The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nightmares are dreams too ... only bad ones.(Aura)
Brian Yawned lightly as he looked around the nearly empty apartment. Here he lived a couple of weeks after arriving here in New York. Even tough he knew he couldn't stay here the solution to this problem came rather easily. He found a new place to stay at a place people called the Mansion where other mutants live and study. He had spend most of the day packing and it was already almost midnight when he finished. He was amazed at how much stuff he got himself in that short period he was here. But even tough he got himself a key to get in he doubt if it would be smart to barge in whit all his stuff in the middle of the night. No instead of that he would move his stuff to his new room there in the morning so now it was time for some sleep.
Not much later he let himself fall down on his bed as he stared at the ceiling. He wondered about what he would dream about if he could ? Ever since he had this powers he always got into other peoples dreams instead of having some of his own. He wondered if he would dream about the mansion maybe ... or Belgium that he left behind. Knowing he probably would never know he slowly drifted asleep his mind slowly drifting trough the available dreams and about to enter a random one, just like the time he discovered about the Mansion in somebodies dream. Where will he end up this time ?
Aura fell asleep and quickly fell into her dreams. The sun was up and Aura lead the surviving kids from the Science labs, and made their way up the precarious spiked wall of wood, almost forty feet into the air, and they reached the top, she looked around finally as one of the boys called over to her, and slipped partly into the opening, following, all three stopped when they reached the other side, within the the illusion of a large knot of trees, was a large flat space. The trees had been grown on purpose to form a wall and below were hundreds of Mutants working and sparring.
Aura's smile at the conforting scene turned dark, as a flash of white blinded her for a secound and suddenly she was on a plain with others, Bullets whizzed by her head striking trees and rocks behind her, to ehr left was a Mutant who could controll plants, a heart and blood in her teeth.
"Their all around us! We must fall back" she yelled and they started to retreat before turning and running, despite the hail od bullets striking around them she felt a few hit her Aura, they were painful, but she ahd to ignore it, she had to get her squad out. As they ran Aura saw her new pupel, Sayr fall, a bullet in the back of his knee. Looking back she could already See the humans advancing.
"Please save me!" The boy pleaded, Aura was conflicted knowing what she was suppose to do, Her Aura blade came down, cutting the head of her new friend from his body and she cried even as she ran deeper into the woods. When she stopped she saw a floating head, the head of the mutant she ahd just killed. "Traitor, you killed me, it's all your fault, it's all your fault" He chanted and all Aura could do was scream no.
Brian sifted trough nearby dreamers casually as he wondered which one to enter. Eventually he just let his mind dwell and see where he would end up. As he felt himself enter a dream he noticed it was sunny even tough he he was in some kind of forest. As a visiting dreamer he hadn't a real form in the dream and appears as a glowing orb of light that floated trough the dream. He preferred this form to not instantly frighten the host of the dream by popping up as a stranger right in the middle of it. The place where he was almost seemed peaceful but that didn't lasted for long.
He had hoped that for once he could enjoy in a nice dream but as soon as he heard gunfire he knew it wouldn't go that way tonight. He never took control over a dream right from the start. If he did he could instantly know what was going on but he prefers to do a bit of research of his own too. As the orb passed behind a large tree there was a flash of light and he has taken his normal shape. The young man made his way silently trough the forest now and then catching glimpse of men whit guns.
The longer he stayed in this dream the more he started to get connected whit it realising this was a memory of the dreamer and when he found the body of a decapitated kid in a puddle of blood. Chills traveled trough his body as he proceed. One side of him wanted to know what happened here while another side wanted to get out of this place.
Nearing a small clearing he heard a girl scream and as soon as he arrived there he saw what was causing it. The head of the dead kid floated there in front of that girl blaming her for what happened to him and trough the dream Brian too knew that she indeed was the blame of his dead. He shook his head as he silently walked in in the clearing not wanting to startle her too much. So young and already be haunted by guild, it was a terrible thing to see and even he didn't knew what to think about it.
