The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She was so proud. Lori wiped an imaginary tear away at the thought of her little Orderlings leading the X-men astray.
In theory it was icing on the cake. If she thought too hard about it she would worry about each of her own, especially the little one. She might even worry a bit for the X-men. There really was no reason for them to have to target her little troupe. Everyone could just get along if they'd just agree to her terms...
But enough was enough. Lori knocked on Aura's door. She seemed to be doing this a lot when she needed someone reliable and today, the Order leader needed her most faithful people with her.
Aura was in her room, practicing with her Blade, ina series of strikes, she was getting better, the order had began paying for her to have lessons with the weapon. The salshing and stabbong motions were getting easy for her now, though she still felt her own powers were far more reliable then the blade, which the SIlver eyed man had shown could be taken from her grasp and then used against her. SHe knew however that even with mastery over the weapon she would not be able to match the vampire.
She had tried to put the fight behind her, but found herself still thinking about it when her mind wonderd. Shaking her head of it, she looked down at her pet skunk, leaning down and putting the animal, Aura breifly considerd how many people seemed to realize right away the creature was indeed a skunk, however to Aura it still looked like a cat. Hearing a knock at the door, Aura stood up and watched her pet look up at her, as if offended she had stopped.
Moving to the door, Aura opened it and was happy to see Lori, their. It meant the matriarch had use for her and to the girl glowing in pink, their could be no greater honor. Aura's only then realized she still had her sword in hand, its blade covered in white powder from the various furniture items she had decided were practice for her attacks.
"Of course" Aura replied to Lori at once, her back straightening in pride at the question, even as a crashing noise of her desk caving in echoed behind her. "How can i help you with this task?" she went on knowing that knowing whta the mission was would be the most helpful thing at the moment.

(OOC: Let me know if you need me to change anything.)
Meld had been sitting and meditating in her room when the summons had arrived in the form of Lisa. She had been meditating more often lately, a remnant of her time with Hunter, which was slowly and gradually coming back to her. All of her memories were starting to return, in bits and pieces and with agonizing slowness, but at least by now she could see the progress. The meditation had been serving two purposes, not only helping her rebuild the lost years of her life but also helping her to gain a hold of her addiction to violence an death. She had killed almost no one in the weeks following the church incident and even her acts of violence had decreased somewhat. Overall, she was satisfied with the progress that she'd managed to make and Lori had been nothing but supportive of her decisions. She was pretty sure, in fact, that the Order leader appreciated the fact that Meld was trying to stay out of the spotlight more.
When the knock came to her door, Meld blinked her eyes and went to answer it. She gave Lisa a smile and accepted the offered note. She wasn't sure if Lisa was human or mutant but it didn't really matter much anyway. The woman supported mutant rights and that was the important thing. The note informed her that, apparently, Lori had need of both herself and Aura and she was to meet in her one true friend's room to find out what she was needed for.
After a quick shower to make sure that she was properly presentable, Meld made her way to Aura's room. While she was beginning to recall bits and pieces of why she had left The Order the first time, Meld had come to the conclusion that, perhaps, she had indeed acted in haste back then. Now she could see that although she should continue to act for the mutant cause on her own, there was no reason to disparage the powerful organization that had the same goals in mind as she did. Not only would she be a fool to do so, but she was beginning to see the Order more as a family rather than merely a place to work for. Aura had been her best friend through thick and thin and Lori had proven herself not only a competent leader, but also as someone who cared about her fellow Orderlings and was willing to actually help them. That was something Syn had never done and and it was best that she had died, in Meld's opinion.
When Meld arrived at Aura's room she saw that the door was still open a crack. Still, she knocked out of politeness. "Lisa informed me that you wanted to see me?"
Lori loved that Aura's first response was yes and then her second question was how. She was the perfect soldier. That also made her perfectly exploitable, a trait that was good in Lori's hands, but bad in others. What was she to do with her perfect soldier? Lori reached out to touch the other girl's cheek. "What am I to do with you?"
