Raina was still fairly weak when she traced the ice back to it's source. "It is Iris." she said out loud. Doc had done amazing healing for her, and even restored some of her stanima but Raina was still feeling weak. She stood still and observed the ice feeling the chill in the air as a breeze that shouldn't have existed rippled through the mansion.

Everyone was struggling with the ice- but Raina tuned them out quietly listening. The ice moved like it was alive, like it wasn't solid but a freezing liquid. She imagined herself back home, on the ice drifts, caught in a storm. Her breath came out in little wisps. The ice formed a circle around her entrapping her in a sense- but yet... it didn't touch her.

"This may be my chance to do something other but get bashed around..." now Raina, wasn't the strongest mutant, nor the fastest, and without her chantment she was really quite useless.... but something was different right now. Raina was in her ellement. The ice already existed, and Raina didn't have to call it out of the air.

She decided to test her theory and sang a quiet yet shrill note. The ice around her feet shifted and morphed pushing back as if in fear. Raina tried to think again. Iris's abilties had to do with stones or something didn't they? She couldn't really remember from their brief talks. But perhaps there was a link afterall.

Raina let out another note, and another. The ice began to pull away as she made her way across the floor- leaving a dry path. Raina became conscious of the calamity around her. She surveyed the room and then raised her voice, "If you can hear me, listen! I can weaken the ice! When I start to sing, you need to choose then to attack it! We can fight it back people!"

It wasn't like Raina to take charge of anything, but she felt revitalized in her ellement and as the first few notes dripped from her mouth all the noises of battle were drowned out by their beauty. The notes hung in the air with an aire of purpose. The ice moved as if in pain, writhering and flexing. It looked wet. Raina continued to sing and walk in a steady pace around the room. Oddly enough, she didn't feel that tired, and she wasn't expelling that much energy. Just enough to be consistant.

As the Ice began to writher... Raina made eye contact with as many others as she could, and then let out a piercingly high note in hopes they'd make their attack.


ooc: so this isn't by any means about to solve our ice problem but it makes a good base for team work!

Michael watched in amazement as the fire girl blasted the ice back, along with a good sized chunk of the mansion, but the ice soon pushed back. When he saw Raina come back he headed towards her, watching her use her power to weaken the ice.

The plan seemed to be Raina would weaken it then everyone else attack, but as his power wasn’t offensive he moved next to Raina. “You all deal with the ice, I’ll defend Raina.” It wasn’t much of a plan, but he’d put himself between her and anything aimed at her.

Raina gave Micheal a look that said "thank-you" since she couldn't say it herself. She continued to sing.

As Nicki watched Raina start to fight back the elements, she started to think about what she could do. How could she really help put all of this to an end?

Nicki looked within the ice, trying to find a visual on Iris: there was none that she could see. Nicki closed her eyes and focused on trying to find that thought pattern she had picked up earlier in the day: that scared powerful thought pattern. It wasn't hard to find the fear.

Nicki wasn't particularly aware of Iris' abilities, in fact if it wasn't for so many people saying the girls name Nicki doubted she would have even had that information, but Nicki could clearly see that her powers were moving all across the board...maybe one of them could let this girl hear Nicki.

::Iris please:: Nicki thought ::Iris I need you to stop and listen to me. You're among friends. Where ever you were before, whatever they did to you, it's over. You're at the mansion. You're attacking people you know, who care about you. Please, just calm down::

As Nicki sent out her message, she tried to pick up anything coming back at her. ..unfortunately, the only thing Nicki could tell for sure was that Iris was very afraid.

Shawn took the advice from Raina because it seemed to be the only plan and it also seemed to be working on the ice. While she as singing he went after the ice and started to attack it with all his might. The ice was still fighting back; however, since Raina started singing, the ice didn't seem as strong as it was before she was here. "Hey it seems to be working a little." Shawn said to them hoping they would hear him. Just then a block of ice that he didn't see. It then knocked him across hall and through a wall.

