The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Cafas cleaned up the room he was in, beat some wooden furniture into splinters and melted a few tables. some very bloodied office workers ran out, their security guard in the lead. Mirror fell into the scene bloody and hurt. Cafas didn't like that sight. The moto girl ran off with him, busting into a new room. Cafas joined the others. He had heard some of what Saph said. "I agree, we do need a system. I'm out of ideas on that front. For one, it seems someone might have an issue with me here, which isn't gonna help at all. Mirror looks pretty injured. I dunno, we need to clear this are quickly though. Maybe two teams, take one side each."
Other than that I'm kinda lost here, we have so much ground to cover...
Cafas got his shield up just in time to stop a variety of pen projectiles. They smashed themselves to pieces against the metal. a few flew off in a variety of interesting directions, the curve of his shield flinging them off randomly. He slammed his hammer into a projector, it fell apart. Suddenly the lights cut out, everything went, power was cut. most of the electrical assault team they had coming at them or plotting against them shut down. The lack of external windows was suddenly apparent. The light was dim, at best. They were near the middle of the building, on the first floor, and Cafas could barely see. "Oh great... Anyone got a torch?"
At least those emergency lights are still on, so we're not completely blind.
>> "Oy! Daft lad, gettin' yerself all bloodied up! If th' tables dornt kill ye, Ami might."
Gawain grunted at that, he knew full well he was going to get into trouble for this either way. For a moment he also thought about Ami somewhere in the building, and hoped Streak and Jorge could keep her safe. Emerald approached him and Gawain understood a split second early what she was about to do.
"Hey, no, I can..."
>>"I don't care if you can walk."
And with that Gawain was picked up bridal style and carried out of the room, Emmy still kicking stuff all the way. The young knight made a face and protested, demanding to be put down until she placed him down outside the room.
>>“This mission is more obnoxious than it need to be,”
"Tell me about it." he muttered, scrambling to his feet and wiping his face, which just caused it to look more bloody and dirty.
>>"We gotta get some sorta routine set up, here. Gotta get organized if we want to do this without getting tore up. You alright Gawain? Look like I feel after a good night of drinking."
"This is nothing like I feel after drinking." Gawain smirked at Saphirus, adjusting the straps of his archery gear, making sure they were not cut by the glass.
>>"What's the plan?"
"Um..."
>> "I agree, we do need a system. I'm out of ideas on that front. For one, it seems someone might have an issue with me here, which isn't gonna help at all. Mirror looks pretty injured. I dunno, we need to clear this are quickly though. Maybe two teams, take one side each."
"I'm fine" Gawain said, more steady this time, looking around to assess the situation. It was a pretty strong team, but they did need a system.
"All right, two by two. Caff, you open the door, Emmy, you fight off the furniture and get the people out. Becca, Saph, same on the other side, combine your powers if you need. I'll be right here directing people to the exits and keepin' an eye out for trouble. Let's go."
And with that, the lights went out.
>>"Oh great... Anyone got a torch?"
Some emergency lights flickered on, but it was far from ideal. Still, trading that for the lack of being electrocuted sounded like a solid deal to Gawain.
"No windows in here" he noted "The rooms should be lighter. If there is not enough light... make some windows."

Rebecca was growing more concerned about their mission, if for nothing else than the disarray their team was in. Em and CJ did not exactly sound on the best terms, and Mirror was cut up and carried by the resident werewolf. Tension in a stressful situation was not an ideal working condition.
>> "All right, two by two. Caff, you open the door, Emmy, you fight off the furniture and get the people out. Becca, Saph, same on the other side, combine your powers if you need. I'll be right here directing people to the exits and keepin' an eye out for trouble. Let's go."
Thank God for Mirror; they needed a plan, and splitting into teams sounded like the most logical bet. Rebecca did not know Saph well, (which was apparent as she watched the man hit himself repeatedly with a crowbar,) but she had no qualms about working with him.
Just as things were starting to make sense, the lights in the building went out, leaving the team in the dark. Even the back-up lights did little to help.