Aura probably had even less of an idea than she did.
Meld opened the door and was strictly business, straight to the point.
"You might notice that the Sanctuary is a bit sparse as far as our little family goes. I'm sorry if you feel left out. I sent them away on an important mission, but not as important as the one we're about to make happen." Lori winked at Aura. "Always save the best for last."
"You two are the only ones who have been out on the field testing what I would like to introduce to the world. You two should be there when we put the last pieces in to place." The Order leader grinned. "Besides. There are these mean people who regulate the buying and selling of the type of machinery I don't want associated with our good name.
Shall we?" She had it all planned out. Every i dotted, t crossed. Every x and o accounted for... supposedly.
"I am but a weapon, use me as such" Aura stated almost automatically and shivered at the touch of her leader. To her the simple act was as high of praise as she could ever deserve and only meld's entrance kept her from saluting, the idea that she ahd not been required to do so in years escaping her. This was getting better and Aura was already liking the way things were beginning to unfold without even knowing what they were about to do.
"I had wondered about that" Aura admitted having wondered about this and if she ahd not failed again in some way. Though she was ready to ask, Lori instead gave her a reason that put her internal worry at ease, they ahd been saved for an important mission. The oride within her at this news was more then she had felt in quite some time, she was useful and trusted by her Matriarch, what more could a soilder want?
"I see, due to the Church incident, that attracted the silver eyed Mutant, i must ask, are we aloud lethal force, or simply keep them indisposed?" She asked wanting to make sure of her orders. The last thing she wnated to do was make a mistake in the presence of the matriarch, the thought of failing in front of her was enough to send a chill down her spine.
Aura sheathed her sword and looked down, smiling and leaning down she once again pet her skunk and pull a tank of live mice out from unde rher bed, grabbing one, before moving out of the room, the skunk was at her heels, the idea of an easy meal easily on it's mind. Dropping the mouse, it barely hit the ground when the skunk was on it and began prepared to eat it's pray. "Such a cute kitty" she said watching before moving on.

Meld had been aware of the sparse nature of Sanctuary but, the mutants of Sanctuary being independent as most of them were, she hadn't thought to question it. Some like herself and Aura were, of course, a part of the Order and thus sometimes did missions on behalf of the Order. Many were not. But almost all, with very few exceptions, were the type to do as they pleased when they pleased in most situations. She liked to think that most would at least have the sense not to go against orders or to do anything too rash but, if she were honest with herself and she almost always was, she had to admit that such was often wishful thinking. Even she had been known to do things that some woudl consider rash and dangerous, though she liked to think she was getting a handle on that problem.
"Have you worked out some of the...less pleasant side effects of the drug?" Meld asked. She still felt torn about the experience testing the drug and the many people that had died in some of the most horrible ways imaginable, their temporary powers consuming them from the inside. If, as she prayed, the impact the drug made in the end was significant, than the sacrifices would be worth it. But even she, with the reputation of being a hardened killer willing to do anything for her cause, a reputation earned for good reason, could not accept those deaths if they turned out to mean nothing. Only the barest flicker of emotion passed over her face.
"What do we need to know in order to succeed in this mission?" Meld asked. She trusted Lori, even trusted that she would make the deaths the drug had caused mean something, although it hadn't always been so. "What sort of situation are we about to walk into? What sort of resistance are we likely to face?" The exact nature of the machinery wasn't important for the success of the mission and so she forewent that particular question, although she was burning with curiosity. That question could come later.
The skunk, Lori was glad to see left behind. Aura's room was creepy. Human bones and uncomfortable twisted looking furniture made of all kinds of parts. Everybody needed hobbies, but... yuck.
In answer to Aura's question, "You are allowed lethal force because this is an incredibly important mission, but more important than the success of this mission is the stealth. We absolutely cannot have anyone follow us, identify us, know where we are going or where we have been. Capisci?" Capisci, pronounced kah-PEEsh, meant she was asking her soldiers if they understood.
