The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a few weeks since Brian had met several people that had told him about a place called the mansion. First there was Twyla who showed him the Mansion in her dreams after he helped her get rid of a especially nasty nightmare and then there was this other girl Henrietta who also mentioned that place too it. While he was resting in his small apartment that he could use from some family friends his curiosity grew every day as he taught about how it would be to live along people of his kind all day. Eventually he couldn't restrain his own curiosity any longer.
A bit passed noon he arrived there whit a cab and looked out over the whole Mansion from a distance. The young man can hear in some distance the voices of several people coming from it as he curious walks over to the entrance of that place while looking around. He wasn't sure whatever he was gone come across there but he was sure that somehow he would like this place... and maybe come across some familiar people too, the world was a small place after all.

Aurum usually didn’t make a habit of visiting the mansion. It wasn’t that he was biased against mutants. It was far from it, actually. Aurum’s father was a mutant. The man had no quarrels with the mutant race, outside the obvious worries that came when one or two of them held up banks in his presence, or hurt his friends. Mutants could be great. Some of his best friends were mutants. It was just that, while the mansion was great and all, Aurum wasn’t a mutant. As such, he hardly ever found a reason to visit those hallowed halls of learning. Today, he had a reason. Shin had left something of his at The Full Circle book store, and it was important enough for Aurum to deliver it. He’d left his wallet.
Aurum took the bus to the mansion, and got off. He’d cleared his visit with whoever was handling gate duty that day. Aurum had called ahead. That meant, he had an easy route for getting through those heavy gates. He’d just ask nicely.
As Aurum approached the front gates of the school, his eyes fell upon another person. It was a slim man, slightly younger than himself, with brown hair and blue eyes. He looked like he was contemplating entrance.
Aurum walked up past him, pressed the intercom button, and told the gateman he was here. The gates opened. Aurum looked back to the man with a half-smile. “Need help?”
Curiously he looked up to the man as it seems like he was day dreaming a bit while looking at the place. "Maybe, I was just passing by because i heard about this place from a few people and it kinda sparked my curiosity. I wanted to come bye and take a look at this place myself."
He saw that the man announced himself and the gates opened clearing the way to the mansion. "I Suppose i should have contacted somebody first before randomly passing bye tough but then again i am still new in these parts so i have no idea who i should contact to begin whit." He puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket as he shrugs while looking from the mansion over to you. "I am Brian by the way."