>> "No windows in here" he noted "The rooms should be lighter. If there is not enough light... make some windows."
Rebecca nodded; keeping a light in the room was important, even if it meant breaking a wall. "Understood." She turned to the room she and Saph were assigned to.
Bracing her shield, Rebecca decided she was best of knowing what her teammate could do. "So what exactly is your mutation, Saph?"
After receiving his answer, Rebecca held her shield in front of her body. "Well, ready when you are." She focused the magnetic field around her body and her shield, and with Saph's okay, plowed her shield through the door, unhinging it and allowing them access to the room.
Cafas received his orders, and much as he may not have liked the pairing it made a lot of sense. The girl seemed to be super strong, and he was pretty talented at the whole break and enter thing, so him breaking down doors and her mulching furniture seemed logical. He'd have preferred to be with Saph but he wasn't complaining. "Roger that, boss." Cafas strode into the darkness. He heard shield girl ask a question. "Haha the short version if you please old man, we have a job to do." He wasn't sure if his cheeky wink got through.
Alright, break a door, bust a wall.
Cafas got right on that. He looked to his team-mate. "Ready?" When she was Cafas melted the lock mechanism and rammed his shoulder into the door. It opened easily, but he could see very little, so, without pausing, he ran forward, and smashed his hammer into the wall, demolishing a goodly portion of it, and letting light from the window in the next room over flood in. Another swing for good measure before he turned back to the room.
Damn...
In one corner there was a group of people, trying desperately to fight off the furniture, though it seemed to be a losing battle. In another was a slumped and bloodied body. Cafas couldn't tell if it was alive, but the furniture had left it alone for now. "Wreck that stuff, I'll get the unconscious one out of here!" He gave out the orders the same as he would expect her to give him orders, team-mate to team-mate, just to clarify everyone's role. He then ran over, picked up the unconscious figure, and ran out. He unloaded the person onto a guy that was feeing one of the other rooms. "Get this person to the ambulances!"
Cafas ran back into the room and helped Emerald do some demolition work on the furniture. "If you lot see an opening, feel free to take it." Terrified people seemed to be bad at logic...
Once the lights went out, Emerald had this gut feeling that things wouldn't go all that well if the group didn't start finding more people soon. Maybe it was because she wasn't working well with others but to be honest, she didn't really know Sapphirus or Cafas and without knowing a person she had a hard time taking them seriously. Not only that but she had a habit of preferring someone she actually knew giving her a suggestion than a complete stranger. Perhaps it was an Alpha thing, but she didn't like any unknown male giving her orders.
Thankfully, Mirror gave out some orders which made the werewolf smile to herself. Mirror was the kind of person she would listen to, only because he was now not only an experienced member of the X-men but a pack mate as well.
"Got it," The werewolf replied, giving a nod of approval to this whole plan. She moved up beside her partner and once he looked over to her to give the signal, she gave it and down went the door in a beautiful crash. Right as the door crashed to the ground, the wolf girl shifted into her wolf form, barreling into action.
Most people were of course terrified to see the wolf, rightfully so considering her massive size, but the one good thing about this is that she managed to herd some of them right out the door as if they were a bunch of scared sheep. The wolf inwardly smirked, just as she heard Cafas give out a quick order. This, she was okay with, because she was already planning on wrecking crap anyways.
The wolf lunged at the furniture, far stronger in this form than she was in her human form. She tore harshly into a chair, exerting all her jaw strength into crushing it's wooden seat, throwing it up against the wall to shatter it. The Alpha female was even more of a force to be reckoned with in this form and it showed, judging by the destruction she was doing on the furniture. Cafas soon came by her side and began helping her, which she didn't mind too terribly, , a few more ways to smash these evil coffee pots was fine with her.
The wolf noticed that some of the terrified people didn't seem to be moving out of the room all that well which caused her to let out a puff of air as a sigh. With a quick leap over to their side, the werewolf snarled at them and let out a harsh bark, feigning anger in order to get them moving. Unsurprisingly, the threat of a massive wolf with red and black fur seemed to work and the people were starting to get more easily herded out of the room. She was personally surprised they didn't herd out earlier with the first group.
