The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Watching the golden workings of the true healer Carrick awed in amazement as the show of Koga’s skin healing quickly played out. Stopping at a certain point Doc sighed and spoke to Carrick, who had finally taken in the rest of the view, he had heard Tetsuya cursing and although he would have loved to explain the Irish phrase for that he was more worried about Koga and Kat. It seemed even Tetsuya was feeling the effects of what ever was going on.
What ever happened to them must have happened before he and Doc was there because he wasn’t feeling the same was as everyone, a little lightheaded and his hands tingled but he figured that was from either the greased burger he had earlier or it was the run to and from Doc’s place.
Watching the Doc stand and sway for a second then shook his head and walking away Carrick grinned slightly and called off to the old man, ”I’ll take one now before you go so you know you don’t have to give me one later…” Doc was already turning the corner and ignoring Carrick, ”Bollix!” muttered the winged messenger as he walked closer to Koga and Kat who were both on the ground.
”Look a right side better than you did before!” Carrick smiled as he leaned over Koga, ”Welcome to the club, we have jackets and fans!” he didn’t know if Koga could hear him but he thought it was something that needed to be said.
Opening his wings and then closing them Carrick bent over and poked one of the reptilian spines with the curiosity of a cat. His tail flicked this way and that behind him as his finger pressed against it then pulled away. ”Cool!” after further examination of the new improvements on Koga’s body Carrick looked over to a collapsed Kat and then Tetsuya.
”Your not gonna puke are ya?” he asked the Asian shard mancer before walking around Koga to Kat’s side. Bending over and reaching to her shoulders Carrick turned her so she was now lying down on her back and then he proceeded to back up. ”Well this turned out to be an interesting day…” Carrick muttered to himself more than anyone else.
Their voices sounded muffled, as if she was listening through a wall of water. She could tell that Koga's screams had stopped. That was good. It meant that what she was trying to do was working.
Katrina continued to focus on nothing; Koga and nothing. She had to keep him in her thoughts to make sure the lack of feeling didn't spill over to the others in the hallway, at least not too much. It helped also to ignore what little sensory input was making its way through her blanket of numb.
DocProf's voice, though she wasn't listening to what he was saying, sounded reassuring. Carrick spoke, too, and he sounded like he was back to his normal sarcastic self.
Katrina's void went from dark to light as someone flipped her from face down in the carpet to lying on her back facing the lights on the ceiling. Her brow was creased in concentration. She wasn't unconscious, she was trying hard not to be distracted so she wouldn't slip up and let the hurt course through Koga's nerves again. If that meant that she had to experience her own illusion of non feeling too, that was a small price to pay for her frien... for Koga's comfort.

>>+“You are sounding a bit like someone who doesn’t understand what it is to be a mutant my boy.”
Shin glared. His friend was in pain. That wasn't the kind of response one wanted when asking whether or not something could be done. Yes or no. Yes or no. Not 'You don't understand'. He did. An exasperated sigh escaped him at DocProf's next comment.
"Fine. Just do what you can..." He fell silent as the golden light covered Koga. That was better. Like Evolution in Pokemon. Koga evolves into 'thank you, i feel so much better'mon.
Shin nodded at DocProf's words. "That's okay. Thank you..." He replied, tiredly. Worrying about friends was exhausting.
DocProf's final comment bothered him, but Shin didn't say a word.
Not done shaping... There was more where this came from? If there was, he didn't want to see Koga deal with it. Getting more reptilian didn't help with being a teen.
Shin rolled his legs and sat down, pretzel-style. He'd been kneeling this whole time, and that was tiring. His eyes moved from Koga to Katrina. For the moment, he ignored Carrick. He knew what was wrong with Koga, but Katrina was a mystery.
"Hey, Katrina... you okay?"
>>”Your not gonna puke are ya?”
Shin's head turned towards Carrick. "Don't be ridiculous..."
He bowed his head as Carrick flipped Katrina, then scooted forward closer to her.
"Katrina," he tried again. "Wake up. Koga's fine..."
He must be asleep, maybe he feinted…well that was just great, way to look like a pansy in front of Kat. Gah! But hey at least it was nice in here. If he was asleep right now he wondered momentarily why it was he never remembered this part of being asleep, and if he would remember this time. Probably not. He felt warm for a moment all the way to the core, it was pretty refreshing, ever since his blood decided to do the whole cold until heated thing, he just really didn’t feel the same, but oh well, and this oblivion was comfy. His mind rallied as his body was healed but the illusion was so thorough that he still didn’t even have a clue as to what was actually happening.
