The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Because… I… uhm, I hurt my ankle.” Lily raised an eyebrow. Alex hurt her ankle. Riiight. Because it didn't at all sound like something out of a romance novel. Just what the heck was going on in the middle of the whole mission?! Back to the conversation. Lily sipped her cocktail again and hoped she wouldn't have to order a second one when Alex finished, because it looked like she would finish real soon. "Whoa. Sounds like Sam's getting really protective about you." she smirked. I could live with that. All right, I probably couldn't, but at least it's nice to have someone who gets this pissed about being touched... um, carried by another guy. She decided not to share these thoughts with Alex. She still looked mighty upset.
Protective. Pfft. Alexandra snorted as soon as the word left Lily’s mouth. “Riiight. Protective.” A hand extended to grab the glass again. Damn it, did that glass and her hand had some magnetic attraction going on or what? Or maybe with her lips? The molecule manipulator glared at the glass with an accusing look before taking it to her lips once again.
This time she did empty the glass. … how long did the contents of the glass survive? A minute? Two? Alexandra started to be concerned… but the feeling she was getting was more enjoyable with every second and concern was pushed far away, in a dark corner of her mind. Also, locked there. “You know, Lily, a guy is protective when there really is something that endangers the relationship is going on. Not my case.” Alexandra gave Lily a small nod as she eyed the waitress stopping a few tables away from them. “Were your boyfriends protective like that?” Blue eyes trailed to Lily as she spoke, a quizzical look in them. Plus, an arched eyebrow.
The waitress moved and the movement caught Alexandra’s eyes. “Hey. I’d like another Lost Paradise, please.” She asked as soon as the girl was passing by their table. “Of course, miss.” The girl turned around, looking at Lily as she wrote down the order. “Would you like something else miss?” Laughing slightly, Alexandra eyed the almost full glass of Hurricane.
“You know, Lily, a guy is protective when there really is something that endangers the relationship is going on. Not my case.”
Lily sipped her drink. "You have a point there" she admitted "But that's girls' logic, you know. With the amount of empathy guys have, I doubt they can tell the difference."
“Were your boyfriends protective like that?” That made her cheeks turn pink again and she looked away. The plural form bothered her a bit. To tell the truth, the singular would have too. She shook her head - "No thanks I'm good" - and waited till the waitress walked away before picking up the conversation. Alex was drinking much faster that she did. Lily had no experience about getting drunk, but she could tell it was happening to Alex. Or will be, very soon.
"Um. I... haven't really had a boyfriend. Yet." There, she said it.
No boyfriend? At all? Lily received a half confused, half surprised stare from Alexandra, although the molecule manipulator herself wasn’t certain why was she confused or surprised. Because Lily didn’t have a boyfriend until now or because she didn’t have one now. Cause at the wedding… she caught a glimpse of her and Streak being pretty close.
An eyebrow arched slightly. Normally, she wouldn’t have asked any questions but since Alexandra was starting to depart slowly but steadily from her normal self…
“But I thought you and Streak were…err, you know. She stopped, shifting her eyes from side to side before looking back at Lily.
“But I thought you and Streak were…err, you know."
Lily's cheeks continued to blush with a visible speed, hurrying to match the color of her drink. Trying to avoid giving an answer just yet, she picked up her glass and took a few decent gulps from it before coming up for air. Sigh.
"Well, um... no, not really. I mean, we..." she glanced at Alex, who was much less sober than she was, and looked very curious. "... I honestly don't know."
She honestly didn't. Lily usually opened up quickly, especially to other girls, especially on the rare occasion if alcohol was involved. She had no doubt about wether or not she could trust Alex... she just didn't know.
"It's... complicated."
How very truly original. Lily returned to stirring the Hurricane. At least what was left of it.
So… apparently mentioning Streak’s name turned Lily’s cheeks red. Also, made her move on from tasting the Hurricane to actually drinking it. Sooo, what exactly was going on? Alexandra smirked at Lily, blue eyes sparkling with interest.
"It's... complicated."
Complicated. An eyebrow arched. “Complicated… in what way?” A glass filled with the peachy colored liquid of the lost paradise made it’s appearance, resting on top of a silver tray carried by the young waitress. “Your Lost Paradise, miss.” Alexandra snorted. Her lost paradise. Right. Nodding at the waitress as the girl placed the glass in front of her, she looked back at Lily curiously.
A hand reached for the glass. Definitely some magnetic attraction was going on.
Lily arched an eyebrow at Alex. When did this conversation turn around to her boyfriends?... (or, rather, the lack of them). Sometimes when girls were upset about their love life they wanted to hear about the others'. So they could relate. Or cheer up knowing they were still better off. With a little bit of luck, this could work both ways. Lily sipped her drink, and grinned at Alex. "I'll tell if you tell, deal?" Right. So. Why was it complicated, again? "Um. One. We went downtown to party a couple of weeks ago, we got attacked in the park, Shawn got shot, I got beaten up, we spent the night at the Infirmary, and in the morning we kissed." she summed up "I am just not sure if kissing after a near-death experience counts at all." Another sip of Hurricane. "Your turn."
