The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gemma Taylor was a professional. During her career, hundreds, maybe thousands of children came to her for help, and told her their life stories and problems, and asked for advice, and she always helped them in a professional way. Some of those children had a lot of baggage, awful events in their past; mutants, above all others, tended to have dark family history, a past filled with abuse, abandonment, being let down by friends and grown-ups alike. Gemma did her best to listen to them, and help them deal with their problems. Some of those problems were more than any person, especially any child would deserve, ever; some of those stories were truly terrifying. And then there was Aura. Two words.
"Holy sh*t." Gemma muttered under her breath as she looked at the girl. She still looked young, but not innocent. Not anymore. Not ever again.
"That is more than anyone should deal with." she said softly, watching her "I have met... a lot of children, mutants, who needed my help. I help them survive, you know. Learn, start a new life, deal with the past." she looked into her eyes; she was telling the truth "I can't even begin to imagine what you have been through." she told her. The words hung in the air. Gemma suggested there was more to the story. A lot more. She wouldn't just go agead and offer to help. That approach rarely ever worked. She'd just let her know she was there, and let her decide how much she wanted to share. For now.
Aura took the unintended bait to reveal some more and shook her head again, glancing back at her hand, then waived the womans offer away. "DOn't worry about me, my friend, i am fine, in fact, the woman who rescued me Miracle, lead a group. Miracle taught my path in life, trained me in the use of my powers in the woods. But even thare it was learn quick or die to the humans hail of bullets and mortar fire. " she said running a hand over her head, her hands trembled at the thoughts.
"But i was thare so long, the snow came twice thare i can recall, but......i made a mistake, a tactical error .....and because of me......everyone died.......we were sleeping when they hit....my first indication their was an issue was when the first mortar struck out barracks.....it tore her apart......all i ever found wa sher arm, clutching her sword, the building fell on me, and kept me alive and out of veiw but......i could only watch as everyone else fell, one by one" she said, her fist actually coming down on the table as her sorrow quickly turned to anger. She winced and glanced back to ehr hand right away, clearly unused to not useing her power. "I let another mutant, one under my command live, when he was to wounded to bring back......the human's took our location from him and let him go once we were all thought dead....... i buried what remains i could find ....." She said her voice shaking a bit as she told the story.
"my old freind's...when i thought i was dieing, they were who i knew were waiting for me......." she said then fully regained herself. "but the goddess just laughs and send's me back to atone for my sin, but that's all right" she said with a smile. "Still, i am sure you have far worse then me, i have a place to stay, i have job and i do whatever is need to protect my people" she said. "but...cna i ask, have you ever met anyone with several conflicting memories of the same event?" she asked suddenly curious. Maybe this woman knew how to cure that.

>>"Still, i am sure you have far worse then me, i have a place to stay, i have job and i do whatever is need to protect my people... but...cna i ask, have you ever met anyone with several conflicting memories of the same event?"
Mama T looked at Aura for a very long time, not saying anything. If the story she told was true... or part true... if any of it was true, then this girl had the worst past she'd ever heard of. Even among mutants. And even after long years of practice and experience, she had no clue what to do about it. She was saying... memories. Right.
"Yes." she nodded with a bit of hesitation "... yes, that can happen, very often. People, when they go through something... traumatic, their memories can get all jammed up. It takes time to set it all straight."
She paused again, looking at her.
"To tell the truth, I think very few peole got it worse than you, Aura. And there is also one thing I can tell you: from what you said, it seems to me, whoever was repsonsible for all that happened, it was not you." she moved over to her side to wrap an arm around her shoulders. She might regret the gesture later; it just seemed the right thing to do. "It was not your fault"
"really? i know my upbringing was not typical" she said being quite aware that her life style had caused her to miss a number of thing's most girls experience. She never had a date, never kissed anyone, nor had she ever touched make up or hair care products. These things she told herself were for those chosen to live cleaner paths then her own. the world currently needed both kinds of people, so that after the warriors did their work, society would go on, even if surrounded in ashes.
"but Maybe that is why, so much of my memory is dark and the rest before coming back here has inconsistencies. I can not recall my human name, my age or anything before my powers emerged. Still what trauma could have caused that?" she asked though she knew their could be no true answer. SHe did not think their was anything bad enough in her life to cause that. "It's fine i have a plan to recover those" she said.
Aura tensed and tried to pull back as the hand came around her shoulders. SHe closed her eyes for a moment, then breathed out. "Sorry...i am unused to people being able to touch me" she said before addressing what the woman said. "Thank you for saying so but it is my fault. After i buried my friends, i found my old friend, Sahr, he told me how they tortured the information out of him. As it turned out the same humans who killed the others wanted him to kill me, but i killed him in battle. If i had just killed him in the woods when i was suppose to, the others might well be alive today" she said sadly but confident in her answer.

