The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura had been having a bad day and had a feeling thing's were going to get worse before they got better. She was sick, a cold she thought, no reason to go to a doctor, but still quite annoying. The bad part was every time she coughed her Aura shimmered for a brief second. Aura had gone a week and had only killed one person on accident, which was impressive to her but frustrating as well. Hunting and killing are what kept her mind free and clear and kept the false memories at bay. Aura Loved that feeling danger brought.
Aura was walking through the alleys as normal to keep out of sight. Had Aura any taste in clothing she might have realized the long white hooded robe, attracted attention all on it's own. Still it kept her face hidden and that's what she needed. It was late enough whare the sun had started to rise, hiding the moon. The traffic was increasing she could see as well, as she was forced to exit onto a sidewalk whare more then one person bumped into her, but she kept her anger in check. By the time she crossed the street she knew she was drawing attention, but she knew revealing her face would reveal to much to any person who watched TV.
Aura coughed, feeling her Aura flare up around her covered arm for just a second. Looking down, she smiled at the photograph, which she now carried almost every ware, one of the last things she had of her original job. The woman who had taught her how to fight, taught her the true nature of the humans was quite dead, Aura had entombed the body herself. The order seemed almost calm in nature to her up to recently. Now that she had something to do most day's she was quite happy, still she had to question how she survived when so many much stronger mutants died that day. So many more who could have done her job better.
So Littile attention was Aura paying, that only the thunderous sound's of horn's all around her snapped her back to reality. Aura moved out of the way of a car spewing obscenities and stopped just in time as a long truck passed her by, almost pushing her back again. Aura shot just in front of a car, trying to reach the other side of the road. Just before she could cross the last lane a large truck passed in front of her. Aura turned to see a car which she had hoped too avoid within moments of striking her. Aura's aura shot up around her and right away formed a drill around her fist. She had never tried to take a car head on, before.
Aura punched forward, at first it seemed to have worked, Aura felt what seemed like minutes of painless slow motion, before the car's momentum carried it into her body throwing her body onto the hood. Auras shoulder flared up in horrible pain as it came out of the hole she had punched, at last stopping as she hit the windshield, but just before she did, Aura felt her Aura abandoning her, she was able to keep just enough in place, to avoid shattering the glass. Aura tilted her head to the side, and promptly threw up. Raising a shaky hand in front of her Aura, tried to form her Aura, but got only a few flickers of pink. Summoning enough force to raise her good hand she formed a thin Aura axe and brought it down on her own neck, but the Aura was to weak to eb solid and her hand dropped to her side. "Crap...." she moaned

Mothers don't hit little girls with cars. They. Just. Don't.
There was a moment of blackout there; when the lights came back on, Mama was still holding the wheel with both hands, trying to take a breath, and there were breaks screeching and voices shouting around the car. Also, her view was blosked by a person on the windshield.
"Crap." she muttered, and forced herself to let go of the wheel and kill the engine, before she unfastened her seatbelt and tumbled out of the car.
Was that a flicker of pink something around the girl? She might have seen that earlier too, right when she got hit.
"Oh, crap."
She could see more than one people already calling 911 as she leaned over the girl on the hood.
"Don't move, sweetheart, you're gonna be okay" she said, trying to see how bad the damage was "Help's on the way. Just don't move, you're gonna be fine."
I can't believe I hit a kid. She just came out of nowhere. Also. What the hell did she do to my car?!
Aura's body screamed in pain from so many point's she could not single them all out. Despite the woman's word's Aura tried to move her shoulder and winced in pain, biting her lip hard as to to cry out. It had been so long since she felt this kind of pain, it was nostalgic. Her greater concern however was that her powers felt so distant trying to move her shoulder again brought up a good reason on why, her body was trashed and she ahd taken quite the impact from the human's car. Forcing her head to the side she winced in pain. "Must.....get.....back" she said ebtween breaths, only noe fully realizeing a person in front of her.
"Can't....let ....filthy....humans touch.. me" she said more to herself as she began trying to move, but she could not help but cry out this time. Raising her good arm she tried to force her power to her arm, but it did not so much as respond. "my powers....abandon me? can't .....even die" she said with a moan, her arm dropping heavy to her side.
