The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Teddy patted his sides like he was looking for pockets. Did this girl really expect him to have any sort of ID on him? He could hardly hold a pencil, never mind keeping a school ID on him. Come to think of it he couldn't remember getting an ID when he'd come to the school. These two just didn't seem to be getting it. The teddy bear just shook his head. This was going to be harder than he thought it was. No. Teddy wrote. Hopefully they understood that he was answering their questions as best he could. It was hard to write like this.
Change back? Are they crazy? Blondie here still wants to rip me to shreds, what's she gonna do if I change to human?I... am... a... human... who... can.. change... into... stuffed animals. I... don't... want... to... change... back... cause... she... scares... me. And of course by she Teddy meant Deathstar. Fade had been nice to him the entire time he'd been there and even stopped the other from slicing and dicing him. But he still found the situation scary. There was no reason for him to really trust her not to hurt him when he changed back. Besides if he did that he wouldn't be able to pull that off again, and neither of them would trust him; even thought they probably didn't trust him right now.
Deathstar stood above Fade when she read the non-legible writing of the bear, she silently read the note out loud for she wasn't able to decipher the stuffed intruder's handwriting. After finally getting a understanding of the Bear's note, she looked at the bear with a death stare trying to understand why he felt threatened by her. "I scare you?...." she yelled but cut herself off to control the anger that's still burning internally, "I promise I'll be good girl, really, I promise", she threw up a fake smile that you would on a crest commercial.
"I can't believe it, he comes into my room, pulls a stunt, and he's scared?", Deathstar shrugged her shoulders as she spoke in disbelief to Fade. She pulls and lock her hands together behind back in order to give off a I'm not going to tear you to shreds vibe."Now Mr. Bear, can you transform for us please, I really would like to see who I am talking too", she once again faked an innocent act to get the bear to transform, even though she wasn't going to let him off that easily.
After reading the note, well, piecing together enough of the sort-of letters to form words she thought they meant (it's hard for a mutant who can hardly read in the first place to read notes from a mutant without thumbs) Fade grabbed her stomach and mouth. The more and more she read the last part, the harder she clenched her mouth before it finally errupted and she burst out laughing. For a moment, she lost her ability to breathe from laughing so hard. The teddy didn't want to change back because Star scared him! "Deathstar! Feared by the fluffy ones!" she weezed, grabbing her stomach tighter. She could feel her abs tensing up.
"Yeah, but he didn't come into your room with a knife," she laughed, trying to regain her composure. Finally, she pulled herself together and listened to Deathstar's poor attempt at being sweet and un-scary. "Don't hold me to this teddy bear, but I'd say if you transform, you'd show her you're harmless. Unless you're like a giant bouncer under all that fluff. Maybe your human form might calm her down," she said, attempting to get him to transform back before Deathstar rammed her knife into him. Poor poor teddy. Could teddies wet themselves?
Heck ya you scar me. I’m a freakin’ teddy bear! The only thing I can do is look cute and cuddly. Ted thought as the mean girl started yelling at him. It didn’t matter what she said. Teddy was still scared of her. She needs to work on her acting a bit. Teddy thought as he wasn’t at all convinced that she still wouldn’t hurt him, once he was done changing back. It also didn’t mean that she wouldn’t make the rest of his life a living hell once she knew who he really was. Ted was, as he rightly should be, more concerned for his safety than for them. The red head seemed pretty understanding, but the violent girl seemed to just want things done her way.
The nice one was laughing uncontrollably at him… Well, there goes the nice one theory. All Teddy could do now was accept his fate. He’d messed up his little plan and enjoyment and now he was caught. The two older girls seemed to be like complete opposites. One was calm and collected and the other was like a loose cannon. The young boy was really starting to wish that he’d been caught by the calm one instead of the mean one. Maybe then he’d be less scared and more willing to change back. However, this wasn’t the case and the only way he would be getting out of this, hopefully, would be to do what they say. Ted didn’t figure that he would need to give them any warning before he changed back. He figured growing or any change for that matter would be warning enough.
Teddy set the pencil down and relaxed, as much as he could with the crazy one and the giggly one around him, so that he would be able to start the transformation. Ya know this goes against my better judgment. He immediately started to grow right before their eyes. He was still small by anyone’s standards but he was getting bigger by the second. While he was still growing the paws started to change to hands and feet. Teddy’s head started to become misshapen and take on the characteristics of a human head. More and more areas of his body were starting to look human. His fur started to lighten up and turn the color of his skin and clothes. Teddy was still afraid of what he would look up once he was done changing and see a knife to his throat and the mean girl about ready to slit his throat. Once the teddy bear had become fully human Ted got to his feet and ready to bolt out the door before Deathstar cut him a new windpipe. “Ta da?” The young mutant said a little scared, to them when he was finally done. He still didn’t really trust either of them but he hoped that they weren’t too mad at him to not laugh at a little attempt at humor.
