The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: Permission to carry the lil’ lady about)
IC:
Sam finished his slice of pizza all the while Kate voiced her dreams and the nice story she had of her mother and father. Nodding his head he listened and smiled when he watched her face light up, there was the Kate he had come to know and love not sad and quite Kate he had seen moments before. ”Not with that attitude!” Sam said as he stood up and walked over to Kate with a big devilish grin on his face. ”Sorry, your not gonna like this! At least the first part!”
Leaning over he grabbed Kate’s wrist and before she could properly protest he already swung her over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. ”This was what I was talking about the part you wouldn’t like.” taking his closest hand to Kate he placed it over the back of her thighs making sure her skirt wouldn’t ride high or any of the younger kids around the mansion could get a show. Other hand grabbed the two boxes of pizza.
She kicked and screamed telling Sam to put her down but he didn’t despite the cracked ribs and the injuries he had before Sam fought through the pain and quickly added, ”Your not making this easy for me!” luckily he was close to the elevator at this point and once he was in he clicked the basement button and winched slightly as he readjusted Kate on his shoulder.
As the doors to the elevator closed he looked back out and noticed they had created quite a commotion, a dozen or so girls were either pointing and gasping or giggling. Sam just replied with a grin and the elevator doors shut.
The doors opened a second later and Sam started to laugh, ”You know it’s funny how many people who live here forget that this place exists, sure it’s for training but it is only limited by your imagination.” Sam walked down the metallic hallway and the doors to the danger room opened with a loud whoosh and once inside he placed the boxes of pizza on the ground and then brought Kate to the center of the large dome.
”Computer!” Sam shouted as he set Kate down with a loud chuckle, ”Sam’s Archives, RD thirty-three!” The RD of course was a group of personal files Sam had created so he could bring romantic dates into the danger room, sure some of them were a little cheesy but thirty three was a close description to Kate’s story of her parents date so he decided he’d try it out.
A lake formed off a few feet from them as the stars lit up the ceiling. A few lamppost decorated a small cobble stone path that intertwined through the plants and trees that filled the grounds. The moon was full and close making the night rather bright. Off to their right there was a white table with two chairs and a candle in the middle of the table smelling of sandlwood. ”Don’t bother asking while I have this scnerio on file.”
Sam looked about then thought, ”You wanted snow right?” Sam smirked and then looked from Kate to the lake, ”Computer change seasons to winter, however keep air and snow to 80 degrees.” the grounds turned white and the lake froze over. Sam reached out and caught a falling snowflake despite the heat the danger room was still controlling it to be similar to regular snow so when it touched the palm of Sam’s hand it melted. ”All the perks of the winter none of the layers needed.”
>>Not with that attitude! Sorry, your not gonna like this! At least the first part!
Kate didn’t say anything as she watched Sam walk over to her with a devilish grin on her face. By the look of things she was most certainly not going to like this.
>>This was what I was talking about the part you wouldn’t like.
Kate gasped in alarm as he picked her up out of her chair and threw her over his shoulder. He was right, she didn’t like this one bit. At least he was a gentleman enough to make sure that her skirt wasn’t up around her hips.
“Sam Johnson you will put me down right this instant!” Kate had to be yelling at the top of her lungs as she tried to squirm her way off of his shoulder, forgetting all about his injuries and only concentrating on the fact that he was moving her against her will, “If you do not put me down you will find yourself covered in melted skin!!!”
>>Your not making this easy for me!
“No I’m not. Now. Put. Me. DOWN!” Kate could see all the girls in her hall standing behind her, watching their teacher carry her off.
After a few moments of struggle Kate gave up. She knew Sam was stronger then her and there really was no use. If she hadn’t gotten free form him by now she wasn’t going to. So, instead she chose to cross her arms with a scowl on her face and stare at the metal walls of the elevator.
>>You know it’s funny how many people who live here forget that this place exists, sure it’s for training but it is only limited by your imagination.
“What in the bloody hell are you blabbering on about.” In Kate’s anger she didn’t even really register the metal surrounding of the mansion’s sub level.
>>Computer! Sam’s Archives, RD thirty-three!
Kate clenched her fists in anger as she was placed on the floor in the center of the room. Was Sam’s head really so big that he thought this was alright? She always knew he was a little full of himself but this was ridiculous. What in gods name did he think he was doing?
Kate was so lost in her anger that she didn’t’ even notice the room around her start to change. She did however notice the fireball forming in her hand.
She took a few steps back before quickly chucking it at the back of his head.
>>Don’t bother asking while I have this scenario on file.
