The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Individual
Character's full name: Rose Michelle Larson Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: Phase Gender: Female Age: 14 Date of Birth: May 8, 1997
Nationality/ Ethnicity: White Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Eugene, Oregon
Appearance
Hair color and style: Rose is famous back home for her bright red, usually fairly long hair. She usually wears it down, but will often put it into a ponytail if it gets annoying enough. Eyes: light brown Height: 5'7 Build: Average. Visible mutation: None. Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: She has a few ear piercings on her left upper ear. Nothing really fancy, just little clips. Other features: Phase is a mute. As in, she can't talk. And don't you dare call her dumb, or deaf. That's a one-way ticket to getting smacked in the face.
Everyday clothing style: She usually goes for something along the lines of "cute, but not really excessive". Throughout history, Jacket-scarf combos have been her favorite. Uniform: N/a Sleepwear: Loose t-shirt and undies. Miscellaneous clothing: She often wears a little key on a rope around her neck. There's nothing really fancy to it, she just likes it.
Character
Personality: Phase is, by all means, a perfectly likeable person. She's weird, yes, and stubborn like a mule, and definitely not afraid to get violent if you annoy her. But by every other standard, she's friendly, sociable, empathetic, and loyal to a fault. However, if it's her one big fault, she's not likely to forget your name if you make her upset. She can hold a grudge for years if chance lets her. Hobbies/ Interests: She's especially interested in ASL, for obvious reasons, though that's more of a necessity than an actual interest. As far as actual interests are concerned, she loves to draw. Job or part time job and description: She's too young for an actual job. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Heights, Clowns, and snakes. In that order. All of these she's extremely terrified of. Special talents: She used to be a diamond at Track and Field. In particular, sprints and hurdles are her specialty. So naturally, she's an amazing runner over short distance.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good, for the most part. She does tend to see the best in people. However, she's not afraid to dish out some serious punishment if she thinks they deserve it, even if it goes outside her moral boundaries.
Mutation Kinetic Phasing
Mutation description: Phase (as her name implies) is capable of shifting her entire body (along with whatever she's in direct skin contact with, so long as it's under 200 pounds total) into a single, solid bundle of kinetic energy. The phase will only last for a few seconds, and she has to be in motion to do it. However, while phasing, whatever speed she was moving at will double, she will appear to be invisible to any bystander, and her movements will be devoid of gravity (meaning if she phases directly upward, she'll keep going that way in zero-gravity until she re-forms). While these are very serious benefits, her power also comes with another few pointers.
When phasing, her body is made up of kinetic energy. So, if it were to hit an object of some kind, that force would transfer into the object. This produces a sort of drag onto anything she touches while phasing. The force exerted is enough to catapult furniture, shatter glass, and even bend weaker metals. This is not to say that she can break through anything. But any solid object unable to withstand a sedan at 20mph is fair game for being decimated. Strengths:-Versatility: because her power both increases her speed and exerts substantial force, it can make both a formidable weapon and a useful tool. -Flow-through: since, while phasing, she isn't actually solid, she can flow through an object that lets through air, such as a screen or chain-link fence, without having to destroy it first. -Break-through: should the need arise for Phase to go through a solid object, she has that option as well, and can bash through most weaker materials when phasing. Weaknesses:-Motion: since her power just amplifies her speed, she can't use it if she isn't moving in the first place. the bare minimum she must be going (in frame of reference to herself, so this discounts cars, unless she's running on them) is 8 mph, or just below sprinting speeds. -Time frame: Phase can only phase for a few seconds at maximum. Her absolute best time is six seconds. Since it doubles her speed, and her fastest running speed is 12mph, this means her absolute best she could possibly do is 24mph for six seconds. And in terms of distance, that'll get you about a dozen yards. So it's not an extremely effective method of travel. -Stealth: While she is invisible while phasing (minus objects being thrown where she's going), the sudden displacement of air coming both in and out often produces a loud thumping noise, which isn't exactly stealthy. -Steering: Because her brain doesn't actually exist when she's phasing, that means she has a sort of blackout when she's phasing. And since you can't exactly think when your brain doesn't exist, she can't steer herself when she's in the midst of a phase. -Cooldown: After she re-forms, there's a short, 5-second cooldown period before she can phase again. It's not much, but it's still something to be considered.
