The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After a nap, Sarah woke with the urge to do something artsy. Not one to stop herself, she picked up her art supplies bag and carried it up the two flights of stairs to the rooftop. Upon arriving in New York City and finding her apartment, she came upon a great view that her apartment building's roof gave. It was challenging for her, considering she always had trouble with shadows.
The scene her was sketching was of the buildings surrounding her. Some lights gave way to details she could add, though most lights were off, causing shadowed areas for her to practice with.
With her sketchpad in one hand and a piece of charcoal in the other, she started working on her shadow skills. As she sketched, she found herself thinking of different people she had seen after coming to the Big Apple. There were many she saw whom had hid themselves from the world, their emotions locked away. Others wore masks of people who others thought they were. She very rarely encountered someone whom let their emotions run on the surface without a filter.
"Guess I'm a little homesick," Sarah stated to the air. "I blame my brother... No reason to, but I will."
Sarah laughed to herself for her actions. When her bought of laughter ended, she got back to her charcoal sketch.

There was in time in Skydancer's life where she rarely, if ever, allowed herself a few hours just be relax. It was all training, homework and, in the short periods of time when she wasn't dedicated to those two things, family obligations. Coming to the city had taught her many new things, however, and one of those new things was the importance of actually taking time to herself. As important as training was, and she still spent a great deal of time at it, it wasn't the most important thing.
In tribute to her new life, Skydancer decided that this evening was one of those evenings that would be dedicated to herself. She had managed to achieve a sort of balance between work and play and now was a time for some of that play. All week she had spent training and working out, not only for the circus but also practicing martial arts. Now it was time to take some time especially for herself.
With a little rest and relaxation in mind, Skydancer packed her backpack full of food and supplies, as well as a nice book and prepared to find herself a perch. Many stories up, on a rooftop apartment building, she stopped and spread the blanket that was brought with her. She then proceeded to take out the dishes she had prepared (or stolen from the Mansion kitchen but it sounded better if she said prepared). Once her little feast was prepared, she sat cross legged on the blanket and began to eat.
The arrival of another person shocked the aspiring artist. She only noticed because of a few pigeons that had been sitting on the ledge had flown off. The disturbance caused Sarah to pause in her work. There was a slight fear that ran through her, but she stilled it. With a quick glance over her shoulder she saw that the door to the roof was still closed.
"Hello?" she called out quietly. "Is anyone there?"
With slow movements she stood up from her seat on the rooftop. She turned towards the area the pigeons had flown from. It was hunters knowledge that the birds flew away from danger. She waited as calmly as she could to find out who was there.

Skydancer simply couldn't regret her choice of either the day or location for her own little private picnic. It was just approaching evening and starting to cool just a little bit. The sun was shining, however, and the city could be seen many stories below her. She rarely bore any ill will towards humans, at least those who didn't try to hurt her or her fellow mutants, but sometimes she felt just a little bit bad for them. After all, how many of them would know the simple joys of a rooftop picnic?
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
Startled, Skydancer stopped what she was doing mid-bite. Paying attention to her surroundings was one of those things she was still working on mastering. Actually combat and martial arts she was getting the hang of, it was those other things that could, potentially, lead to bad situations that she was still struggling with.
Instantly aware that, up there, the voice could be dangerous, Skydancer got to her feet and turned around. What greeted her didn't look like someone potentially dangerous but, then again, sometimes these things couldn't be told by looks alone. "I'm sorry, you startled me. Can I help you?" She held her body taught and ready, just in case.
The person she saw was shadowed a little, but there were pieces of their body Sarah could see. The pieces she could pick out seemed to be tinted purple. It was a strange thing, but Sarah instantly remembered that she had seen many strange this since moving to New York.
>>"I'm sorry, you startled me. Can I help you?"
Sarah laughed lightly. "You actually startled me too. I didn't really want anything. I was just wondering if there was anyone else up here." Sarah thought for a moment. "Do you need to be alone? I can go back down to my apartment if you want."
Sarah cringed inwardly. She had been doing well with her shadow practice and wanted to continue, but she would leave if they wanted her to. The type of lighting she wanted for practice was fading every moment she stood talking, but she stayed where she was. Whoever was up here seemed to be alone and she couldn't get into much trouble with one person could she?
