The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Individual Character's Full Name: Claire Arden Wright Alias | Nickname | Codename: Often called "Red" or "Ginger", due to her hair colour. Her brothers, both aware of her mutation, jokingly call her "Transmission" and "Radiohead". Gender: Female Age: 20 Date Of Birth: 2nd October, 1990 Nationality | Ethnicity: English, Caucasian. Birthplace | Home | Place Of Origin: London, England.
Appearance Hair Color | Style: Red hair with a slight wave to it, long, glossy and thick. While kept loose most of the time, Claire pins or plaits it when she needs it out of the way. Eyes: Almond-shaped, light green eyes. Height: Stands around 5'5". Build: Slim built and a shapely figure. Visible Mutation: None Scars | Tattoos | Piercings: Faded scratches over her arms and legs, due to an ill-behaved pet cat, Ziggy Stardust. No tattoos — yet. Both earlobes pierced, the right one pierced thrice. Other Features: Your classic redhead, Claire is naturally pale and has an ungodly amount of freckles over her nose and cheeks, which she tries to conceal with make-up. Has a dimpled smile.
Everyday Clothing Style: Casual chic. On the daily routine, she shows preference for fitted or skinny jeans, usually of darker tones, and plaid shirts, band-logoed t-shirts or tank tops. But whenever she has enough time to elaborate, she chooses more feminine clothing, such as delicate blouses, dresses and skirts that enhance her figure, always accessorised accordingly. Even then, she shows a liking for darker colours. Accessories are always a must, be it a jaunty little beret perched on the side of her head, a kooky scarf, or even a few pieces of vintage jewellery. She loves rings and owns a fairly large collection. As of footwear, although not very practical, her love for heels renders her incapable of wearing anything else — ideally designer label and dangerously high. Uniform: Not applicable. Sleepwear: Ratty old t-shirts and shorts — anything that doesn't restrain her movements. Miscellaneous Clothing: During warm weather, she uses and abuses of mini-skirts and shorts in order to show off her pins — whereas for cold weather, she prefers long coats of bright colours, to clash with her darker clothing.
Character Personality: A charismatic and sociable individual, Claire enjoys the company of those who excite her intellectually and with whom she can exchange ideas. She can talk for hours, easily losing the track of time upon the finding of a worthy conversationalist. She's frank and sincere, a standard she holds for herself and those who surround her. She dislikes hypocrisy and being its target. She's open minded and tolerant, but also rebellious and very strong-willed. When her mind is set on something, it's difficult to make her change. She's intelligent and discerning, but terribly stubborn. She's impulsive, which can be a virtue, but it is mostly a disadvantage. Impulsive short-lasting energy makes her waver between enthusiasm and indulgence; it also leads her to act recklessly, without giving thought to the consequences of her actions. Despite her tender and sensitive nature, Claire does possess a nasty temper; she's quick to anger and hard to mellow. Her anger is explosive and she tends to lash out on who provoked her. Hobbies | Interests: More than anything, Claire loves to travel. Her aesthetic orientation, carefully nurtured by her mother, made sensitive to what surrounds her. She appreciates the arts, culture, nature, beauty in all its forms. Loves novelties, vanguardist ideas, everything that's unusual and original. Job | Part-Time Job | Description: At the moment, unemployed and searching. Fears | Phobias | Concerns: Dislikes birds and is allergic to seafood. Never had her tonsils removed. Blood type is AB negative. Regarding her mutation, and so accustomed to her perpetual state of online availability, anxiety hits her when she finds herself in a place with poor or no reception. Also, a fear that worsens with time: since her mutation enables her to decode data, Claire assumes she's not safe from being "infected" by a software virus — while not knowing if it is possible or what-not, the mere thought of it fills her with dread. Special Talents: Burping on command, a top-notch talent learnt from her older brothers. Computer-savvy, and your go-to Binary Code/English translator.
