The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

My-uh, what a nice room you have here!(mirror/Ami)
The new, nice-as-pie intro, followed by a rather blatant statement about her plan stealing both caught the twenty five year old off guard, and forced a cheeky grin back onto her lips. Okay, so maybe Gawain had found a good one.. and she didn't need to launch into another 'Love is evil and kissing will get you preggers!!' speech after all. Reaching out, she took the girls offered hand firmly, and shook.
"Nice'ta meet'cha. Hope you know what you signed up for, Ami.. that one's a handful for sure." She pointed a thumb at the mirror walker, and stuck her tongue out at him.
Shifting her attention back to the 'handful' himself, her grin faded into a friendly smile, and she pursed her lips, pondering his question. She really hadn't been thinking about re-claiming her old territory... not forever and ever, anyway. "You know.. I hadn't thought about it."
She had her place with Roach, just as she had before... but it had really started to feel like home. She was used to the damn bug being there at random times, pulling elaborate or sudden stunts on her. She didn't know what it would be like to hang around somewhere less.... chaotic. Probably boring. She thought, before remembering just who her roommate was. What am I saying? There would never be a dull moment!
"I don't know about permanently... I think that would require me to actually start doing stuff here, wouldn't it?... I dropped out of school for a reason, you know, Cuz it @%#%$ sucked eggs. Pretty sure it'd kill me to have to start it all over again." With a shallow chuckle, she tucked her hands back into her pockets, and smirked.
"...Besides, would you even want me hanging around full time? Prolly something you two love birds should think about, because I guarantee once the spiders move back in you'll never have any alone time ever again... " A little chorus of silent agreement tickled at the back of her mind, from the children hidden in various places on her body. "...Doesn't mean I can't stop by and pester you for a while here and there. Maybe stay a few days and then you can kick me out for, bleh, couple time."
>>"Nice'ta meet'cha. Hope you know what you signed up for, Ami.. that one's a handful for sure."
Gawain mumbled something about a pot and a kettle, but he knew better than to articulate.
>>"You know.. I hadn't thought about it. I don't know about permanently... I think that would require me to actually start doing stuff here, wouldn't it?... I dropped out of school for a reason, you know, Cuz it @%#%$ sucked eggs. Pretty sure it'd kill me to have to start it all over again."
"I'm sure it would" Gawain simrked. Megan was the kind of free spirit who was great at breaking off handcuffs, but not so good at sticking to the school rules. He could not even imagine her in a classroom. Unless she was blowing it up.
>>"...Besides, would you even want me hanging around full time? Prolly something you two love birds should think about, because I guarantee once the spiders move back in you'll never have any alone time ever again... Doesn't mean I can't stop by and pester you for a while here and there. Maybe stay a few days and then you can kick me out for, bleh, couple time."
Gawain shuddered at the mention of spiders. He did not have a problem with them being there, he dealt with that thought a long time ago - but he did get the creeps from the idea of dozens of voyeuristic spiders watching him day and night. Not to mention him and Ami. Ugh.
"I can't really stop ya can I" he grinned "But I'm glad ya're around anyway. If you need a place to crash, the Mansion's always open. I take it you have another palce to stay then? Do you live alone?"
Yes he was concerned dammit. She had an uber-stalker last time they talked.
She took the cheeky grin... and Gawain's entire lack of a directed response towards it... as a show of being 'okay' with said nefarious plan Megan had stolen (to make Gawain her roomie). It was too bad Gawain hadn't fallen over and died blushing and all of that! But Megan's response was just as good.
More than a handful... She mentally rebutted. She kept that comment to herself.
Megan, hanging around all the time, she considered. And going to school. And rooming with her boyfriend? While she approved of the woman, maybe yeah... that might have been a bit 'MUCH'. In capital letters. Probably bolded. With italics. And spiders?
She was lucky the idea of voyeuristic spiders did not occur to her, nor the full extent of the lady's power.
Gawain was okay with the woman, and her staying for a while. As long as she kept her spider claws off her boyfriend/girlfriend, she was okay with it, too. The lady seemed like fun. She waited on a response to his question, using her silence as a reply towards questions of objections. She simply crossed her arms and waited with a smile.
"I can't really stop ya can I. But I'm glad ya're around anyway. If you need a place to crash, the Mansion's always open. I take it you have another place to stay then? Do you live alone?"
