The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character's full name: Nathan Chambers Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: Not Applicable (yet) Gender: Male Age: 17 Date of Birth: 09/02/1994 Nationality/ Ethnicity: British Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: London, England
Appearance
Hair color and style: Floppy ash blonde. Eyes: Blue Height: 6'00 Build: Svelte. Nathan is naturally fairly well built. He plays some sport and takes regular exercise, so he keeps in shape but isn’t fanatical about his body Visible mutation: None/metallic body when shifted Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Nope. Other features: Nathan is attractive. Enough to turn heads in the street and make guys hold their girlfriends a little closer. That’s until he smiles. Then he’s GORGEOUS.
Everyday clothing style: : Nathan wears pretty nice clothing all things considered. He has several gay friends who insist on dressing him properly, so he is pretty knowledgeable about fashion. Uniform: He's not affiliated with any faction right now so he has no uniform. Sleepwear: He sleeps in his boxers. Miscellaneous clothing: He owns a poncho which he thinks is cool, but his friends refuse to let him wear. And a vast assortment of hats.
Character
Personality: Nathan is a pretty nice guy. He gets up each morning to do his paper round with few complaints, goes to school, and actually does his work. He doesn’t know how much of a pretty boy he is. Shy around strangers, but very popular; his parents, teachers and extended family describe him as a “charming young man”. He doesn’t hold grudges and has never been in a fight. Hobbies/ Interests: Nathan’s on the football (soccer) team and always gets a good role in the school plays. He enjoys acting and is a member of several amateur dramatics societies outside of school. He’s also the lead singer in a pretty bad punk-rock band. Job or part time job and description: Nathan has an early morning paper route and his parents’ support as his sole sources of income. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Nathan doesn’t like disappointing people, but it’s not like a serious phobia or anything. He just tries his hardest at whatever he does. He was brought up with a good work ethic instilled into him, and is dissatisfied with anything but his best. Something of a perfectionist. Special talents: I guess he has none, but in terms of general qualities…..
He’s not a bad striker (plays forwards on the football pitch; the guy that scores the goals). He’s a much better actor than he realises, and has the potential for professional quality, if he pursues that interest. He’s got a nice singing voice, but nothing special. He's also a really good dancer, and knows that, always keen to show it off. He’s intelligent and diligent, applying himself fully to anything he does.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good. He hates bullies, cowards and cheats. He doesn’t go out of his way to find them or anything, but would absolutely step in to stop someone being hurt. He won’t lie cheat or steal and abhors those traits in others. He’s not sanctimonious, however.
Mutations
Metallic Avatar
Mutation description: Nathan manifests the properties of any solid metal he can touch. His body changes to become entirely composed of a living form of the metal. His squishy skin, bones and internal organs are replaced entirely by a solid mass of living, moving metal. The metal object that triggers the transformation is not absorbed into him, and he does not need to remain in contact with it. His metallic form grants him immense strength and makes him nigh invulnerable. The actual metal he manifests determines his appearance as well as any specific properties the metal has (Copper being particularly conductive, Neodymium being slightly magnetic, for e.g.) though he has no control over these properties, and cannot change them in any way. Strengths:
Super Strength: Becoming an Avatar of any metal endows Nathan with enormous physical might.
Nigh Invulnerable: With a body of living metal Nathan becomes incredibly difficult to take down, becoming impervious to much that would slay his human form. Bullets ricochet off and cars crumple against him. He is not unkillable (see weaknesses), just very, very tough.
No life functions: As an avatar, Nathan’s entire body changes to living metal. His body loses all organic components, including (but not limited to) his brain, heart, lungs, bones and central nervous system. When in this metallic form, Nathan does not need food, sleep, oxygen, or anything else his human body requires. Nor does he feel pain or fatigue. He cannot therefore drown, suffocate, starve, or dehydrate whilst in his metallic form.
Merging: When Nathan becomes an Avatar, he can merge with metals of the same type, but no others. As an Avatar of Gold, for e.g. he could merge with Gold, but not, say, steel, or Tungsten. Nathan combines the molecules of his own form with those of the object he wants to merge with. This enables him to force his way through an object without physically harming it (as the molecules that comprise him flow through the metal), and to conceal himself within any metal substance whose mass exceeds his own. When he is merging himself with an object, that object’s density doubles where he is currently, because both its original molecules and the ones in his organic metal body are occupying the same space. He can theoretically add the merged metal to his own body. Currently he can use this power to repair scratches and dings his metal form might have incurred (aesthetics, basically) or if he has lost any significant portion of his form, he can reform that if he can get hold of sufficient mass in metal of that type to make up the deficit. He cannot add to his metallic form (yet), and his total mass is the greatest it can currently be. (when his mutated power and mutated control rise, he might be able to do some more with this…)
Weaknesses:
Lack of control: As soon as any metal touches Nathan’s bare skin, he immediately becomes an avatar of it, manifesting its properties. He has no choice in the matter. At all. This makes general life difficult since he’s got to be incredibly careful in public else he’ll reveal himself to the mutant-fearing populace at large. He is also unable to change back to human form so long as his skin is in contact with a metal that he is capable of changing into.
Range: Nathan can only manifest a metal he can physically touch. Even if only inches away, he will be unable to manifest as an avatar unless it is physically in contact with his skin.
Aftermath: Manifesting as an avatar can be an exhausting experience. Whilst an avatar, Nathan does not feel exhaustion or fatigue, having no muscles to ache or bones to feel weary. However, as soon as he exits the manifestation, he receives the accumulated stresses (hunger, cold, fatigue) all in one go. This is painful and, if he has been an avatar for extended durations, potentially crippling. In these situations he is almost certain to faint when he leaves the metal form, and depending on how tired he was before he manifested, he can be taken out of action for some time after that.
