The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Was he sure? He was certain.
"I told you once before, I'd protect you," Shin looked her in the eye. "Now, I intend to keep that promise, Kealey. Don't make me a liar." He put on a confident smile. "We'll get through this. I won't let anyone hurt you and you don't have to worry about them hurting me.
She wasn't a trouble magnet. This wasn't her fault. Just like the time before, with Roland. Just like with the nightmare and the murderer. She was not to blame. He didn't want to remind her of that right now, though. He wanted her to feel his resolve and strength. Nothing bad was going to happen today. He wouldn't let it. It was as simple as that.

Sometimes certainty was a wonderful thing to feel from someone else. Shin was sure, and Kealey nodded her head, swallowing the lump of emotion that had suddenly formed in her throat. He wanted to protect her, even though all these bad things kept popping up in her life. Kealey knew Shin was serious too, he didn’t say things if he didn’t mean them. Something about that set off a little bell in the back of Kealey’s mind, but she didn’t think about it now.
Swallowing hard to get rid of that lump, Kealey nodded her head and looked back at Shin as he told her that she didn’t have to worry about anyone hurting her…or him. That wasn’t necessarily true, but his confidence helped put her mind a little at ease. ”I think I’m very lucky.” she said, ”To have someone like you around…” She hoped he would stay, that all of her drama wouldn’t eventually be too much.
She looked back down at the pictures in her hands, flipping through to the one in the crowd at Mood, ”Do you remember anyone with a camera?” she asked, a hand creeping up to toy with a blond ringlet as she thought, ”There were so many people at the Pokemon Tournament…and I wasn’t paying any attention today…It just doesn‘t make any sense.”

She was feeling better. That was good. She meant a lot to him, as a friend. His being around...well... Shin was just glad he could help. He was thankful for any small thing he could do to make her life easier. All he wished was that things like this... he didn't want things like this happening.
Shin's calm smile softened slightly at her words, then shifted, as she turned the topic back to the problem at hand. Shins focus returned to the photographs in her grasp.
Shin shook his head. "I don't remember. I was so focused on everything going on, the sidelines of reality just seemed to blur. I didn't see anyone notable outside, either... they'd have to have been somewhere in the area where they could snap the photo, without being seen. At Mood... let me see that photo again..." Shin asked. "And that one you have framed?" His voice tapered off in a questioning tone. "What's that about?"

Kealey held the framed picture and the one from the envelope out to Shin as he talked through the answers to the various questions Kealey had asked. She didn’t remember anything particular from Mood either, there had been so much chaos, and the Police had asked so many questions. The whole thing was a huge blur of activity.
”It’s a picture of my family.” Kealey said, looking back at the picture she’d handed to Shin, ”My Mum gave a copy to both of us. As far as I knew they’d gotten rid of it when they sold everything in the house. I kept this one.” That picture had traveled from Ireland in the pages of Kealey’s diary, then survived the fire Roland had started at her old apartment.
”I just don’t know who would have taken it. My Mum and Da’ didn’t have any family that we knew of…and it’s not a copy. It just defies all logic…”
Kealey sighed, and frowned, looking around the room unable to shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She’d lived like this once before and the prospect of going through it all was unpleasant to say the least. There was a difference this time, though. Shin was there this time, and he’d promised that he’d help her through whatever happened.
”Think we should head back to the mansion?” she asked.

He held the glass frame delicately in his hands, staring down at a piece of Kealey's past. His eyes trailed over the faces of her family. He remembered her story. She hadn't originally been from New York. She'd lived elsewhere... she'd only moved here after these people had been lost.
He set the picture back down on the bedsheets, moving to the next photo. The family picture was tough to look at, knowing that. His mind groped at the memory of the Mood fire, trying to recall mysterious figures, or people bearing cameras. He could imagine a blank face, watching them, grinning impossibly at the fire with its featureless features. He hadn't seen anyone like that. How could a wraith like that possibly exist?
Shin looked up to Kealey as she finished, shaking off his uncertainty and confusion.
Should they head home...?
"Hold on a second... you said someone else had a copy?" Shin asked.