Morality Good | Bad | Neutral | Other: Because of her strong sense of justice, Claire tries to remain neutral regarding the mutant issue, but from a Darwinian perspective, she has no doubt whatsoever that mutants — or the homo superior — are the future and that will, inevitably, replace the homo sapiens as the dominant species. However, her judgement is heavily influenced by the love she feels for her brothers, thus she doesn't believe extremist measures to be the answer. On the subject of her own mutation, she tends to overlook moralism and bend her own personal sense of ethics — what's the use of being able to eavesdrop on everything if one's morally incapable of doing so?
Mutations Mutation Description: Claire's mutation enables the reception of electromagnetic waves of radio frequency, especially but not exclusively those carrying sound messages — computer networking, broadcasting, telephony, telegraphy, anything using radio signals. Depending on the signal's strength, she is able to detect and pick up frequencies in a range of 150 feet indoors and 300 feet outdoors. A few examples of the everyday technologies that depend on radio waves: radio and television broadcasts, cordless and cellular phones, satellite communications, wireless networks, GPS receivers, police radios, garage door openers, baby monitors... and the list goes on. Strengths: Easy access to information and data she would be denied otherwise. Uncanny understanding and decoding of the binary code. Doesn't need a radio to know what's hot on the Top 50 — not that she cares about the Top 50. Weaknesses: Claire's ability heavily depends on two factors: the strength of the radio signal and her own concentration. Both tune in and out require a certain level of concentration from her part. Under poor conditions, tiredness or stress, she may have a hard time tuning into the right frequency. Likewise, when she does not extract herself safely from the electromagnetic spectrum — tune out —, the constant humming on her ears and the information flow going through her head provoke bad migraines. Claire's not your average hacker. Encrypted pages and anything requiring a password to move forward online become something distinctively alike to physical barriers to her. When not careful enough, she might "crash" against them, which injures her physically. Negative emotions on her behalf, such as fear or rage, provoke static on devices close to her. Albeit its low frequency rate, the constant exposition to radiation causes her body temperature to rise. Small, closed spaces — elevators, for example — lessen, if not cut off completely her signal reception.
Secondary Mutation Description: Ever since the awareness of her mutation, Claire has tried to perform the exact opposite: instead of being in the receiving end of a signal, she has been trying to broadcast and manipulate the information she retrieves. Strengths: None so far, as her achievements have been rather scarce to deem her successful — only a small assortment of radio-controlled toys moving around freely and the occasional broadcast jamming. Weaknesses: Physical strain, worse migraines.
Fighting Style Explanation: Claire doesn't have a fighting style — she developed an argumentative streak instead. But being brought up with two older brothers had its advantages, giving her an edge when it comes to throw a punch. Pros For Fighting Style: Bright and quick-witted, she drives her point across relying on logic, heavy doses of sarcasm, and sometimes a hint of manipulation. If everything fails, sucker-punching and that ever useful can of pepper spray. Cons For Fighting Style: Claire's neither strong nor resistant enough to endure a violent physical fight, a fact that, due to her cheekiness and reckless nature, she seems to forget about more often than not — only to be reminded of the worst way.

History Of Your Character 1980 — 2002: The hardest button to button. The story began in 1980, when Rupert James Wright, the young and self-made rising star of a well-known law firm met Elise Sutton, a historian and employed curator at the Greek and Roman Antiquities Department of the British Museum. They met through a mutual friend at an art auction. One can't say they fell madly in love — they didn't. However, they enjoyed each other's company and that was enough for them to pursue a friendship-based relationship. As time went by, they ended up falling for each other.
In 1983, they got married. Rupert counted twenty-four years old and Elise twenty-six. Their marriage was of pure convenience; Elise had the family name and Rupert had the financial stability. Their union bore three children. The first, a boy, named after Elise's father Frederick, was born an year after the wedding, in 1984. Two years after, came his brother, Nigel. Finally, in 1990, Claire was born, the third, last, and only girl.
