Individual
Character's full name: Nathaniel Enzo Cox Morinetti (Enzo Cox) Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: not yet applicable, but I thought about "Shroud" Gender: Male Age: 17 Date of Birth: (17/11/1993) Nationality/ Ethnicity: multiple citizenship (Italian and American) Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Venice, Italia
Appearance
Hair color and style: Light brown. Due to some lazyness, Enzo frequently cuts his hair military short, then as it grows he will keep it's shape with the help of hairdriers or some sort of gel. Once he tires of it or thinks it's starting to look bad, he'll just start over with another super short cut Eyes: Dark brown Height: 1,78 cm (5.8 feet) Build: Slim; He is very self-aware of his looks, hence swimming or just exercising at home to keep his body shape just right. He doesn't, however, eat too many proteins, since he doesn't like the idea of having an excessively large body. Visible mutation: (if applicable) Occasionaly, due to lack of power control, a section of his body might change color or show some weird reflection Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: None, although he fancies the idea of doing both. He hasn't mainly because his parents aren't fond of the idea, though he's sure they'd get over it Other features: Due to the fact his parents speak to him in both English and Italian - and because his childhood was mostly spent in his birthplace - Enzo has a relatively strong accent. Anybody would notice it, although it doesn't make him look like an italian comedy cliché. The accent is also more noticeable if Enzo is in some sort of distress.
Everyday clothing style: Enzo usually dresses up very casually, often subconsciously choosing his clothes so as to show off. He dislikes denim, prefering to explore other types of materials for his pants, usually going for some sort of neutral line pattern with no pockets on the back. As for the top, he enjoys sleeveless shirts with band refferences, fantasy illustrations or the occasional sexual pun; if it is cold, he might add a shirt or, in extreme cases, a simple jacket. As most teenagers, Enzo elected sneakers as his footwear of choice. He's extremely picky about them, usually taking hours just to find something he likes and deems worthy of covering his feet. The color palette varies a lot, normally excluding oversaturated colors. He likes soft blues, blacks, greys, a bit of red now and then and, for a warm summer's "cool factor", a strong green. Uniform: (if applicable) Sleepwear: Enzo usually sleeps in his underwear, he can't stand any sort of heat when trying to sleep. In the summer, he usually needs to cool his feet with some water before sleeping. Miscellaneous clothing:
Character
Personality: Due to his mediterranean origins, Enzo is normally a very warm and loud person, which might strike the nerve of random people on the bus or cause a bit of discomfort amidst new acquaintances. This doesn't unbalance him at all, though. This doesn't mean he is empty at all when it comes to more profound topics; albeit a total desinterest in politics and terrible geographical notions, Enzo is very open to discuss themes like music and theology. He likes people a lot, and getting to know them is usually something very motivating. Of course his mutation has changed his views on his position amidsts homo sapiens, but up until then he has had no real trouble except his parents freaking out over some red hair busyness he passed as his friend's stupid idea. Enzo is also very full of himself, although he has little to no control of his power; he is certain he'll be able to handle it eventually, and if it wasn't for the fact he's unsure of how much trouble boasting about it would give him, he would've already told everyone about it. Hobbies/ Interests: Enzo is very into the whole internet culture thing. He isn't exactly geekish, but he likes to wander around some forums, is very into his facebook account, and likes to share his (not-any-good) photos on tumblr. He is also into competitive videogames, owning a PS3 and titles such as Soul Calibur IV and Call of Duty: Black OPS. He likes to read, but is usually a lazy book buyer, having already read all the books he owns and some of his mother's. Apart from that, he enjoys swimming and travelling, music and drawing. Job or part time job and description: (if applicable) Jobs can be established later through in character RPing. If you plan on working at the mansion it will have to be approved. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Although he is very boastful and happy, Enzo isn't very fond of the dark and the idea of isolation unneases him. Sometimes, if he is alone at home at night, he won't dare himself out of his room unless he gets absurdly hungry or his friends are waiting for him somewhere. He also hates the notion of mortality, although he isn't very fearful of doing dangerous stuff; it's just the idea that he is finite and will age that just really gets him disturbed. Finally, Enzo is terrified at the idea of flying an airplane, or any type of flying for that matter; he likes to feel attached to the ground. Special talents: (not related to mutation) Enzo is very good at drawing, although he is a bit limited to existing references; this means he is lacking on the imaginary department. In fact, he isn't even very fond of illustrations unless they are taken to a high level of realism.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. Nathaniel Enzo is sort of new to this whole reality and, although he "sided" with the mutants before he knew he was one, all this idea of factions or battles hasn't sunk yet. His priority is trying to keep up with his life and getting his powers under his grasp. He does, however, fancy the idea of meeting others of his kind. Hence, he is, for now, neutral, but life might direct him one way or another.