The sound of her name on Shin's lips cut through her cocoon of nothingness and her concentration wavered. With her eyes still closed, Katrina frowned slightly and moaned as she tried to get the numb feeling out of her lips long enough to talk.
“M'm okay. M'm trying to help Koga,” she mumbled. She was afraid if she stopped concentrating the pain would come back to him.
“Gotta sleep for awhile longer, just in case.” Was Koga stirring or was that her imagination? Katrina resumed ignoring the whole world except for her memory of the void and her thoughts of Koga. Nothing else was important right now.
Carrick smirked slightly in Shin’s direction, ”Well you looked like you were for a moment or two…” Carrick shrugged and turned his attention back towards Kat and Koga who were now facing up sound asleep or at least what he thought was sleep well a half sleep, a sleep that forced Kat to frown her eyebrows. Tilting his head to the side he moved in closer as Kat spoke in a muffled voice.
He leaned back and stretched his back out and then eyed the pair of teens his age lying stiff as the dead. He smirked slightly guessing that Kat was doing all she could to make sure Koga didn’t have to hurt anymore than he was. Scratching the back of his head feeling a certain unfamiliar feeling Carrick couldn’t place what exactly what he was feeling.
Multi-colored eyes trailed to Koga and then back to the look of concentration on Kat’s face and then he realized what the feeling was. He was jealous, he shook his head and then looked away trying to force the feeling away. He wasn’t jealous of Koga’s new ability, if anything he pegged the feeling of jealousy on Kat, her concentration and worry for her friend said a lot about her and her friendship with Koga, something he never really had. He had friends lots of them but none as far as he could tell that would do what she was doing for Koga.
”Should we move them?” Carrick asked his tail scrapping the ground reflecting his current feelings. Carrick moved closer as Shin walked over to Koga and then lifted him and walked off to his room Carrick nodded and copied him only reaching down and scooping Katrina the best he could. She was bigger then him height wise but he had the weight and the wings and the tail helped with the balance. Tail straight out behind him and his wings mimicking his tail Carrick scooped one hand under Kat’s back and the other behind the bend in her knees.
As he straightened his posture and took a step forward he exhaled a gust of air, ”Light as a feather!” muttered Carrick as a feather of his own fell from his wings and swayed in midair as it slowly lowered. Carrick inhaled then started to follow Shin back to his room as quickly as possible. Following the sock killer Carrick looked down at Kat’s face and frowned slightly wondering if he would ever have a friendship like the one Kat and Koga had.

>>”Should we move them?”
"Yeah..." Shin replied pensively. "I guess we can move them to my room." It would do no good leaving Koga and Katrina spread out over the hall. Shin walked over, and picked up Koga as gently as he could. He nodded at Carrick when the winged boy did likewise with Katrina. Shin led Carrick up the bumpy stairs, and to his room.
He set Koga down, and unlocked the door. Then, Shin picked the lizard up again, and dragged him over to his bed. He lay Koga down.
"In here," Shin called to Carrick. He scrambled over to a closet, and hauled out some blankets. He spread the red blankets across the floor, and added a pillow. "Lay Katrina down here." Hopefully, she woke up soon. Until then, all they could do was sit around in his room and wait. Shin pulled a bean bag up, and sat in it. He glanced at the television for a moment, then reached out to grab a volume of Detective Conan from his shelf.
Shin's room was nice. It had a bed, a mini fridge, an adjoining bathroom, and a television. A few posters of anime characters were spread out across the walls. Yusuke, from Yu Yu Hakusho, Tuxedo Mask, from Sailor Moon, Charles Barkley from some basketball team or another... a bookshelf full of manga sat to the left of the television stand, in all its extensive glory. A laptop sat folded on a table in the corner, near some chairs. The blinds were up, and the room was dim, lit only by a single overhead light. Shin pulled a string, and lit a lamp by the bean bag. He curled up to read.
His body lingered in the comfort of the void as his friend carried him up the stairs. and to his room, if he was conscious or even the slightest bit aware he would have told them to put Kat on the bed and him on the floor. Honestly!
He worked his jaw as the taste of his on blood was on his now split tongue, it wiggled in his mouth as he worked his jaw, the two points poked the spots that were bare and waiting for new teeth to come in. The doc had managed to heal the wounds buut his body insisted on being sore anyway. He wondered if it was psychological. or if his body was still angry at him.
his hands went to his elbows and tested the spikes that were growing there.
Koga's eyes fluttered open with all four lids, it was a bit disconcerting. He set up and wobbled on Shin's bed. eyes squinting from all four sides. "It'sss bright in here, what just happened?" He said rubbing the side of the head where he landed previously.