"could not move....if i wanted....to......" she began to say before she threw up again, over the hood of the car. "must.....run" she said to the lady, hoping the woman would somehow get her rather vague message and get them both out of the area. Some ware in her head Aura was well aware of the impossibility of the situation. Still coherent thought was starting to get tougher and for the first time she focused on the woman before her.
"kill....me" she said a shudder passing through her body. Aura twitched as the sound of sirens in the distance started. "Please....." she said hoping the woman would just strike her down their. The Police would simply kill her. She had lost and not only that she was to weak to even defend herself, the police would torture her until they got the information they needed then discard her, better to die her in combat, even as loose as this filled that idea.
"i should.....thank you.....now i .....i...can join them....up in....stars" she said her stomach making her feel like she was going to through up again. Aura smiled at the woman or at least she hoped it was a smile, even if she was human or mutant either way Aura felt she was staring at the woman who had beaten her. Aura decided just to lay still and let herself die, then she could see her freind's, she had fulfilled her role, a soilder. SHe had fought so much, maybe death would be a peaceful thing.
Gemma stared in shock at the broken girl on front of her; she was clearly in shock too, speaking, but saying things that didn't make much sense.... All right, some parts did.
"It's okay, sweetheart" she said, putting a hand lightly on her shoulder to keep her from moving "You are not going to die. I'm gonna take care of you, okay? See to it that you are healed." she smiled a very shaky smile at her "I am not human. You are safe."
She was not a mutant either, but that didn't really make any difference.
>>"could not move....if i wanted....to...... must.....run... kill....me... Please....."
"Hell no!" she frowned, shaking her head. She was dead sure about that one "I ain't gonna kill you, you're gonna live."
>>"i should.....thank you.....now i .....i...can join them....up in....stars"
Oh yes. She was in shock.
"All right, girl, listen up." she said in a stern voice "My name is Gemma, and I am going to take care of you, okay? Stay with me. You're not gonna die. I promise. And stop trying to hurt yourself. Your powers won't work while you are near me. That's my ability. I am a friend, okay? Stay calm, baby. You're gonna get better. Mama's here."
Now she had her work cut out for her. The ambulance arrived, and the police too; people started to gather around them. Mama T made sure to stay close to the girl; she was not sure what her powers were, but she was better off not trying to use them. Good thing she couldn't fight in the condition she was in. There was something fierce in her eyes, even when she was in so much pain. The paramedics sedated her, and moved her into the ambulance car. Mama T. followed. She didn't really care about her car right now. She did care about finding her cellphone.
Rule No. 1 when moving into a new school: Know where the doctor is. And know his number.
From now on, things were trying to get a little fuzzy, but Mama T. promptly put them in their place; there was no time to panic, not yet anyway. First, she had to yell and argue till she convinced the paramedics the girl needed special attention. Then, she had to navigate them back to the Mansion. Then, she needed to get them past the security, and to the infirmary, and then she needed to get them out of there and reassure them that everything was under control from there. Then, she had to stand 8 feet away from the bed while DocProf worked his magic on the girl, and grumbled about teenagers nowadays and crazy woman drivers and whatnot.
Then, she had to sit next to her bed, waiting for her to wake up.
Aura remembered something on her skin then feeling tired. She knew what they were right away, they had been used in the forest. She recalled a lot of yelling as well but had fallen asleep before she could make out what any of the phrases meant. The name Lenna echoed in her dreams, she kept seeing the woman, even with the limited time they had known each other and worked together For the first time, in months Aura had a dream where no one died other then her.
Aura came to, though she did not open her eyes but something was terribly wrong, her powers were so far our of reach, and no matter how hard she called, they did not respond. She fought back the fear of vulnerability and the embarrassment of feeling naked. She recalled suddenly believing she was dieing and something metal. A car maybe, Aura thought to herself realizing what had happened. SHe had failed to stop the car and prolbely barely survived. The After life had rescinded their call for her, maybe that meant something.