Mutations
Mutation description: Light absortion/repulsion. Enzo can change the way his body absorbs or reflects visible light, which, due to physical phenomena, will change his skin color. Taken to it's extremes - maximum absortion being black, and maximum reflection a bright white - has secondary effects. Black objects, as is known, heat quicker than bright ones, and the same happens to Enzo; if blackened, he will absorb heat faster, which might render him untouchable due to heat. Bright white - reflection - means that he might become very bright. These effects depend on the present light source and temperature, and it always takes time for him to become relevantly hot. The time it takes will expand from minutes to hours, depending on the environment's temperature and light exposure. His power allows him to change interaction with the light at the speed of thought, and the skin responds immediately, although you can sort of see him skin changing from the color spectrum until he stops. Strengths: Enzo is sort of a tactical element, his ability possibly confusing his enemies and lending them to the thought of him as a shapeshifter. In the right conditions, the ability to reflect light might hurt his foe's eyes and surprise them, and the ability to absorb light - if given him the time to heat - will make him a nice physical fighter. He can also use this power to try and camouflage himself, although this highly depends on his clothes and the surrounding landscape. Weaknesses: His power's effectiveness depends on the presence of a strong light source, more even if he wants to absorb heat; after all, Enzo cannot generate light. Nocturnal lights will not suffice for full reflection/absortion effects; at best, he will either look nearly white or just like a dark human mass. Also, absortion doesn't only depend on the sun, but also on the environment's temperature; it works like a lizard's necessity for the daily sun to heat up and move. Wintery conditions will just make him cold, like it would work with anyone else.
Note: at the moment this was written, Enzo can't even manipulate his own body as a whole. Also note that Enzo can reach temperatures as high as 60ºC on this form but he cannot change form until his body reaches a manageable temperature (less than 40ºC) at the peril of death, fainting or serious internal burns and damages, like any other human being.
Secondary mutation description: (if applicable) This mutation should be linked or make sense with your first mutation. You don't need a second mutation, but you can develop one later on with moderator approval. Strengths: Weaknesses:
Fighting Style
Explanation: Enzo hasn't developed a fighting style yet. However, since he is kind of cocky, he'll probably be a bit more aggressive than his powers would normally allow him to. He will pretty much rely on his ability to play with his opponent's sight, and might at times opt for his overheating ability. He needs to understand the how he works in terms of physics, so he can use it. Pros for fighting style: Tactical play can be very valuable if well used (reflection to dazzle opponents) Cons for fighting style: His cockyness might render him useless, specially because he can be easily provoked. Discipline is in order.