The disembodied head dissopeared as Aura breathed hard she looked over, and on the ridge, she watched as a bullet in slow motion peirced the head of one of her good freinds, sending her falling of the cliff to her death below. The Sound's of mortar fire could be heard not far off. All Aura could do was reach her hand out, a useless gesture, even as she did, she suddenly saw wooden planks falling around her and a severed hand holding a sword land right before her.
Above the background of explosions and automatic weapon fire a womans voice kept droning on in the background. "You must obey the orders you are given, it does not matter what they are. Orders come before family, friends and your own convictions and even your life." It said over and over again, seeming to come from noware. Flames began to spread all around them even As Aura cut through one of the falling wooden beams and suddenly charged at the advancing humans the weapons fire seems unable to hurt her, she was untouchable. Her blade came up on the first human, and then stopped just before it cut him, Aura looked into his eyes, and saw only the face of Sayr. "You can't be alive!" she shouted, but as she backed away.
As she looked around, all of the humans had the same face, a hundred sayr's marching against her, or rather by her, they seems to forget she was even there marching and fadeing off behind her. Aura was confused and afraid, two emotions she felt very rarely. The droning voice changed this time more excited. "The Humans are inferior, we are the evalutionary next step, you my soilders, may not live to see the mutant utopia we ight for, but the next generation of mutants will not have to fight, becuse of your sacrifice as long as you follow orders" it said even as a steel cage materilized around Aura and two shadowed figures, she knew to be her parents turned and left, their faces only blurs.
Seeing the following events unfold he knew more about the girl. Humans could be the most cruel creatures around to anything that they didn't understand or was more powerful than themselves. Having kept a low profile he never had trouble like these. The uther scenes of violence shocked and disgusted him. He disapproved what the girl did taking some body's live like that but on the other hand he found her brave to be able to save herself out of such a situation. He quietly watched all the humans take the face over of the death mutant as out of nowhere a large steel appeared locking the girl in whit two shady figures standing around it.
He suddenly appeared on top of the cage looking down at the girl. No Mather what person she was in their dreams everybody was at the mercy of their own subconsciousness and feelings. Dangling his legs over the side the bars made a hollow metallic sound every time the heel of his foot bumped against it. "That's quite a impressive speech they are holding here don't you think ?" The guy smirks as he looks down at you making sure you knew of his presence now.
"They are words to comfort our selfs, while we wait to bring vengeance upon the human dogs!" she said clearly proud of the words the voice was saying. Though she had never seen the man, her mind simply reasoned him there, as if he fit in perfectly. "I am glad miracle sent you, free me friend, so that we may make the river flow red with their blood and our fury!" she said to the man atop her cage, clearly beleiveing he was a part of miracles forces.
Even as he spoke to him a woman with long brown hair rose up in the distance, as she did dozens of Human solders were quickly impaled on the roots of the local trees, a second mutant waved her hand and more of the humans fell in flames. Aura smiled. "They come for us" she said watching, her eyes burning with delight as she watched. "We will be safe soon, where the humans will pay for their vengeance" she said having assumed her new friend was a mutant as well. "Open this cage so that we may join them in the fight! We must stand together with our brethren" she said to the man atop her cage having decided he was with miracle. She began trying to ahck her way through the bar's impatiently though the bar's did littile mote then scratch and make noise.
He slowly started to synchronize whit this persons dream realized what was going on mutants and humans where tied up in a giant massacre trying to gain dominance over each group but soon it started to get out of hand. the battle raged around the cage not one attack reaching this seemingly unbreakable cage. As she looked up while she spoke to him she would see that he was not longer on top of that cage but standing behind her inside the cage leaning against the bars whit his hands crossed as he looked over the scene.