Unconsciousness: If rendered unconscious for whatever reason, he immediately ceases his manifestations and resumes human form. If he is subsequently brought into contact with a metal he will change to that metal’s form and remain so until he regains consciousness and can change back.
Weight: When Nathan transforms, it’s not like an armour of metal coating surrounds him, or that his skin changes; his entire body turns to living metal. Even if he turns into a light metal, he’ll still weigh much more than any human. This means that people will have a hard time saving him from a fall, that only those with super strength could even lift him and that floorboards and other weak materials might easily break under his weight.
Magnetism: The magnetic metals are Iron, Nickel and Cobalt, but there are metallic compounds such as Steel, as well as the rare-earth element metallic alloys: Neodymium and Samarium. If Nathan becomes an Avatar of any of these substances, he becomes vulnerable to magnetic manipulators.
Electricity: Depending on the metal Nathan is an Avatar of, this could be a tremendous weakness. Copper, for example is particularly conductive, as is Silver. An avatar of either of these forms would render him especially vulnerable to electrical attacks. Titanium, however, has almost no conductivity, and so would grant him relative immunity. Generally, most metals are more conductive than people, however, so he’s likely to be more susceptible when in metallic form.
Heat: As an avatar of metal, he can withstand tremendous heat without feeling any pain. Far more than a normal man could. Just as every man has a breaking point, however, every metal has a melting point. If the heat he is subjected to is greater than the current Metal’s melting point, he will begin to melt! If Nathan manages to cool down, his merging ability allows his body to reshape itself to normal. If he does not, and melts completely, then his liquid-metal will pool together, unable to move but capable of reforming itself once the heat has been sufficiently lowered to make this possible. If the heat becomes so intense that the metal evaporates, then that is the end of Nathan.
Holistic: Nathan is incapable of reforming from a molten pool with less than his full mass of metal unless he is able to make this up from another source of that metal as he does so. This means that if someone removes a portion of Nathan’s molten metallic body, he cannot return to his solid metallic form unless he is brought into contact with another metal of the same type. The same holds true for losses in his solid form. If Nathan incurs substantial damage whilst a Metal Avatar (loses a leg, for example) then unless he reforms that leg from another source of metal: when he leaves his metallic form, he will have lost the leg in human form. His mass does not change. Any loss of metal results in an equal loss of flesh. Theoretically the process is reversible, by becoming a metallic avatar and merging to restore damage but if Nathan loses a leg he’s not going to be in any shape to do that for some time.
Secondary mutation description: Not Applicable Strengths: N/A Weaknesses: N/A
Fighting Style None, really.
Explanation: He’s never been in a fight before. He’d try it like in the movies. Pros for fighting style: He'd look damn cool while doing it. Cons for fighting style: He'll lose to anyone who even remotely knows what they're doing.
Faction Allegiance
Unaffiliated. He’s a 15 year old kid with no powers (yet) so no-one’s interested in him. That said, he’s pretty naive and whoever gets to him first…
History Of Your Character Nathan was born on the second of September, 1994. He grew up in the suburbs of London, but in one of the nicer neighbourhoods. He has an older brother called Michael and a younger sister called Jessica. He made friends easily and got on fairly well at the local state school. He’s been on family holidays to Cornwall and Yorkshire, but has never left the country. He’s not had much excitement in his life so far. He’s gone to school, had a few girlfriends, but not gotten anywhere serious. Never had a proper job. He’s currently waiting for his exam results. He’s sixteen, and nothing much has really happened to him yet. He’s always thought his life was a little too….easy. A little too simple. There’s nothing challenging or complex about his current life. Poor sod, he’s got it all to come.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google told me. But it told me not to tell anyone else. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Nope, first character. Sample RP:
The alarm buzzed loud and shrill in his ear. Like a brazen klaxon. Nathan blearily rubbed his eyes and looked over at the red numbers, casting an eerie glow over his otherwise dark room. 6.45. Time to get up. Nathan leaned over slowly, his arm extending reluctantly as it left the comfort of his snug duvet and flicked the alarm off. He swung his protesting legs out of bed and shuffled like a zombie down the hall to the bathroom.
Fifteen minutes, one shower, one teeth-brushing, one hair-fixing and one hurried dressing later, Nathan was ready to leave the house at 7.00. Same as yesterday. And the day before that. In fact, Nathan ALWAYS left the house at 7.00, got to the newsagents at 7.10, picked up his bundle of papers, cycled the usual route, stopping to deliver the papers in person and earning himself a few smiles around the neighbourhood before returning home promptly at 7.45.
Checking his hair in the mirror one last time, he gave himself a quick smile and grabbed his schoolbag from the corner of his bed, where he had left it last night, packed and ready. Breakfast came and went (a messy affair, since Jessica was now 2 and spilled the majority of her food in the least convenient locations possible) and before he knew it, he was sitting, chatting away to his friends on the bus to school.
Absent-mindedly flicking the flaking green paint from the peeling walls of the bus, he ran through the programme for today in the back of his mind. Period 1 was English. Yuck. He just didn’t see the appeal of Austen at all… Periods 2-3 were P.E. which cheered him a little, since he enjoyed sports. Then there was break, Drama for 4 and 5 with Miss Loder. She was a really nice teacher and everyone liked her, but she’d been ill recently. He was glad for her return and vowed to make her first lesson back a good one. Then there was lunch and band practice.
Such was the train of thoughts running through the mind of our hero as he left home for school as a normal 16 year old boy. One of thousands doing the same that morning. For him, however, this was the last time he ever would…