Katrina had never done anything quite like this with her powers before. Taking away sensations rather than giving someone false sensations was strange, but it seemed to be working. At least, through the muffled half-nothing she couldn't hear Koga's suffering any more. That was a good thing. She just hoped she could hold out as long as Koga needed her.
She kept the illusion of the void going as long as she could, but since she had little practice with single recipient illusions and even less with ones that deprived the senses, it didn't seem like a very long time at all. She could tell when she was reaching the end of her energy when, despite laying down and having her eyes closed, she began to feel dizzy and light headed.
Sorry Koga, that's the best I can do, she thought as she released him from the illusion.
Her own eyes fluttered open again. It was dark, much too dark to still be in the hallway. It reminded her of the pitch black of the sewers. Moving slowly so she didn't hit anything, she sat up.
“Where did everyone go?” Her own voice sounded odd, as if someone had shoved a half dozen cotton balls in her ears while she was asleep. She couldn't hear it well, but she thought she heard a muffled response for very far away.
“It's not funny, where did you guys go?” She groped the floor in the dark, trying to feel where she was. It was like trying to feel for texture while wearing a thick pair of mittens. Was that soft carpet or something else she was feeling?
Multicolored eyes traveled the room after he set Katrina down where Shin had indicated, even though he had released Katrina he didn’t move far from her side and if she started to stir to life he would be there to greet her with a smile and a sarcastic comment of some kind what the comment was he wasn’t quite sure but like all other ones it would come to him. Looking from poster to comic book he smirked when his eyes landed on Tetsuya, defiantly the makings of a split personality, thought Carrick as he eyed the basketball poster then the collection of Yu Yu Hakasho chapters.
Standing up and debating snagging one of the issues Carrick took a step forward then turned quickly to hear the stirring of one of the sleepers come around, to his delight the first one to wake up was Koga. The reptilian claded boy seemed to be doing far better than he was before, which meant what ever he was going through wasn’t deadly, other wise he would have been… well… dead.
Carrick smirked when Koga asked what happened and eyed his new alterations to his already different body. ”Well, from what it looks like… you just hit puberty went through that a few years me’ self sprouted a tail and everything…” looking to Shin Carrick continued, ”His skin looks like those gata’s from those lotion commercials, you wouldn’t happen to have any lying around would ya?”
Turning his head and nodding to Kat he continued, ”Sleeping beauty has been out for a while, went out the same time you did…” even though it might have been the best time to joke about the situation Carrick started to laugh and moved a strand of hair for Katrina’s face remembering the story of sleeping beauty his mother told him when he was a bit younger he was always fascinated with the theme of the prince vanquishing evil to protect the princess, ”Maybe she is under a spell and needs a kiss from prince charming to wake up?” Carrick looked to Koga then back to Kat then proceeded to lean over her only to stop short when he pursed his lips for a kiss.
Leaning over her Carrick smiled and pulled back grinning, ”You best wake her up!” Carrick said as he poked her in the arm trying to wake her up that way, if she wouldn’t make maybe she really did need a kiss from prince charming, unfortunately for Kat the young winged one was no prince court jester maybe.

>>"It'sss bright in here, what just happened?"
The volume of Detective Conan snapped shut. Koga was awake. Shin sat up, and leaned forward to look at him. He still looked lizardy. Carrick’s comment had pretty much covered all of that. But he was awake, and that was good. He glanced towards Katrina. She was still napping. Ah, well. It was a start.
>>”His skin looks like those gata’s from those lotion commercials, you wouldn’t happen to have any lying around would ya?”
Shin arched an eyebrow. “Lotion? Uh… do you… want lotion, Koga?” He didn’t get how that was relevant, but if he needed it, he needed it. Shin’s eyes returned to Kat when Carrick pointed her out. He sighed. “It was strange. Maybe, she was trying to help in some way?” Shin suggested. He still didn’t know Katrina’s power. Or maybe, she’d just been worried sick.
The other brow arched to join the first as Carrick continued the ‘sleeping beauty’ joke a bit too far. Shin had half a mind to bop him. He settled for slapping his own face. “She’ll wake when she wakes… don’t rush her—” He was cut off by Katrina’s stirring.
>>“Where did everyone go?”
“We’re right here. Kat? You oka—”
>>“It's not funny, where did you guys go?”
“… I don’t think she heard me… Kat?”
>>“Guys?”
“Uh… help?” He had no idea what to do. Maybe Koga or Carrick knew better?
