The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The trip back to...well, wherever was quite the blur. All Rhythm knew was softness and a gentleness rarely shown to her since her previous time in New York, before her whole mess in new Orleans. It was a rather nice change, something she could get used to. And while she knew it wasn't the time for it, the smell coming from the softness that was enveloping her was...intoxicating. Like if someone managed to take a warm summers night and make it into a fragrance, then added just the tiniest hint of chocolate and lemon drops...well, it was a rather odd combination but not an unpleasant one. In fact, it was this very smell that pulled Rhythm from her rather confused state and focused on the woman that was holding her.
The ride going to their destination (whatever that was) was spent with Rhythm looking upon the gorgeous face of Syn, the very reason Rhythm was out at a bar in the first place. Not the best of second impressions (was there such a thing as a second impression?) but Rhy took what she could get. Her mind was fuzzy though, and as much as she wanted to reach a hand up to brush some of the other woman's hair from her face and comment on just how entrancing she was. Rhy's current lack of motor skills and oatmeal brain would have probably made for am embarrassing scene...like accidentally poking Syn in the eye. Not wanting that, Rhythm merely went along for the ride, even letting her Spiritual Other guide her to the infirmary and get her checked out.
The flurry of motion was quick and simple, the doctors and nurses there probably far too used to such occurrences to be surprised or alarmed at the state of Rhythm's being. Rhythm herself was far too used to such things, remembering her trips to the infirmary in the X-Men Mansion when she'd helped her brother Andrew and Lydia fight off some human that had taken too much of that drug...then being shot. Oh, and her surrogate father breaking her nose. Though Jorge had apologized, but that still didn't stop Rhy from thinking about it every now and again and chuckling.
Through her blood loss, Rhythm had been in and out of consciousness throughout her treatment, and eventually things calmed when it was determined she didn't have brain damage or was suffering from any of her wounds. Her blood was restored somehow (mutant healer; can't live without them!) and her bouts of sleep ended when she awoke to find the soft, sensual, heavenly lips of Syn on hers. The thief's mind blanked for a moment as she closed her eyes before they snapped open again, her blood red orbs locking onto those entrancing forest green ones for only a few moments before Rhythm swallowed.
“'Eh love...†the con artist slapped on her most charming smile...as much as she could while still looking like shit run over twice from her bar fight encounter. “Ya din even buy meh dinnah first. I'd feel all offended, but ah'm thinking ah could prolly recover jes from yer kisses alone.â€
Releasing Rhythm’s lips from Syn’s own she looked down at the woman smiling. Brushing a stray hair from Rhythm’s beautiful face Syn almost laughed. “Tell you what, I’ll keep kissing you until you’re well enough to go eat dinner. How’s that sound?” Syn’s hand brushed lightly over the other woman’s cheek and down the side of her neck.
Ever since that first time they met Syn had felt something about the red eyed female. It was a similar feeling to the ones she felt with Omen and Fiona years ago. Only certain ladies sparked this kind of interest within Syn, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what that spark was from. All she knew was how it felt and she enjoyed it as in past times it was felt by the other person also.
Kitra couldn't help squeaking as she was picked up gently by Abyss. She took a slight notice that he had picked her up carefully, carefully enough not to touch anything that shouldn't be touched. She also felt safely cradled in his arms. Kitra giggled, "You are the gentleman indeed Abyss. And its not nice to tease Lisa."
Kitra yawned and covered her mouth with her hands apologetically. "Sorry sorry," she giggled. Yesh, what is wrong with her? She couldn't stop being goofy. As her thoughts jumped around in her head randomly, they had arrived at Abyss's room. Kitra felt herself being deposited gently onto a bed, or was it a chair? She honestly couldn't tell.
What Kitra did know is that she had a pounding headache. Weren't those supposed to come after you had passed out and then woken up. She blinked up at Abyss, "I don't suppose you have any water? Or food?" Her brain didn't want to shut up and her mouth wanted to yatter off her mind's thoughts. "I ate a little while I was drinking with Rhythm. I think that helped, how is she?" She vaguelly recalled Syn taking Rhythm off somewhere and she figured it would be to the infirmary.