History Of Your Character:
Nathaniel Enzo Cox Morinetti was born in Venice in 1993 to 31-years-old american Brandon Cox - a somewhat renown graphic designer - and 29-years-old italian Nunzia Morinetti - a fashion photographer. They had met four years ago, and only after a year of some intense contact and a common project for a fashion event in Milan, did they have their first romantic contact. This went on for some time, albeit some discussions due to intense professional demands and different views on marriage (he being completely open to the idea, she not wanting it at all), until, in 1992, Nunzia accepted the idea due to immigration issues and the fact that they both agreed on having a child. A few months later, Nunzia discovered she was pregnant - which resulted in a lot of anxiety inside the father's head - and she decided to take leave for a while so she could get as prepared as possible to educate her future son. It was an odd feeling for her, to settle inside her Venetian house and suddenly discover all the pieces of "trash" she left there due to years of coming and going without actually staying. Dazzled with the experience of pregnancy, she did many self-portrait series about it, including a very popular stop-motion that showed how her body changed, which consisted in taking a daily picture of herself in a position similar to the one in the previous photo. So, in a way, Enzo was sort of famous even before he was born; a picture of him in her mother's tired arms concluded said stop-motion, and later another picture was taking to include the father, who had had to be absent that day due to a problematic deadline. They had already discussed the kid's name, of course, and proudly started calling him by both his names, until the comodity of just calling him "Enzo" kicked in. Charmed by his own kid, Brandon Cox decided to do like Katsumi Komagata and design his own set of educational books for him, which the mother loved. This relationship with the kid became somewhat known amidst the illustration comunity, and Brandon got a new job offer in Milan which paid a whole lot more nicely than his previous one in the States, with the advantage that he wouldn't be having to travel half as much. On the other side, his mother had become more popular as well, which forced her to be a less present mother when Enzo was at the age of three. However, the kid grew up happily, greeting his mother with warmth everytime her tired self returned home. This would lighten her mood very much, and so the parents relationship became more and more solid, with the question of having another kid hanging over their heads. Nathaniel Enzo's brother, Andre, was born when he was three. At first, the idea of a younger brother thrilled him endlessly, but when the attention he was receiving and the stories about the deeds that happened around his mother's pregancy both wavered, little Enzo started resenting his brother deeply. His mother - who had also prepared herself by reading more about the possibilities of having two kids - understood this, and started pressing the father to devide their attention equaly. In a way, both kids were becoming spoiled, every feat greeted with chants of happiness and success. With money coming sure and comfortably, both Brandon and Nunzia started pondering the possibility of moving elsewhere. Nunzia was tired of her deceased mother's hometown, and the fact that Brandon was working for Milan sort of attracted both towards the capital of Italy. However, they postponed the thought for a few years due to Nunzia's projects, and so came a new job opportunity for Brandon: Pentagram Design was very impressed with his portfolio, and they wanted him in one of their offices. After much talk, both parents decided that New York was by far the most attractive destination, and the one that he should apply for. Enzo was thirteen when they caught a plane to the United States, forever leaving Venice behind. The voyage was sort of shaky due to a lot of turbulence over the Atlantic, which horrified the teenager boy, who was already terrified with the thought of flying. It was inexplicable. His first year in New York was sort of a fight for identity. In fact, he almost felt like a tourist, "the italian guy" was pretty much how every other kid referred to him, and his noisy habbits often got him in trouble. However, Enzo was always encouraged at home, and he would not give him, stubborn as he was. Eventually, some "cool factors" started working for him - his accent stopped being a motive of laughter and started being considered sexy by some of his female colleagues, his looks started defining themselves and he dressed accordingly, and he showed some proficiency at sports and drawing - and he got what he wanted: friends. From that age to sixteen, Enzo's education both at home and at school started shaping his thoughts, and he showed that his looks didn't mean he was in any way stupid. He also started using the web a lot more, read a nice deal about things, and started taking a real interest in just knowing people. All of this happened in a very innocent point of view - he didn't think that much about romancing or attraction - but, when he was sixteen, Enzo started getting a nice number of girls rotating towards him. He dissed most of them without much interest (did attraction really make people that stupid?) but a girl called Johanna caught his attention amidst the masses. They started hanging out more - picking the interest of both of their friends - and during new year's eve, while they were sitting on the top floor of Enzo's house (his family was hosting a big party) her face bent towards him. They