Mettaliar was halted by a large cage of ice. CRAP! he screamed to himself in his mind. He was not really scared of the wall itself. Instead it was the fact that the girl he was carrying and trying to save was the cause of it. He wanted to say something to her, yet he knew it wouldn't help. He knelt down and waited for the the ice to attack. He waited for the ice to strike, only hearing a few voices behind him. He decided to say one thing out of fear.

"Iris, if any sanity is left in you... please. I'm trying to help you. Don't continue this... just let me help you." His voice cracked a bit as he looked up to notice the ice melting.

He saw the fire girl melting the ice with her powers. Once a path was clear he got up and waved his hand at the fire lady before continuing on to the danger room at full speed. He needed to get there before Iris awoke again. He also needed to treat her for anything, but the danger room was probably the best place to go. He was careful to look for more attacks yet moved at a very fast pace.

Shawn finally caught his balance in the air and flew back out to fight with the ice. Just as he was appearing back into the hallway he saw someone carrying Iris away from all the ice. She looks like she passed out Shawn thought. He was tempted to follow him just to make sure that he got her there safely and nothing else hurt her or him; however, Shawn decided that it would be better if he stayed and fought the ice with everyone else.

Shawn formed a few tools out of his silver and began to break up the ice with everyone else. A few more times as he was flying along the hall to get to everyone he was intercepted by ice pillars and other objects that the ice had created to separate them from Iris. Sometimes Shawn didn't see the ice coming at him or it seemed to leap at him from out of nowhere; he was caught and stabbed in the arms.

The ice recoiled from the heat; fire was it's natural enemy, and this was quickly becoming a losing battle. Still, it didn't relent against the threat, continuing to attempt to press in from various directions. As the roof and pieces of wall blew out, the ice formed over the holes, thickening and pressing forward to try and douse the flames. It also continued its attack elsewhere, on the other trying to contain or destroy it. There were two figures that were doing nothing the ice considered threatening; one standing, one floating. So it ignored them, and went after the other threats.

Then something changed. A beautiful sound cut through the noise of battle, its tone amplified by the chill menace. The ice paused, locating the figure it was coming from. It was the chanter from the infirmary. This creature was different from the others somehow. It's song was.... confusing....

The ice paused for a brief moment, unsure of what to do. The song urged it to stop its attack, yet it was still trying to protects its maker and itself. It seemed that the entire hallway groaned as the ice shivered slightly, magnifying the chanter's song.

Within her shell, Iris shivered as well. <"Raina?">

Something else made its way into Iris's mind, another wave of calmness; Haywire's effect must have been weakening for it to be allowed through. She still couldn't grasp the actual words, only feelings, something urging her to stop. <"Stop what?">

Friends, safety... <"Then why are they attacking me?">

Calm... <"I want to, but I can't... Still... in danger... ">

Hurting...

In the next instant a piercing note ripped through her ears, and the attack began again. Iris whimpered, and the shell thickened again. She drew her knees up to her chin. Unintentionally she locked onto the mind that was trying to reach her, and sent back a clear, almost violent impression.

PAIN... STOP THE PAIN... With the feeling came images of those it considered most threatening; Raven Fire, Mettaliar, and now the silver man.

The ice redoubled its efforts and again began expanding as rapidly as it could toward the fire-starter. The walls and floor creaked and groaned with the effort. It surged past Raina and Nicki, pursuing Mettaliar as he retreated, throwing any obstacle possible into his path, trying to slow him down enough to retrieve Iris from him.

"Iris, if any sanity is left in you... please. I'm trying to help you. Don't continue this... just let me help you."

<"I.... I'm trying....">

Nicki struggled to try and keep a lock on Iris' mind. It wasn't proving easy, in fact there was so much going on that Nicki was almost at a loss of what to do. She struggled as the idea of intense, searing pain was whipped through her. Nicki bit furiously on her lip almost to the point of drawing blood.

::Iris I beg you, we're all here trying to help you. None of us are here to hurt you honey...we're all your friends. The attack was an accident, someone who didn't realize what was going on and was trying to help. I swear to you Iris, if you let us help you, no one will hurt you. I'll keep you safe. Raina will keep you safe. No one here wants to hurt you...we all just want to help you::

Nicki still wasn't sure what Iris could pick up or not pick up but there was clearly some kind of connection established between the two and Nicki hoped that it would only allow more information to get into the confused girl's brain.