Deathstar's eyes widened as she watched the fuzzy bear transform into a young adolescent boy. She cautiously walked closer to the mutant as if he was a NASA breakthrough experiment: however, she was still angry with the situation that took place earlier. When the transformation was complete, she quickly grabbed the young boy by his collar and pushed him up against the wall. "You think this is a joke?" she responded to the young boy's comment, she didn't like that he took the whole ordeal as a joke. "I will drain every ounce of life out of you, you jerk!", her eyes faded to black as she yelled angrily at the boy. Deathstar only used her mutant ability while in combat, but she was about to break her own rules to prove a point to the young one.
She forgot about Fade being in the same room as her, and hopefully the bear will benefit from Fade's presence. "I'm not a charity, so how dare you sneak into my room", Deathstar appeared to bring truth to the boy assumption of Deathstar, and she was not slowing down anytime soon. She clenched her fist tighter around the boys collar, fighting her urge to take out the young mutant, "whats your name?", she asked out of the blue.
The sight definitely changed things. The boy was too young to be shown this sort of stuff. Fade had been showed this world when she was much younger and it was not a very fun journey. She felt bad that Deathstar had threatened a knife on him. Now maybe that she saw how young he was, she would cut back some on the threats. But it only got worse. She grabbed him by the collar bone and slammed him against the wall.
"WOAH! NO! SHIT! GAH!" Fade exclaimed, her mouth gaping wide open. She rushed over to the scene and put her hand on Deathstar's shoulder, making sure she was touching clothing instead of skin. She really did not know how Star's powers worked but she knew she didn't want to get the butt end of it. Her grip tightened but she was ready to phase through any punch thrown at her. The fiesty blonde could throw a mean punch. "Deathstar! Stop this! Stop right now! Good Lord! Let go of him!" Teddy bears didn't have bladders, this one could actually pee his pants.
As soon as he was done changing he was thrown into a wall by his collar bones. “Ah!! What? No… I didn’t do this as a joke.” This seemed just as serious as when she held the knife up to him as a teddy bear. “I…I was just t-trying to be n-nice.” The kid was scared there was no question about that. Tears even started to well up in the boy’s eyes. Hopefully the other one would help him not die at the hands of this all-to-eager-to-be-violent person. Teddy was so scared at this point that he temporarily forgot his name. The young mutant just stammered uncontrollably for a few seconds before shutting up.
It sure was a good thing that he didn’t need to use the bathroom; otherwise he might have gone right there. “Yes please, listen to the nice one. Let me go. I don’t wanna die!” Teddy pleaded with the psycho girl. All the while Ted ignored the fact that his voice cracked a little from fear. This was way too intense for him. If he ever decided to do this again he’d have to make sure that it was someone that he knew. Or at least he would only do it to people he knew if he lived through this encounter.
Ignoring Fade's plea to release the mutant, Deathstar's grip around the boy's neck tightened when the boy fear became prevalent. She shrugged her shoulder to maneuver herself from Fade's grip on her shoulder, "Fade buzz off", she yelled out to the red-head. Deathstar hated when people try to calm her down, she always felt that they were making her out to be insane. "I don't like people making fun of me, and I don't like kids playing in my room", she belted out of frustration from the bear boy's ordeal, which angered Deathstar.
When the bear arrived in Deathstar's room she was in a very emotional state, dealing with her parents death, hellish relationship with her siblings, and her inability to love another took on her mentally. The boy's fear fed the anger as if she was releasing emotions she should have done a long time ago. Fade's mediation fell to deaf ears, and the boy who wanted to help Deathstar will have to think twice before he does that again. Deathstar pulled her face closer to the scared little boy as if she was looking for flaws in a vanity mirror, "You think this is funny don't you?, helping poor little Deathstar, the unstable Deathstar, the weak Deathstar,..whatever!", she yelled at the young boy with her eyes still black from the effects of her mutant ability. "If I here you speak about this from any of your friends, I will see to it myself that you a well taken care off", She whispered in the boy ear.
Deathstar exhales mimic the rage of a adolescent bull, she held her tight grip around the boy's neck like a viper handling prey. She looked over to Fade as if she was asking for help, and her black eyes began to swell with tears. She hated getting angry and upset, but she was more upset that she will be looked a differently from everyone else.
Well what was Fade supposed to do now? Deathstar shrugged off everything she said and ignored the young boy's pleads for help. Strength wise, Fade was not that muscular so she wouldn't be able to pull Deathstar off of the boy without hurting him in the process. The lucky thing was that in a fight, Fade could be untouchable, but that would also make Deathstar angry and then put the boy in danger. All of this because of a teddy bear?! She hated to see the poor fellow who tried to send her chocolates to cheer her up.
Fade's mind raced as she pieced together what she could do and finally she had an idea. Quickly, she phased through the wall behind the boy and focused as hard as she could. She turned and faced the wall again, right where the boy would be and walked forward. Every slight chill on her body told her when she phased through something. Since she was a bit taller than the boy, she had to bend her knees a little bit to find the boy's neck. When she had matched her neck up with the boy's, she turned less than a centimeter solid right around her neck and pushed her face through his. In the end, Fade's body was partially sticking out of the young boy's.