>>"really? i know my upbringing was not typical"
"That's an understatement." Mama T muttered with a smile.
>>"I can not recall my human name, my age or anything before my powers emerged. Still what trauma could have caused that?"
Mama T blinked. Oh wow. She really had a way of dealing with her experiences. She somehow managed not to think they were terrible, or even unusual... and definitely not something that would comfuse one's memories. And the worst thing was, she was not sure she could argue with that. Maybe she was better off not being driven crazy by her memories.
>>"Sorry...i am unused to people being able to touch me"
Well, she expected that much. Still, Mama T kept her arm around Aura's shoulders while she told her about her friend, a friend she'd killed, and how and why she still thought it was her fault.
"That is not how it works" she said softly "You can't trade one life for another. Or any others, really. It's not currency, and it is not fair trade. And you can't blame yourself for something that happened because of the ignorance and stupidity of someone else."
"Perhaps your right, as i still do not fully understand how thing's work in the city. I simply know in the forest you either killed or were killed. The only teaching i know are from the day long sermons, miracle used to do. The first one lasted three days and we were not aloud to sit or sleep. We then rested for a few hours before training" she said still a bit uncomfortable with the womans arm where it was when she had no use of her powers. "Although by those standards, i would rank a monster" she said with a shrug.
Aura wiggled out of the other womans touch, not enjoying it much at all. "When i got back, and Miracle found out, i had let Sahr live and be captured, i was lucky she did not beat me to death. Thanks to her healing power she worked me over a few times that night, making sure i knew the weight of that mistake and that any deaths resulted from it, were upon my head. She then stripped me of my command, which hurt more then the beating. She taught me everything i know in her day long sermons" she said proudly. "so their is no need to spare my feelings and tell me it was not my fault" she said sounding slightly annoyed.
"But soon i will go back, to the woods. Miracle recorded most things that happened in camp and other things. Those records were locked and not found when the humans killed them, so they may contain what i need to put these foolish memories to rest" she explained further her annoyance fading to excitement. "all and all i am fine my friend" she said at last believing she really was all right and not a monster like the tv kept saying she was when she saw their broadcasts.

>>"Although by those standards, i would rank a monster"
Mama T sighed; the girl had a habit of speaking the truth, even if most people were uncomfortable with it, even if it put her at a disadvantage for any normal human relationship. She could imagine Aura would rank as a monster, a serial killer, a psychopath, and many other names; especially and mostly because she was also a powerful mutant. In Mama T's opinion, the one who deserved all those names was the woman called Miracle.
Aura wiggled out of her hug, and she let her; it was good she let her keep her arm around her shoulders this long. Human contact must have been weird for her.
>>"But soon i will go back, to the woods. Miracle recorded most things that happened in camp and other things. Those records were locked and not found when the humans killed them, so they may contain what i need to put these foolish memories to rest. all and all i am fine my friend"
So, there was once a woman who trained child soldiers out of mutant children. Ouch. Of course she was fine. Just not the right kind of fine.
"Are you going alone?" she asked. There was no use trying to tell her how it was not a good idea. She needed to get closure and all that stuff. First things first. "What happened to that woman? Miracle?" she asked, sitting back onto her cahir and looking at Aura "How did you end up in New York?"
"No i have a friend, whose sister the humans hold captive, we plan to break her free as well. So close to the wood though, i expect it will be quite the fight" she said positive this was true. Her eyes lit up at the idea of the fight however. "Our Kind have to many tragic pasts to count" she said walking just past the seven foot mark of Mama's powers only knowing she was free because her powers came back to her mind like a dog missing it's master.
"Miracle's death was sad, Solkat fought heavily in the end even after her lover was dead beside her. The Humans fell in number before her, unable to compete with the beauty of her control over plant life in a forest, but a sniper, took her out, right between the eyes. She fell back and both her and Miracle fell a few hundred feet to the ground below. I went down to find her body, and though i found her's solkat's was gone because of her power. I dug her grave myself, the first woman who ever cared for me" she said, even as her Pink Aura covered her body in a secound.
Sititng Down on her bed she went on. "I took what money i could find on the corpses and recalling that i lived in the city before, i asked directions and started walking in that direction, stopping only when i had to. It took quite some time but i had no idea what else to do, it was uneventful which let me dwell on the past. I had to hide on a boat to get across the border" she said even as she formed a drill on her right hand, which then reformed itself into an ice cream scoop before fading to a soft glow with the rest of her aura.
Then a young girl came into the room looking nervous when her looked at Aura, it was clear she recognized her. "Aura, the head master, Samual wishes to see you" she said and departed rather quickly after that.
"Seems i have stayed to long" she said letting her Aura fade completely. "Wish she ahd stayed long enough to guide me thare" she said, then looked at Mama T. "You have any idea?" she asked, stretching her back and standing.

>>"Seems i have stayed to long. Wish she ahd stayed long enough to guide me thare. You have any idea?"
Mama T listened to Aura's story in silence; it as an equally depressing conclusion to a horrible tale. She wondered how much of it was true, and how much of it was just part of her confused memories. Still, even fake memories like that were terrible in itself. Gemma shuddered as she listened to the girl.
She was going back to the woods to fight. Gemma shuddered again.
Also, Sam wanted to see them. Well. Now Gemma wondered if Sam knew who (or what) Aura was. She was not afraid for getting into trouble for brining her in (for hitting her, maybe), she was just afraid Sam wouldn't treat her carefully enough.
"I'll go with you." seh nodded and stood up too "I need to talk to Sam anyway. Let's go, Aura." she said with a smile. As long as the girl was close to her, there was no way there would be trouble. She wouldn't allow that.
