The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Raven didn't normally like to be out quite so late at night but sometimes these things happened. Of course, there had been times in her life when she had lived on the streets and going inside during the night time hours simply wasn't an option. Humans, she'd discovered, didn't take kindly to strangers entering their houses. Actually, in that way they were much like ravens who also didn't appreciate their nests being invaded by other birds. Unfortunately, and this was a depressing fact to admit, right at the moment she was a little bit lost. Or a lot lost.
Raven didn't often have to worry about actually getting lost. She had a fairly good sense of direction and, more importantly, had Blackwing's eyes in the sky to help her navigate the city. Unfortunately, however, ravens didn't exactly have much in the way of night vision and, come nightfall, Blackwing refused to fly. He had found himself a nice little perch about a mile away and no amount of coaxing from Raven was going to move him from that perch until daylight. Therefore, if she wanted to go home to the Mansion, it was up to her to find her way home.
Raven's own sense of sight wasn't nearly as good at night either, but at least her eyes were partly human and she was able to make due. She rode her bicycle in what she assumed was the direction of the Mansion but unfortunately she wasn't at all certain. The area of the city she was in got steadily darker and more run down until she was almost certain she had taken a wrong turn somewhere. Well, as much as she would prefer to nice warm indoor bed, it was still summer and the nights were still relatively warm so she figured it wouldn't be so bad to sleep outside. It wasn't the first time she had had to do so and it probably wouldn't be the last either. All she had to do now was find herself a comfortable corner where she wouldn't be disturbed.
Aura knew better then do start a fight in the middle of a late night bar, in a run down part of the city. Sure she killed on a daily basis, mostly hobo's and gang members which cops rarely seemed to care about and even when they did Aura had quickly realized the other hobo's and gang members rarely wanted to be questioned. She did not even have a good reason for it this time, normally she fought nightly to keep up her skills in a fight or ridding the world of human's. This was simply a basic brawl she started in a bar she was sure she was not suppose to be in anyway.
She had chosen to refrain from killing in the ordeal, though it was hard at times. Her urge to kill was thare, many of them were just filthy human's after all. Still Lori had advised her against killing, and so she would do her best not to, which in the past few days had lead to some interesting methods of keeping people quite while she extracted a bone. Some of the then, as big as they were, had little real skill in a fight and were even worse drunk, it had only taken a few stray punches to turn the attention away from her and into a free for all. Aura had managed to slip out of the bar well before the cops arrived, to the rather routine call to the bar. The trouble the bar had an Aura's opinion was that half of it's clients tended to be mutants, drunk mutants could be rather bad and Aura assumed that's why cops took their time in responding, they did not want to deal with the complications for a simple bar fight.
Making her way through the alleyways she eventually was forced to exit out onto a sidewalk, she had to admit the area was less then completely familiar to her, which was sort of rare. Taking a moment she looked up at the sky, and cursed to herself again, the city's ambient light made seeing most stars tough. Aura itched her wrists as she pondered a direction to go. She had decided to go out of her normal range this night and now she was pretty lost, but Aura simply folded her arm's and decided to wait for daylight, when she saw someone on a bicycle heading toward her the other way, out of instinct and surprise, her Aura surrounded her quickly with little of the usual elegance she enjoyed with it. She had no idea how to ride a bike herself, she never had a reason to learn still she could not tell who the person might be.

Raven didn't much like having to find a place to rest at night. She felt handicapped because she wasn't able to see very well in the darkness, her normally exceptional vision no better than that of a human's, maybe even a little bit worse. On a clear day she could see for miles, pinpointing interesting trinkets from much farther than any mere human would be able to. But at night she was limited to seeing only her immediate surroundings and forced to rely much more heavily on her sense of hearing. At least that didn't worsen when the sun went down, otherwise she wasn't certain what she'd do. Probably just curl up in a corner, helpless, until the sun rose again. Which was just one more reason why she tried very hard to be safely inside and in bed long before sunset. As soon as she saw those first tell tale orange and red beams of light, that was her sign to seek her haven, wherever it might be at the time. Except tonight, because she had been stupid tonight, something unforgivable.
It wasn't entirely her fault that Blackwing had spotted the most appealing crystal he had ever seen. It was large and multifaceted, refracting the light into sparkles and rainbows when it struck. Raven tried to explain to her familiar that it was on a necklace around her neck and there was no way for Raven to get it, but the bird, stubborn as per usual, just didn't give up. He promised, in a way that only a raven could promise, that this was the greatest wish of his entire life and he would never ask for anything ever again. Of course she didn't believe him for a moment, but that was besides the point. Normally she didn't actually steal from anyone, not unless they carelessly left their possessions unattended but, bit by bit, Blackwing convinced her that if there was ever a time to make an exception to that rule, this was it. After all, if they couldn't protect what they had gathered they didn't deserve to keep it. The logic was impeccable and that was all she needed.
So much following had commenced until, finally, the moment was right. The woman had wandered into an alley, much like the one Raven was presently standing in, in fact, and was all alone. The great raven flew out of the sky and with pinpoint accuracy managed to break the chain of the necklace causing it and the shiny rock to tumble to the ground. In the confusion Raven herself made her move, running behind the woman and grabbing her prize. Running had followed after that and yelling though all of the yelling came from their unfortunate victim. Finally having lost her pursuer, she stopped and Blackwing flew away to find his perch. By then it was too late to return home.