Fighting Style Run for it
Explanation: Improvised fighting for just long enough to get an opening, then run like hell. Pros for fighting style: It usually works well enough when she's by herself. Cons for fighting style: She's not much of a team player...
Faction Allegiance No one, technically. While she does go to Xavier's Sister School, she's not yet a member of the X-men.
History Of Your Character Phase probably lived one of the most normal lives in the mutant community. She has a mother and a father, both of whom are her biological parents, and both of whom are still alive. She has two older siblings and one younger sibling, none of which are psychopaths. She isn't homeless, they aren't refugees, and the most recent death in the family was that of her grandmother when Phase was 2. All in all, she almost lived the American dream for the first 12 years of her life. And had the American dream accounted for six X-genes in a family of six, then she would have been living the American dream.
Yes, you heard that correctly. Every single person in her family is a mutant. However, it was only very recently that the Larson family became intertwined with Xavier's Sister School. But that wasn't until much later. After all, most lessons on mutant ethics and such could just be taught at home. And Phase's parents were very sure to start such an education early. But they couldn't do anything until her power emerged. What they couldn't forsee was the disaster that would strike when it did emerge.
It was dead in the middle of a Track meet. The 100m dash, with four hurdles to jump. This was it. If Eugene Middle school managed to win, they took home the trophy for the first time in years. And since the rookie named Rose had made quite a name for herself, she would be running this race. All the pressure was on her. She was stressed. She was anxious. And she was about to start running. Almost the instant the starter pistol fired, she was phasing.
She almost made it to the first hurdle before re-forming. Just before she hit it, she came back, and tripped over the thing. She was unconscious for a few hours, and hospitalized for a few days. It became quickly apparent in those few days that the concussion she'd sustained after hitting the turf had paralyzed her vocal chords. She would be unable to communicate verbally, probably for the rest of her life.
Her parents tried to keep the normal life going. They kept her enrolled in school, kept on going like nothing had happened. But it quickly became apparent that, for many reasons, she could not continue in her current public school program. She would have been accepted at the Special Education program, but Phase made it very clear that she'd rather die than ride the short bus. For her 8th grade year, her parents did their best to home-school her, but it became fairly obvious very fast that it wasn't much of an option. With two working parents, they struggled quite a bit. By the end of the year, they were quite exhausted. So they took the only option available to them: They sent her to start High School at Xavier's Sister School for Gifted Youngsters.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: My friend referred me. I do believe his character is also named Charlie. I'll have to talk to him about that... Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Nope. I be a first-timer. Sample RP: Phase sat silently in the airplane seat.
It was something she did quite often. It wasn't like there was much else she could do. She couldn't listen to music, seeing as her headphones were broken. She couldn't read a book, or else risk getting airsick. The same went for sleeping. And there was too much turbulence to do any drawing, with four pages of wobbly lines as her witness. And she couldn't get any fresh air, as they were 50,000 feet above the ground. So Phase was stuck sitting in the teensy little airplane seat listening to some fat old guy snoring next to her. At least she had a window seat.
Phase felt that particular train of thought just keep on going. It finally skidded to a halt right in the dead center of "Technically, you've been sitting silently for the past two years." It was right about then and there that Phase decided she'd had more than enough of thinking down that lane, and she shut it out as best she could. She instead focused on the mountains stretched out below her. She felt like a goddess up here, and not some weird mute mutant girl. It didn't help that this was also her first airplane flight. After all, between her and her siblings, Phase's parents never had enough money for this. They could barely afford the one-way trip to New York.
"Would you care for any refreshments, miss?"
Phase whipped her head around, sending her bright red hair flying. It was just the creepy old flight attendant with the drink cart. Though that was probably bad enough.
Phase had to think a little bit, struggling to remember the appropriate hand motions, before she was able to sign out, "Water, please?" She mouthed the words as she said them, just in case the other lady didn't know ASL.
She must have, because she quickly handed Phase a bottle of water. Phase quickly thanked the woman as she began to walk away. She sighed slightly as she opened the bottle and took a sip.