Ugh, didn't her mind ever shut up? It was like she was on a roller coaster through her past. "Do drunk people normally have loose tongues? Or perhaps a ride through their heads on a wicked rollercoaster from the past?" Kitra figured she was babbling but didn't care. Abyss was a good guy, er mutant guy and he had always held secrets well. Or that's what she thought anyway. Kitra really did wish her head would shut up.
((We are going to just continue on here, don't have too much fun you two.))
“of course.” He agreed amiably to the pint sized, smashed red head in his arms. He noted that this was beginning to become a habit carrying Kitra around, the poor girl had a lot going on in her life and only rare slivers of it seemed to be truly in her favor. Homicidal boyfriends, overly demanding employers, drunken escapades at bars that ended with phone calls from curbs. He wanted to help her get on her two feet and stand tall and strong after she was sober. For now, she needed sleep. “Lisa wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t tease her.
He chuckled at her yawn turning into giggles. He helped her take her shoes off, one so she could be more comfortable and two so his bed wouldn’t have the filth of new York streets on it. not that her shoes were any dirtier than anyone else’s, but it was the principle. Abyss handed Kitra a few slices of bread and a bottle of water. “ I know, its not particularly flavorful, but it seems to help soak up the liquor . I’d go easy on the water until your stomach settles a bit.”
He smirked slightly. “Rhythm is in Syn’s capable hands.” He wanted to say that they might have something going, but he didn’t want to spread any rumors, even if Kitra wasn’t likely to remember it in the morning. “Yeah, Intoxicants tend to free you of inhibitions, they take away that little part in most people that cares what they say and how they say it, don’t worry though, I am quite entertained. If you’d like to take a shower I can go to the cafeteria for a bit and let you have some privacy.” When he managed to drink too much, typically on nights that Jupiter sprung for kegs, he loved to soak in the water until the hot water ran cold. It was inconsiderate to anyone sharing a water heater with him, but he rarely cared once wasted.
Kitra was handed a few slices of bread as well as a water bottle. "Thanks." While Kitra nibbled on the bread Abyss had gone on to say that Rhythm was with Syn. She had inclined her head slightly at that but had flinched when the room went spinny and rerighted her head to a full upright position.
Yeah, Intoxicants tend to free you of inhibitions, they take away that little part in most people that cares what they say and how they say it, don’t worry though, I am quite entertained. If you’d like to take a shower I can go to the cafeteria for a bit and let you have some privacy.”
Kitra blinked a few times, "A shower does sound nice." Kitra opened her mouth to say more but was interuppted by a quiet knocking at the door. Before either of them could answer it or say anything the door opened and Lisa strode in with some clothes for her.
"I thought you could use proper attire. That does not smell like alcohol."
With that Lisa deposited her clothes on Abyss's bed and strode out. Kitra couldn't help but giggle once Lisa had left. "I guess she can be nice when she wants to be huh?" By then Kitra had finished the few slices of bread and actually felt a little bit better. "Hey Abyss, I think I will try the shower." She had eye spyed how far away the bathroom was, and it looked easy enough to get to.
Once Abyss left for the cafeteria Kitra managed to slither off the bed. She managed to make it to Abyss's bathroom by using the wall as leverage. She was quite thankful that the door was open. And color her impressed his bathroom was really clean and really well organize.... Wait. Kitra had spotted betty boop. On female underwear. It was quite an impressive, er, feat to have underwear of all types of lace and sizes that were pinned up on the walls. It wasn't on all the walls, just the one that you faced if you were staring at the toilet, or the one if you were sitting on the toilet.
She saw Betty Boop, Tinkerbell, devils, angels, devil angel halflings. Kitra shook her head slowly not quite believing what she was seeing. Ok maybe she was hallucinating. That just had to be it. She managed to get herself into the shower after depositing her clothes on the sink. After about ten minutes of the hot water running over her she felt half way alive again. Mind you just about half way and one hell of a headache.
Kitra carefully climbed out of the tub and toweled herself dry with an overly large towel. After pulling and manuvering herself into her clean clothes she had sat down on the toilet, after closing the lid mind you. Her intention was to get her purple slippers on that Lisa had brought along with her clothes. Kitra didn't even manage to get one slipper on before she caught sight of the wall in front of her.