"Is this really what you want. Mindlessly slaughtering these people ... Humans think they are tough but still whit all their guns and technology they are afraid of kids whose powers dwarf their own. I don't know what they have done to you here to cause this. They probably had it coming but still i don't understand ... Maybe you can enlighten this poor soul here before i set you free so you can have your fun whit those poor bastards. "He smirks amused as a human who got caught on fire started to run around hysterically trying to put the fire out. Even tough he was mostly kind to the outer world Brian had a rather sadistic side that he only showed in the darkest dreams.
"mindless? Foolish" Aura shook her head the raw disappointment in her eyes and voice were very obvious. It' simple evolution, when one race starts to become another, the old race, humans in this case, grow scared, That turns to jealously and fear That then turns to hatred which often makes for violence, it may not be their fault, but it makes them dangerous to our kind. Becuse of this the Humans must fall so outr children can survive to inherit the world, much as humans did when they evolved" she said as if it should be common knowledge anyone should know.
"But i won't hide their is not vengeance coloring, my motive, my parents left me to rot for months in a cage and even after i escaped the humans killed most of those i was imprisoned with and later most of my friends. I must avenge those who have fallen to the humans vile hands and make the world dafe for our children. I Know i will not see the day when our people inherit this planet, but i can ensure more of those children will not have to live in a war zone with each human i kill" she said, even as several indistict figures started for the cage, all of them woman.
As he listens to the girls speech he was suddenly standing outside her cage shaking his head a bit sighing. "You might have a point but I'm more of a subtle guy. I prefer to avoid conflict instead of seeking it." He holds out his hand as it almost seems that the whole reality ripples for a second as he connects himself fully to your dream. He smirks as he looks at you "Anyways i promised so ill let you out.
The cage starts to shake rather heavily as the top gets ripped of and flung away by some unseen forces. The bars bend outwards creating a strained metallic sound until the eventually snap lose and get thrown around the battlefield in the forest drilling themselves deep in the ground wherever they land even tough some of those lose projectiles created victims amongst the fighters. "There your free ... happy now ?" He smirks crossing his arms waiting for you to step out what remains of the cage.
"I am a solider, conflict is my destiny, as is death on the field of battle" she said her mind not fully grasping that these were lessons she would not learn for some time yet. She walked out of the cage, this guy whoever he was seemed off, she did not recall him at all and she even recalled the guards, well no ttheir faces, but she was pretty sure they did not dress like this guy. Then Aura grabbed her head as the dream world began to shimmer again.
Aura looked up from the table she was strapped to confused but almost unable to move, two people looked down at her one, was sayr the other Miracle She tried to speak but found no words came from her lips, not could she move them. They were underground and various computer equipment was scatterd along the walls, all with diffrent screens on them. Still the conversation of two was what captured the ear.
The older woman miracle looked down at her with a smile, the smile of a predator. "Sayr, enter her mind, we must mold her" she said stroking the back of the boy's head even as she drank from a rather large bottile of whiskey that wa sat her side. Aura never recalled seeing miracle without it.
"But, My lady, I don't know how to do what your asking" Sayr protested, but as he di the woman, smashed the bottile on the bed next to aura, and stabbed the boy, twisting the broken bottile for good measure, dropping him to his knees. SHe then kneeled down and brushed her hands against his arm and his flesh began to knit itself back together. "Do it for me sayr, please" she said her voice oddly hypnotic. "Yes my lady" he said before the scene schimmerd away and they were back to standing outside the cage.
"Very happy" Aura said seeming to have little memory of the scene that had just ocurred moments before. "Subtleness has it's place to, every empire needs it's spies, it's soilders and it doctors and more" she said witha shrug.