Alexandra took a sip of her brand new glass of Lost Paradise. Lips were pursed together as the glass departed from her lips, blue eyes were focused on Lily. The molecule manipulator laughed slightly. “A kiss is a kiss. Didn’t the two of you talked about this?” Scratch chin. Hand returns to the glass.
”Your turn.”
Frown, gulp, frown.
Alexandra batted her eyelashes rapidly, giving Lily a blank stare. “But I already told you what happened to me.” Innocent blink. Pout.
“A kiss is a kiss. Didn’t the two of you talked about this?” Lily shrugged and sipped her drink through the straw, watching as the pink line climbed up inside. She glanced at Alex. It was her turn to talk. Even though she looked much more interested in her Lost Paradise than in talking about what the problem was. “But I already told you what happened to me.” Lily grinned and shook her head, fake-brown tresses flying left and right. How did they get out of the bun?... Never mind. "No fair!" she chuckled "Come on, Alex, you started it. 'fess up. Talk."
Alexandra took a sip of her Lost Paradise, giving another innocent blink. “Well, seriously, I told you what happened.” Shrug. “I ran into Kaz in the hallway and we were both sick of staying locked up inside the hotel.” Sigh. She was telling the truth, just hiding a few details. “So we went out… I hurt my ankle and Kaz needed to carry me to the hotel.”
Sip.
“Sam saw us. He… thought that I was planning on cheating on him. Right in the room next to his.” The molecule manipulator closed her eyes. Immature, Sam called her. Who was being immature in this situation? Blue eyes opened once again as she placed one elbow on the table, her expression changing into a frown. “And I already told you the rest.”
Lily was panning on sipping her drink some more to win some thinking time, but unfortunately nothing came through the straw. Peeking into the glass she noticed that it was empty, except for some ice cubes. She put the ex-cocktail down with a sigh.
"Sooo, you are telling me you just stormed out and the two of them are still upstairs staring each other down?..."
She had to smile at the idea. It was better than thinking about what else they could be doing. She hoped one of her team would notice in time if things got out of hand.
"Sooo, you are telling me you just stormed out and the two of them are still upstairs staring each other down?..."
Errr… She hadn’t quite think of that when she had left. A part of her was concerned on what happened after she left. Cause, you know, Sam wasn’t exactly nice with Kaz and Kaz, as far as she knew him, wasn’t a man who took lightly the words that were thrown at him.
Another sip of her little lost paradise made melted the concerns away. One thing was sure. Alcohol did numb her senses. Alexandra shrugged at Lily. “I don’t know if they’re still standing staring at each other. By now, Kaz might have ripped Sam’s tongue out…” Alexandra laughed as she leaned closer. “Sam called him Elf.” Chuckling, she leaned back on her seat.
Lily was not used to drinking, at least not at this pace. She felt a bit light-headed. Nothing she couldn't control, of course. But it might have explained why she didn't feel like going back to the hotel to check on the guys. It also explained her grin at the 'elf' comment. "Suits him." What if they do get into a fight? Beating each other up - powers or no powers - is not exactly low profile. Kaz can get out of control, she already knew that much. Showoff. As for Sam... he's the team leader, he should be smarter than that. Normally. Of course, when it comes to women... Poor Shawn. Lily examined her glass for another second before glancing around and signaling to the waitress with an elegant motion that she wanted another drink. What the heck. Turning back to Alex, she smiled a tiny smile of possible conspiracy. "Admit it, it is flattering that two guys like Sam and Kaz get into a fight over you. Isn't it."
"Admit it, it is flattering that two guys like Sam and Kaz get into a fight over you. Isn't it."
Blink. Blink. Blink.
Whoa! Get into a fight for her? She was just kidding. Blink again. “Errr… ” Nope, words weren’t coming out of her mouth. So she took another sip of her lost paradise, gulp, then cleared her throat. “Fight over me…? Kaz did defend me when Sam accused me but… errr. Fight over me…” Alexandra shook her head slightly.
Lily had no idea how it would feel like to have two guys fight over her. It was just a blind shot. She could tell she did hit... something with it, from the way Alex blinked. And denied. And turned the question around. “So. What about you and Shawn?” Shrugging is very rude, not fit for a lady, and should be avoided during decent conversation any time. Lily shrugged. "Nothing about us. He is kind. And friendly. And with our powers, I guess it goes without saying that I like being around him... but it's..." The second Hurricane just arrived in time to save the day. "... never mind." she smiled. Sip.
