The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Why didn't he like Kealey rubbing the talking cat's ear again? Eh
It probably wasn't important, and certainly wasn't suspicion... what was there to be suspicious of about a kitty cat? They were creatures of stealth and secrets. It was perfectly natural the self-centered critters would like attention.
And apparently, Calley had a brother. "Ah..." Shin said, slightly taken aback. A pause. "He isn't very good at basketball." Smalltalk.
That was weird. He hadn't known Slate had a brother... he hadn't known a lot of things about Slate. The guy had a catlike mystery, himself. Stealth and secrets... Hrm... Shin made a note to look into that a bit further, some time. Maybe they could get to know each other better over a game of Horse?
The cat continued to purr, its head pressing accommodatingly against Kealey’s fingers. The boy continued to meh.
“Basketball?” He lifted an eyebrow. “I can imagine. He kind of goes to school here. I think. He goes to class even less often than I do. Doesn’t live here, either.” Not that Calley really did. He just maintained several rooms here, not all of them his own. Homes were overrated. You could never get kicked out of a place you didn’t live.
“Do you have any brothers or sisters?” He asked curiously, mostly to Kealey. The question went for Shin too though, he supposed, much the Asian was welcome to enjoy the cat’s purr while Kealey got the feline itself.

Calley’s brother apparently went to school at the mansion, but didn’t live there. Kealey nodded her head, the Mansion had its share of commuter students to go with the residents. There were perks to living in the New York area, even if the Mansion was a bit out of the way. And apparently he wasn’t very good at basketball.
More importantly, Shin was starting to put things together about the animal shifter, it was disconcerting to say the least. The best possible scenario was for Calley to leave, and soon.
He sidetracked her again, though, this time with a question about siblings. The question hit kind of close to home, given the situation and the memories Calley had brought to the surface when he’d returned to the Mansion after…after…
Kealey stopped scratching his ears and sat back in her chair. The purring had been nice….but.
”Nope, no siblings.” she said with a half-smile, then slight curiosity took over and she looked over at Shin. Had she ever asked him if he had siblings? Kealey didn’t know, but was about to find out.

Hmm... he hadn't known Slate went to classes at the mansion. ... and apparently, he didn't. Him going to classes was, to paraphrase Calley with a Pokemon reference, rarer than a Clefairy in Mt. Moon.
Shin decided that was an awful paraphrase. Absolutely awful. Bad Shin. Bad.
Shin idly wondered why these brothers were such bad at attendance. Did they... have problems with authority? Or were they simply lazy and forgetful?
Hmm...
Shin suddenly noticed a set of eyes locked on him. Kealey was looking at him curiously. Shin blinked. What had the question before been? Hmm. Oh. Siblings. "I have a sister," Shin said. "Her name's Sasami. She's back in Japan."
