The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Traversing through the fall fallen grounds a young figure walked up to the main path to the Xavier Institute. The shadows of the coming nightfall cast over her lithe frame as she walked unsure up towards to the gate. It was a big gate- the metal was no doubt freezing to the touch and although it didn't seem so interesting other than glamors the elder teen could tell with some observation that this place was pretty high in Technology... Slowly almost jittery the heavily clothed female shadowed by the darkening night sky went towards the intercom and went to press the button. However in her hesitation she realized maybe that wasn't the BEST thing to do, and thus the shy girl backed off from the intercom and unknowing stepped into the moonlight.
The incandescent moon showed her features quite well now. Pale skin, deep inky black hair, heavy clothing and oddly a strange old cloak that covered her being. However what stood out the most in the moonlit light was her pale eyes... Accented with a hint of pale violet, no visible pupils the girl seemed to be in all instants blind! However that was not the case she could see fine and it used to bother her in the past about people mistaking her as blind, though her kind and oblivious nature always pointed out that she could indeed see and she never used it to her advantage, the thought never crossed her innocent mind.
Blinking she looked at the large building which held several mutants, people like her... Some lights were still on she noted but than again it was only ten at night, this was no way late for her as she stayed up for several days before falling a sleep on a park bench- came with the traveling and little to no money after all. A bitter wind brewed up however she heeded it no mind as she could easily breath and stand the bitter winds. It was what she gained an immunity to so to speak from baring the Russian colds. Now even more hesitant the dark haired girl took a step back and began to think her hand to her lips she sighed as though she was frightened.
"Maybe. I should come back tomorrow?" She spoke softly before beginning to turn around. Part of her wished to leave and sleep somewhere for the night, but another part of her told her to stay for a bit longer.. maybe someone would come? As she stood in quietness the moon was once again covered by clouds obscuring her frame though a small peak of light sprayed through the heavens illuminating her face and sides of her body. Yes... she would wait...

As clouds passed over the moon's waxy face, a wolfy howl cut through the night air.
"Awooooooooooo~" It was a howl that'd set blood to curdling, and put neck hairs on end. Hurried pawbeats rushed across the darkened mansion grounds. A flash of bluish fur was lit as it passed under a spotlight. A man-like form staggered after it in the shadows. And then, another howl.
The shadows drew closer to the gate! Two black silhouettes, dancing in the dark. The wolf reared its haunches. The man's body was cornered, pressed back by the approaching hound towards the fence. Heavy breathing rose and fell. The dog pounced!! It was terrifying! It was mortifying! OH THE HUMANITY!!! It was...
The spotlights snapped on, pinning an Asian man in a pink sweatshirt down under the happy frame of a Siberian Husky. The dog was licking the man's face.
"Okay, okay, Thor... we gotta get you back in. I can't have you running out of my room into the night like this. Makes people think..." Pinned on his back against the fence, Shin hadn't noticed anyone behind them at first. As Thor's paws came down, pressing him down farther, Shin could see a cloaked figure beyond the iron bars. He slid out and around, turning in the grass to face the cloaked figure from a seated position. He rested his head in his hands as the dog rolled on its back.

Pale eyes widened as she heard what sounded like a wild animal running through the yard, watching as the clouds rolled by the Russian girl saw the silhouette of a apparently a human and then the large beast that followed him... It couldn't be? There were no wolves in New York City were there? Upon the spotlights coming on, the young woman rubbed her eyes to adjust to the light, brushing her hair away she looked once more afraid to what she would see.. A mutilated corpse? The beast gnawing at the being's bones, A- The person was okay? And was that a pink shirt?
Blinking absently she moved a little more closer to the gate pale eyes fixated on the duo before she gave a small gasp. The person was a man- now that she saw him correctly and the "wolf" was in fact a big dog! A husky she presumed... Putting her small hands in a clasping form she smiled lightly a rosy blush appearing on her features as she gave a weak smile, she would of spoke if the man did not speak and thus her words died in her throat, that always seemed to happen when someone spoke before she did...
"Hey." "You need some help?"
"A-Ah... Y-Yes! I mean.. Um..." She bowed her head for a moment her face flushed unable to speak without a stutter in her tone. Breathing in Emil tried to gain some confidence as she looked back up at the male. "I-I'm Emil Garland... I'm a mutant... and..." Her courage seemed to fade quickly as she looked away for a moment her blush still permanent on her cheeks. Shaking her head she stared at the man again, "I'm hoping to be allowed here?"
Inwardly sighing she was happy she could speak without messing up as bad as she USUALLY did. Maybe now she could begin her road to become more self confident? Walking over she grasped the metal bars with her small hands as she peered through the gates. "I am allowed here r-right?"