For a minute all she could do was stare in wonder. Once again, female undergarments were pinned to the wall. A few of the bras said things like, 'Bite me', 'Grab here', 'Bouncy bouncy'. Then Kitra looked over to see underwear that had just as naughty things written on them. 'Entrance here', 'Sexy', 'hold me'.
Kitra couldn't help it, she just started giggling and couldn't stop. She had to be seeing things. It was too much, her head was spinning with how hard she was laughing but she just couldn't stop.
Abyss let his mouth fall open slightly and raised his eyebrows at Lisa and her bold entrance, perhaps it was because she knew he wasn’t up to no good, or perhaps it was because she thought he was that she opened the door and simply entered..
His head turned back to Kitra, forgetting the momentary affront, she was being nice. “Yeah, I don’t think of her as mean normally just over worked. If I had to attempt to keep this place organized.” He simply shook his head and let the thought explain itself.
“ Ok, I’ll be in the cafeteria., I’ll check on ya in thirty minutes or so?” He’d gladly give her as long as she wanted, if he wasn’t still worried about her. He didn’t much care for potentially having to dry off a passed out Kitra from the shower, it wasn’t that the girl wasn’t attractive, she was. but she had enough trouble to sort out, without mixed up ideas about what happened while she was intoxicated. Besides, Jocelyn. He was working on something with Jocelyn, things were proceeding slowly, cautiously, but they were proceeding.
He meandered down to the cafeteria, carefully avoiding the path that went near any of his siblings, he didn’t want more trouble from any of them tonight. He walked in grabbed a pile of chicken nuggets and a couple scoops of mashed potatoes and made way to his brothers, they would wonder why he hadn’t set with them if he didn’t.
He ate quietly and quickly not wanting to give them time to wonder what he had been up to when he noticed something was amiss. Mercury was grinning ear to ear and Venus was keeping a carefully composed face. He dipped a nugget in his potatoes and ate then looked at them both. “What?” he snapped irritated. Mercury’s grin boild over into a burst of laughter like a dam giving way. Venus shot him a look to no avail in shutting him up. “ Oh, nothing. “ Venus sighed. Pluto was much better at pulling pranks with. Mercury continued to crack up.
Abyss glared. “What did you do?”
Venus smiled. “ I guess you didn’t look around your room much before you left?”
Abyss shook his head and observed Mercury and his incessant laughter.
Venus was grinning at this point too, laughter slowly becoming contagious. Abyss almost smiled due to the fact that Mercury was now on the ground trying to catch his breathe and failing due to cracking up. His brother then blurted the word. “Panties!”
Abyss looked back to Venus Chomping another nugget. Before tossing a nugget at mercury and Tossing the bowl of mashed potatoes at Venus, who expertly deflected the bowl away from his shirt. Venus shook his head ”lighten up brother, we haven’t done anything permanent. They’re all new I assure you.”
Abyss grit his teeth. What kind of pervert had they potentially made him look like, they would pay dearly if Kitra had already stumbled across it and it was terrible. Panties? He wondered.
He tapped on the door only to hear Kitra cracking up at something. They were dead. he turned the knob breaking the lock, forgetting that he had flipped the feeble lock mechanism into locked position on his exit. He cracked the door. “Kitra? Are you decent? Everything ok?” He cover his eyes with a hand and entered nervous to learn about what they had done.
Kitra was close to passing out from laughing so much. She wasn't quite certain how long she had been laughing when she heard Abyss asking if she was alright. Kitra sucked in some much needed air into her lungs let it out and tried again, "I'm in your oh so decorative bathroom." Kitra's mirth was quite evident in her voice as she continued, "And yes I am decent."
She looked down at her still bare toes and struggled to get her slippers on. Kitra loved her fuzzy slippers, but they were proving rather difficult to slip on her feet. Exasperated she let out a string of curse words that were pretty much intellagible, "Stupid slippers." That was the last thing out of her mouth before one tug too hard and she tumbled on to the tiled floor. "Owe."