Seeing all the commotion, Aurica had absolutely no idea what she needed to do. Seeing ice coming out from the walls at people, she was using what control she had of her telekinesis to keep them away from everyone. She turned her head to see some girl who had immense control over fire holding back the ice. In another spot she was seeing a young boy protecting a girl who was using her powers as well. And she also saw another mutant using his powers to push back the ice as well.

Everyone knows what to do... I can barely even control my powers... I can't do this or handle it!

The second she lost control of her emotions, her powers weakened, and she dropped to the ground, hitting the ice. Aurica picked herself up and saw the ice coming at her again. She started rolling, jumping, ducking, doing anything she can to avoid being hit by the ice. Eventually she went into a corner and just rolled up into a ball, holding her head, tears rolling down her face.

"...I can't do this... I can't do this... I just can't..."

Shield saw the girl in the corner and, seeing that Raina was ok said to her, “I’m going to go and help her, call if you need me.” With that he made his way over to the girl in the corner. As he still hadn’t attacked the ice it wasn’t after him, though the odd stray spear would slam into him every now and then.

He reached the girl and crouched next to her. “Hey there,” he said calmly, despite the chaos going on around them, “It’s going to be alright. Come on, come with me back to my friend over there. She can keep the ice at bay and you’ll be safe near her.”

He held out a hand to the girl with a reassuring smile as another lance of ice hit him in the head. It slammed it into the wall, but then receded. He shook his head to get the little flakes of ice out of his hair before explaining to the girl, “I’m invincible. It’s a nice power, but not much help here. Now come on, up you get.”

Aurica getting herself together, she looked up only to see another mutant trying to help. Tears stop going down her face soon after, and she felt somewhat clam now. She couldn't quite figure it out, but there was something about him.

W..why do I feel so calm all of a sudden...? Could he be someone who can actually keep me calm no matter what?

It was just then that the lance of ice hit the back of his head. Aurica freaked out a little, but saw that it did absolutely nothing to him. She gave off a slight smirk when he said he was invincible. Replaying that again and again in her head, she just started giggling with a huge smile on her face.

Wow, he does make me feel calm.

Aurica took his hand, and got up from the ground. She saw the friend he was talking about. She started heading towards her with the boy. While getting to her, ice kept coming at them. Some was protected thanks to him, while the others, Aurica kept away with her telekinesis. When they finally reached his friend, Aurica was a little embarrassed. She just turned towards him, completely red from embarrassment.

"H-Hey... thanks."

Daisake had followed Raina from the Doctors care. He didnt know what he could do but he wanted to help out. he had watched her voice move the ice as if it was in fear. he watched As she moved forward. He saw other mutauts . he nodded to them all not knowing what to say to them. Turns out he wasnt really a people's person. he watch as they talked among themselves. not really saying anything just thinking to himself

Michael smiled at the girl as they reached Raina. “No worries,” he said with a smile, “I think everyone else was too preoccupied with the ice to notice, so we’ll keep this our little secret.” He gave her a conspiratorial wink.

Just then a lance of ice shot out at Raina and he leapt in front of it. it stabbed through his shirt and knocked him back, but he stopped short of Raina as her song made the ice recede.

He looked down at his tattered clothes, both form Ted batting him about and Iris’ attacks. Smiling up at the two girls he said, “Pity my clothes aren’t invincible as well.”

Mettaliar was out of breathe yet tried to keep going. Eventually he tripped over an attacking ice thing and fell, taking Iris with him. He fell landing on his shoulder hard so that Iris wouldn't bounce off the ground. He immediatly got up and covered Iris over with his body. Suddenly he just whispered into Iris's ear out of concern.

"Iris.. I'm only trying to help you. Please please please calm down. Save us both. Your both of our only helps right now." He quickly ducked lower waiting to be impalled by a giant icicle. If this was the end, at least he would be trying to protect Iris.