Aura suddenly shot up her hand coming up in front of her chest, but the action looked much threatening without her aura. Aura's eyes scanned the room like a predator that felt trapped. Her eyes finally looked at the woman sitting next to her. She did not recall her at all though something in Aura told her she owed this person somting, though for what she had no idea. She tried her power again, screaming mentally for it to come to her will, but their was not even a whisper of it.
Aura stared at her hand in horror as her power did not respond. This was worse then she thought, before with Lenna she had some use of her powers, the first time they had been dampened. This however was worse, total abandonment. "You" she said accusingly as she let her hand go to her side, recalling the woman a bit better now, she kept her powers from her.. "Where is this?" she said looking uncomfortable despite her fierce sounding voice.

Mama watched as the girl sowly regained consciousness and looked around. She looked scared and confused, and the drugs the paramedics gave her were slowly wearing off. Mama could image she would be confused, and she couldn't tell how much the girl remembered.
>>"You. Where is this?"
"Sssh" she said in a soothing voice, and sat on the edge of her bed "It's okay, you are safe. You were hit by a car, but you are healed now." she watched her raise her hand and look at it. Right. The girl was a mutant, who apparently used her powers a lot. Or, at least, missed them a lot when they were not there.
"Don't strain yourself, sweetheart. Your powers are fine, they just don't work when I'm near. And you need to rest." she knew better than to try to touch the girl. She looked like some trapped animal, and Mama wasn't in the habit of touching anyone without permission anyway.
"You are in a safe place. This is a school for mutants." she told her in a calm voice "My name is Gemma, but the kids call me Mama T. What's your name?"
"right, i tried to stop the car with my drill" she said more to herself then Gemma. Aura was confused, she knew their were parts of the crash she did not recall. Aura's mind began trying to reason through what happoned. She was still unsure wh Lenna's name was in her head though. Her hand went right away to her shoulder, her shoulder not only no longer hurt but that the pain through out her body was gone. She had a strange feeling about this woman, she despised her power to make her own seem so far away and yet, she was healed and from what she could recall this woman had saved her from the Human's, kept their filthy hand's from her skin.
"I am tired, but it might be best for me to head home" She said, her body no longer hurt but the woman was right as well she did need rest. Still Aura only knew one mutant school and they tried to defend the Human's which meant they might turn her in, her list of crimes was quite vast after all. She could focre herself she believed at least to a safe house. She then groaned when she recalled the human hunters who had come after her recently. Staying here could put others in danger, after all, still she knew. Aura's trained mind looked over the window and exit's to the medicle room, she might need to try and run.
"I am Aura" She said simply having calmed down quite a bit, now that she realized she was at least in a place full of Mutants. "You brought me here, i must thank you for that. Had the Humans..." she said a visible shiver of disgust going through her upon the word Human. Then Letting the remark go she looked up at the ceiling. "I live at Sanctuary" she said, openly, most people knew she lived thare, and if they did not it was not a hard secret to find out.
Being here at the school was ironic, after all several of her fight's had landed people time in this very room. Did the goddess hate her so much as to not allow her the simple pleasure of rejoining her friends? Or maybe her work was just that important. Either way she had to believe the Nature Goddess knew the correct path for her. She had to be loyal, that was what mattered the most, and though she was alive it mean she could do more good for her people.

>>"I am tired, but it might be best for me to head home"
Well, at least she had a home. She still looked confused, and not less broken, although Mama T was not sure if it was from the accident. She was a child, that was easy to see. Probably more of a child than she'd admit. Most mutant kids were.
>>"I am Aura. You brought me here, i must thank you for that. Had the Humans..."
Oh. A mutant name, and the visible disgust when she mentioned humans. Mama T. didn't approve of mutant fanatics one bit, and did everything she could so no kid she'd ever dealt with end up as some mutant terrorist. It was not the way things worked, and it didn't usually work out for them either. She was also a very patient woman.
"Is that your mutant name?" she asked with a small smile. 'Mutant names' were very popular among mutant kids. They made them feel like superheroes. As if they needed the names.
>>"I live at Sanctuary"
Mama T. made a menta note to do some research about that sanctuary later on. Maybe it was a place that needed her help too.