Her chest had extended past his and every inch that was safely out of the boy's body had been turned solid. Oh god, I hope this works, she mentally cursed herself for not coming up with a better idea. Literally standing in the boy's shoes, she saw Deathstar's eyes change to black and she shouted out to let Deathstar know she was now in the spot of the victim. "LAYLA! If you use your power, you'll hurt me, not him. Let go." Fade's voice was firm, even though Deathstar's grip on her throat was tight, she was still able to bellow. Using her arms, she phased out of the boy's body and began to tug on his arms, trying to pull him completely out of her so he would not get harmed. She had never known what it was like to be hit by a power half phased into another mutant, but she didn't think it would be good.
Things were not looking bright for this kid. His future was quickly shrinking to nothingness as Deathstar tightened her grip around the boy’s throat. Pretty soon the other girl disappeared from view. Just great. The one person who was interested in helping me just left the building. Now I’m officially in trouble. Teddy wasn’t noticing much now because he was trying to conserve any air that might still be remaining in his body; although something did catch his attention. His chest grew… well as it turned out it wasn’t his chest and he had a weird feeling of like a ghost passing through him. not exactly a cold feeling but it was more like a wind blew through his entire body and not just on his skin.
Suddenly a voice that wasn’t his appeared from just about the exact same area that his mouth was. It was the other girl, talking right where he was. Also Ted then noticed that the pressure around his neck had lessened to almost nothing. There was a strange tugging on his arm; almost like some invisible force was trying to pull him. Ted still had no idea what Deathstar’s powers were but if her name was any give away then he definitely didn’t want her to use them on him or on Fade. It didn't matter what was happening but he was going to get out of this situation and apparently Fade seemed to have a better idea of how to get out of it than he did. Teddy quickly moved as fast as he could out of the girl’s body. He wasn’t too sure if he should stick around, and believe it not he really did want to bolt. He didn’t want to leave the nice girl to a fate that should be his while he got away unscathed; however, Teddy hoped that if Deathstar saw it was her friend than maybe, just maybe Fade would be alright. Teddy was standing still inside Deathstar’s room, just in front of the door ready to bolt out of there and run as fast as he could if he needed to. And something told him that he’d need to.
Through the mist of rage, Deathstar couldn't contain herself any longer. She was going to hurt the young mutant despite the consequences she may face afterward. She was hurt, and was going to make the mutant feel her pain. Deathstar couldn't let the young mutant get away with knowing her true feelings about herself, so she figured the only way to keep him is to put him in a coma by absorbing his powers and life force.
During the attack on the mutant, Deathstar didn't notice Fade phase through the wall. Her concentration was solely on the infiltrating mutant, but then Deathstar saw a vision of Fade through her angry black eyes. Am I seeing things?, I must be going crazy, she thought to herself, her eyes faded back to her natural fiery ruby color in confusion. "Fade!", she yelled as she loosened her grip around Fade's neck, "what.....what is happening?" she said as she completely let go of Fade's throat backing up into the boy. Deathstar did a double take from Fade to the boy, "Is this another one of your mutant abilities?, are you playing with my mind?" , she asked the boy while she grabbed both ears trying to figure out what exactly happened. She turned her attention to Fade and fell to knees burying her face into her palms in tears. She was scared that she might be crazy like her immediate family. "Do you think I'm crazy?", she asked out in the open as she continued to cry.
Luckily, the boy got the hint and he moved out of her body. It was always odd to feel something passing through her body instead of her passing through an object. He didn't run, what a brave boy. After an attack like that by a fellow Mansion resident, you would think he'd take off leaving a trail of fluff behind him. There were a few reasons why he would stay: 1. To see a fight. 2. To make sure Fade was ok. 3. Because he was too scared to move. Fade hoped it was the second choice. Being in the boy's shoes was much more frightening than she had anticipated. She had seen Deathstar angry before, but not at her. The black eyes bore into Fade's courage, tearing it to shreds. If Deathstar didn't settle down, she would have to phase through the wall again before her friend's powers kept her from doing so.
Just as she prepared herself to escape, Star's eyes blinked back to their normal color and she tuned into what was really happening. Her grip on Fade released and the redhead grabbed her throat and coughed a few times, pumping oxygen through to her deprived lungs. Deathstar backed up into the boy and grabbed him again, but not too violently. It seemed her rage had taken over and she had no clue what happened. She accused the boy of using another power of his to control her mind. "It was my power, not his. You know I can phase through anything, I took his place, you were going to kill him," she said, admitting that she had a part in the confusion.
Deathstar fell to the ground and started crying. Her family history seemed to be a little towards the evil side, but it didn't mean Deathstar fell in that category. Fade's cousins were Amp and Vibe, everyone had some evil in their blood. Then again, Fade didn't know too much about Star's life, Layla always hid that very well. "I think we're all crazy. The real question is: do you have the control to stop? And you stopped. You're not that crazy," she comforted her friend, kneeling down next to her. She placed her hand on Layla's shoulder blade but she wasn't sure just how much contact Layla wanted at the moment. "I mean, I have to be crazy to voluntarily be chocked by you," she laughed, trying to erase the memory of Deathstar's black eyes. Quickly, she glanced to the boy to make sure he was OK.
