The trainers are worn to annoy her parents, who would prefer her to wear nicer shoes such as flats or heels but she also prefers to wear comfortable shoes no matter the situation.
Character
Personality: Grace is shy to the point where she has trouble speaking at all or even looking at the person she's meeting. It takes her quite a long time to trust someone or to make friends with them. She does better if she's the one making the first move to talk to someone rather than have them start up the conversation. Talking to people and being in public places make her nervous and so she often chews on her lips. They usually look dry, cracked, and sometimes are bleeding but she doesn't even feel that any more. Once Grace gets to know someone, she can be less shy, but still has trouble doing things like making eye contact. She does not do well with change which is why she decided to take a year off before going to a university.
Hobbies/ Interests: Reading mostly, playing games that can be done with one person - solitary activities.
Job or part time job and description: N/A
Jobs can be established later through in character RPing. If you plan on working at the mansion it will have to be approved.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Heights and spiders. If Grace sees a spider in a room she will most likely scream and leave the room, refusing to enter it again until the spider is dead not just put outside. She's convinced that just letting the spider go will invite it to come back and come after her. She's been afraid of heights her whole life. Grace can tolerate going on a plane (as long as the window shade is down and there's no turbulence) but sometimes driving over a bridge makes her feel dizzy and the year her parents brought her on vacation to New Hampshire was an absolute disaster. They stayed in North Conway and one day drove up Mt. Washington on a road that doesn't have guardrails. She spent the duration of the ride on the floor of the back seat of their car being sick.
Special talents: She's quite good at playing the flute. This has come after years of practise and participation in her school concert band and marching band.
Morality
Good (except maybe towards spiders and other bugs) - Grace believes that honesty is the best policy with everything not having to do with her mutation. Once she discovered what she could do at the age of 10, she tried very hard to keep that information hidden.
Mutations
Mutation description: Time travel. When she was born (in 1930) she disappeared from the hospital and arrived in the same one in the present day (1992). Her parents are the ones who adopted her. She only knows when she came from thanks to a bit of research and her psychology teacher from her senior year of high school (she's since graduated and is living at home). Her parents and her psychology teacher are currently the only people to know of her mutation. When she travels, she disappears from one time and appears in the other, generally in the same location she was in. A popping sound like you hear when opening a jar can be heard when she time travels.
Strengths: Well, it's time travel. It's pretty awesome. As for which version of time travel theory I'm sticking with, that would be the one in Doctor Who - that some past events are in flux and some are fixed points.
Weaknesses: Can only appear within 100 feet of her original location and can only take herself. There is also a limit to how often she can time travel due to how much energy it takes. Every 30 minutes is as often as she is able. She’s not entirely sure of how far forward or back she is able to go, and is convinced that what occurred when she was an infant was just a fluke. The furthest back she’s ever gone is one month and the furthest forward she’s gone is two weeks. She’s sure that foreknowledge is dangerous and doesn’t want to go too far ahead, even if she could. However in time she will be capable of going as far forward as a year and as far back as two years.
Fighting Style
Explanation: Grace has not had any experience fighting. If she'd gotten into a fight at school her parents would have pulled her out of there quick and brought in tutors for her. Since she is their only child, they tend to be very protective (sometimes overly so) of Grace.
Pros for fighting style: N/A
Cons for fighting style: She hasn't got one.

History Of Your Character:
Grace was born in 1930 but soon after her birth she accidentally time travelled to the same hospital in the future (and this really only works with the assumption that the hospital did the ink footprints. I tried to research when that started but the Internet was not as helpful as I'd have liked.) where she was adopted by Jenn and Richard Maddeson.
It was not unheard of to find an abandoned infant on the steps of the hospital, but to find one in one of the cots in the nursery with none of the staff knowing how she’d gotten there was another thing entirely. The woman in charge assumed it was the new girl’s fault and decided no harm done. No one claimed the child, who was named Grace according to embroidery on her clothes, as their own so she was put up for adoption.
She grew up a single child in a fairly nice home in western NY. Growing up, she didn't have many friends since she was not one to approach anyone and start up a conversation and most of the other children thought her to be strange for being so quiet. There was no sign of her mutation until she was twelve years old when she accidently moved forward in time without realizing it. She’d been reading in her bedroom when she’d skipped over a whole hour. She’d often lost track of time while reading so it didn’t strike her as odd when her mother called her down for dinner earlier than she’d expected her to.
When she was studying psychology in the eleventh grade the class was assigned a genealogy project. She’d been looking for a way to tell her parents that she wanted to find and meet her birth parents for quite some time, but was afraid of how they would react. This was the perfect opportunity. With her dad, Grace went to this hospital to find records of the day she was born and of her birth parents. She was disappointed to find no record of her parents and to learn that she’d just been left here as a child. She left the hospital with a copy of a photograph of herself as an infant as well as the ink footprints the doctors had done but feeling disappointed, she just put these things in her bag to take a look at them later.
At home, she began to create a story of what had happened to her as an infant that mainly involved kidnapping. She believed that she’d been stolen from her parents and they hadn’t come after her because her mother was too tired from just having gave birth and her father needed to protect his wife. They’re hearts would have been broken at the news that the police couldn’t find her and so they were left to do nothing but hope that a couple just as caring as they would care for their daughter. Internet searches yielded no results. She looked through local newspaper articles from the time she was born – no mention of a baby gone missing.
