The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Saph had a great burning light behind his eyes as he pulled a little green woman through the crowds along the short of the Hudson river, rudely pushing people aside in order to get a good spot. He needed to find that rare place that had a great view and wasn't too crowded!
He recalled a great place from last year, and was trying to remember exactly where it was; it was hard to find your way around with people everywhere. "Jees, we got here just in time... they f- I mean... It'll start any second." He smiled mischievously as he ushered Andrea through the crowd. He was fairly certain she had no idea what was going on, and considering the poor girl had spend all of her life locked in her house, he was determined to be the first one to show her something as magical as what they were about to see...
The older mutant recalled his first firework show... He had been young, but he could never forget feeling the profound thump you felt in your chest when a great flower of flames bloomed in the sky. He dug for his phone and took a quick glance down... only a minute left! He had to find a spot! He paused to look around, and spotted it! Bingo!
With a few more pushes through the crowd they came to a small clearing with a big man standing by a roped off area with a few people in it. Saph smiled widely, reaching into his pocket to fork over five dollars. The man let them through, and he pulled Andrea on up to the best spot.
He looked over to andrea, a big grin lighting up his face as he pointed out into the sky."Alright! It'll start any second now! look up!"
The first canister fired off as if right on queue.
"Saph-" She was cut off as she was nearly knocked over by a woman who passed. "Where are you- Oof!- Taking me?!" Being dragged around behind the man was very uncomfortable, and the huge crowd only made it worse. He had snagged her randomly, and dragged her out the door without so much as an explanation. Just a silly grin, and hurried steps. Andrea squeezed between two people before the crown parted a little, and she was able to actually run next to Saph instead of behind him. He started to say say something, then stopped suddenly covered his tracks with different words instead. She blinked at him, and narrowed her eyes. Something was up.
"What's about to start?"
The paused before a sectioned off area, and Saph gave a random guy guarding the area some money. Her confusion doubled. The guy stepped out of the way, and the pushing and pulling started again until they stopped. The space was petty open, with just a few scattered groups off to both sides. People were sitting on blankets and towels... She couldn't wrap her mind about what was going on. Common sense had been left back at the mansion for the day. Saph told her to look up, "Why do I have to-" Her eyes had risen to the skyline, and right in the middle of her question the first firework shot into the darkness, and exploded. Andrea shrieked and threw herself into Saph's chest on instinct, then Managed a peek upwards in time to catch a beautiful firework as it sparkled to life. Her terror turned to awe, and she turned her face upwards...
Saph showed surprise for a moment when she jumped into him, but then smiled warmly as she looked up. Instinctively, his hands wrapped around her to protect her, but they there for a while as the show started.
The blues, greens, reds, whites, and golds pierced the night's sky. IT arose a pride for his country that he hoped everyone felt when they looked up at those flying lights... Here was the place where one could hope, and dream to be what ever they could dream to be; and if you strived hard enough, it was always possible.
He looked back down to Andrea for a moment, seeing the lights reflect off of her sunglasses... He was sad that she had to cover her eyes for something like this, but he knew that it would be magical anyways. She was beautiful. He knew she didn't think it, but he did. He couldn't help it. He reached a hand up to gently turn her head and press his lips to hers. He hoped she wouldn't freak out like last time, and afterward they could just watch the fireworks, but it just kinda felt right for the moment.
He felt a great thumping in his chest as he kissed her, and he had a feeling that it had little to do with the fireworks over head.
Awe... pure Awe. There was nothing else to describe it. Every time one of the bright blooms exploded in the darkness, she felt it boom in her chest and was forced to blink just a little out of instinct. It was magical to her. All she had ever seen was fireworks on TV. Small colorful dots and lines on a screen that neither made one blink, nor caused the boom to echo in your chest. She loved it, instantly. One of her hands dropped from her chest where they had curled up, and she grasped Saph's hand quickly.
She wanted to rush to the front. She wanted to be closer! Her chin tilted up further as a bright purple firework went off, and white sparkles branched off and rained down. She felt a hand on her jaw, turning her from the spectacle, and fought it for a moment. She didn't want to look away, not until the show was over. "Saph, what is i-" His lips met hers again, and she gasped slightly.
Her back stiffened, and she brought her other hand to his chest, pushing slightly as she tried, and failed, to gather her wits. Then another bright orange firework boomed over head and she felt it in her chest. Her fingers relaxed, and she let him lead the way into the kiss...
She put a hand to his chest, and he only gently pulled her closer. She didn't freak out. That was good. For lack of better words, it made him really happy.
Now, a good firework show generally had three finales; two smaller ones, and one big one.
The seconds blurred into minutes until the sound and lights of the first finale slowly drew them away from the moment, and Saph slowly retracted, staring into her sunglasses at where her eyes were... He found himself wishing he could look into them. Without a word, he slowly reached for her hand, and turned to look up at the fireworks, a content smile forming on his lips.
That thump in his chest never calmed; it beat away like a drum at pace with the exploding lights in the air.
It wasn't like the last time he had kissed her. Her lips had barely met his and she had pulled away... just a brief touch, but it was enough to send her into near hysterics. This time though... it was... different.
His lips were warm, and she felt warm in his arms. When he pulled away, she was left breathless, and had completely forgotten about the fireworks. She full on stared at him for a few moments, a blush finally catching up to her as it crawled up her neck and into her cheeks. He grabbed her hand, sent a chill up her back, and she turned back to face the show. Thoroughly flustered.
Her small fingers interlaced with Saph's and she squeezed for a moment, before the next firework sent a deep rumble though her frame. They were gearing up for the second burst of sparkles, squeals, and explosive colors... The feeling of awe crept back in, and a small smile grew on her lips.
She squeezed his hand again, and leaned her head on his arm, sighing happily. "Thank you, Saphirus..."