kissed for a few seconds, until his lips parted from hers. Then, he smiled, and simply said "I guess there were some things about myself that I ignored". Johanna laughed, and replied "I was afraid of being right about them. No biggie". The friends smiled at each other, and simply stood there for a little while longer. Enzo left his newfound knowledge about who attracted him where it was, trying instead to figure himself out in other departments, namely what he was going to do for a living. His parent's life fascinated him, although the turbulence of it sort of scared him - that, and the idea that both traveled an awful deal by plane - but he decided he'd invest on his drawing abilities. Secretly, he feared his difficulty at translating his imagination to the paper would damage any investment on a future as a Designer. He also became interested in the "mutant problem", as it started getting more and more media attention. This started when rumours of a kid leaving their school because he transformed into some sort of grotesk beast woke him up for that reality. It was all sort of scary and disturbing, really; the idea of someone being ble to see through his flaws and self-lies, or to kill him in million different ways was not at all attractive, but he was sure some of these people were actually very responsible and just fighting for their right to existence. He didn't really know, but his curiosity sort of pulled him towards news and articles on the web, most of each extremist either towards one side or another. Due to identity issues, he would often defend homo sapiens if it seemed correct. However, it's clear - not to him, of course - that's it's all too easy to speak about when he was not directly among the involved parties. It's Mondy, July 11th, 2011 now. Three days ago, to celebrate their vacations, Enzo, Johanna and three more friends - Judy, Carla and Peter - had decided to go out to a gay club, just out of curiosity and to sort of play a bit with Enzo's apparent romantic lacklustre. They had a nice set of fake IDs, and the bouncers didn't seem to care about checking anyway, which was probably due to Enzo and his straight male friend's good looks. It was sort of shocking, really. They were expecting to be the youngest around, but they didn't actually expect a large number of the men inside to be the age of their parents, nor that the apparant excessive heat would put most of these men to parade around shirtless or with disturbing outfits. But they had paid good money to get in, and Enzo particularly was not fond with the thought of leaving just because some of the people there were weird. They went inside, found themselves a spot on the dancefloor, and started partying with a big nice "ignore " aura around them, dedicated to the rest of the audience. Eventually, Enzo had to go to the bathroom. He kind of feared what sort of place it would be but, apart for a couple kissing just outside of it, the place looked like any other bathroom. Once inside, he decided he definitely prefered to use the toilet. The sound of the wc's door opening and closing provided a bit of music while he was busy and, once done, he opened the toilet's door to find a cute guy just outside of it, staring at him. Enzo smiled warmly, not at all intimidated, and, although he meant to walk just past the other boy, his steps were hindered by his voice: "It's really not the kind of place you expected, is it?" he asked, smiling. He had really nice features, which stole a bit of Enzo's usual courage, but he guessed that he might as well answer. "I didn't have many expectations, really." He smiled educatedly, walking towards the mirrored sink, trying not to look like he was ignoring the other; simply, he needed a little pause from those intense brown eyes. He lowered his face to turn on the watered, but a movement in his reflexion caught his eye, and he instinctively moved a bit to the left. The other boy had neared him, pretty much invading his comfort zone, which was unpleasant. "What are you doing, ragazzo?" he asked. He'd always loosen up his language when he got nervous like this. "I'm sorry, it's just that...I always get very happy whenever I meet one of us" the other guy said. His facial expression was weird. Enzo was starting to fear he was inside the bathroom with some sort of psycho. "Dude, we're on a gay bar, why would you even be surprised to meet a guy like me? Anyway, gotta go" he added, not really caring about being polite anymore. Enzo turned his back on the weirdo, but, before he could take a second step, the other caught his hand. Now, at this point, Nathaniel Enzo would've become a bit aggressive, since this was an absolute abuse. He'd probably have had ripped his hand from the other guy's grip and shouted something like "Just let go of me already!". But the hand that caught hold of him was didn't belong to someone "normal" - at least according to the majority of the homo sapiens. It felt like a some sort of slow electric shock started spreading from his right hand into the rest of his body. At first he thought he was feeling some sort of pain, but the effect was just dazzling, comparable to jumping into cold water after spending hours under the sun. A little bit confused, he realized the other male’s face approached his, and he closed his eyes – his skin still immersed in that strange feeling. They kissed. He could've tried parting lips, but soon Enzo realized he didn't want to. Later he could blame his libido, but the fact was that he was enjoying it, his skin felt almost electric and kept buzzing hundreds of feelings towards his brain. It was confusing, but an amazing sensation altogether.