>>"A-Ah... Y-Yes! I mean.. Um... I-I'm Emil Garland... I'm a mutant... and..."
She glanced away from him, a furious blush on her face. Shin opened his mouth. No words came, except a helpful 'uh....' Why was she blushing? And... er... suddenly, he was embarrassed and blushing too. The husky slid its head under one of the Asian man's arms. His tongue lolled out happily as he barked a greeting at the girl.
>>"I'm hoping to be allowed here?" She stepped forward to grip the metal bars, asking again with a sense of urgency. "I am allowed here r-right?"
"... Yeah." Shin pushed off one knee and got to his feet. A hand brushed past the Siberian husky's crown of fur. Shin walked over to a keypad and input the code. The gates slid open with a silent scrape. Shin glanced back at her with an affirming smile. "You're allowed here. Follow me. I'll help get you settled up. Oh. And don't worry about Thor. He's a good dog, usually," Shin added, walking towards the lit walkway leading to the mansion. The Siberian Husky ran around the girl once, twice, then followed the Asian up the path. After a moment, Shin looked back at her. "My name is Shin, by they way." Just Shin. "If you have any other questions, ask away."

Smiling slightly she nodded at being allowed entrance to the mansion. Watching in fascination as the gate had opened she looked at the Asian, she adjusted her cloak so it wasn't biting into her neck anymore than it currently was, she then followed the man silently up the path.
Well until she was walking she noticed the large Husky who she thought was a wolf at first was quite friendly and ran around her in circles a few time, she made a small ''eep'' as it stopped it run and caught up it's master. Looking forwards she thought for a few moments on what to question him... "Um... Sir- Shin, do we have to work to live here? To eat and sleep?" The Russian teenager asked as her thoughts of her surviving off of what work she did for people. Truly there was something had to do to live here?

"Not unless you want to," Shin replied. "Students live here for free. You did want to be a student too, didn't you?"
They reached the mansion's front doors, and Shin let her in. He looked at Thor. "Go back to the room. I'll be up later." Thor smiled at him, tongue lolling out. He stayed where he was. After a moment, Shin sighed, holding his head. He'd almost forgot... it looked like the dog would be following them a bit longer. Shin turned towards Emil as they entered the main hall. Behind him, Charles Xavier's face loomed on the wall. Two staircases wrapped up to the dormitories. Across the floor, a red carpet was spread. Above them, a glass chandelier hung. It was all pretty luxurious.
"This is the mansion," he nodded. "Watch your step over that red carpet... it's dangerous... "
He led her down a few halls. Eventually, they reached his office. Shin slid into a chair behind the desk, and pulled out a file folder from a drawer. He popped the cap off a pen, and started to eyeball the page.
"E... M...I... how do you spell your name? I've gotta fill out this paperwork." The pen slid behind his right ear. "Also, while you're at it, tell me about yourself..."

Once more Emi followed the Asian man as they entered the large double doors which opened to the mansion. It was- It was AMAZING! The red carpet which Shin told her to watch out for was well kept, the chandelier hung made of beautiful glistening glass which sparkled nicely in the light. However what caught her attention the most was the Large painting of a man who from what Emi could tell held a sense of peace yet had a firm sense in justice.
Blinking she smiled, so that was the man known as Charles Xavier? Emil somehow wished she could of met this man, but knows it's impossible at this point. Besides so many mutants were popping up in the world it must be chaotic! She barely registered the cute yet amusing scene of Shin and his dog Thor the moment they entered the building, partly because she was nervous and partly because the warmth washed over her taking her by surprise. Though Emil was sure that if she had noticed the scene she would laugh. "Not unless you want to," "Students live here for free. You did want to be a student too, didn't you?"
"That's good and- Y-Yeah I do..." Came her soft spoken reply before she looked up and noticed she stopped walking.... Watching him for a moment she blinked then quicken her pace to catch up with him as they entered Shin's office. When he sat down and began looking at the paper she blinked curious.
"E... M...I... how do you spell your name? I've gotta fill out this paperwork." "Also, while you're at it, tell me about yourself..."
Opening her mouth to speak she quickly looked down fiddling with her thumbs. "It's Emil... Um.. E-M-I-L, but I like to be called Emi... Um, My last name is Garland... Finding random stuff in the room interesting at that moment she finally laid her pale eyes on the desk. She continued. "I'm Russian... I come from Moscow Russia and I've been traveling around Russia then Germany until I got here in America since I was-" She paused looking thoughtful for a moment, "Since I was around fourteen I think..."
She added with a thought not really sure as she had been traveling for SO long after all! "I like Winter sports and collecting cultural things and.. learning to cook... I-I guess that's it?" By now she had a small flush over the bridge of her nose as she finally stopped fidgeting and put her arms down. "Um..?" She began twiddling with her cloak. "Can I take my cloak off? It's getting warm." Questioned the dark haired teenager after all she wore heavy clothes for a reason.

