The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jacob Black is in fact a mutant with the amazing power of transforming his body into a diamond. This would be amazing, except for the fact that his parents think rather negatively on mutants. Due to what his family always heard from the church, mutants are workers of Satan sent to destroy the human race. The teenager didn't believe it, but his parents fully accepted it.
When Jacob was exposed as a mutant right in front of his church, his family had reached a religious pot hole. His parents couldn't believe that their one and only son is a mutant; 'The spawn of Satan'. They tried everything to get rid of the mutation; prayers, exorcisms, doctors and even forcing guilt on him. None of them worked on the poor adolescent and his parents were in complete distress.
Eventually, they had a meeting with the priest of the church and this was the advice given to them. "Jacob is a good boy and I think that even though he has this hideous deformity, if he controls it and repents his soul can still be saved." This solution now presents itself, but exactly where was he going to go to master and contain this mutation? After doing a bit of research, Jacob's parents have found a school that helps mutants control their powers in New York. This new option has been taken into careful consideration and after a few days of thinking about it, they had decided to take a bus to New York.
Jacob, in that time had been quite terrified of all the mixed emotions he was getting. He still knows that his parents are only concerned for him and love their child with all their heart.
When they actually got to the school it was morning. They had bags containing some of the teenager's personal items which clearly stated to Jacob that he would not return home for a long time. Jacob looked behind him and saw both of his parents following right behind him with a warm but nervous expression on their face. He responded back with a meek smile and the three walked pass the gates and to the door, opening it hoping to find something that will help the adolescent.

Gina had a love-hate relationship with religious zealots. She hated them when they were armed, and of the violent/activist persuasion. It had been that sort that had gotten her shot at and nearly killed. She loved them when they were unarmed, however, because she found sport in making the rude ones (and occasionally, the polite ones) blatantly uncomfortable with her presence. Of course, Gina never expected those sort of encounters at Xavier’s. At Xavier’s, she was amongst family and friends—she wasn’t a monster, or a demon, or a little winged freak (unless you happened to ask Hokee, but that was besides the point)—Gina was herself. Gina was the chipper, cheerful little gargoyle that liked just about everyone, and just about everyone couldn’t help but like. Even people who hated her grew to tolerate her.
Gina, being the undying social butterfly that she was, made a point of knowing everyone. Her absolute favorite tended to be new kids. New kids, totally frightened of the new situation (and occasionally, uncertain about who, what, and where they were) could generally use that shock to their system that came with seeing someone so drastically mutated as she, yet just as drastically kind. Thus, it came as no surprise that Gina was lingering in the foyer, conversing with others as they passed, but in general just hanging out. She had nothing better to do, nowhere better to be, thus she was fulfilling the role of unofficial greeter. An unfamiliar face, flanked by two people that could only be his relatives—had Gina known that they were religious zealots, she might have thought twice about skipping over to them, but… Gina never thought twice.
All rainbows and sunshine, she skipped over to them and came to an abrupt halt, donning a warm, welcoming smile. Horned, bat-winged, grey-skinned gargoyle child, meet mutant-child and mutant-hating parents.
“Hello,” Gina greeted, “My name’s Gina, are you new?”
Jacob's parents seemed to enjoy the sight of the place for all of two seconds. A girl who resembled something like a gargoyle skipped up happily to greet the family. This gave them quite the shock and the thoughts of mutants being the spawn of the devil had never been as clear as was right then and there to them. This even gave a slight impression to Jacob because he knew that his parents would think of him as the equivalent of this girl.
Still, Jacob gave the grace of taking a second to analyze this girl and realized that she doesn't seem all to harmful. He at the very least gave the the courtesy of a reply. "Uh- yes I am." The response was short and just audible enough for Gina to hear. After a few awkward seconds of silence, Jacob introduced himself. "Oh uh, my name is Jacob. Jacob Black."
Just as Jacob finished his introduction, his father said to the gargoyle-like mutant "Do you know where the head master is. We're here to enroll our son." The older man said, trying to avoid all eye contact with the girl. Jacob's mother on the other hand couldn't stop staring at the girl; she practically couldn't believe her eyes.
Jacob gave a meek smile to Gina and inclined his head in respect to her while his parents tried to avoid other mutants.