Raven was distracted from her stress filled thoughts by a very distinct sound, that being the sound of a gun being cocked and prepped for firing. She froze then ducked, very slowly turning her head to see the very woman she had robbed standing at the front of the alley, gun pointed directly at her. Knowing she had no defense at all against loaded firearms (and very much not liking to be shot at), she began cawing frantically, trying to attract any crows that were awake later than they should be too her. All she needed was a distraction, enough for her to flee for her life and, alas, Blackwing wasn't close enough to help.
Aura turned and saw a rather large crow at strange hour in the day and decided to investigate. Still she falling behind, Aura had to try and keep hidden and she soon lost sight of the crow. Aura for a moment considered what to do and since she had no way to further track the rather strange occurrence, she considered simply heading back home and maybe getting some sleep. It was about time for her to head back anyway she thought to herself.
Strange people had been attacking lately, and they were more organized then the normal stupid human's who normally tried to fight her. Maybe lori had been right about not being so open about her killings and hiding them a bit more then she ahd been. Normally she just left the body whare it fell unless she wanted a bone then she cut the body open and removed the bone as she lacked the strength to drag most of the bodies the distence that would be useful.
Aura heard the strange cawing, more because she had started in that direction anyway. She spotted the issue right away though weather or not to act crossed her mind. The girl was cawing like a bird though and that was strange even to Aura, and strange usually meant, mutant. Aura, was still semi-hidden and considered her attack options at once. Lori wanted her to avoid killing, so that meant a blunt object would work better in her mind.
Aura decided upon a hammer, her blunt object of choice and with a quick rush she cleared the distance between the woman and herself and came down against the back of her head with the hammer. Aura knew coming down from above like she was against the crown of the head would likely knock the woman out. She Landed a few inches past the woman putting her own body inbetween Raven and the woman not even looking back to see if her blow had the desired result. "You all right? you are a mutant right?" she said hoping she ahd not just saved some human. No number of showers could ever take the filth of that away.

As time ticked by ever so slowly, Raven was actually beginning to panic at the lack of any crows or ravens coming to her aid. Blackwing, knowing his mistress was in trouble was on his way, but his distance combined with lack of sight made is approach far too slow to be of any help. She hated to feeling of being helpless, hated it with a passion. It was something she wasn't very familiar with and something she didn't want to repeat. There weren't even any places where she might be able to hide from the evil sinister gun and the lady wielding it.
"You can have your trinket back," Raven suggested, pulling the sparkly necklace out of her backpack and holding it up to the lady. Which was, apparently, exactly the wrong thing to do as she looked, if it were possible, even more angry than she had a moment ago. Apparently she was not going to bribe her way out of this and her anxiety mounted even further. The only thing she could hope for now as that the woman was a lousy shot and she prepared herself for superhuman dodging. Which, alas, she did not having superhuman dodging capability, at least not that she was aware of.
Raven was preparing herself for the worst and the woman was taking careful aim with her gun, when out of nowhere she crumpled to the ground. Raven blinked in confusion, her life having virtually flashed before her eyes as she prepared for the worst and suddenly the threat was gone, just like that. It wasn't Blackwing because he was still more than a mile away. Blinking in confusion, she suddenly realized that there was a woman before her, glowing pink and wielding a very strange giant pink hammer.
"You all right? you are a mutant right?"
For a moment all Raven could do was nod silently, not at all used to being at a loss for words. It didn't take her long to recover them. "Yes I'm a mutant." She was more raven than mutant, but mutant seemed to be what humans understood more. "I think you saved my life. Thank you." She offered the woman, who she felt an undeniable connection too after her having saved her life, the necklace complete with the giant shiny stone in it to the glowing pink woman. Even Blackwing didn't protest, feeling just as much gratitude towards the woman for saving his mistress as Raven felt towards her.
"Possible" she said as she looked down at the gun, the woman had been holding. She was pretty sure this woman was human, and temptation was their to simply shoot her, unload the entire clip into the back of her head. With a deep breath she resisted her instinct to kill the woman both because she could not be sure the woman was a mutant and because of her standing order. She only then realized she had zoned out for a few moments and after mentally scolding herself noticed the mutant she had just saved was holding a shiny rock, something people seemed to value.
"That's not necessary my friend, i was only doing what was right" she said having no idea Raven had actually stolen the item, not that it really mattered to her anyway. "The fact that you are unharmed is reward enough for me, besides i have more then enough of such things" she said with a smile. She still had no idea what such things were truly worth. She considered the mutant before her knowing right away she had never seen this one before.
The woman was quite lovely, to Aura's eye and not simply because she was a mutant. "This is not the best part of town you know" she said to the girl after stepping on the body she just knocked out. "TO much scum" she said shaking her head. "My Name is Aura" she said leaning down on the knocked out woman, and proceeding to go pour her purse out onto the ground, until a wallet fell out. Aura ignored the money and took out the womans ID, with a smile she rose again, her trophy in hand.
"what's your name?" she said softly, looking around to make sure the woman who she believed robbed raven, was alone. She had to wonder just what brought a girl as seemly unused to combat as raven out at this hour and to a place like this.