Abyss peeked through his fingers as he proceeded carefully, just in case drunk Kitra's version of decent was a bit less than what sober Kitra's might have been. He turned the corner and found a fully clothed Kitra, quite to his relief. She was however in a bath room that as just about wallpapered in panties. Abyss let a sigh escape his lips.
"My brother's decided to redecorate, apparently when I was hanging out with Syn earlier. I'lll admit, it is more colorful in here." He bent as he spoke and placed the little fluffy things on Kitra's feet and scooped her up again. He wouldn't have picked her up except that he couldn't bring himself to leave her on a bathroom floor, even if he cleaned it regularly. "Where to?" He smirked as he made his way to deposit Kitra on his bed once more.
As he made the short trip from the bathroom to the bed he stepped on a piece of Kitra's prior outfit and began to slip,"Oh!" a stumble,"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" a near trip and finally a fall onto the bed. "ooof!" He had managed to keep both of them from major harm, but now they were ever so close. Hadn't he promised Lisa not to put Kitra in any compromising positions? Considering the current tangle of limbs and bodies pressed together he was fairly certain he had broken said promise.
Venus and Mercury stared from the door momentarily stunned, not quite sure waht they were seeing or hearing.
Mercury naturally let out a mocking. "ooooooooooooooh!" as if Abyss were going to be in trouble. Venus smirked. " pardon us brother, we weren't aware you had company. Goodnight Abyss, Kitra." Venus Yanked Mercury away and shut the door. not giving either a chance to explain.
Slippers secured on her feet by Abyss who scooped her up into his arms. Somehow though, on the way to the bed Abyss slipped. On one of her discarded pieces of clothes, oops. And down they went on Abyss's bed in a tangle of arms and legs. "Owe," was about all Kitra could say before shr heard Mercury and Venus's voices and then a soft thud as the door was shut.
Kitra shoved tiredly at Abyss, "You're a bit heavy." She felt partially squeeshed and really tired. Kitra felt more then saw Abyss remove his person due to her yawning. "Don't apologize Abyss, my fault should have paid attention to where I threw my clothes." Kitra yawned again, "thanks for coming to get us. I don't think I thanked you before." Kitra then blinked sleepily at Abyss, "um I probably don't want to know. But, uh, you guys didn't manage to actually kill Zelek did you?"
Yesh what a lovely question for her to ask. And did she really want to know while she was attempting to sober up? Sure, why the heck not. She rubbed her eyes tiredly, "I hate that I'm attracted to him. But he was the first guy to actually see me, and not a freak." She managed a wry smile, "Then again, I suppose it helps that he was one as well." Kitra corrected herself, "Still is, just not aging now. Damn Hunter for his meddling." She yawned again as she eyed Abyss tiredly as her mind continued to prattle on while she wanted it to shut up.
Abyss removed himself quickly and would have done so sooner if he wasn’t concentrating on not smashing the poor girl beneath him.
“Sorry he apologized again.” Venus wouldn’t say a thing, But Mercury was going to have everyone thinking all sorts of things within minutes unless Venus took care of that for him, He might let him off the hook for the panty thing if he did. “ Any time Kitra, I mean that, you are one of us, and you’ve got a family here, if you want it.”
He shivered as he thought about what he saw before he left. Syn was wicked. She reveled in the mess she made of him, He preferred to wreck someone quickly and move on. “I...He survived the night. I left Syn, Jupiter and Zelek to it. He was oddly willing to let her take her stress out on him. It was disturbing to say the least. But yeah he’s alive.” He gently tucked Kitra in his bed. and made sure she would be comfortable. “Kitra, I won’t tell you who to like, but I will tell you, I can’t see him being any good for you. If you are a freak, then I am a monster and he an abomination. I’m pretty sure he isn’t the kid you fell for anymore. You deserve better kiddo.”
He patted her on the head and laid down on the pallet he had made himself. Ready to counsel Kitra as long as she cared to talk. At least her stomach seemed settled.