Roach immediately came to mind... as well as the living situation she was currently dealing with. She... didn't think telling the boy about the odd ball mutant roommate of hers would be a very good idea. Roach was one of her favorite peop- er... bug men, but she knew very well that most didn't agree with his... personality. Or antics, for that matter.
"I do live alone right now... but I've been busy, so I'm hardly ever home anyway."
With the amount of time she spend every week bundling up silk to ship off, she was starting to consider it a full fledged job... and considering the success of her prototype vest the lasts time she had used it, she knew that there was a huge possibility that her job would be taking up even more of her time.
Recalling her vest, she rubbed at one shoulder. There was a lot of stuff that had happened since her last run in with the mirror walker... and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to tell him about any of it. A lot of it was... personal, and everything else was just overly complicated. With a grin, she chuckled. "But... enough about me, kay? How have you been? What trouble have you gotten yourself in since we last spoke? Considering that she had dragged him off to let him out of a nice shiny pair of handcuffs the last time, she was more than a little curious.
Blue eyes landed on her old stolen bed, and she smirked. "...And how long have you been a couple? I recall you expressly not wanting me to ever meet your last girl.... Can't really blame you though, say... you guys didn't do anything on my bed, right? Do I need to burn the sheets?"
>>"I do live alone right now... but I've been busy, so I'm hardly ever home anyway. But... enough about me, kay? How have you been? What trouble have you gotten yourself in since we last spoke?"
Gawain smirked. He was aware Ami was watching with her arms folded, but he could never pass up some banter.
"I resent the implication. I am a team leader of the X-men, and I have never ever been in trouble in my life."
Not once.
>>"...And how long have you been a couple? I recall you expressly not wanting me to ever meet your last girl.... Can't really blame you though, say... you guys didn't do anything on my bed, right? Do I need to burn the sheets?"
Gawain winced at the mention of Twyla. Uh-oh. That had been an entirely different kind of relationship to begin with. He really hoped he could distract Megan from that topic... and the spider lady herself offered the perfect opportunity.
"Umm, well" he looked at her sheepishly "You... er, might have to. And while ya're at it ya might wanna get a new chair. And a desk. And maybe a carpet..."
Smirking and joking about being a perfect, trouble-free kid were one thing she could laugh about and entertain joking about. But when her honor and purity as a lady were put into question!?
Amelia smiled dangerously. "Been seeing other women than me, to be doing it in all of those places, then?" She asked. An eyebrow arched testingly. "Because I really only remember that one time with Maya on your bed."
Take. That. Mister. You take your medicine and enjoy.
His trick worked for a second. Megan glanced down at the carpet, a sneer of utter disgust curling one corner of her lips. Joking about it was one thing, but she knew teen hormones- having been one not long ago- (and because of current events...).. She was wholly prepared to take his words at face value and track down a fire mutant to torch her side of the room, before Ami butted in and saved her from having to backpedal entirely out of the room.
"Ouch! That one had to hurt a little, Gawianya." With a snicker, she turned and plopped onto her old bed.
"Team leader now, huh?" In a way, even though she didn't know what exactly a title like that meant, she was a little proud that he had done something with himself. The X's weren't a bad group, if terribly boring. She could only assume good things for him.
"I'm proud of you, kid. That sounds like a pretty awesome get up."
Yeah. He should have known that wouldn't work. You can't expect your girlfriend to play along just to impress your... girl friend.
>>"Been seeing other women than me, to be doing it in all of those places, then? Because I really only remember that one time with Maya on your bed."
Gawain opened his mouth to snap back - Sh*t! Those were not you?... - but Megan was faster.
>>"Ouch! That one had to hurt a little, Gawianya."
Gawain rolled his eyes and gave up. He was the only guy in the room, and guys can't win stuff like that. Besides, Ami was right - the only time they slept together was that one time on a Maya day. Gawain was still patiently waiting. That was one of the reasons why Megan's sudden appearance proved to be a complication... but Megan ignored the idea.
>>"Team leader now, huh? I'm proud of you, kid. That sounds like a pretty awesome get up."
"It is" he smirked "Takes up most of my time too. Training people, leading missions, entrance tests, all the fun stuff... why, you wanna join up with the good guys?"
