fire-breathing, or if she had a job of some type with this as a hobby of sorts.

Eventually Leon got to the end of his song. He remained silent after, examining his thoughts to see if this had gotten it out of his system. Thankfully the rephrases seemed to have left his mind, finally letting him think undistracted by lyrics. He was glad he seemed to have managed to get through it without someone walking in on him. It seemed to him that people had a habit of rooting him out at the worst possible moments. For once he seemed to be utterly alone, perhaps getting lost in a maze wasn't an attractive idea to the students.
He took the opportunity to adjust his bandages. A few spines were sticking through the material, so he carefully pulled the bandages off and smoothed the spines back down before covering them again. He didn't want to accidentally break them off if he could help it, since they were dangerous to have lying around.
As he did so, motion caught the corner of his eye. It quickly drew his attention due to his paranoia about others. However what greeted his eyes was not a person so much as a... lizard? Not quite, he hadn't seen any lizard like that, in fact if he hadn't known any better he would say it was a dinosaur... But then he couldn't say it wasn't, he already knew a dragon, he couldn't well say that dinosaurs were not in the realm of possibility at this school. But it was so small... was it someones pet? He didn't know but he watched it, a bit curiously, how often did you see a dinosaur after all?

"Well now, never let it be said that I was one to turn down a free drink with good company." said Manticore, giving a toothy grin. Honestly coffee was not his favorite, it had a very strong scent that sometimes was irritating to him. He could stand it, after all he hung out in a motorcycle bar where smoking was a guarantee, so irritating smells could be gotten used too. He was social enough to where he could endure a little bit of discomfort if he got to hang out with friends. He had just met this woman, but he was always on the look out for more friends to hang out with. And if he was lucky enough, maybe she would let him look under the hood of her smart car.
"So what will it be coffee, tea, or something a little stronger?" he said, hinting at his preferred preference. Manti had develop a taste for alcohols, beer, liquor, rum. His biology was such that it broke down the alcohol like any other toxin, so he never got drunk, letting him enjoy a variety without a hangover later. Well, it did make him thirsty if he had too much, booze didn't replace water.