Gina paused at the looks upon the faces of the trio of arrivals. The boy seemed blatantly uncertain, the father was averting his eyes while the mother stared openly at her. Obviously, they were new to the “mutant” bit. Gina was the perfect shock to the system.
The boy shyly introduced himself as “Jacob Black”, and Gina smiled politely to him.
“Nice to meet you, Jacob,” Gina replied lightly, before turning her attention to the parents that stood before her. Now for the real fun, “Oh yes, I know where the headmaster’s office is. I’ll take you there.” She extended her right hand for a handshake, drawing close enough that it’d be hard for the father to look away without turning his head, “Nice to meet you, Mr. Black, Mrs. Black—I’m Gina, the unofficial greeter.”
As she said their names, she switched from offering her hand to the father, to the mother. Even if they didn’t shake her hand, Gina didn’t waver for a moment. You had to be all up in peoples’ faces, or else they’d just be uncertain of you forever. Once she’d greeted the parents, she returned her attention to Jacob.
“Alright, let’s jet,” she grinned, assuming a spot in front of the parents, but beside Jacob, “So… how’s your day been?”
When Gina presented a handshake to Jacob's father, he couldn't decide whether to reach for it or to keep his arms at the side. After a few seconds of his contemplation, he ultimately decided to blatantly ignore the hand shake. Being clear with his decision, Jacob's mother decided to follow and not accept the girl's handshake. Jacob knew it was rather rude, but he still respects them in their opinion.
Gina directed her attention towards Jacob “Alright, let’s jet- So… how’s your day been?” She started walking right beside the adolescent with his parents following behind.
"Ah um- it's been alright. I slept on the bus on the way here and I woke up just about an hour ago." Jacob said quietly with a voice just above the loudness of a whisper. He wasn't good at conversations or social interaction in general, but now someone was actually making a conversation with him. He felt as if it was his obligation to continue.
His head was inclined to the ground while walking, following where Gina directed the family of three to go. Just before Jacob could say anything his mother, Helena, asked a question to the gargoyle-like girl "Are we going the right way?" The question was asked as if she felt like she was being tricked. Jacob only kept his mouth closed and waited for a response.

Oh yeah, his parents were keepers. The father stared at Gina’s hand as if it were about to jump out and bite his own, and opted not to shake her hand. Jacob’s mom followed suit. They knew that this was a school for mutant’s, right? Obviously not…
Jacob offered a quiet reply, his answer just barely sputtering out of his mouth. Gina smiled at him. Shy ones were the absolute best. They were more of a challenge to get to warm-up a little.
“Xavier’s is a really cool place,” Gina assured him, “I think you’ll like it. Totally mutant-friendly. And totally chill, just like real school.”
Of course, the school was open to humans, but… no humans came to the school. It was safe to assume that new kids were mutants. But there were plenty of children with parents who’d rather their kid was human.
Speaking of the parents, the mother spoke-up uncertainly, doubting Gina’s sense of direction.
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Black,” Gina said in a condescendingly sweet tone, “I wouldn’t lead you astray.”
She returned her attention to Jacob, still conversational, “Whereabouts are you from, Jake? I’m all the way from California, you could probably tell-“ Gina’s Californian affect was undeniable in her tone, “-Came over to Xavier’s last winter.”
As Jacob was lead by Gina, he observed the halls of the school and paid attention the the compliments given to it. The teenager had never heard of a school that completely accepts mutants, then again it could be due to the fact that he came from a Catholic school that shuns mutants. This got Jacob rather fascinated and even a bit excited to be in a community that would accept him.
Gina assured to Helena that she was leading them the right way and Jacob believed her without a doubt. His parents on the other hand were still skeptical on this girl who, to them, resembled a devil.
“Whereabouts are you from, Jake? I’m all the way from California, you could probably tell. Came over to Xavier’s last winter.” Gina asked Jacob. He didn't know how far other students came from just to come to the place. Perhaps there were people who lived even father then Gina did.
Jacob made an effort to stitch a sentence properly and more audibly "Uh- I came here from Ottawa. It was a rather long trip on the bus to get here." He didn't know what to say after that. The Lack of social experience has got the best of him and he struggled to find some sort of topic to discus. "-So uh, what's it like here?" His voice shriveled slightly to being only more audible then a whisper. A meek smile from the young boy was given before he waited for a response.