>>"Maybe, I was just passing by because i heard about this place from a few people and it kinda sparked my curiosity. I wanted to come bye and take a look at this place myself."
“Fair enough,” Aurum replied. If the man was curious, that was fine. Aurum was a little curious about the mansion, himself. He knew Shin lived here, and that this place housed the X-men group, whatever that was. It was certainly a unique living arrangement. All sorts of mutants probably came by to gawk.
Was this guy one of those gawkers? It wasn’t Aurum’s job to give out tours. Still, if the guy needed help, the least Aurum could do was point him in the right direction.
“Well, I don’t really know much about this place,” Aurum shot back. “But I know there’s a guy around here that usually helps new people out.” He shifted his eyes towards the school, then back to the man. He said he was new. Bingo. “I guess I could show you to my friend’s office… I think he has an office…” Aurum paused, considering what Shin had told him offhand on the job at the Full Circle. “He could probably help you more than I could.”
The man introduced himself. “Aurum,” he gave his name. “Well, if you’re interested in finding out more about the school, follow me, then. I guess I can help you out.” Aurum conjured a polite grin, and started walking towards the front doors of the mansion. If the man wanted to follow him, that was fine. If he didn’t, Aurum could complete his errand and leave. It wasn’t a huge deal.
((You can take us to the main doors in your next post, if you'd like. Aurum's going to walk in. You can follow him in. *Nod* I might bring Shin in, in a few posts.))
He looked up as the man said that he could take him inside. He didn't wanted to barge into the place but actually this is just as fine as anytime else. "Nice to meet you Aurum, that's a kind offer of you, i think ill accept it. Maybe if i can see that person you talking about i could decide if this place might be something for me."
Walking after you he put his hands back in the pockets of his jacket while looking around the mansion grounds while he was inside the gates now. The school actually looked on the first sight like any other normal place but who knows what kind of wonders it held inside. Smirking amused at the taught that he might see some interesting things here he followed the man too the main doors.
He looked at the other man again. "I actually just arrived in this country so perhaps i can find a suitable place to stay here too, but i guess it will depend from that guy you know then. Anyways thanks again for helping me get in. Without you i would probably be still standing there for quite some time. I can be pretty indecisive sometimes unless i actually am put in a situation." Chuckling he walks further and pushed open the main doors so they could go in.
Hopefully, Shin was around to help the guy out. If he wasn't... well, they'd make do. Maybe there were some forms somewhere, on some wall, near a door, in an office they could raid? He had no idea. Perish the thought. Who knew what they'd find in the offices of those Mansion people... Future uncertain, Aurum and Brian made their way to the school.
The doors to the mansion were huge. The inside, and the main hall... swank was definitely one word that could be used to describe them. Another good describer was 'rich'. Luxurious? A red carpet stretched across the floor, and a glass chandelier hung above it all. On the walls, pictures hung. Two large staircases stretched up to the second floor, on either side up ahead. Aurum looked around. For a moment, he forget he was with company.
Brian's comment brought him back.
"New to New York, then?" He supposed the Mansion was the place to go. As for all the thanks he was getting. "Don't mention it," Aurum replied. He glanced towards a nearby hallway. "I think his office might be down that way... guess I'll check."
On that note, Aurum started walking. Towards the end of the hallway, he found an office with a name plate on the door that said 'Shin'.
"..." There was nobody inside. Aurum slipped over to the desk, and opened a few drawers. He eyed keys, comics, Rubik's cubes, and everything else that shouldn't really have been in Shin's well-organized desk. "Uh." He looked back at Brian sheepishly. "Maybe this drawer?" On the final drawer, Aurum struck gold. He hauled out a few forms, and set them down on the desk for Brian. Aurum plopped down into Shin's desk, and put on his best 'Shin' impression. It was hard. Unbearably hard. You have no idea how hard it was. He crossed his legs, and steepled his fingers thoughtfully. "Have a seat and fill those out~"
Ugh. Tildes. Aurum turned, and slipped Shin's wallet out of his pocket, into the contents of one of Shin's mismanaged desk drawers. He made a mental note to kick the kid for keeping things in lousy order.
He Followed the guy trough the large doors and smiled as he found himself in a rather familiar main hall. Brian had been inside this building before but that was in a dream. He knew about this place thanks to one of the inhabitants and using his powers he managed to take a look at how the building looked at the inside. "Yeah, i originally came from Europe ... but America held more opportunities for me in my opinion." Shrugging he looked around again not trying to give away that he already saw the place from the inside out.
After a bit his guide stepped inside a office and he followed inside quickly before glancing at the name plate on the door. Shin ... Probably that was the name of the guy he knew. He looked a bit surprised as he walked in a not so tidy organised office. Looking around he noticed Aurum searching trough the desk of that shin until he eventually found some kind of form that he slid over to him. Picking up the forms he started to look them over before looking back at Aurum. "You sure that this is ok since he isn't here yet ?" He set down in the seat at the other side of the desk.
>>"Yeah, i originally came from Europe ... but America held more opportunities for me in my opinion."
"That's usually the way," Aurum commented as they moved along.
Once he'd found the forms, he'd given to Brian. Brian seemed hesitant to fill them out. Was it okay?
"It should be," Aurum replied with a smirk. This was Shin's job? This... was it? And... he got paid for this? There was really nothing to it. "Fill those out, listing your..." He snagged another copy from a drawer, and eyed it to make sure they were on the same literal page. "Power. Where you're from. And so on. When you're done, we'll just leave it in to 'In Box'."
Shin had to have an In-box, right? Something to tell him what needed processing, and what had been processed? Aurum looked around.
"..." Maybe Shin wouldn't mind if he double-underlined 'Urgent' on a Post-it note?
Shrugging Brian took up the form and placed it down on a empty spot on the desk before taking a pen that was laying around there too. "OK then if you say so ... lets see." While he listened to the other man talking and from several comments he made Brian realised he probably wasn't a mutant himself. Not really paying attention to that fact he turned back to the form and started to fill it in. He quickly went over the more casual information like his name and his place of origin.
After writing down Belgium in Europe he looked at the spot where he had to write down his powers. Scratching whit the pen against his chin a bit lost in thoughts he taught for a minute how he could best describe it. Eventually he went whit : Dream manipulation and sleep control. It was a more accurate way of naming his powers. Normally he referred to himself as a dream walker but for this occasion this would do perfectly.
After a bit he put the pen down and nodded. "This looks good, i think i filled everything in correctley." He handed the paper back to Aurum as he saw the guy looking around the office obviousley annoyed by the untidy shape it was in.
While Brian was working on filling out the form, Aurum busied himself with tidying. It was a strange feeling. All his work in kitchens over his lifetime had forced him to pick up the neatness habit. He felt compelled to pick up snack wrappers, put them in their trash bin places, and organize all the discrete details of Shinbo's office while he was out. Shin might come in later to find his things in order. Maybe he'd think he'd been robbed? But then, the person didn't take anything. They simply put things away.
Aurum slipped the last thing into its place, and admired his work. It looked much neater. Shin definitely needed a secretary. Maybe even a cute one...
>>"This looks good, i think i filled everything in correctley."
"Great," Aurum replied gladly. He plucked a post-it note, smacked it on top of the files, and wrote 'Urgent' across the yellow, underlining it twice. He didn't spare a look at the important details. Those weren't for him to peruse. He looked up at Brian again. "I'm sure Shin will find it soon, and get back to you. You left your number, right?" Shin would need that to call the kid back, if he needed to answer any further questions, or the man needed a room.
Aurum picked out another post-it note, and wrote across it 'Your wallet's in the drawer -- Aurum'.
"I guess that's all there is to it," He stated, rising from Shin's chair. He casually stuck the post-it note on the seat on his way towards the door. "I'm not sure what else I can help you with, here. My work's done. Maybe you could wander around, and meet some people? They might be able to give you a better tour than I could." Aurum smiled wryly. "I'm going, now. Good luck."
With that, he walked out the door, leaving Brian to his own devices. The guy seemed nice enough. Aurum didn't think the mansion would have any problems with him. He walked out the hall, and off the grounds. His next stop? Errands.
There was a lot to do.
((OOC: Aurum has exited the thread. I'll post with Shin soon. He'll wander in a minute later, and see you in his office. Cue scene))