Due to Rupert's financial situation, the family enjoyed a happy existence in Wilton Crescent, Belgravia. The children's upbringing was intermingled with Elise's rigid discipline and Rupert's indulgence, who spoilt them with care and gifts. But in order to redeem himself, he would take them to camping trips, instilling in them the love for the great outdoors, nature and the practice of sports, such as rugby or football.
In the Spring of 1995, their grandfather Frederick Sutton, with whom they were especially close, passed away, and their spirits became tense. Fred, his namesake, took the news of their grandfather's death quite badly and Elise was distraught. Her mourning was disrupted by her sister Nora's appearance, with whom she shared a poor relationship. While dealing with their respective legacies, their relationship deteriorated to the point of no return. The sisters parted in bad terms. A part of Elise's large legacy was a country house in Wiltshire, to where she retired to properly mourn her father's passing. Leaving the children with Rupert and their housekeeper, she left London for an extended period of time.
When Elise came home from the countryside, she returned different; harder, colder, less motherly. It appeared that she always knew when they lied or omitted things, when they had done something wrong but wouldn't dare tell. It became a recurring joke between the siblings — and sometimes Rupert — that Elise was "psychic".
As the years passed and the children grew, their domestic situation worsened; other than tense, it bordered the hostile. Both Rupert and Elise sought refuge on their careers, slowly drifting apart. While at home, the quarrels between the couple were frequent, often escalating into heated rows. Accusations of infidelity recurred from both sides.
Whenever a fight broke within the house, Fred and Nigel were the ones who protected Claire, withdrawing her from their home, the three of them taking walks through London, going to the movies, anything that took their minds off their familial distress. This was a coping mechanism for the trio, and the already strong bond between them deepened.
2003 — 2005: Communication breakdown. Despite their obvious similarities, the three siblings differed immensely from each other. Through the years, Fred became quite good-looking: tall and lean, with the dimpled grin characteristic of the trio and always impeccably dressed, he was the prototype of a London rocker and broke hearts on his wake. This together with a laid-back attitude made up for an explosive mixture. Being the most rebellious of the three and a free-spirit, he deeply resented the pressure of being the firstborn, as their parents' unsurprisingly high expectations fell to his shoulders. Nigel, on the other hand, retained a grungy style, favouring flannel plaid shirts over baggy t-shirts and old, ratty jeans. Picture a freckled, red-haired Kurt Cobain. Character-wise, he differed from his brother. Always set on his ways and with very defined future goals, Nigel thrived under pressure and pushed himself further onto higher levels. He dreamt of becoming an architect. Claire appeared to be a mix of the two; while she comfortably joined Fred on his maddening flights of fancy, she was just as analytical as Nigel. With influence from them both, she developed her own character.
Weeks before Claire's thirteenth birthday, their family life took an unexpected turn. Fred was admitted to the Royal London Hospital while overdosing. It was the breaking point to a situation that had been dragging on for a long time: his behaviour had become increasingly erratic in the months prior and he had dropped out from law school; he got into fights and pub brawls, often arriving home with ripped clothing and bloodied; one of his girlfriends showed up pregnant, only to interrupt the pregnancy weeks later. This drug addiction, however, was new and unsustainable. Fred was signed in for a rehabilitation program and psychologic counselling. Soon, instead of becoming better, he slipped into a deep depression.
Elise came clean about her "psychic powers" during this ordeal: she admitted being a telepath, though a rather weak one; she couldn't read people unless she tried to, and that she always refused to do so. Rupert was enraged by this statement. Hurt, he blamed Elise for omitting her true nature from him, and most of all, for not figuring what was wrong with Fred early on.
Nigel enrolled himself in Edinburgh College of Art and soon flew to Scotland, in order to free himself from their unbearable domestic situation.
