The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Personal questions. That did it.
"I'm sorry, Kealey." Shin frowned, completely ignoring the cat on her shoulders questions. "I tried. Really, I did. But I can't deal with the cat. He's a murderer. And he's on your shoulders. Shouldn't we be more worried?" After all, this kid was dangerous.
"No offense, cat." Shin looked to the cat. "But you are a little frightening." Talking cats were for anime, not real life. This cat's name was Calley, not Luna. This was weird.

Shin spoke, and Kealey stared, face falling slightly as his words registered with her. Truth be told, she hadn’t considered that Shin might have a problem with Calley hanging around when he got home. The points he brought up…were fair, she supposed, but she was still confused at why his feelings on the matter were so intense. If she was okay with it...why would there be anything to worry about? They could discuss it later.
”Calley, if you could please get down.” she said softly, setting down the box of macaroni she’d been getting ready to put in the cabinet. The cat’s relative location was apparently a point of contention, but one she was more than willing to yield, especially considering the fact that sometimes the cat was not a cat at all, but a young man.
“I don’t think we need to be worried, though. This is a social visit as an adorable little kitty. To talk about travels. Nothing dangerous.” she said simply.
To the cat she said, ”And I don’t think your talking is frightening at all.”

Calley
Here Calley had thought he’d been getting on the man’s nerves simply because he was a cat boy on his girlfriend’s shoulders. Not so, apparently. Nope. Apparently, the Asian had to go… there.
>> “But I can't deal with the cat. He's a murderer. And he's on your shoulders. Shouldn't we be more worried?"”
No offense. Yeah. The little cat stood up, caught his balance on Kealey’s shoulder, and made a light leap to the countertop.
>> ”And I don’t think your talking is frightening at all.”
“Thanks,” the cat murmured, its tail tip curling around its small paws. “Umm, would you mind if I borrowed some pants for a little bit? Then I could stand on the floor.” Baby blue eyes flicked towards the dog, who was a good three or four times his size. And seemed awfully bipolar, based upon whether he was picking up on the feelings of his master or his mistress at the moment.
“I could help put away groceries,” he offered, somewhat lamely.

Not just weird. This was stressful. The way Kealey's face sank, the way Kealey's heart sank, the way her voice dropped to a tone low enough to convey a message, without ruffling anybody's fur the wrong way.
Shin had done this. He had caused all the happiness in the room to blow out, like pricking a hole in a birthday balloon. Everything sailed around for a minute in a bout of dispersal, then settled. Calley on the floor, Shin against the counter, leaning. Arms crossed.
Even if all the happiness in the room hadn't escaped like a jet of air from a pierced rubber container, he felt like it had. His face was set in a grim frown. Shin hated causing Kealey unhappiness. And partially, right now he hated himself. Just a bit. Not enough to crush him or sink him into some sort of bleak despair. There was no swamp. No horse. No sinking and fear of being unable to stop the nothing. Just. Nothing.
Had Calley asked for pants? Shin's mind escaped the nothing long enough to grab onto that fact like a drowning man to a plank of wood. He pushed away from the counter, looking to Calley, then Kealey. A finger bent towards the room. "I'll... get something. Something. Yeah. Sorry." He bowed his head as he fled the room, emotions following him. Surely, the drama in the room would lessen slightly. Barely. "It's the least I could do." He said as he vanished through the doorway, into the hall.
In their room, he searched through his side of the closet for something for Calley to wear. If Kealey trusted him enough not to call him a murderer to his face... Shin tried to pick something that wouldn't be insulting to one of Kealey's friends.
Shin snagged a black short-sleeved t-shirt with a green star sign for Leo printed in the center, on the chest. He grabbed a pair of blue jeans.