Aurum hadn't thought there'd be any problems. As he was exiting the mansion, Shin was walking towards his own office, lunch hour expended. He came to an open door, and a strange person in one of his office chairs. The room was also tidy. Shin looked around, then returned his focus to the brown-haired man.
"Did you do this?" He asked. Because, if he had, Aurum's 'problem-free' prediction may have been off-the-mark.
The Japanese man stared with triangular pupils focused on the stranger, waiting for an answer.
Brian was left to his own as he politely said goodbye to Aurum as he left. He looked amused trough the office that in the time it took him to fill in that form it was tidied up rather nicely by him. "Ok thanks for the help anyways and who knows until we meet again." Smiling he stayed in the office for a bit while thinking what he should do. He had left his number indeed but should he go of wandering in the building ? Maybe he could see somebody else that could maybe show him around the place.
Stretching out and wanted to leave when somebody walked in. For a minute he taught that guy Aurum had forgotten something but then saw that the guy coming in wasn't him. The guy probably was this Shin guy guessing from his Japanese looks and his rather surprised reaction to the clean desk. "Euh no that's not my doing, some other guy was here and he did so." He gestured to the several post-it notes that Aurum left behind. "I came to check this place out since i heard from it from a few people. I was hoping to find a place to stay here. "He looked back at the man noticing the curious triangular pupils as he waited what he would say. Hopefully where the notes proof enough because he wasn't to keen on getting into trouble.

Not his doing. Shin would believe that when bats lived in caves. By which he of course meant ‘now’. Shin walked over to the desk, and glared down at the post-it notes. Wallet? Drawer? He had a drawer? Shin reached down and opened the drawer. Sure enough. Drawer. He took the wallet and flipped through it quickly. Shin’s eyes swung to the man as he held his wallet open. “So… Aurum was the one who made this mess?” He blinked.
Shin slipped the wallet back into his pocket, plopped in his office chair, and spun around to face the man, steepling his fingers. “I see.” And it seemed Aurum had helped him do his job. Or at least, he’d helped the person find this office, the appropriate forms, and told the guy to fill them out while he tore apart Shin’s office, and put things in order.
Shin reached ahead, and took the files from the stranger. “Let’s see what you have here…” He trailed.
A moment later, Shin looked up. “Well, everything seems to be in order. Did you need help getting a room, or signing up for classes? Did Aurum give you the tour…?” Or any other things Shin usually did? Had Aurum completely stolen his job while he’d been out eating chicken? Because that would be cool.
He smiled a bit as he shrugged seemingly amusing himself by the fact he seemed upset because his desk was in his opinion a mess. "Well yeah i was filling in those forms and Aurum decided to spend his time organising things. He left a few minutes ago actually so you probably just missed him. He said that he came to drop something from you off.
The guy looked over Brian's forms and he nodded "Well he only gave me those forms, he said he knew too little too give me a tour." He got up looking over. "My main issue is to get a decent place to stay but it would also be good to hear what my options here are since i haven't completely worked out what i will do. And a tour would also be nice."

So, Aurum was most certainly the culprit. How dare he organize Shin's things. That was like... like... something bad! And he'd just left, too? Shin would have to rag on him later for breaking into his unlocked office... but that was for a different conversation. He shifted his mindset back to the job of a mansion greeter: Greeting.
It looked like he'd be giving a tour after all.
"Well," Shin began. "As far as living arrangements go, you can stay here. We offer rooms to students, and anyone that needs sanctuary. I can set you up with a key to an adult room in a little bit. This place is big. I'm sure you'd like to be shown around before you get your room."
Shin filed the folder away, glancing over it quickly to take note of Brian's information. He dealt with dreams? That was cool.
Shin turned to the computer on his desk, and brought up the room information. A few taps later, he had one that was free. Shin moved to grab a key, and stood up. He slipped the key into his pocket.