Claire was sent to Headington School, an all-girl boarding school in Oxford so she wouldn't be exposed to her brother's slow and nearly fruitless recovery. She disliked this measure immensely, being suddenly uprooted from her own life. It didn't help that she disliked the school, its rigid rules and the constant company of her female colleagues, when she grew up used to be around boys. The integration in the school community was a difficult task. Her grades took a consequential dive; despite her brightness, she showed little to no interest in academics and made no effort whatsoever to keep up with her class.
The trio was then set apart, and Claire felt more miserable than she ever had in her entire life.
2006 and beyond: Suture up your future. Claire's mutation surfaced right before she turned sixteen years old. It was at the beginning of the new school year and consequence with an epic argument with her mother. Elise visited her at Headington, in order to let her know how her brother was doing. Claire, who shared her father's opinion on Elise's telepathy issues, dismissed her. Elise took offence and the argument broke between the two. During their heated quarrel, Elise tried to access Claire's mind, but as she felt her mother's poking around her head, Claire nearly exploded with rage. All at once, every radio, every television, every cellphone — every receiver through the campus — was filled with static; Claire's hair cracked with it. The fight ended there at once. Claire freaked once the flow of decoded information seeped into her mind, and Elise was bombarded by the strength of her daughter's mental projection.
After her mother left — Claire nearly expelled her from her dorm —, the static energy faded. Appliances returned to her normal, receiving state. Claire, however, did not. A splitting headache had developed, along with a buzzing sound in her ears, which, more than a nuisance, was driving her mad. The information flow subdued, though. Freaked with what had happened, she seeked the advice of the head nurse, who failed to understand her complaint. Frustrated, she required a leave on medical reasons, and left Headington for Edinburgh to meet her brother, in hopes that he'd help her figure out what was going on with her.
Knowing of his sister's distress, Fred joined them, and the three cooped up in Nigel's apartment for the rest of the week. It wasn't long until the siblings figured that, her mother being capable of telepathic abilities, Claire was, most likely, a mutant as well. To lighten their moods, Fred often wondered if he was a mutant himself, and what was his power. He came to the conclusion that his mutant ability was to "look good in tight pants" and Nigel's was that of "going without showering for a week without reeking". They tried to reenact the triggering of Claire's reaction, but to no avail. Never again she lost control as it happened the first time. Now, her trouble was to tune out the radio signals she kept picking up.
Returning to school, she didn't dare to tell anyone about her recent discovery; a gut feeling told her that while the staff could be understanding, the student population surely wouldn't be. She resolved to keep quiet, and did a brilliant job. The only person who ever found out during her stay at Headington, was her roommate, Jemima Wilkins, and it happened by accident. She promised then not to tell a soul and kept her promise ever since. As time passed, the two girls became close.
Her mutation served her to regain some of the long-lost discipline she used to have. She delved deeply in the subject of electromagnetism, trying to figure out how her ability worked. From there, she studied Physics and Computer Sciences, absorbing as much information as she possibly could. All the while, she tested her power for what she was able to do, learning her limits and working her way around them. She began to practice yoga, in order to boost her concentration, so it would be easier for her to use her newly-found ability.
When she left Headington in the Summer of 2008, Claire decided to go abroad, and chose New York City as her destination. Returning home wasn't an option, due to the strained relationship with her mother. Fred and Nigel were away, and Rupert spent more time at the office than home — so what was the point? She applied for Columbia University, and after receiving notice of her acceptance, she left London for New York, where she currently resides.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Referenced by Enzo Cox. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: None. Sample RP: It was a little past eight in the morning when Claire finally decided it was time to drag herself off bed. The alarm clock had been blaring non-stop for the last five minutes, and the city noise reached her through the studio's open window. New York City was already brimming with life, a realisation that did nothing for her negative mood. Collecting all her will so she wouldn't be tempted to return to sleep, Claire got up quickly, a motion that left her feeling quite light-headed. Her stomach complained loudly and a wave of sickness washed over her. The mixture of hunger and nausea made her double over, arms crossed around her midriff.
