The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Not only were the New York vigilantes desperate enough to take any costumed freak who walked in off the street. Now they were taking kids too.
"Maya Morris." Introduced herself and Quin scowled. "Just stay out of the way. Don't fall in front of any other cars."
Go? Shoot? As if she'd simply listen to a punk kid in a zombie dress with illusions of vigilante grandeur. The zombies were getting close though....and they had been tearing people apart.
The first one stumbled forward...obviously long dead. Quin took a shooting stance, lined up her sights and fired. Down it went.
"They're walking stereotypes!" She yelled. There was other stuff going on. Other stuff that she really didn't care about at all. While the kids with guns worked their way around the perimeter of the grave yard (she'd deal with how stinking ridiculous that statement was later...) she'd cover them from the other side.
Maya was being bear-hugged by her girlfriend who just developed mutant powers out of the blue fairly recently. Huh. She was still too stunned to react properly, so she just hugged her back, kissing the panda forehead.
"It's okay, Ami. I'm fine. Thanks."
>>"Just stay out of the way. Don't fall in front of any other cars."
"Yeah, as if you don't need any help with those guys" Maya frowned, unwrapping Ami's arms from around herself "Stay safe Panda. We gotta clean this up."
Zombies were still in the cemetery, being locked down; there was only the stray or two outside, being picked off by the police. Maya had no gun, and no intention to mirror-break more of the walking dead, so after helping to lock the gates she mainly stayed back, keeping an eye out for specimens that tried to wander off.
Cops did cop stuff. The cinnamon-smelling guy did some funky teleporty stuff with something or other, somehow. The stray or two got handled. Amelia stayed.
She was a mutant. This was huge. She was a mutant, and more importantly. She'd saved Maya's life.
Maya had nearly gotten killed. Maya had nearly gotten killed, and she had saved her.
Everything was starting to calm down, she thought. So what would she do in such a frantic, zombie-laden situation? Amelia called her brother.
She got no answer.
"..."
After waiting long enough, she thumbed out a text message with all the key information. After this was all over, they'd need a ride.

More time passed. More zombies died.
Dying was such a funky word for zombies.
Aurum couldn't believe Ami had somehow come into a situation with the walking undead. And on Halloween. It was unreal.
The Mellitus family delivery van trundled along. As they sped through the city, Aurum's grip grew progressively tighter.
'I'm gonna go save my sister' was a great line to drop. Lots of gusto, plenty of oomph and bang to get behind. But what the hell were they going to do once they got there? He'd never contributed to a battle during a zombie apocalypse. Even Riley seemed to have an edge on him... "Maybe I should just throw the book at them..." Aurum muttered wryly. The red light changed to green. Aurum moved on.

Bang bang!
It was impossible to arrest a zombie. Nobody had even considered such a course of action. And nobody'd even contemplated giving them their rights. Right to be blowed up seemed perfectly dandy. Judging from the rapidly depleting numbers.
The guy with the armory in his van was packing serious heat. The kids fought bravely. Somewhere along the way, the zombies had figured out how to get out of the cemetery. It had been a good thing they'd been prepared.
The lights on the squad car turned, red and blue, red and blue. He'd called for backup. Backup was being slow. Across the city, similar threats had cropped up. This was so hairy. He didn't know what the hell was going on...
All he knew. Was that that civilian delivery truck parking by his squad car needed to get the hell out of dodge.
Two people stepped out. Two people stepped out and his eyes jumped from face to face. His eyes locked on her's. Something like a cannonball dropped inside his gut. He jerked his attention back to cherry explosions and pink happy thoughts. As he squeezed the trigger on some more undead.
Why the hell is he here... with her. He didn't even want to think the thoughts that were suddenly raging in his head. So, he shot things. Seemed to be a good distraction.
(( New posting order: Aedus. Katrina. Quin. Mirror. Riley. Amelia. Aurum or Ashton. ))
Aedus worked near defense while Kat took long offense, The majority of the zombies were still thankfully migrating to the crowd assuming that the others were gather because they found something good...if zombies assumed things anyhow. the others were meandering meaninglessly until something caught their attention, like a bullet, an axe, a mutation or BRAINZ? who knows.
He just swung his axe like a undead hunting lumberjack. it was kind of fun in a sick sort of way. if nothing else it was necessary.
From “Kitten” to “Sweety” in under a minute. These silly men and their silly names for women. She'd show them that she wasn't just some cute little blonde damsel in distress. She was a zombie slaying warrior! One who could keep a level head in a battle when others were freaking out over small little things like nearly getting hit by a car and then celebrating with kisses before the battle was even over.
At least the cop listened to her and did radio in for help. That was a relief to know. Maybe Detective Cerventes would come after all. Sirens started, far, far in the distance.
Everything about this night was surreal. Now that the immediate shock of danger was past, it felt a little like being in a real life video game, though not one Katrina would ever choose to play. She and Aedus continued with their two player version, keeping the fence around the graveyard to their right. There was a gate on each side of the cemetery. One was already closed. Numbers two and three were no problem, as there were no zombies currently pouring out of them. It was quick work to pull them closed and latch them tight.
Gate number four was where things got a little hairy. There was still an active line staggering past through these gates. What's more, their group of friends was now on the opposite side of this line. If they fired their weapons and missed, the bullets might fly right at their allies.
“If you can clear out the part of the path closest to the gate, I can try to swing it closed. I'll be able to get a better angle from there, too.” As in, less directly aiming at friends in case she missed. The last things she wanted to do was hit friendlies.
“Ready? 3...2...1...” Go! Katrina took off sprinting, slipping into the little triangle area between the fence and the gate, protected, somewhat be wrought iron bars. The bars kept zombie heads from forcing their way through, but didn't stop their hands from pulling at her hair. The little illusionist used the back of the gun to smash at the hands that tried to scratch her face.
“Hurry,” she begged Aedus. The sooner he got the undead out of her way, the sooner she could swing this last gate shut once and for all.

Yup. They were zombies, and they went down just like in the video games. Not even thinking about the fact that these could be normal people under some kind of mutant haze, Quin fired again and again. Everywhere she shot, a zombie went down. She hadn't spent all that time on the firing range for nothing, after all.
There were more sounds of gunfire from around the park, and somewhere there were sirens. That didn't mean anything though. If this was happening here, it was probably going on in other parts of the city too. Sirens just meant that somewhere, something was going on.
A new van pulled up to the scene and Quin audibly grumbled something about stupid civilians who can't just stay home and out of the way. As the two people emerged from the van, she grumbled even more. They were dressed for a party...not zombie killing.
This whole thing was a mess. Two of the teens were having some sort of moment, one was hitting things with an axe, and one was rushing the gates of the graveyard.
For the love.
"Drake! We need to clear them back from the gates!" Quin shouted, before that kid get herself killed..
As she said it, the female new arrival started striding forward, dress hiked up to her knees, completely unconcerned with the carnage going on around her.
"Don't worry folks. I got this." Riley said, making her way to within 4 ft of the cemetery gates.
The guy with the shotgun. Mister Hobo-with-a-van shotgun-fan. Turned.
'Oh hell no,' he thought. He was not going to let the lady get mauled by zombies. Not on his watch. He moved to stop her. And that's when the zombies started falling over like dominoes all over the city.
Ashton blinked.
Aurum gaped.
Amelia was a little preoccupied with her own thoughts to really care about anything other than herself, kthnx.
The dominoes ceased falling. And everyone started to react.