"As I said, Aura, you are safe here, and you need to rest." she said gently, but in a voice that mothers use when they mean business "I can't let you walk around just yet, your injuries were pretty bad. The good news is" she smiled "I can stay here with you if you want me to. Taking care of kids is my job anyway, and I think I owe you that much, since I was in the car that hit you. So." she stood up from Aura's bed and sat down on the shair once again "Are you hungry?"
"i suppose you could call it that...." she began thinking to herself about somthing. "It's the only name i can recall, i would imagine my parents gave me another, but if they did, i can not recall it. They abandoned me after my powers first emerged and my memories before that are....empty" she said clearly going from surprised to be asked if it was a mutant name to desturbed at the mention that much of her past was blank. It had always botherd her much as her memories of an event she could recall a dozen ways.
"Im use to being wounded" she said waiving the womans obvious concearn for her. Then she heard the woman, hit her and smiled herself, then started laughing. Once she reagained herself, her smile did not fade, in fact her eyes seemed facinated with the news. "I passe dout, which menat that impact was pretty bad.......just a littile faster and i may have returned" she said talking about her own death in the same light tone. "I suppose the gods are not yet ready" she said with a sigh.
"As for this place.......The angels live here, those with clean hands. I have no right to be in such a place. Still.....i am hungry, i had a racoon and some type of small bird yesterday but.....i recall not keeping that down after the accident, though......yes food would be good" she decided hoping to either be left alone or to be lead from the area, whare she might be able to find a better place to run. She would need some distence between this woman and herself. As much as she felt the people at the mansion were fools, she alos bleived they might one day be needed, after all the world needed those less tainted then herself.
She looked at her skin again. "It's like being naked" she said shaking her head. She had used her powers heavily on a dayly basis for over four years. To be suddenly robbed of them was off and desturbing. "My first Matriarch named me Aura, it decribes me well" she said with a heavy sigh.

Okay. Now. Seriously. All the things she said were wrong on so many levels Mama couldn't even begin to count. Hitting a girl was an unfortunate accident. Hitting a mutant girl was a curious coincidence. Hitting a mutant girl with so many issues - that was destiny.
Also. A raccoon?! For heaven's sake...
"All right, Aura" she sighed, smiling at the girl "I know my ability canceling yours must feel weird and unusual, but I promise you, you're safe here."
She stood up "So, here is what's going to happen: I am going to bring you clean clothes, and real food, and anything else you need. And in return, I'd appreciate it if you were still here when I return."
She was officially healed, but that didn't mean she was in any shape to walk around, or run for it.
"I can't really keep you here by force" she said before she left "so I'll only ask. It's your choice."
"I feels as though i am missing an arm without my power. I train it every day" she said wth a sence of pride in her voice. It was true, not once in four years had she not used her powers at almost everything she could. She beleived heir powers were their sacred right and that mutants should never have to hide themselfs.
"I have considerd running, but mybe it would be best to rest a bit soon. Either way i suppose the danger is the same" she said rememebering the attackers she had on several of her bases. She let out a soft sigh. "Still need to keep this minamel though, time wise" she said thinking to herself aloud. "I got work" she said simply which was quite true. She useually helped the order launder contracts several mornings a week.
She said nothing as the woman left, once out of her range however, Aura smiled as her pink aura rushed from hands to coat her body. SLideing off the bed she realized she might be more tired then she thought. She could tell she was tired though, controlling it was rougher then it should have been. Still she was able to form an ice cream scoop and then formed it into a drill and finnaly a hammer. Happy she let the object fade back into her Aura and let i thin out untill it just surrounded her finger, which she blew on and it to was gone.
SOmthing about this woman made her curious as well. She had kept her from the human's and even though Aura beleived this woman had no idea who she was, that alone was curious. Still frosty would wnat to drag her before the police she was sure, and she knew he was from here, but so was fade. Either way she hoped to keep her stay as littile as she could. She needed to flee after a few hours rest she reasoned to herself.

