The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

How had it all gone to hell?
He'd seen her again, Halloween night. Skirt hiked up. Zombies fell.
That guy. That guy. She'd been with that guy.
She wasn't with him.
Why was it all the beautiful women in his life currently were busy with other men?
He'd finally come to terms with the fact he was jealous. That fact alone was freaking disgusting.
Hrm...
Ashton grimaced, leaning back in his desk chair in his apartment. The room was dark, save for a desk lamp and the occasional beam through blinds from a passing car. A bottle of Scotch was on the table, half-submerged rocks in the glass.
As he freed up those rocks so they weren't drowning anymore, he drowned himself in a memory.

It had been a sweet date. A sweet dinner. Sweet music. Sweet smiles. Sweet end. She'd worn a sweet lil number in black and with a slit, straight down the leg. Hadn't been demure. And it had all been... sweet.
Laughter. Jokes. One hell of a time.
Dancing? Forget about it. Obviously, they'd hit up a club after.
Stayed sober. Of course they'd stayed sober. How else could they enjoy each others company in their own minds?
And it had all led... here.
To his apartment.
Here.
He remembered the sound of keys in the lock of the door.

Ashton turned to Riley, smirking. He pulled the door open. Open for her. "In, we go." He chuckled, his Irish accent slipping, barely perceptible, into his voice.

Ashton was a nice guy, and he had great taste in movies. They’d done the ‘date’ thing a couple of times (If randomly meeting up in movie theaters and going to dinner a couple times counted as dates. Riley didn’t really think so…but it was what it was.) Regardless, they’d ended up here. At his apartment.
Riley wasn’t surprised. Where else had this whole thing been going? This is what chemistry led to. Well, chemistry and a dress with a slit. Chemistry and good movies. Chemistry and dancing.
Heck, he’d even bought her dinner.
The key turned in the lock and Ashton spoke. Was that a hint of an accent she’d heard? Did it matter?
Riley met him smirk for smirk and led the way inside.

Oh. Mmhm. Yup. Lovely place, Riley thought as she waited for Ashton to close and lock his door.
She didn’t move far, and was ready for him when he pulled her into the kiss. She responded eagerly, arms entwining around his neck as his hands made their way to her waist. Not a bad start to the rest of the evening…not bad at all. In fact, this was far easier to deal with than silly things dates and conversation.
As for Ashton’s suggestion for the start of the tour? Riley chuckled lowly and let a hand trail down to his chest, a wicked smile on her face.