Kitra chuckled, "your brothers are complete goofballs." She smiled up at Abyss as he tucked her in. For one so big he was very gentle and careful. Her smile turned into a grimace as he recounted what had happened in the infirmary. Her words came out slowly and with as little emotion as she could make them. "He may like pain but what he allowed Syn to do." Kitra trailed off, she was quite glad she had passed out and had not seen the full horror of what had occurred.
Kitra rolled her eyes, "I know he is completely different then who he was prior to him being killed and then turned." She sighed and paused a few moments before continuing. "Still I can't help but feel attached to him in some ways." Kitra snorted, "It's silly I know. All he can do is cause me pain and grief even if it happens to be lustful."
A few minutes went by without her saying anything. Her mind kept jumping around, thinking on one thing before hoping to the next. She thought about Zelek, then Hunter, finally her thoughts ended up resting on Calley. She still hadn't seen him since she had been back. Finally she spoke up, "Abyss?" Her tone was thoughtful and questioning, "You know Calley right? Hunter hurt him didn't he? And how is he now? Have you seen him recently?"
Holy cripes when her mind went on a one mind track it went babbly question nuts. "Sorry, lots of questions at once." Kitra cleared her throat and scooted carefully to the side of Abyss's bed so she could look down at him while she was laying on her side. She blinked a few times and smiled sheepishly, "Yeah I guess I babble when I get drunk."
“That’s a nice way to put it.” Abyss grinned. His choice of words couldn’t be said in polite company however so he simply thought them in their general direction.
“It nauseates me to think about it. Whatever they did to her, it was bad. And she didn’t need to be made any meaner. She’s tough as nails and I’m not surprised she walked away, but I never pegged her for torturing someone that didn’t have it coming.”
Abyss looked at her as she peeked over the bed. “It’s not silly, it’s dangerous. I say it because its true and I care. It’s a hard habit to break, caring for someone who is bad news, but cut him loose, it’s the best thing you could do…or if you have to keep him, keep my number on speed dial and I’ll throw him to the moon, see how immortality treats him as he drifts through space.”A shiver went down his spine as he just realized he figured out how to handle immortals. Make them some other planets problem.
He thought she fell asleep and started to consider dozing himself, but there was a lot of underwear to be taken down from his walls in the bathroom.
“huh?” He replied thinking of when he used to slee in the living room with Syn and Deathstar and they would ask him all sorts of questions before dozing off.
“Yeah, I know Sinatra.” He smirked at the inside joke and hoped she forgot it by the morning. “ Calley is complicated. If hunter hurt him.” he was working at being subtle and discrete. “Then he survived it without much sticking to him. He’s strong, and apparently can out drink Jupiter. I haven’t seen him but Jup said the kid is doing well for himself.”
Abyss smiled up at her and laughed lightly. “I hadn’t noticed.” Girl needed to go to bed before she said or did anything embarrassing, she still had plenty of silly in her.
Kitra smiled tiredly, "It's good to know I have the big reds looking out for me." She snuggled even tighter into a ball and yawned. "Sinatra??" That made Kitra confused but her confusion quickly vanished as Abyss continued. "Well, it's good to know that Calley is okay and has a stomach the size of an ocean."
She chuckled right along with Abyss as he brushed aside the mention of her babbling. Her chuckling was brought up short by another yawn. "Thank you again for coming to get us." Her brain idly told her that was probably the third or fourth time she had said thank you. Couldn't hurt to say it a few times over though right? Very sleepily she added, "It's nice having an older brother around." Kitra blinked a few times as she tried to focus on Abyss, "You don't mind me calling you my big brother do you?" As Kitra waited for Abyss's answer she yawned again and felt herself drifting off towards an inky blackness that was sleep.
He grinned as she questioned the random mentioning of Sinatra and he didn’t elaborate. “I’m not sure his stomach has anything to do with it. but yes, I am glad to hear life is treating him well too."
“I don’t mind, but I wonder what Syn will think of it, she’s a bit territorial. I certainly don’t mind you thinking of me as one. Sleep tight.” Its what he was, it was what he did. He did his best to look out for those that needed him. He knew deep down the mass population thought of them as villains. but villains were just the heroes of your enemies.
He watched over her as she fell asleep and then allowed himself to drift off as well.