Uh oh. Feedback loop. Feedback loop of negative emotions. Shin was not happy, and as a result, Kealey was even less happy than she had been. The blond didn’t know how Calley felt, but it couldn’t have felt good to have someone call you a murderer…even if technically you were. This was bad…this was really bad, and when Shin shoved off the counter to go get Calley some clothes, she shook her head.
”I’m sorry.” she said to Calley, giving him a sideways glance. “He…I just.” she paused for a moment, then shrugged, “That’s where I went after the first time we met.” The short explanation and apology would have to be enough.
Man. Kealey hated it when people weren't happy. Even more when Shin was involved.
((ooc: Slight god modding/time skip. Tell me if any edits are needed. ))
When the pants arrived, the cat politely inquired for both a bathroom and an assist in carrying the clothes there. As this was to avoid awkward shifter nakedness on top of his awkward shifter freak-cats-shouldn’t-talk, he assumed it was no problem. In any case: in addition to pants, he got a bonus shirt.
This was appreciated by the young Italian who padded back into the kitchen, wearing a socially appropriate amount of clothing in front of the lady of the house. No boxers, but that was between him and Hey-You-Murderer.
“So, umm,” the former cat asked, “do you need any help? With that?” The groceries, he meant. It was a little hard to tell from his gaze, which was somewhere between the countertop and the floor. Oh look, bare feet. Hello there.

Pants and shirt were presented. Help was given. The duo returned. Nothing much was said between them, during the entire ordeal. Calley broke the silence. With. Awkward floor-staring and more quiet questions. Shin almost felt bad.
Okay. Shin did feel a bit bad. Now. For two reasons.
Reason 1: He'd still made Kealey feel bad. That hadn't changed.
Reason 2: Calley deserved a bit more respect. Even if he had done horrible things. Hell. Shin had cut off Giant's Bane's arm. He'd done plenty of bad in his time. He'd even... gasp... stolen a motorcycle and gotten shot at by police. In another person's body. How all of this made him suddenly feel guilty for his previous actions, Shin wasn't sure. Maybe it was just because Calley was in his pants. Was that like walking a mile in another person's moccasins? Could it be? Sockless in moccasins wasn't quite going commando.
Going commando. Shin hadn't thought of that. Eh. The boy'd been a cat prior to shifting. Cats were pretty clean.
Thor seemed pretty surprised a boy had appeared from the room no boy had been in prior.
Shin nodded to the boy. "Thanks. And... sorry." He frowned. "That was probably a low blow... you were probably only trying to pay us a friendly visit..." His head was bowed.

Calley emerged, wearing Shin’s shirt and pants, and Kealey had to smile just a little bit despite the somber and silent mood in the room. The shirt the cat-boy was now wearing was far more appropriate than Calley could possibly have known. Unless he liked web-comics.
Now that Calley was a young man again, Kealey could understand even better why Shin had taken issue with the shoulder draping. If Calley was going to be a frequent visitor, some boundaries would need to be set. He asked a question.
Kealey opened her mouth to do the answering and save the two guys from having to interact, but Shin beat her to the proverbial punch. He apologized, and Kealey positively beamed at him. Shin was really great. Really, really great.
Tugging gently on the top of the bag she’d been digging in, Kealey pointed to the cabinet just in front of her, “All of the cans go in there.” she said. Then started casting around for a topic of conversation that was not awkward.
“So where did you go in Japan?” she asked, trying to get the visit back on track while she emptied another bag.
Cans? He could do cans. Cans and him, they went way back. Calley set himself to work, with great gusto, as the Asian awkwardly apologized.
As awkward apologies went, he was sure his was so much better.
“Sorry. I wasn’t really thinking, I guess. It’s my first time over here, and…” And Shin knew what he was, and what he’d done, and was reacting appropriately. The world probably could have used more people like him, actually. Calley tucked a can of soup up next to its already-shelved comrades. “When I’m in cat form, I don’t... I mean, I’m not-- …Sorry. At most of my homes, people just leave the window cracked, and I sort of wander in and out. You… don’t have to do that. I could knock.” If he came in through Ghosty’s window, he could borrow Jude’s clothes before he came over. His First Retainer wouldn’t mind.
>> “So where did you go in Japan?”
Calley winced. Mostly, the bag of groceries saw. So they were back to that.
“The airport, mostly.”
The Italian didn’t really lie, generally. But he didn’t go out of his way to elaborate, either.

Calley tried to behave, tried to apologize, and Shin appreciated it. The boy could have thrown the apology back in his face, or cried, or done any number of things. He chose to actually try and get them to understand how he felt.
Shin let Calley focus on the cans. It may have been rude not to help the boy put away their groceries, but he figured.... it gave Calley something to focus on, amid the awkward feelings in the room.
Kealey asked him a question, and there was a split second of silence. Calley answered. It was a strange answer.