Yup. She'd defended her honor AND prevented Megan from burning her bedding Win win? Shame Gawain hadn't burst into flames from a blush. Amelia's smile turned into a smirk at the rolled eyes. He just couldn't win. Outnumbered,. he dealt with it. And then they moved on.
It was a good thing they'd moved on. Ego-crushing, she noted, would probably not have been very fun for him. She'd wanted to get even, not ruin his day. Thank goodness her guy could roll with the punches. And... Megan with the good guys?
Ha! Had she not been damn certain that the kid was joking, she might had speared him with a strange look. Instead, she laughed. Loudly. "I don't think I'd fit in very well with a bunch of goody-goodies... I'm not exactly the nicest person in the world. Say.. is that girl scout uniform still laying around here somewhere?"
The very idea of trying to join such an organization... it was just plain strange. Megan couldn't managed to keep herself out of trouble and she knew it. In a way, she liked it. Probably a trait she had gotten from her insectoid roommate.
"I think I'm much happier being an average Jane. Er... well, slightly less than average Jane, anyway."
>>"I don't think I'd fit in very well with a bunch of goody-goodies... I'm not exactly the nicest person in the world. Say.. is that girl scout uniform still laying around here somewhere? I think I'm much happier being an average Jane. Er... well, slightly less than average Jane, anyway."
"I gave the uniform to Sam. He's still got your bra, might as well have the whole set" Gawain grinned at her "And yeah, ya're not the superhero kind are you. But then again, neither am I. If you change your mind, you know where to find us. I'm sure your children will tell you."
Her mind locked onto 'girl scout uniform' with far more interest and ease than did it for 'goody-goodies' and 'nice people.' An eyebrow arched in amusement. Girl school uniform, huh? And Sam. Her bra. Interesting. Also, children.
"Children," Amelia seized the topic like a dog grabs its favorite chew toy. "You have children?"
There was no judging in the question, just curiosity. After all, things weren't always what they seemed. What one might call 'children', another might call 'a hell of a lot of cats'. Which was a 'clowder.' The more you knew.
"Gawain, your ex-roommate is super interesting." It seemed everyone was grinning now. "She can stay."
She managed to look hurt. ...A little. "Is this the same Sam that so many females have warned me about? Or did you get revenge on me by giving my stuff to some tweeny brat?" With a pout, she crossed her legs and scratched behind the pups ear as she decided to invade Megan's personal bubble again.
Ami's question knocked the stupid pout from her face, and she grinned. Time to bring out the kids! With a silent, cheerful command, her spiders clambered out from their various hiding places on her body, most from within her mop of blond hair. "Ami, these are my 'children', if you don't mind the figure of speech. Kids... say hello~" With another silent command, three of the spiders lined up on her knee, while the others gathered on her shoulders and waved their arms about. The three on her leg lifted themselves up high, clasped a few legs together, and proceeded to dance in a very spidery fashion.
She ignored the many soft whispers of questions, feeling that asking Mirror whether or not his woman was going to eat him after, and if they could have what was left over after- was maybe a bit much. "They say Hi back."
>>"Children. You have children? Gawain, your ex-roommate is super interesting. She can stay."
"I am glad to hear that." Gawain chuckled. Ami's approval meant a lot. Well, more like, her disapproval would have meant a lot, if she ever decided to disapprove... which, fortunately, she did not.
>>"Is this the same Sam that so many females have warned me about? Or did you get revenge on me by giving my stuff to some tweeny brat?"
"That's the one" he grinned. He would have paid money to see the showdown between Megan and Sam. Or maybe not. He had the hunch that watching it might get awfully awkward...
Amy asked about children. Oh. Right. Gawain smirked and let Megan explain.
>>"Ami, these are my 'children', if you don't mind the figure of speech. Kids... say hello~ They say Hi back."
Gawain waved at the spiders. He was getting used to them... they did freak him out the first time. He was curious how Ami will handle the whole scene...
She had not heard much about this 'Sam'. Well. Except for whatever students at the mansion had said. And students at the mansion, as a rule, said quite a bit. Not all of it was positive. She had yet to meet him. Judging from what womenfolk often said, she figured maybe Gawain was keeping it that way on purpose...
Spiders were cool. Amelia nodded, impressed.
"I figured you didn't have carpet crawlers." She said. "Wasn't sure, but figured. They're neat. Always been a fan of spiders."
Some girls go 'ew'. Amelia thought spiders were fascinating. So long as she was not walking through their webs.