Emerald took this chance to rejoin at Cafas' side tossing a chair to the side with her massive jaws. Destruction of this furniture was a lot more fun than it really should have been.

The masochist was hitting himself; he had a feeling he might need an extra boost in the coming moments. Mirror made some calls; it was smart to divide them into small groups, especially the pairing up of a metal manip with a brawler type in each group. Part of him thought he might be better paired with Cafas, since he and Emerald seemed to have some sort of issue with each other, but the new girl had the range to retrieve his crowbar, and perhaps having them work together would ease the tension between them?
It really didn't matter, to be honest; he was sure both of them were adult enough not to let that kind of stuff get in the way.
The lights went out. He looked up as the emergency generator kicked in, allowing some dim lighting. It would be enough to make out the difference between human and intimate shapes at least.
"We shouldn't need to worry about light; I can work in perfect darkness if need be." He spoke to the new girl, who inquired about his powers. "Not a lot of time to explain now... Half of me is invulnerable,"he motioned to his right side, "so you can use it as cover if you need. The other side hits hard. I can also feel when things are moving; that should be enough for now, yeah?" He turned toward their selected room, and nodded to give her the go ahead, and she smacked her shield into the door, which complained loudly, and then fell. He was in the room immediately, and was greeted with the vague low-light vision of a struggle.
His sixth sense told him that there were two moving humans in the room, his eyes told him there was another very still one on the ground. A projectile he was willing to bet was a bill file was flying at one of the struggling figures, and his crowbar zipped through the air to stop it. He soon followed it, kicking aside a computer monitor that tried to get in his way. This close he could see that the struggling people seemed to be wrapped in a cable of a sort. He held out his hand so that Rebecca could return his crowbar to him, and smacked it down on the desk, severing one of the cords. The other he poked with his finger, sending enough energy to sever it. The people fell to the ground as the cords went lax, and the desk stared bucking wildly. He stilled it with his right hand, retrieved his crowbar from the desk, smacked a picture frame that had been flying at the back of his head, and then cracked the desk in half with an energy assisted blow.
It was then that everything on the walls decided to fly at him at once. He ushered the people, still gasping for breath, toward the door as he relied on his sixth sense to knock the many thumb tacks, motivationals, and other miscellaneous things from the air as they came, not even bothering to look at the things he was hitting. The two reached Rebecca, and Saph kneeled down to grab the third, still one. A bill file hit him in the right arm, and bounced off harmlessly. He gave it a solid kick, and headed out the door. "We can't be knocking the doors down from now on; gotta make it so we can close em after." He made it to the door, and set the man down, beating at a phone that tried to follow him out.
A quick check of the man's vitals told him that the prognosis was bleak; he'd been stabbed in the heart by a bill file. At least they'd gotten there in time to save the others, who were now trying to revive their fallen coworker. With a sullen frown on his face, he turned to the scott. He wasn't sure if she'd ever seen a dead person before, but it was a fact of life in their line of work; there were some people you just couldn't save in time. "We gotta get to the next door." He placed a hand on the nearest victim's shoulder as he gave up on CPR, and pointed to the cut up and bloodied mirror down the hall. "I'm sorry, but you have to leave... He can show you to safety."
The next room was a conference room, with a chorus of screaming coming from it. They had to hurry!
Everyone was doing their job now, so Gawain took a moment to lean against the wall and check his injuries. None of them was deep enough to be an immediate concern, but he did lose some blood that made him dizzy, and if he did not get healed before midnight shifting was going to be a b*tch.
Looking up he listened to the sounds of shattering furniture. He had a good team. A great team, actually, even two by two, working together effectively as real X-men should. He made a mental note to train more with all of them.
People started fleeing the rooms, and Gawain pushed himself away from the wall to point them in the right direction, walking with them until he was sure they could make it outside.
"Tell the police not ot come in" he told them "There is nothing they can do in here. Tell them to keep the entrances open, there will be more people coming out."