Someone else had gotten inside the bathroom, but simply ignored the duo. A cold shower fell over Enzo when the boy disconnected the kiss. He felt slighly confused, his head still a bit fuzzy. However, he also felt heartbroken; the rush of feelings had picked, morphing into bliss, and now he felt like he was on the real world again, and the real world was grey. The other guy approached him, making Enzo shiver, but then he bent over to his side and whispered in his ear: "It's a beautiful power, my brother. If they ask, some crazy guy painted your hair." And, just like that, he was gone. Enzo stayed there for a little while longer, dizzy. He was sure two or three men had passed by, not really caring to ask how he felt. Finally, a pair of arms shook him, calling out his name: Peter. He was really concerned, at once pulling Enzo towards another sink and washing his face. He spoke a great deal of words, but none of them were audible to Enzo. Finally: "What did you do to your hair?" "Che?" he asked. That's when he saw it. Streaks of red hair shone brightly, as if freshly painted, among his gelled brown self. Enzo's confusion reached an unbearable state. He tried to go away from his friend, but the other one - worried as he was - prevented it. "I'm kind of sick" Enzo spoke feebly "Some guy...he...he painted my hair for some reason."
Today, Enzo had shaved his head completely so he would stay out of trouble. He still hasn't understood what exactly happened. His friends spoke of drugs on drinks, but the boy was sure he didn't drink anything. In fact, the more he thought about it, the more he was certain he could remember everything that happened to him. His face turned towards the computer once more. What if..?
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google is my friend =) Sample RP:
(two days ago)
Nathaniel Enzo had slept really well that night. Reality and dream fused. He had seen the sun in his dreams, bright and intense, illuminating his way through one of those generic areas we give familiar names during our dreams, but actually look nothing like the original location. It was just a generic park, huge and filled with faceless individuals. More like black humanoid masses. The other boy had been there. His face was not really his; it smiled to Enzo. They walked together, hand in hand. The sun shone brighter still, seeming more and more important as they traversed the green field. Finally, the other boy simply said: "Look at you. Just like a star." Enzo was shining brightly, unbearably. His heart raced, he screamed in panic. Then he woke up. The door to the room opened right after it, bringing like. It was Johanna. "Enzo, you ok?" she asked, worried "I thought you had turned the light on or something.." He looked at her figure, only partially illuminated. His head was all fuzzy. Still, he anwered, his voice already half-way to it's usual tone: "I think I had a terrible dream, ragazza. My head feels really funny. Am I at your place?" Her figure relaxed. She walked into the room, meaning to open the window. "Mom's not home. I expected as much, but it wasn't a very nice talking to your father, he was worried and my explanations on what you were doing that kept you from coming home won't get you out of trouble with that hair of yours. I really think you should cut it." She sat beside him, the sun shining brightly right in. Enzo realized he was still in last night's clothes, stinking of tobacco and sweat. It was not very pleasant but there was nothing he could do except taking a bath, avoiding his shirt and running home asap. Still, this sort of practical thinking stopped when he realized he had a really important question to ask, the key to all of this. "What happened?" Johanna bit the inside of her left cheek nervously, as she always did when she was uncertain of something important. "We're not sure, Enzo. Peter found you all weird inside the bathroom, your hair is painted red for some disturbing reason. We decided it was time to leave. The doorman was actually very kind to us - you know, he was a scary butch man, but he seemed honestly concerned, even told us you might've been drugged- but we thought the best was to take you home. I'm sorry, we were trying to avoid trouble to all of us, I know you might've wanted to go to the hospital, but still." "It's ok, Johanna" Enzo said, interrupting her. She would always go on like that whenever nervous, it was useless to let her keep talking till she started saying the same things over and over. He tried organizing his head; damn, was he slow! The kid sat up, getting a hold of his head. "Damn, I feel so strange today!" It was like there was something different about his body - his head - but, simultaneously, it was as if nothing changed. Almost like...he just realized he had the ability to smell things, but only had just discovered he could use it. The idea of his hair with red flashes came to him; it had not been a dream, had it? He opened his eyes to Johana, attempting to smile.
"Man, I feel like a mess today. Care to do my hair?"