She needed more information about where she’d come from so with her dad’s help she went about going through the county to get a copy of her birth certificate. Thanks to a friend of her father’s who worked with the state government, they were able to search through birth certificates and discovered something curious. They were not able to find Grace’s birth certificate – or so they thought. Instead, they found a baby that was named Grace Adams with the same weight and length measurements she’d had when found at the hospital. It was impossible for this infant to be her though, unless a serious error had been made because the certificate also said that this Grace had been born in 1930 and a bit more research indicated that she’d gone missing shortly after her birth.
Her father thanked his friend for helping them and during the car ride home he told Grace to just forget about it and to talk to her teacher for an alternate assignment. She did talk to her teacher and she got another assignment to do, but Grace couldn’t stop thinking about what they’d discovered. Even though she thought it impossible, she couldn’t help but feel like there was a connection. She didn’t seem to have a past – no birth parents, no birth certificate even and this other Grace, the 1930 Grace, didn’t seem to have had a future. She went missing and then what?
Over the next few months Grace tried to push it out of her mind. She had schoolwork to concentrate on after all. But while she tried to keep herself busy with schoolwork and getting a job at the local daycare, she had other things that kept getting in the way. Like the fact that she would disappear and reappear in the same spot only a few hours apart without any sort of control. She noticed this when she was studying for her finals one Saturday afternoon. One moment it was lunchtime and the next it was dark and when she tripped over her backpack going to turn on the lights, her mother found her and scolded her for disappearing all afternoon when her dad’s boss had come over for dinner. Grace had come up with a quick lie and told her mother that she’d gone to the library to study and had lost track of the time, but she knew what really happened. She’d just skipped over the whole afternoon. One moment lunchtime the next it was nearly midnight.
Another incident occurred near the end of her junior year of high school where she’d gone back a whole week and she hid in her basement so as not to run into herself or freak out her parents. Soon after that she’d gone forward three days (see RP sample) and gotten into loads of trouble with her parents.
Then summer was over and she was back at school. She had plenty to keep her busy between her heavy workload at school and college applications. The school year passed by with only a few minor incidents involving time travel – a few hours here, a few hours there – but as graduation got closer Grace felt like she ought to tell her parents the truth, sure they would understand and want to help her. This was not the reaction she got. Her mother was more upset than her father – maybe because he’d been there when they found her birth certificate – but he wasn’t able to stop his wife from telling their daughter to leave. Grace didn’t understand – why wouldn’t they just help her, but her mother was acting like a stranger towards her and her father couldn’t even look her in the eye. She ran up to her room crying and called her psychology teacher, Mrs. Nelson. Mrs. Nelson was her favourite teacher and she was happy when she listened to everything Grace had to say. Grace packed a bag and took a taxi to the Nelson’s home where she stayed for the rest of the school year and through the summer.

Grace walked cautiously into the living room in her home, having just appeared in the entryway. She hadn't meant to time travel. She wondered how far back she'd gone this time. The last time, she'd had to hide in the basement for a week so as to avoid running into herself or revealing her mutation to her parents. The living room certainly looked the same apart from the time on the clock on the wall. 11:40 it said and judging by the light outside Grace could see that it was night. I've lucked out, she thought. Mum and dad will be sleeping so I can easily avoid them and-
Back in the entryway, on the staircase that lead to the second floor, a stair creaked and Grace jumped and turned around. It was her dad standing on the bottom step. He came into the living room.
Grace prepared herself to hear a lecture about how young ladies shouldn't be out of bed at this time of night, or that she'd somehow managed to wake him up even though she was sure he could sleep through a hurricane. But it looked like he'd not slept in days, which struck her as odd. How long ago was this, she wondered. Why didn't she remember it?
"Gracie?" Her father stared at her as though he hadn't said goodnight to her just hours before like he did every night. Not only that, but he hadn't called her 'Gracie' in years. Not since she was 14.
"Sorry, Dad," she said. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I was just coming down here to find my book. I think I left it in your-"
She was cut off as her father rushed forward and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Dad?" Her face was pressed against his chest and her voice sounded muffled.
"Where have you been, Grace?" He sounded like he was crying, or about to, but Grace couldn't see at the moment. He pulled back from her and held her at arms length and Grace could see that there were in face tears streaming down her face. What have I done? she wondered.
"I - I've been - what?" She couldn't quite process what was happening. How long had she been gone? She didn't know because she'd never actually travelled to the future. Grace could tell now that that must be what had happened.
"You've been gone for three days! Your mother and I have been worried sick! There have been police looking for you!" He studied her closely and Grace looked away, uncomfortable with the situation. "Did someone hurt you? You can tell me, honey, but-"
"What? Dad - I've just- I mean - I... I can't remember." Faking memory loss was probably the best way for her to get out of this without revealing her mutation or being grounded for a month. There was a good chance they would still ground her, but it would be to keep her safe rather than from being in trouble. "I just remember that fight we had - about me taking a year off from school? And then I woke up here." She didn't have to try to hard to make a few tears steam down her face. She was already feeling scared and worried. "I'm sorry, Dad. I don't know what happened." She hated to lie to him, but Grace knew what her parents though of mutants and worried that if they found out about the time travel, they'd kick her out.
"All right," he sighed. "Let me walk you to your room. We'll figure this out in the morning when your mother is awake."