With that said, he limped back to the corridor to keep an eye on the teams. Minutes ticked by. Gawain touched his X-comm.
"Mirror to the evac teams. Anyone got our guy yet? We can't keep this up forever." he waited for a few moments "Streak? Shin? Be careful. We are in over our heads. Report when you've got something."

The relentless self-assault made more sense once Saph put his dual-sided nature into context. Even better, he was not just a receiver and and amplifier, but a sensor. He was not alone in a sense; Rebecca could detect watches, earrings and angry metal supplies.
Rebecca shielded herself and Saph from stray attacks while he focused on rescuing the wrapped people. She noticed his crowbar and summoned it back to him, doing her best to be as useful as possible. He saved the two cable-captives, sending them to her so she could shield them on their way out to mirror.
But there was already another man on the ground. Saph did his best to save him, but Rebecca eventually understood that there was nothing left they could do, and Saph might have even been trying for her benefit. It was surreal, and saddening, but she knew this was a possibility. She would deal with the feelings she was repressing later, but there was not enough time for it.
Just before following Saph into the next room, Rebecca closed the dead man's eyes. She believed it was the respectful thing to do when you could not make it in time to do anything else.
Taking Saph's advice about not busting down the door, she instead focused on magnetically pushing open the handle against the building's will. With the door unlocked, she shoved her shoulder into it, opening it without any structural damage.
At a quick glance, she counted seven people screaming, pinned to a wall by a long conference table. By the sounds of their screams, it was pressing progressively harder against them, so time was, as always, working against them.
A large wall mounted monitor wasted no time un-mounting and flying at Rebecca. It hit her shield and she shifted to the right, letting it glance off and fly into the wall. A set of pens flew at her from behind, which would have been very problematic, but the backpiece of Rebecca's chestplate protected her. She would have to be more careful.
One option to consider was breaking the table, or at least find a way to move it, but both of those plans involved strength Rebecca lacked.
But...
"Um, Saph, dae ye feel pain on yer right?"
"Help!"
Well, there was no time to wait for an answer, but she was pretty sure she understood the logic behind his power.
Rebecca tossed her shield like a discus at Saph's arm, and when it bounced off, she had it spin back and strike again. She repeated this process ten times, pounding Saph's body with a heavy metal shield at high speed.
They approached the next room with a gentler hand, at least when it came to the door, and they were in immediately. Saph crushed an intercom system that flew his way, and went about disabling the chairs in the conference room quickly as Rebecca assessed the situation.
A grin formed on his face as he heard the timid question. "Um, Saph, dae ye feel pain on yer right?" Nearly cut off by a cry for help, he felt the rush of a heavy impact, and the transfer of amplified energy into his body. He was finishing off the chairs as the blows rained in, and with each one his grin widened a little until his arm was buzzing.
"Heh... you give the nicest gifts..." In the blink of an eye he was sliding underneath the table, which was very close to causing some serious damage to the people it pinned. The experienced X-man trainee stood in place, his left palm leading in the climb, and sending out the energy the striking shield had gifted.
With a loud CRRRRAAAACK, the table flew back and up in two parts, each landing in shambles. The people mostly collapsed where they were, Leading Saph to step up and dance about taking out any objects that tried to harm them. In a hobbly, yet somehow smooth and calculated series of movements, he became a practical wall in front of the business men and women until they could recover.
It wasn't too long before things stopped coming, and Saph allowed himself to wipe the sweat from his brow, and lean on his knees.
"Ah.... ah.... alright... Next room, huh?" Maybe he was getting old... Nah, he still had another ten years in him at least, right? "Yeh... Let's go." He assisted Rebecca in getting the people out of the room, and directing them to Gawain, and then lined up at the next door. If it meant saving all of the people left in this building, he would grind himself into the ground and get up for more... Why? He was an X-man... It was his job...
Kool-aid was his first thought as to what happened next. The wall in front of him exploded outward, into the room they had just finished clearing of people. Whatever flew out of it nailed him good and proper in the chest. Something gave, he had a feeling it wasn't whatever had just hit him. Breathing go instantly more painful. It crushed him firmly against the opposite wall. Cafas... still had no idea what it was from looking at it. He was sure it was important and businessy.