She wished to tae a low, dark and sleek car from the vehicle bay, but the candy van would have to do. She hated white vans ever since she had survived miserably in the back of one last summer. But there was no need to be afraid of a van. It wasn't the van's fault she'd played battery to a weapon. "Can either of you drive?" She could, but would rather do this without her wicks which were kind of attention grabbing with the constant flow of electricity between the diverting triangles.
To Meld, "We've got it worked out so that it's safe. This isn't the end game for our little chemical, but there's no reason not to turn a profit off of this derivative."
So far no one had really put two and two together. She had her teams develop a drug to activate latent x-genes and develop a way to attach x-genes to those who lacked them. If she had her way those two compounds would one day work together instead of melt school children. Lori had so been hoping that Meld and Aura would witness the birth of a new generation of mutants instead of a wholesale chemical massacre. They'd had quite enough of that already.
The faction leader grabbed one of the extra license plates out of the pile and handed Meld a screw driver. "Would you girls like anything to help disguise your identifying features?" It was preference really, but the more forgettable they were, the better.
"To my knowledge they have no idea we're coming." She pulled a printout from Lisa out of her back pocket. "This is the warehouse where we pick up," she pointed, "this is our drop point. We need no witnesses and to leave nothing rememberable behind in our wake. This is the crowning piece on what is going to fund us for the next year at least. If they can't tie it to us then when the operation goes south, and trust me it will if the Xmen or police ever get their act together, I don't want our family or company to take the fall." This was why she selected her most trusted Orderlings. It had to go smoothly in order to ensure their futures.
"good" Aura said upon hearing that lethal force would be aloud, this made her happy, as it made things in her mind so much simpler and less sangerous. Living eniamies could get back up, dead ones in her experince did not and as such were safer. "I think im going to like this job" she said with a bit of a giggle, her aura around her arm flaring up and forming what looked like a buzz saw before melting back into her aura and fading away. She did not understand the last word capisci however but assumed it was understand from the context. "I understand" she said in confirmation.
"I can, though last time the car ended up in the pool of that house" she said thoughtfully recalling her driving experience with abyss, turning to Lori she decided to ask a very important question. "What is the break any way? I trhink i recall a man screaming it as he bounce doff the window" she asked innocently, not really understanding the idea the car could be slowed with it. In fact her prior driving experience had been summed up by the words floor it.
"I see, what concearns me with the chemical is are the humans who we empower mutants or are they still filthy animals?" she asked of the drug unsure herself and not holding meld's reservation about all the people they had killed, her only worry was if she killed them she might be making an unjust murder. She was hoping in her mind that this drug would make the mutant utopia she was hoping for. she might live to see the world she had been fighting for.
"I do not know, i am reconizeable to the police, they tend to shoot before saying much these days" she said tilting her head like it was rude for them to shoot at her at all, and to her it was. Aura saw humans hurting mutants as a crime punishable by death, whare as mutants were free to kill humans at any time.
"we can do stealth" she said with a smile and a look at Meld, they could certainly do stealth though it had this habit og going south midway through, Aura was now under orders and as such would do everything in ehr power to ensure her orders were fulfilled. "We will suceed even if it means my life" she said without remorse or fear in the idea of her own death. "With the x-men distracted though it should be easy, maybe we could turn the media on them as well after all the les the public trusts them the less they will watch us" she said in a moment of clear thinking.

Meld nodded curtly at the affirmation that they were allowed lethal force. She had been making progress against her addiction to killing and hurting others, the meditation having helped a lot, but even beyond that being able to kill your enemies made things much simpler. A dead enemy was not a threat, a living one was always an unknown, no matter how certain you believed their incapacitation to be. Even if she was able to completely eliminate any trace of pleasure she got from the kill, she would never be a pacifist for those most practical of reasons.
