The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Attention, attention! It is that time of month again: time to nominate the candidates for Mutant of the Month! This venerable contest is a tradition as old as the site itself, a tradition that allows us all to show our support for one another and our appreciation for those that are working hard to make MRO a truly great place.
Don't be afraid to throw someone's name into the hat. It doesn't matter if you've been on the five days or five years, anyone can put up a nomination. If you think someone has done a particularly good job at writing posts, has contributed to a major plot, or has been friendly and helpful in the cbox... give them a shout out! It makes other people feel great when someone notices the hard work they have done. Simply being nominated is a great honor.
So after a brief consideration of the possibilities, and deep insight into the reasons each were brought up, My nomination has dropped down to one.
Drumroll Please!!
I have chosen to nominate Guglin for July Mutant of the Month.
I have dredged up a couple reasons for this, but one stands out more than any other. Guglin is good people. He has consistently been a kind soul to me OOC, answering many questions, chatting in cbox, being one of the first to thread with me, and generally being a watchful Obi Wan in this screwy world we call MRO.
I believe he looks at each situation with a mix of passion, logic, and down to earth attitude. This makes him not only a wise MRO sage, but also just a cool friend to talk or debate with.
IC Guglin holds an innocence that makes me smile. His sense of wonder and excitement at each bit of the world around him creates an interesting contradiction with his devilish appearance. At the same time, his innocence is offset by a mischievous need for good food and shiny objects.
All in all, this little green character creates an interesting dichotomy that should delight those who read his tales.

*rains into the thread!*
Now this person I have only just recently started RPing with, but she has turned out to be an absolute pleasure to write for. Yesh, ladies and gentlemen, I speak of MRO's resident Queen of Darkness...Syn! She is a perfect blend of funny, witty, and terrifying and I look forward to reading her posts. If you haven't had the pleasure of RPing with her, then please, do so!

Ladies and gentlemen, it should come as no surprise to you, but this month I'd like to nominate one of our newer additions to the boards, Miles~ ;D
Each of his posts are comedic gems and incredibly well-written, and in his time here, I've found myself gradually growing addicted to them. He is one of few members who, no matter who they're threading with, I go out of my way to follow what they write.
Not only can this man write, but he's also a very personable guy who just adds to the good vibes floating about the cbox.
Love to this most-awesome thrall-maker! Check out his threads, and you'll see what I mean.
I reccomend these for decent reads--
If you aren't already, take a look at Miles' posts in Hitting the 'Town. He might not be brave to the point of self-sacrifice, but he manages to carry his own and keep us entertained while doing so.
I have a horrid habit of linking threads I'm in, but you should also take a look at Look What I Found! Poor Miles gets a living statue thrown at him by an evil, evil gargoyle. Though it's still in its beginning stages, I expect there to be hilarity rampant and, as always, it's a prime example of how well Miles writes.
I find Ms. Quinn, Don't Make Me Angry to be a fabulous change of pace. In this thread, Miles discusses his feelings about his powers with Xavier's resident empath, and it reveals a deeper side to Miles' typical, comedic writing. Sure, there are elements of humor, but it is still a touch more serious than what we encounter in the other threads.