Hammer...
His hammer was sitting on the floor, if somewhat embedded, where he had been standing. He could feel the angle his arm was at. That needed to go back in place, and get healed so it wasn't a permanent nuisance. He pushed the miscellaneous piece of office equipment off of him, where it flailed on its side, unable to regain its footing. Cafas stood to face the room.
Oh that's not good.
He was completely unhappy with the image in front of him. Through the hole in the wall was a totally trashed, and mercilessly empty room. Well, empty but for that golem of furniture that had just thrown what was easily three hundred pounds of thingy though a wall with enough force to bust Cafas up good like. "Hey, Em," Was that her name? "Could you put my shield arm back into its socket so I can return this mothe..." Whoa there boyo... watch the tongue. I will spare you that one, suffice to say it was multiple words, none flattering. "... The favour he just did me?"
The wolf and the boy with the hammer had managed to do quite a bang up job clearing out the room of all it's inhabitants as well as the furniture that resided in it. The large she-wolf was about to call it a job well done if it wasn't for the fact that something decided to burst it's way into the room. Not only that but said mysterious thing decided it really had a hate on for the duo's pink haired hammer master and decided to wreck his arm with whatever it threw at him. Once the dust clear the wolf was able to see what sort of creature it was and quickly realized what exactly she was up against.
Emerald dug her paws into the posh carpet, her body crouched and ready as the golem took one step toward her. Sure, she knew she would have to help Cafas put his arm back in place, but she couldn't exactly do with with a massive golem making it's way toward her and Cafas. Besides, it would be rude to ignore some creature when they so desperately wanted attention. It had begun to make it's way into the room and if it got any closer to them, Emerald would not be able to help him relocate his arm.
"In a minute, " The wolf quickly growled out, though her voice didn't come out as clearly as she would like to. In wolf form she could only say a few words at the most, so a quick statement like that wouldn't strain her too much.
With her massive strength, the wolf charged the Golem, using her sheer strength and size to knock it backwards with a single, full forced lunge. Emerald was bigger than most wolves and heavier, but while she didn't weight as much as the golem she was able to knock him back through the hole. This didn't mean she didn't take damage however, even with tackling the creature the proper way to exert as much force as possible, it still was going to ache a little bit later. That and landing on top of the thing after it toppled to the ground through the hole wasn't the most pleasant feeling.
After a few moments of disorientation, Emerald jumped off the thing as it reached over to grab her with it's massive hand. The stapler tipped fingers barely missed grabbing the she-wolf by her tail as she darted back over to Cafas' side. Emerald shifted into human form and took one look at the out of socket arm, before she relocated the thing.
Did Emerald do it gently?
Nope, but anyone who knew the wolf girl should have expected it, it was a harsh relocation that was given virtually no warning beforehand. It was quick though, Emerald having done this a few times before to herself and to others so she had a good idea of what she was doing.
"Sorry, don't have time to be gentle, " Emerald explained as the Golem righted itself back up. "Go ahead and avenge your dislocated arm. I got your back."
With that, Emerald shifted back into wolf form, just so she would be strong enough to handle anything, better be safe than sorry after all.
No answer came from the other end of the time. Gawain cursed. If they heard that, all the better. Things were getting serious.
Another bunch of people were safe.
"Out! Move! That way!" he showed them the way and followed them to the lobby to make sure no stray furniture sneaked its way there to cut the exit. People were running without him telling them to. Good.
He made it back to the corridor just in time to see Cafas' arm put back to place. The sound alone made him wince. He was sure he would take revenge for that on whatever was rampaging in the next room. Becca and Saph seemed to be getting along like a house... well. Scratch that idea.
Talking about fire... Gawain blinked as dust fell into his eyes and nose. Gah. Wiping his eyes with his non-bloody hand he looked up... just to see a ragged crack spreading across the ceiling like an evil snake.