Koga still seemed a bit dazed, as if he wasn’t quite awake. He smacked his mouth quietly as if testing if his mouth was dry, it wasn’t in fact it still had a coppery taste to it.
~~”Well, from what it looks like… you just hit puberty went through that a few years me’ self sprouted a tail and everything…”
“yeah, itsss going on four yearsss now.”
~~”His skin looks like those gata’s from those lotion commercials, you wouldn’t happen to have any lying around would ya?”
“Hey!”
**“Lotion? Uh… do you… want lotion, Koga?”
“no I don’t want lotion, thanksss.”
~~”Sleeping beauty has been out for a while, went out the same time you did…”
**“It was strange. Maybe, she was trying to help in some way?”
~~“Maybe she is under a spell and needs a kiss from prince charming to wake up?”
~~”You best wake her up!”
It was lucky for Carrick that Koga’s hand landed ona throw pillow before it landed on something more significant in weight. The pillow went spinning across the room to smack the other boy square in the face.
**“She’ll wake when she wakes… don’t rush her—”
>>“Where did everyone go?”
**“We’re right here. Kat? You oka—”
>>“It's not funny, where did you guys go?”
**“… I don’t think she heard me… Kat?”
>>“Guys?”
**“Uh… help?”
Koga slid his legs off the bed and squat next to Katrina. He reached for her hand grasping it and squeezing a bit. “Were here kat. Come out of the darkness. “ He removed his head phones and slung them around Kats neck. Slowly turning up the volume. If she was where she had put him it was in a lack of everything a void of all senses. If this didn’t work he was going to pinch her. If she was stuck like this because she was saving him, he’d never forgive himself.
Darkness was something she was familiar with, silence, likewise was something she was familiar with. It was the lack of feeling that was the most disconcerting. She knew she was touching the floor, but she couldn't feel it beneath her knees or her hands, at least, not very well. She couldn't think of anything or anyone that could do this to her, except... it was an awful lot like being halfway stuck in the void. Had her nullifying illusion backfired on her? Was this going to be permanent?
She really hoped not.
She tried to get her barrings by feeling out where she was. It was still the best way to get a sense of her surroundings. There was the floor; it was downward and didn't move when she pushed on it. That was the easy part. Her hands were useless at feeling textures, but they could tell when they ran into something that was not floor. Kind of. At least, she thought she found something.
It was... a person? Or maybe a bed. It was difficult to say when her only sense was the inability to keep crawling forward. Frustrated, she sat back on her feet. Really, it was useless to move when she could barely tell where she was.
Then, from somewhere, she heard a humming sound. She tilted her head. What was that?
“Music?”
It got clearer and clearer until she thought she could almost hear the words.
And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality, all alone in desperation, now the time has gone.
Leaning back but still catching the pillow in the face Carrick let out a quick laugh before catching the pillow before it fell off his own face and landed on Kat, ”Struck a nerve did I?” Carrick asked curiously making sure to keep an eye on said nerve for future teasing use. They were defiantly close friends but it was possible they were a little more than just close friends, which would make the reason Katrina was willing to go into a trance like this to keep Koga from hurting make a lot more sense, he defiantly didn’t have a lot of friends willing to do this for him a fact that made the smiling Carrick stop smiling.
When Katrina started to mutter Carrick moved in a bit closer to make sure she was alright and let her know that someone was by her side but when Koga jumped off the bed and grabbed her hand Carrick figured it was best if he moved back a little bit. Standing up and moving away from the two Carrick stretched his arms and then placed them on his head as he eyed Koga doing his best to pull Katrina from her slumber. ”Might be faster with a kiss…” Carrick said offhandedly as he looked towards Shin then back to sleeping beauty and her prince.
If Carrick was capable of shifting colors he would have turned as green as Koga was right now, jealousy started to overwhelm him till his train of thought shifted to a bird flying by the window. Shaking his head slightly he decided it was a good day to fly and there was no reason to be jealous, he would find friends like that in due time.
Watching and waiting he eyed Koga and Kat waiting for Katrina to come around out of her slumber.

Koga really was something... one syllable of worry out of Shin's mouth, and he was on it like a paladin on the noble and divine path of Justice. He crouched near her, and lured her out of the darkness, into the light.
>>”Might be faster with a kiss…”
Shin shot Carrick a dirty look. "Knights in shining armor don't kiss..." Or at least, they don't steal kisses. Shin moved closer to Katrina, and spoke loudly.
"Can. You. Hear. Me?" Maybe she'd gone deaf and blind? He looked to Koga, nervously.
