The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
>> "Maybe I could scope around the Church? See what I can find out? I'm pretty sure no one around there would recognize me, unless one of my clients is there as well, which I doubt"
Jorge visibly grimaced at the notion. If there was one thing that the detective did not like was for citizens to get involved in cases, especially when they were not trained to do so. Yes, volunteers was always considered to be a nice plus, but what was going to do if Tasean tried to go there by himself without police back up. Though he did not believe that the man was defenseless, the fact of the matter was that he could not condone it.
The detective shook his head. Tasean was well meaning but the situation was far too dangerous. If Sebastian was behind this, or any of the rumors of him and his wife being involved in the trade and sell of the M-drug, then this would be far above the social worker’s head.
“Hey, Tasean, I want to find these kids as much as anyone,” he explained. “But I cannot condone you going in there by yourself. It’s dangerous especially since I doubt I’ll be able to provide you with police back-up. I’m sorry but I don’t want anyone else’s life as risk that doesn’t need to be.”

Tasean nodded sagely as Jorge told him no. This is the answer Tasean had expected in the first place. Jorge wouldn't be a detective if he didn't worry about the safety of civilians. Unfortunately for all parties involved, Tasean was southern and a Capricorn. His southerner blood gave him a somewhat fiery temperament, and made him believe most Yankees were incompetent. Being born a Capricorn made him incredibly stubborn and a do it yourselfer, at least that's what he blamed it on. Combined this meant that Tasean rarely took no for an answer, or acknowledged danger.
"I completely understand" Tasean replied. **I'll be going out there as soon as you leave here** he thought to himself. "I want you to know that anytime you need my help though, I am definitely available" he said. **And when you don't need it, I'll give it anyway. **
Tasean picked his plate of food up and began to gnaw on some broccoli. The food had gotten a little cold, but that was alright, it still tasted good.

Jorge
Jorge had said “no.” It was his job to say no, but at the same time he did respect Tasean and did not want to see the man hurt while attempting to conduct investigations on his own. As much as Jorge did not mind the help, the last thing that he wanted was for the man to get hurt because he decided to investigate something that he could not provide him back up on. Especially since they had no legal connection to Sebastian to begin with.
Slippery slope, that was the only way that Jorge could think about it. Tasean, thankfully seemed to understand.
>> "I completely understand…I want you to know that anytime you need my help though, I am definitely available"
He eyed Tasean closely. There was something there, in the man’s voice, in his posture that made Jorge wary. He didn’t know what it was but he tried to disregard it. He really and truly hoped that Tasean was true in what he said, that he understood. If not…well…Jorge did not want to worry about this man’s life because of his good intentions.
“I’ll make sure to remember that,” Jorge said with a nod. “Thank you very much for your offer. You need help, you know you can call us too, right?”

Tasean nodded again. "Yes, got your number saved in phone system, and your business card stored on the computer" he said.
He continued eating at the food on his plate, though his mind was elsewhere. Though he had already made up his mind to scope out the Church of Humanities, he still needed to think this through. No need in adding more risk onto an already precarious situation. Of course he couldn't ask Jorge for more information, the man was a detective, and would probably know what Tasean was up to, and find some way to stop him.
"So shall we get down to business, and dig through this lovely box of files your brought?" Tasean asked, genuinely interested in what the files had to say, and also trying to get off the subject of Sebastian and the Church.

>> "Yes, got your number saved in phone system, and your business card stored on the computer"
Jorge nodded thankfully. He really did not want to believe that Tasean would do something stupid, like going there on his own, but he knew that he could not baby the man. He was a grown up and Jorge believe that he knew the repercussions of his actions. At least he hoped that the man did. Nah, Tasean wouldn’t go there after Jorge had strictly told him not to. He was sure of that.
At least he hoped he was sure. He returned to the task at hand and glanced down to the food. It really did look and smell appetizing. And there was no sense in wasting the food by not eating since they still had a lot of work to do. Just because they were at a dead end did not mean that they could not stumble onto something important here.
>> "So shall we get down to business, and dig through this lovely box of files your brought?"
Jorge smirked. It was as if the man was simply reading his mind. He nodded as he began to pass out folders between both himself and Tasean.
“Sounds like a plan to me. Anything jumps out, don’t keep it to yourself,” he said as he pulled his first file to him.

Tasean pulled a couple of the files towards him, and intensely began scanning the pages. Every once and a while he would quickly jot something down on a note pad, a date here or common factors there, things he wanted to discuss with Jorge later.
Go over the files, the young social worker began to lose his sense of time. His tunnel vision focus was on these cases and the people that they represented. When Tasean first began working as a social worker, back in North Carolina, his supervisor told him the thing that made him a great social worker was that he looked at paper work and saw it as a representation of a person who needed his help. Cases were never just cases for him, each one was personal, and he wasn't trying to reach a quote of casework, but help every person to the best of his ability. His supervisor told him that would work to his favor, and also to his detriment, because eventually he would burn himself out.
Tasean wasn't thinking about any eventual burnout right now, he was focused on finding these missing people, and make sure who was ever responsible for their disappearances was held accountable.