"I can drive," Meld affirmed. "If need be, I can even acquire us an anonymous vehicle." She grinned and held up her blue veined hand as if that explained everything. Which, in fact, it did. It had become one of her most indispensable flesh melds, allowing her to start up virtually any passenger sized vehicle. In truth, she never had gotten her license, with her ever growing list of crimes there didn't seem much point, but she did have a solid understanding of the laws of the road and had been the wheel man several times over the course of the past year. The trick was driving the same as the other cars on the road and thus not getting noticed. Without the notice of the police, there was no reason not having a license would be a problem.
"I'm not sure that my more distinct features can really be hidden," Meld replied to Lori with an apologetic shrug. "Unless you know how to hide a metal tail and taloned feet?" She raised an eyebrow, not being entirely serious. Unless her boss had some powers of illusion that she wasn't aware of, she was fairly certain there were no easy ways to hide her more distinct features. It wasn't her face that tended to be recognized anyway, it was the fact that she was a walking, bladed, mutant cyborg.
"I can do stealth and, if need be, I can dispatch of potential witnesses quickly, before they have a chance to alert anyone. Do you have a way in, or is that something we need to figure out once we're there?" Meld didn't much like the idea of any anti-mutant media, even if it was against the X-men, but she left it to Lori to say something if she so desired to do so. After all, in this mission Lori was the one in charge. Any anti-mutant publicity, even against a potentially enemy organization, was publicity that would hurt all mutants. It went expressly against the tenets of her cause.
No one else wanted a disguise? Oh. Alright then. Lori stuffed her hair up into a wig cap that fit snugly around her scalp. "I can see your points." It did seem rather hard to pass Meld off as someone else. And even more disturbing...
Lori didn't drop her jaw at Aura's question of what a brake was used for, but it was a very near thing. "Remind me to teach you in the parking lot." Or hire her a tutor. Lori did not have the patience for teaching. "You can get around New York without a vehicle, it just seems like a necessary life skill." And she would not have her tools dull at any point of their blade.
There was so much that Aura needed in the way of teaching and learning. Like a domestic animal would be readied to be released into the wild, Aura need the opposite. She needed to be tamed and trained. Unfortunately for Lori, she just didn't have the time for every personal pet project she wanted to pursue. "Let's save you the discomfort, Meld. I'll drive." That would probably get them there in one piece better than either of the other two ladies and save Meld's handy power for an ace if needed.
Blonde hair was swallowed by a loose fall of dark brownish black locks. A set of movie-star sun glasses and that was enough to make Lori look like a different person. Lori tossed a hat to Aura. There really was no helping Meld.
> "Are the humans who we empower mutants or are they still filthy animals?"
Having selected her license plate, Lori waited for Meld to loosen the screws enough for her to slide the thin slip of metal across the back of the van's bumper. "Would you call a cat or mule a filthy animal? Humans have their purposes even if they are not immediately evident." The back plate was on, the front long gone. They were ready to roll. Lori grabbed the keys from the cabinet and opened the doors for everyone. "What you were asking, though— if I knew how to make the change permanent, you know I would. What we have to work with is a temporary solution, a band aid in the scheme of things, but it's a band aid that will put food on our table."
> "Maybe we could turn the media on them as well."
The horrible ideas just kept flowing as Lori pulled out onto the road. "Attention to one is attention to all. I want it to be as if this night never happened. I want nothing memorable about today at all if I can help it.
And as for our entry point? We'll take the side door. One guard. We're hitting a rival family's drug processing plant." Who ever said that Lori didn't care? She was taking bad drugs off the street with the intention of putting good ones in their place. And, with a blow like this to a rival family's source of income it was like taking them at the knees. Or if she had to put it into Meld and Aura terminology: "We'll be slicing the Achilles tendon of this group of slime. They think that they can sell in our territory, or sell at all. I say our need is greater."