He just smiled a as he noticed something. Involuntary he suddenly got to see some disturbing images. The same girl he helped out of her cage was bound to a table. He didn't said anything as he knew she couldn't see him in here. It was a memory and even tough he could see it he didn't had a place in it. He only closed his eyes and looked away as he saw the women stab the boy. The sound of him getting stabbed made him sick. Mutants or humans, in levels of cruelty the two could match each other even tough the boy soon got healed from his wound. The tone in which she asked the boy to do it again was sickening sweet and manipulative. Those people disgusted him but for some way he also was impressed by her way of making somebody do as she pleased. Having the skill and brains to pull something like that of was always impressive even tough it was wrong.
As he blinked he was back outside the cage looking around for a second before sighing. "Your right, We all have a place in this world whatever we like it or not. The only thing what we can decide is where we really want to be even tough we often get pushed into a path set for us." He walked of in the fight holding his hands behind his back. Carelessly looking around as the bullets flew by him but never hit him. "So what is it for you ? Are you pushed into this path or is this really what you want ?"
"Mine is to be a solider, as Miracle informed me of what destiny had set for me. " she said honestly with a smile as she walked out of the cage happy. The scene once again altered to the side of a cliff, their were wooden building collapsed all over the place and burn marks in the grass, half rotten corpses dotted the area. "fate has somthing for us all" she went on though with the scene her happiness had gone, she clearly had no idea how much her dream was changing even before her eyes.
In the distence i figure was walking to them, Sayr and Aura nearly growled though had no recollection of killing him, in fact she seemed to expect him to be alive. Still he was not seeming to get closer. Instead Aura watched as another vertion of herself suddenly attacked him and although they talked she had no idea what they said. Though they argued about Sayr bending under torture and giving their position away and getting the others killed just so he would live.
"it...would seem....i am not perceiving things correctly again" she said not referring to this as a dream but believing her memories were obscuring her ability to see relaity as it really was again, like what ahd happened at the orphanage. "it's odd though....your the only thing here i can't recall at all.....in any memory set" she said beeliving she was awake and watching a memorie from one of the several sets she had of the same events.
He looked at her as his gaze wandered trough the ravaged field and watched the other version of you going at Sayr. Apparently she did start to figure out something was wrong but she still taught of this as memory's nothing more. "Indeed its easy for people to get deceived in this place. Only people whit a clear mind and unique skills like me can place any control on this place."
He stopped as he looked back at her. "Its true that you can't remember me because till today we never met before. But then again i guess you still haven't figured out where we are now do you. I guess its ok to give you a small hint of where we are and who i am. My name is Brian Pitschon, but as a mutant i am called Dreamer." He puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket wondering how she would react to his little tip.
"So im dreaming? this explains much, so your power then is what to enter others dreams?" she asked now much more curious about him then anything else in the area. She had just been watching herself fight Sayr and if it as a dream that it would make sence. Dream boy's power fascinated her. "I am Aura, my powers i think you have seen" she said casually with more curiousness then anything else in her voice.
"Your power would make you an excellent spy" she said honestly considering how such a power could be used. He had hung around and watched things and chosen to reveal himself. "My memories are a bit hazy at times, but i do remember most mutants i have encountered before. Can i ask your reason for entering my dream?" she said deciding simply to cross her legs and sit down no longer intrested in the things going on around her, she ahd seen it all before.
"The correct term of my ability is dream walking. I can enter and manipulate dreams at my liking. I can also put people to sleep but that's rather taxing to me ... " He claps in his hands and suddenly it seemed as if the whole dream rippled. The dream got cleaned out and now they where alone in the forest without any corpses or visions of her past haunting the background. "He looks back down at you smirking" Yes your ability to manipulate your Aura i already noticed" He actually searched her subconsciousness for the correct explication but didn't mentioned it. People don't take highly in people digging in their minds.
"Yeah maybe you are right saying that I'm a spy but why should i spy on people ?" He chuckles "Well i have to admit tough that I'm pretty curious. And why i ended up in your dream, well i am unable to sleep and dream myself so i automatically wander trough dreams. Unless I'm really exhausted tough and yeah your dream kinda pulled out my attention so to speak."