Kate didn’t even bother to wait and see if her teacher would dodge and just assumed he would as she looked around at the revealed reason for being here. Her breath caught in her throat as she took it all in.
There was the lake and the lights and the table. It wasn’t exact, but it was still as beautiful as she had dreamed. All that was missing was winter.
>>You wanted snow right? Computer change seasons to winter, however keep air and snow to 80 degrees. All the perks of the winter none of the layers needed.
Kate walked over to a freshly formed snow bank and leaned down slowly to touch it. She closed her eyes expecting the pain to come, but it never did. She felt the snow melt in her hand and opened her eyes with a wide smile. Now it was truly everything she had ever dreamed.
She rose and turned to face Sam once more, still smiling. She had wanted to thank him but couldn’t’ find the words that fit. Nothing she could have said was enough. So, she acted instead.
Kate ran and practically jumped off the floor to engulf the taller man in a hug.

It was a quick attack but even though a few hairs on the back of his head were singed he managed to get out of the way of the first attack, the second one… well Sam wasn’t exactly ready for the hug not that he was complaining it is just with the force behind her and the fact that Sam’s injuries prevented him from putting up much of a fight he fell back into a snow pile under the weight of Kate who was now hugging him.
Letting out a small grunt as he landed on the ground in a cushioned pile of snow Sam winced and placed a hand on the on Kate’s back and he smirked, ”I know the carrying you was a little over the type but you really need to tackle me to the ground?” Sam asked curiously knowing full well that she had tackled him because of the danger room’s background.
”Close to what you imagined?” Sam asked trying to push himself up under the weight for Kate and despite his injuries succeeding.
Kate rolled herself so she was sitting in the pile next to him, “I really don’t know what to say. I mean it’s not exact but it’s still beautiful.” Kate looked at Sam and sighed, “Thank you, but…” Kate was once again lost for words. She had to find a nice way of asking such a thing, “Why me? I mean I’m very grateful, but why do you take such an interest? Most of the teachers just made sure I wasn't going to jump out of my windows any second. What makes me so special that you would do something like this?"
Kate could only sit and wait for an answer. It had been something that had plagued her mind since soon after she arrived here.

”Thank you is plenty,” Sam said quickly before Kate continued to ask him why he was being so nice to her. Sam blinked slightly with his one eye and knew exactly why, her powers were similar to his own and if things had ended up differently he was sure he would have turned out similar to Kate. Not only that but there was another reason he was doing this for her the only reason he’d actually voice to her.
Sam tilted his head to the side to face Kate who didn’t know the reason, ”I’m not like most teachers am I?” Sam asked as he shrugged his shoulders and stood up slowly brushing some snow from his pants as he stood upright stretching his back. ”Sides I’d figure you’d need some cheering up, a lot of people think they are so different from one another but when it comes down too it, we just need someone to be there for us.” Sam paused slightly and smirked, ”Not me though, I’m different.”
Letting out a small laugh Sam reached down to help Kate up out of the snow and he added, ”Besides I made a promise to someone I’d keep an eye on you and make sure your happy.” It was a promise her mother made him repeat and though he wasn’t bound to the words as severely as Andrew a promise made by Sam wasn’t one he made lightly if he ever promised someone something he stuck to it.
”Now come on, I think it’s about time you learned how to ice skate, I might be bruised and banged up but I can still skate with the best of them.
>>Sides I’d figure you’d need some cheering up, a lot of people think they are so different from one another but when it comes down to it, we just need someone to be there for us. Not me though, I’m different.
Kate smiled at the terrible joke as she took Sam’s hand and stood also brushing the snow out of her dress.
>>Besides I made a promise to someone I’d keep an eye on you and make sure your happy.
Kate took Sam’s hand and started getting off of the ground when he said the thing that made her immediately stop what she was doing and looked at him with surprise all over her face. What was he talking about? What Promise? And was it really to who she was thinking it was now? For out of every person she knew the one person that would do such a thing was her mother.
Kate imagined that her mother made him repeat everything she had told him 4 or 5 times before she would even let him off the phone. She had always obsessed over making sure that Kate was safe and well taken care off. Somehow in all of her worries about not dying like her mother, she had forgotten that the woman had lived. And now just lived but lived for her. How could she be so stupid to forget such an important fact?
>>Now come on, I think it’s about time you learned how to ice skate, I might be bruised and banged up but I can still skate with the best of them.
Kate was pulled out of her thoughts by a friendly voice and an offered hand that she gladly took. Kate could feel a wave of blush come over her and her body temperature heat up but had no idea why either was happening.