>>"I feels as though i am missing an arm without my power. I train it every day. I have considerd running, but mybe it would be best to rest a bit soon. Either way i suppose the danger is the same"
Mama T nodded, and closed the door behind herself. She didn't lock Aura in. There was no point. She would escape if she wanted to, and in her experience, trust was most often the only thing needed to break the ice.
About twenty minutes later she returned with a pile of clean clothes, and set them on the cahir beside the bed.
"Food's almost ready." she told Aura with a smile "I needed to warm it up. Get dressed, I'll bring lunch in here so you can eat."
Aura needed to rest, and stay in bed. And stay in the Infirmary. For more reasons than one. Mama T was a kind person and a mother figure, but she was not naive. Aura was a curious girl, and she either wasn't all there, or there were major faults in her upbringing. She was better off not meeting students and faculty just yet. Until Mama knew more about her, that is.
While Aura got dressed, Mama T went back to the kitchen, and brough food. Lots of it.
"Dig in" she smirked "You need to eat real food to regain your strength."
Aura felt The lady return before she knew it, as she came close, her powers stopped replyying to her and faded away as if erased from reality. SHe took the clothing however and quickly put it on, it was a size bigger but she cared littie about that. Clothing was clothing for the most part and matterd very littile. She wonderd how solkat was doing, the skunk had been missing as of late, though Aura was sure she had seen them recently.
She had brought quite a bit of food and Aura was grateful. Her diet was less commom from her experince then she would have thought. These day's she could eaasily have a better diet, but often hunted to cook and keep herself prepared to eat anything that would not kill her. If she kept herself well trained and able to hunt she could continue her crusade untill she was dead. Still these were the kind of food that most people she knew would eat. People ttended to wince when aura explained she had devoured various animals most others might not.
She began to eat it was not bad. However as she ate she dwelled more on the old foods, how they smelled, had tasted. She dropped te fork she was useing as her expression took a glazed look for a few moments untill she shook it off and picked the fork back up. She had largely killed her habit of killing and as such keeping the strange memories at bay was harder. Suddenly she looked up at the woman and tilted her head to the side. "back in the wood's we ate whatever we could catch that day, so we learned to not be picky" she explained calmly as she kept eating.

Gemma watched the girl eat. She was clearly hungry, and by the looks of her, she needed more than one decent meal to gain some weight on those bones. She might have been well trained and athletic and all the things she could tell with her coaching experience; but in Mama T's book, she was just scrawny.
>>"back in the wood's we ate whatever we could catch that day, so we learned to not be picky"
Oh. Another piece to the puzzle. Goes on the list.
"Well, the fact that junk doesn't kill you doesn't mean you gotta eat it all the time." she smirked at the girl "And I'd say most wild animals qualify as fast food. You lived in the woods for long?"
She missed the joke but nodded when asked had she lived in the woods long. "yes, a few years, i believe it was two" she said even as she ate. She debated how much to say to this woman, when she knew the truth would she to feed her to the humans? She had no idea but had to assume no, as this was a mutant. "In canada actually" she said knowing the country but not quite specifically thare. "Life was sometimes hard there but those who gave up always lost" she said.
Then Aura reasoned with herself that this woman was in fact a mutant, she just stopped others powers, just like lenna though lenn'as just weakened them. "when my powers first emerged i was in a fight with another girl, during the battle i got angry as i was losing the fight. My power emerged forming a sword out of my aura, what had meant to be a kidny punch, instead cut her spinal colum in half. She was dead before i even understood what happoned, then the humans came and my parents gave me to them and walked away. I was thare only a few months but i still recall that smell and the kids who they took away always screamed. But after a long time we were saved and brought to the forest" she said casually. She had no idea how long she had been in the cage. Day's were rarely mentioned and after awhile only feeding times mattered much and the person in the cage next to you.
"Still few could be saved, the guard's of the cage's had automatic weapon and we were just lost kid's just beginning to understand our selfs. In the cages i had several friend's but only three made it to our liberation and two of those died in the escape. Guard dog killed one and an explosive killed the other. Still upon liberation we were given names whare in the cages we had always been referred to by numbers." she went on shaking her head slightly, a hint of sadness in her naturally fierce eyes.