“Wow, Ottawa?” Gina echoed. She didn’t know where Ottawa was, truth be told, but if was a long trip, it had to be far away, right? Right. On top of that, Gina was busy being sociable. It’d be awkward to say, ‘Oh, Ottawa… where is that?’
>> "-So uh, what's it like here?"
This one was a quiet one. Maybe he’d get along well with Darren? Agnes and Becca would probably be nice to him as well. They’d get this boy to open up in no time. Gina glanced towards the boy, caught his shy smile, and she reflected the smile back, except with an air of casual warmth.
“In the way of schools, it’s relatively small, but close-knit,” Gina explained, “The teachers are pretty chill, some of them are X’s but I’m not sure who is-” Everyone knew of the X-Men, but it was so run-of-the-mill at Xavier’s that Gina was rather offhanded about that detail, “Everyone’s really accepting about mutations, and I’d say ninety-seven percent of the people here are mutants themselves. Other than that… normal school. I’m sure you’ll be just fine.”
The final reassurance was uttered with a knowing tone and a grin. Everyone was nervous in such an unfamiliar situation. The shy kids were even more frightened than the outgoing ones.

Ooc: Feel free to have the thread progress at your own leisure, since it is your thread. ^_^ Gina can talk for days, given the opportunity.
Jacob was over joyed to hear the positive review of the school by Gina. He truly thought of her as honest in the words she gave him and became more calm in the sense that he was moving into the place. A few turns in the hallway here and there passed by some rooms, furthering their progress towards where the head master would be.
The teenage boy knew that other people had these mutations like him, but Gina was really the first person he met face-to-face with one. He couldn't help but ask her more of her mutation "So Uh, what is your mutation-?" Jacob asked a bit nervously because he knew that some people would be offended if they were asked about mutations. He also didn't want to sound retarded because he thought there was something else to the physical mutation in her. Jacob speculated that perhaps there is some special talent she had with her.
"-er, I mean uh. I mean, is there any- talents you can do?" He asked the gargoyle-like girl, stumbling in his own words. This time when he spoke, he tried to make eye contact with Gina, but still, he remained rather in-confident with his sentence.

>> "So Uh, what is your mutation-? -er, I mean uh. I mean, is there any- talents you can do?"
The boys’ stammered inquiries earned a laugh. A genuine, reassuring laugh. At least he had the courage to ask her questions. Gina would give him that much.
“Well, my mutation doesn’t go farther than what you see,” Gina explained, her wings fluttering slightly as they were spoken of, “And yes, the wings are real, I can in fact fly-” One would think that such a feat, such an inquiry, was a ‘no-duh’ sort of thing, but the question was incredibly common. Her tail flicked an curled absently, “Beyond that… I’m pretty good at sewing. Modify all my clothes myself.”
She tilted her glowing gaze towards him, still smiling, as she countered, “What’s your mutation? What are your talents?”
Some kids were very private about who they really were, and Gina thought that to be stuff and nonsense. Why hide your mutation? It shouldn’t be an embarrassment. People should wear what they were proudly, or at least fake it.
Jacob had never heard of someone who is as unique as Gina is. To some people like his parents, seeing something completely new could be scary, but to Jacob it was fascinating. He really hoped that he made a good impression on the girl because he sees them being friends; something Jacob has rarely had.
“What’s your mutation? What are your talents?” Jacob was a bit shy to the question because this is such a change from his life back home. As a mutant, he had to hide his powers and was completely ashamed that he had it. Here, Jacob could be open about his powers and it wouldn't really matter.
With a smile, Jacob gave his response "Well-uh, I've seen a few doctors and professionals about my mutation and apparently, I can turn myself into a diamond. Like, my body keeps it's shape, but it's a diamond." he told Gina about his condition. His parents simply stood a few steps back, noticing that he had some confidence speaking about this topic openly. They did want confidence in their child, but not with his mutations, he came here to control and properly hide them.
A few more steps here and there and suddenly, Jacob blurted out something without thinking properly "Do you wanna see?" The teenager boy himself couldn't believe that he, himself would suggest that, but he got too excited with this talk about what once was taboo in his life. He really couldn't hide the temptation of asking the question.