She wove in and out of back streets, never even remotely a direct line between point A and point B. She even killed the engine a couple blocks away before turning around to her most dangerous family members. "Stealth. Quiet. They will never see us coming and I don't want them to see us leave. In fact, I don't want them to ever know where we are. It may be unavoidable to keep them from tracing this back to us, but during the act?" She ran her fingers across her lips zipping them and then pretended to toss the keys over her shoulder.
Two blocks away and halfway up a fire escape, a man leaned lazily against the brick wall beneath the security camera. That was their entry point.
"We can do stealth, we have done so a number of times before, leaving no witnesses makes everything delightfully easier, the dead leave fewer surprises after all" she said simply. to her it really was that simple, the dead could not hurt you the living could. "Plus few scream without their voice box, and a single cut can end a life forever" she went on mostly trying to highlight efficiently. The quicker a kill could be made, the less trouble they could cause while alive.
"A cat or a mule are anaimals, however the term filthy is just to highlight the fact that unlike a cat or mule humans actively try and kill us. Other then that i suppose you could compare cat's mules and humans, their all just meat once their cooked after all" Aura shrugged "A humans purpose is much the same to feed of their lesser's and to be eaten by those higher then them on the food chain" Aura said clearly not getting the point of the statement."If this is a abnd aide that puts food on the table...." Aura tilted her head for justa moment before her eyes brightened. "So the dead infected humans are to be food?" She asked curiously. "their are better atsteing animals but food is food" she said witha shrug.
"well not of the event of course, but the enimy of my enimy is our tool" Aura said sounding like she was quoting somthing she knew well, and in fact she was, a saying she had heard quite often back in the woods.
"One guard will be easy enough, poor animal won't even get to scream" Aura said with a giggle that highlighted that she did not feel the poor animal knowing his fate was of any consideration at all. "It matters not if they do trace it back they will simply have to accept that or we will simply slaughter them and their kin untill they understand" Aura said with almost no remorse. Aura briefly considered adding an exception for mutants but lori said their were to be no survivors. Aura hopped in the car and pulled a rather batterd looking photo of several teenage looking woman, one of which was aura.

As much as Meld valued Aura as a friend and a partner, there were some things about the girl she would never understand. She had long ago come to accept Aura's views on humans, even if she couldn't entirely agree with them and her taste in furniture was a bit on the morbid side, to say the least. But then something like this would come around and she would wonder anew what had happened in her friend's past to make her the way she was. She probably had more of the story than most, but even that couldn't be all of it she was sure. What a horrible thing to do to a child, twisting their mind the way that Aura's had clearly been twisted. Even her own parents, bigoted and anti-mutant though they were, had never done anything half that twisted to herself.
"You can drive then," Meld agreed. It didn't really make much difference to her anyway. Sure it was a little inconvenient driving with her rather unique modifications, but it was more than doable. She had done so before and in all likelihood would do so again. Taking direction from her boss, she loosened the screws to the license plate. It was good that someone was trying to educate Aura about mutants. Meld had never been able to do so, especially given her constant battle with her addiction to killing them. She needed to hear it from someone, however. At least Meld knew she had a problem and was taking steps to deal with it, Aura didn't even realize that much.
Meld liked the idea of showing a rival organization just what the consequences were for selling in Order territory. She smiled, but said nothing, keeping things utterly professional. She was on the job now and that meant all her focus had to be on that job. In the past she had been involved in similar missions, one gang trying to prove to another gang they were superior, but this was different because the Order was more than just a mere gang. It was a family a mutants, a family she was a part of, that was bettering the mutant cause. That meant everything to her.
Although silent, Meld kept constant watch with her tail eye. Every few seconds, corresponding with the natural blinking of her human eyes, her ruby red tail would blink open, offering a snapshot of what was going on behind her. No one, while she was still conscious and alert, had a chance of sneaking up from them in any direction. Aura's casual talk about killing and the ways to do so didn't even phase her. After all, Meld was every bit the competent killer that Aura was and, when a death was necessary, she killed without remorse or hesitation. She was a warrior through and through and a warrior could not get skittish at the thought of a little blood.
