Wash Eat Sleep Call Mom and Dad The list was very short and simple, for a list she had been thinking about for over a month. In the end, the simplest things were the ones she needed the most. So she washed. She spent the better half of the morning in the shower, trying to soak dirt and bad memories away, and then the rest in the bathtub, where she fell asleep, and woke up when the water was cold. So back in the shower she went again, and then she wiped the mirror clean to stare at herself, for the first time since they came home. She counted bruises, and scratches, and injuries that she couldn't see, but she knew they were there. She ran her fingers through the mess that was her hair, or at least what was left of it. She cut it short on her own after the first week in the camps, because it was impossible to keep clean, and because the guards seemed to like it. Of course, no one could do a decent job with scissors that barely had any edge at all. She ate. Not because she felt like it, but because she knew she needed to. She lost quite a bit of weight in one month, and she needed her strength back, so she ate. She didn't really pay attention to what was on her plate. She slept. She slept a lot, in her first few days back in the Mansion, in the weirdest times, just because she could. She piled pillows and blankets on her bed, and she slept, on and off, mostly during the day. Sometimes she had nightmares. Most of the time, she didn't dream at all. She didn't call Mom and Dad. What would she say? I'm sorry I didn't call, I just spent a month in a concentration camp, yes, I am all right, don't worry... Of course she could have lied. She didn't feel like lying. Yet. She didn't see much of her friends - everyone was relieved to be home, and had a lot to deal with, and she didn't walk around the Mansion all thta much to begin with. She avoided Shawn without admitting it. There was nothing to talk about. She had been there, she came back, she was fine. She didn't loose an eye like Sam did, she didn't kill anyone, she didn't really get hurt either. She survived. There was nothing to complain about. There were many, many people who got away much worse than she did. Or didn't get away at all. Lily would have felt bad if she complained about all the minor things that happened to her in the camps. There was nothing she couldn't deal with. Nothing she couldn't not think about. She was fine. Time will take care of the rest. In the meantime, there was the list. So Lily went back to th shower.