>> "Well-uh, I've seen a few doctors and professionals about my mutation and apparently, I can turn myself into a diamond. Like, my body keeps it's shape, but it's a diamond."
Gina smiled, “How useful. I like it.”
Being a gargoyle had its practicalities, of course. But… being a diamond was way-cooler. Because then you could be sparkly, which was far more awesome than being a bat-winged gargoyle. Gina spared a glance back at the two parents, to make sure they weren’t entirely abandoned, before glancing back towards Jacob.
>> "Do you wanna see?"
Gina nodded, before adding on, “But only if you’re okay with it.”
Jacob once again gave a meek smile before allowing the group to stop for him to preform his talent. He thought that by then, his parents would stop him from presenting it, but they kept quiet and watched.
"Here it goes." Jacob said quietly. The adolescent simply stared directly at Gina while undergoing this transformation. First, his forehead made the first step of the transformation by establishing it's presence. The transparent part of Jacob slowly spread out as if it were an infection on the skin. This transition crept along the teenager's face and took over his head, turning it into a solid diamond first. Even his hair follicles have even started transforming when it was reached.
From there, not much of the transformation is seen because only his hands were visible but sure enough, even they turned into diamond. Jacob's entire body had been turned into one huge, translucent, precious stone. The transition itself took only five seconds to occur, but Jacob gave himself a few seconds to relax before allowing himself to revert back to his normal form.
After turning back into his normal form, he faced Gina and said "Eh, heh, so uh, that's it." He heard some whispers from his parents and heard enough to know that they were disappointing that their openly advertises that he is a mutation. In respect to his parents, Jacob put his head down bit at an angle before saying "Um, we should continue"

Gina took a step back as the new kid paused, uncertain of how far the transformation would extend. Jacob announced the beginning of the shift, and Gina nodded to show that she was ready to see it.
“Okay,” Gina said with a smile. She watched as he gradually transitioned from a normal teenager to what could only be described as a teen-aged disco ball. The shift first overcame Jacob’s face, then cascaded downward. Gina watched as his hands, and Gina grinned.
It didn’t last long, and Jacob quickly reverted to looking human again, awkwardly announcing the finale of the show, and requesting they continue onward, ducking his head. Gina glanced back at the parents, before returning her attention to Jacob.
The two began to walk once more, and Gina elbowed the new kid lightly.
“Your power’s really cool,” Gina reassured him, “Nothing to be embarrassed about.”
Gina’s gaze cut towards the parents implicatively.
As the group started walking, the feeling of guilt started to lurk in the mind of Jacob. This guilt was from the fact that he knew his parents were proud that he demonstrated his mutation openly. The school was to help him control his mutation so that the effect wouldn't happen, even on his reflexes. What he did didn't exactly promote the fact that he also wished for the mutation away. In this guilt, he angled his head slightly downward.
Just after a few steps, Gina elbowed Jacob slightly before comforting him. "Your power’s really cool- nothing to be embarrassed about.” Her words were nice and soft. This reassured Jacob that it was alright that he had this power but still, his mind is at conflict weather he wished to keep the power or abandon the thought of it. The argument was still too confusing for the poor teenager.
When Gina turned back towards Jacob's parents, the thought of the expressions on their faces seemed like too much. He didn't dare look back to see what expression his parents harbored.
Ignoring the opinion of his parents, Jacob actually felt happy that someone complimented him in his mutation. In fact, that was the first compliment he had ever heard from someone about this deformity."uh, thank you-." he started out saying. He wished to express more gratitude so he added more to his phrase "-uh, very much."
After taking more steps here and there, they had finally reached the office of the headmaster. In a very relived way, Jacob's mother hastily said "Alright, thank you for showing us the way. Now please excuse us."
The lady was practically pushing his son away from the gargoyle-like girl. "Mom, wait." Jacob said with some confidence and stood his ground. "Thank you very much Gina for leading us. Am I going to see you around the school often?" the teenage boy asked, hoping that they would see each other again and even become friends in the near future.
"Jacob, please stop talking to this- this heathen." Helena, Jacob's mom rudely interrupted.
Jacob returned the interruption with and an offended look to his mother, before turning back to Gina. "I apologize for her. So, uh- will I?"