"The dead are more telling than you like to think." Lori was grumbling to herself mostly. Forensic pathology could point the finger just as easily as a live, fallible human or mutant. Despite Aura's protests that humans were not regularly benign, Lori couldn't help but notice that humans did not actively try to kill her. "Humans like an eye for an eye, Aura. By their tally you must owe most of your person. It's a wonder no one has succeeded in taking that bounty."
And just to be clear. "We do not eat humans. We were once like them. They need our help to be like us." Talking to Aura was really starting to make Lori feel sick. And that was no easy feat. In fact at Aura's giggle Lori's hand shot out and popped the pink girl lightly on the mouth, quick as a whip. She'd hardly made contact but her point was clear. Shut up. "I rescind your killing allowance, Aura. It will do your skill good to think another way."
With that she opened the doors to unload the kids from the van. They had a short walk ahead of them, but it was still there. "Get your minds ready." There was a stillness that happened for Lori before action. A place in her head where no one lived. "Looks like he's wearing rubber soled shoes." Had he been wearing something less, she could have just shocked the hooey out of the fire escape and effectively shock him too. A shame it wouldn't be that easy.
"Yes, the cops stopped asking me to put my hand's up and shoot when they see me these days. However i know one day the humans will likely kill me, i am not so foolish to believe i will live to see the mutant utopia i wish for. I already bare the shame of living while unable to defend my team, That will not happen again, still i will fall fighting" Aura said feeling her meaning was clear. She was ready to die, as solders usually died in combat, so long as she could be of some use to her people and to her leader. Aura still felt shame about living while the others fell. Aura glanced back at her somewhat tattered picture.
"Eh Human tend to...." Aura began but was popped on the mouth, she fell silent instinctively, making no move or sound of defiance. "As you wish" she said simply though in her mind she knew this would make things much harder. Still with Meld, they would succeed, Aura could be non-lethal she simply rarely saw a need to let humans live. TO Aura every dead human was an entire blood line their people would not have to fight. She was happy when they got out of the van and found out right away that meld and her own's talents would be needed.
Aura smiled, though she was unable to kill, their were other way's to kill a human. Keeping her Aura suppressed, Aura knew her plan was dangerous but the idea had worked before. Stumbling into veiw of the guard, Aura held her leg and moaned just loudly enough for the man to here. SHe leaned back against the wall and slid down. Aura did not look to see the man's reaction, acting as if she had not seen him, though she was sure she had likely had it if the guard was at all intelligent.

It was, perhaps, a testament to how often Meld spent time with Aura that she didn't even blink at her mention of eating humans. Of course Meld would never do such a vile thing nor could she ever support it, but some things just weren't worth the argument. What Aura did in her own spare time was her own concern and nothing Meld said or did was going to change that. There were more important things to concern themselves with by far, such as the successful completion of their current mission.
Meld wasn't sure if Lori's rescinding of lethal force was directed at her as well or just at Aura, but it didn't much matter either way. She was an expert martial artist, black belt in two different disciplines and not to mention the extensive amount of training she had done on her own in order to incorporate her rather unique modifications into her fighting technique. There were any number of ways in which she knew how to incapacitate an enemy without actually killing them. True it wasn't quite as certain as actually killing an enemy, but if the mission involved getting in and out quickly, then it would be certain enough.
Even though Aura and Meld had not discussed the mission beforehand, the ruse she used acting sick and injured in order to distract the guard was something they had used, to some success, in the past. The moment she realized what her oftentimes partner had in mind, she crept behind the guard. It was a simple matter from there, almost too simple, to wrap her tail around the man's neck and squeeze, cutting off the air supply to his brain. In less than a minute he was unconscious, though very much still alive. "Did you want to tie him up to ensure if he does wake up he won't be a threat?" This directed at Lori. The beauty of the action was that the only one of the three of them the man had seen was Aura. Her own distinct appearance had remained entirely hidden from him.