"Oh sh*t."
Power chords broke free from the ceiling. There was no power in them, but the hissed and whipped around none the less like snakes let free from a box.
"Watch out!"
The others were in and out of the rooms, partly covered. Not enough. The bow flew from his shoulder. One. Two. Three.
Chords were pinned to the ceiling, struggling against the arrows that struck them. Gawain let loose two more for good measure and safety. Better not waste more.
"I. Am f*** Legolas." he muttered. His drawing arm was bleeding again. Oh joy.

Rebecca could hear shouting around the building, which was not a surprise considering the situation, but she could also pick out familiar shouting. One was the nice guy that gave Rebecca her shield, and he sounded like he was in a lot of pain, which was not promising. Mirror also shouted a "Watch out!" which was also not comforting. Rebecca felt the momentary desire to return and help her teammates, but more screaming could be heard in the next room. Mirror and Cafas were X-Men and could handle themselves, especially with Emerald around.
The room was... a break room? After the conference rooms and offices, it was almost unfamiliar to be in such a casual area.
Unfortunately, the casual room had the same attitude problems as its mature, professional siblings.
There were problems they were already familiar with (tables and chairs flying around) and problems that posed new challenges (silverware, microwaves, snack machines, the fridge... the list could understandably continue longer than anyone would care to read.)
The refrigerator was focusing on a man who seemed to be alive but barely conscious on the floor, slamming its door on the man's head. Rebecca ran over to help the man, but stopped in her tracks when she sensed small pieces of metal quickly approaching her. Not a moment too soon, she extended her hand to stop the forks and knives (and one spoon, it was worth mentioning) from reaching her.
What came next was a sensation of cold so sudden it was almost painful. The spray hose of the sink was pointing at her and spraying her with cold water. It was unpleasant, but thankfully not deadly.
As it would turn out, a snack machine could be. Rebecca had let herself get distracted by the water long enough for a snack machine to slide at her. Noticing it moments before collision, Rebecca raised her shield, but it did almost as much harm as good, shattering the glass.
Rebecca was knocked back and several pieces of glass cut her arms and her cheek. If not for her shield and her armor, the situation could have been much worse.
And so it would become! Everything in the room was operating as a hive-mind, so the snack machine shared the same plan as the microwave power cord she was now in range of. The cord wrapped itself around Rebecca's neck and began to tighten. Rebecca started pulling at the cord, which was thin and tightly wound, making it hard for her to get a hold on.
She hoarsely shouted, "Saph!" She hated that she had let herself get into a stupid damsel in distress situation, but there was no time for self-pity.
Saph entered the room alongside Rebecca, his crowbar clenched tightly in his hands. He hobble charged forward to save the man being attacked by the fridge, just like her, but wasn't interrupted by the barrage of flying silverware that assaulted them; he just let them bounce off of his right side harmlessly. The fridge delivered another heart knock to the floored man's head, making his movement cease. Once he was close enough, he used a bit of force to bounce himself up, and send a hefty drop kick at the fridge's side, expending the rest of the force he'd gathered into it. A metal groan was head as the fridge slid back, a painful looking dent in it's side.
The experienced vigilante landed on his feet, and immediately checked on the KOed man... he was out cold... snoring, even... He resisted the urge to chuckle; the man may be hurt, but it looked as though he'd just gotten a few good knocks on the noggin while making coffee; the pot was still clenched tightly in his hand.
Saph was about to wake the man when he felt Rebecca go down behind him, and turned to see the predicament she was in when she cried for help. His hand pulled back, and lashed out, sending the crowbar flying through the air.
THWACK! It embedded itself into the back of the microwave, severing the cord, but not quite disabling the device. The cord went limp as he hobbled toward the machine, winching as a spoon smacked into his temple, leaving a small gash. His hand caught a fork aiming for the same spot, and threw it into the wall as he finally reached the snack machine. A grab of the top of the heavy machine, a deep grunt, and a hearty heave later, and the machine fell onto its back with a loud crash. He turned away from the mess in time for the crippled microwave to smack into him.