Uncertainty and confusion. Shin’s emotions were an exact photocopy of her own, and Kealey watched as he set the framed photo aside. So many emotions attached to such a tiny piece of paper. It hadn’t been a special event, just a time when someone had been present to take a picture of the four of them together. It had been a couple years old when the church had happened. It was still the only thing Kealey had of that old, normal life.
Shin spoke again, and Kealey was pulled from her mental reverie to look at him, frowning slightly. He wanted to know who had the other copy of the picture. ”My sister.” she said, shaking her head, ”It was at our house when the church happened. I was…incapacitated for quite some time and the bank took possession of the house. With nobody named in my favor…all of our things were either sold off or thrown away. I had no idea that the other copy had survived.”
Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to get this picture. Who though, and how?

Her sister was the owner of the photograph... or at least, she had been. Before she'd been...
He didn't finish the thought. There was no way family could get like that. It wouldn't do them any good focusing on that. Neither of them knew who had found the photograph, or why they were doing this. They didn't even know when the person would strike next. Shin leaned forward, stooping his back and steepling his fingers. His brow crinkled thoughtfully.
"Hmmm..." He was silent for a minute. Then, Shin looked to Kealey seriously. "Let's finish up here, and go back to the mansion."

Shin’s concentration naturally spilled over and Kealey watched him intently as he tried to work through whatever thoughts were rolling through his mind. What was he thinking? Had he figured something out that she’d missed?
Suddenly he stopped thinking about it and suggested that they get back to the mansion. They needed to finish packing up first, though. Suddenly, the job didn’t seem as fun as it had a few minutes before. Kealey tried to push thoughts of stalkers and fires to the back of her mind, but failed a little. She had a feeling that was going to be the story of the day until they could figure out what was going on.
”Yeah…just let me grab a few pairs of sandals..” she said, pushing up from the bed and heading for the closet.
The packing process was far more streamlined this time, and Kealey only picked the bare essentials of both her shoes and her accessories. That didn’t mean she ended up leaving the apartment lacking, both duffel bags had been put to excellent use and she realized that it really was an excellent thing that Shin had agree to come along and help. Grabbing the first bag she came across, Kealey hefted it to her shoulder.

>>”Ready?”
Shin picked up the bags he was carrying, and nodded to her. "Ready"
They left the apartment, bags in-hand, and returned to the mansion. As Shin bent, setting the duffel bags down on the floor of Kealey's room, he spoke. "There. Much better." He looked up at her, straightening his back. Shin put his hands on his hips, and felt a pop. That had actually been some heavy lifting. He was kind of winded. Funny how clothes could be so heavy. "I guess that's everything."
He took a few steps to stand in the doorway, resting his arm against the frame. Then, Shin turned to look back in. "You okay?" He asked. There was a hint of worry in his voice.

They finished the packing and soon were on their way out of the apartment and back to the bus stop.
The bags were heavy and getting everything back to the Mansion was a bit of a trial to say the least. Kealey frowned just a bit as she lugged the bags. Why had she thought it was a good idea to bring so many clothes? Regular people didn’t really need that many clothes for the summer. Poor Shin, lugging a bag at least as big as hers. And since when had the Mansion been this far away?
At any rate, it was better to think about heavy bags and log treks home than the envelope that was currently poking Kealey through her purse. Those pictures, the fires, someone watching…Kealey sighed and went back to thinking about the bags.
They did manage to get back to the Mansion though, and as Kealey set her bag gratefully on the floor of her room, she turned to find Shin leaning against the doorframe. He was worried, if only a little, and he asked if she was okay. Kealey shrugged.
”I don’t know how else to be…” she said. ”I don’t know who would do something like this…or why these things keep happening to me, or if this is something I should really be worried about. So…I have to be okay, or I’ll be really not okay.” she hoped it made since to Shin, because honestly, it didn’t make any sense to her.
"Thanks again...for all the help." she said, and that did make sense.

"I understand," Shin replied lightly. "You have to keep moving, even if you aren't sure what steps to take." Taking one step after another, not looking back. Because, if you looked back, you had to acknowledge it. Acknowledge the fear.
He got her. He wished he didn't have to understand her on such a morbid topic.
"... And you're welcome." He finished. "If you need anything else. You know where to call."
Shin stepped out of the doorway, and left Kealey to her room.