Deciding against the shower, all thoughts drifted to scrumptious chocolate muffins and tall lattes. As she picked a discarded tank top off the floor and pushed it down her head, she wondered how much money did she had on her; the idea of hitting the ATM so early in the morning was enough to make her cringe — she knew she was pretty skint. Sitting half-dressed on the floor, she peered inside her favourite handbag and counted the loose change scattered amidst its contents. Two-thirteen. Her expression darkened at once. That couldn't be right. She recounted it.
Two-thirteen.
Which was just fine for breakfast, but what about lunch? Dinner? Claire bit on her lower lip, retrieving the money from the bottom of the bag. She counted it again, again, and again. Two dollars and thirteen cents.
A string of muttered curses escaped her. She punched her bare thighs.
Looking around the house, she frantically searched through purses and jeans' pockets. A dime, biscuit crumbs, a barrette. Two forgotten British pennies behind the bathroom sink. A ten-dollar bill under the sofa. Success! A victorious grin spread across her freckled face, and she tucked the bill safely into her handbag.
Sitting on the kitchenette countertop, Claire wondered when money had became such a pressing issue; she hadn't worried about it her entire life. There was always a nice amount of it in her bank account. So how did she end up searching for loose change all through her place?
Back when she had broke the news to her parents that she had been accepted in Columbia and was therefore moving to New York, her father devised a financial plan with her — he had offered to pay for her little studio on the sole condition that she would find herself a job to cover her own expenses. She promptly agreed, and the rent money fell steadily on her account. However, three years and a maxed-out credit later, she found herself bankrupt, and since she was almost done with college, Rupert didn't understand why she couldn't just return to London after the graduation. "If you want to stay there, you'll have to fend for yourself," he had told her on the phone a week ago, "I'm not paying for flights of fancy, lass."
At the moment, Claire felt she had hit the bottom, with little more than twelve bucks in her hand to prove it.
On the countertop next to her rested a pack of Lucky Strike that had seen better days. Her hand searched for it automatically, and the redhead checked its contents. Three cigarettes. A desolated sigh escaped her. She took one, placed it between her lips, and began to chew on the filter almost immediately, as if deciding whether to smoke it or save it for later. Touching the countertop, she found a lighter; it was colourful, decorated with a psychedelic design. Claire didn't recognise it, but shrugged it off. It probably belonged to Michael, or Maxwell, whatever his name was. She lit up the cigarette and took a long drag off it, her mind reeling.
She could always hack into someone's bank account. It wasn't that hard, after all — not for her, at least. She chewed on her cigarette, nursing the idea. People died everyday; who would notice a missing hundred quid from some dead old bloke's account? No one, right?
Claire mentally slapped herself — bloody hell? Sure, she wasn't exactly the most outstanding citizen around, but was she actually considering theft? Was she that desperate? A tiny voice inside her head shouted "Yes!", but Claire dismissed it, disgusted.
She wouldn't dare to ask her brothers for money; Fred was starting a new life, and Nigel was struggling just as bad as she was, so it was out of the question. Getting a real job was in order, and fast. But even if she found herself one in the next ten minutes, she'd starve until the end of the week.
Her cellphone blinked into life and jittered on the counter. Claire stared at it; she didn't believe in divinities, but she knew a sign when it hit her in the face — her saviour was only a ring away. Snatching the phone from its resting spot, she quickly dialled the memorised number, before her moxie failed her.
"Hello, Jem? It's Claire, hi. Listen, I'm in a pickle here. Can you lend me some money...?"

Ooh, a friend of Enzo's?! Welcome aboard! Your character sounds like one cool girl, and I absolutely love the fact that her cat is named Ziggy Stardust.

Aww, thank you all! *basks in the lurve!*
White Noise, a special batch of cookies just for you for allowing me to keep my mutation. The interaction between these two should be interesting at least.
Gina, the love for Mr. Bowie is just too great. Spiders from Mars-huggle, now! ^^