E-M-I-L Garland... The pen's tip tapped against Shin's lip as he eyed the name slot on the page. Emil... and she wanted to be called 'Emi', like the award they gave out in Hollywood to really good actors. Something shining and gold. Shin scribbled the name down with a quick flair. Next, he marked 'student'. His eyes moved down the rest of the form slowly as he listened to her speak.
Hmm, yes. She was Russian. That box got marked. He looked up when she told him she'd been traveling around. How long had she been traveling?
Arrived in America when she was 14... Wow. 14?
"Sure. Make yourself comfortable," Shin replied quietly. He slid the paper over to her side of the desk for her to finish. "You've been in America since you were 14... how old are you now?"
Shin had done a bit of traveling in his time, but not to that degree. Maybe a few years in America... a trip to Hawaii once with his family... nothing special. But her.... "Your English is very good," He added. "It took me a while to grasp the intricacies." Not quite true, but not quite a lie. It had taken him all of primary and secondary schools in Japan to get English down. Coming state-side was easy Cheez.
Shin's hand reached down to ruffle the fur on Thor's head gently. He scratched the dog behind the ears. Thor's reward for sitting still and being so quiet. What a good dog~

Smiling Gently the Russian took off her old brown cloak and folded in her arms. She watched as the Mansion Greeter wrote down her name in silence as she fidgeted with her cloak. Truth be told she wasn't always this fidgety, just to people she just met and to new places...It was also maybe because of her clothes that she was so warm as she was wearing her usual clothes which consisted of a heavy hooded shirt and heavy snow pants as well as hiker boots.
Emi wasn't one for cooler clothing as her adaption to warmer climates had yet to fully register in her mind... She was startled out of her thoughts as she blinked her shock off when Shin commented her... "Ah. Thanks... I was taught basic English in my boarding school back when I was younger and- I picked up a bit more on English while traveling the Americas-" She paused and blushed before continuing. "From American movies and books as well."
She stood in silence for a moment while looking at the sheet in front of her. "A-Also- I can hide my accent, it's strange really but I can hide my Russian accent..." She smiled a flush on her cheeks as she felt it was a good thing that she could hide her natural accent and mingle with the Americans~ "Shin sir- You're not native to America either are you?" She blurted out before apologizing. "S-Sorry! I just assumed..."
Looking away she looked at his Dog- Thor was it and tried to distract herself from her embarrassment.. "F-Funny- I thought your dog was a wolf for a moment earlier..." She spoke awkwardly before she lapsed in silence once more not sure what else to say..

Shin listened as she told her about the boarding school, and how she'd picked up her English language skills. He smiled at the mention of movies. "Very easy to pick up phrases from movies, but hard to know the right ones..." Shin commented. During his first few weeks in America, he'd watched as many movies as he could. Old ones, like Scarface and the Godfather Trilogy. It was not easy to use 'Feelin' Lucky, punk' in polite conversation. Even harder to use any dialogue from Pesci.
And in a feat of irony, the one line Shin had actually found a use for in real life, he'd missed the opportunity to use. How sad. He held his chin, contemplating.
>>A-Also- I can hide my accent, it's strange really but I can hide my Russian accent..." She smiled, cheeks aflush.
Any more flushed, Shin thought, and the toilet would overflow. He wondered passively why she was blushing so much. Did she have a fever? A cold from spending so much time out in the rain?
>>"Shin sir- You're not native to America either are you?" Emil blurted out, then hastily apologized. "S-Sorry! I just assumed..."
She looked away quickly again, distracting herself from the embarrassment to focus on Thor.
>>"F-Funny- I thought your dog was a wolf for a moment earlier..."
". . . Are you feeling alright?" Shin leaned forward over the desk to check her forehead for a fever. "Maybe we should stop by the infirmary and ..."

Feeling the older man's hand on her forehead made her feel nervous even more. The close contact wasn't something she was particularly used to so it was no wonder she back away. "N-No! I'm fine.. I always get this way around people..." She explained hesitatingly. Her pale eyes searched for his as she finally looked him fully for what might of been the first time. "I-I just have a bad reaction to being close to people I-I guess..."
In truth she was extremely shy around people if she didn't know what to do she would hyperventilate even more so around guys... She hated it sometimes but her body reacted this way. Closing her eyes she gripped her hands together forcing her bubbling shadow from rising around her. 'Stay in control! Stay in control!' She muttered in her mind as the inky substance returned to solid normal intangible shadows. She opened her milk pale eyes again as she gave a small smile to the Mansion Greeter Shin.
"I'm fine.. I just... Need to calm down." Emil spoke as she did some breathing exercises hoping to calm herself, it helped enough for her to regain her composure and her blush faded away slowly- she however looked like her normal paleness which wasn't very healthy looking at all... "Um let's continue please?" The shadowmancer questioned her voice more leveled and even now.

>>"I-I just have a bad reaction to being close to people I-I guess..."
"O-oh. I see..." Shin smiled weakly, pulling his hand away. So she wasn't feeling ill, and he'd made the situation worse? Fantastic... so, she was shy. He'd have to be more careful. "Sorry. I didn't mean to make you nervous."
Some people were just natural worry-warts, it seemed. It came from so many things. Exclusion in society? Distant parents? Family issues? Abuse? He idly wondered why she had worries.
Then it become readily apparent. Her shadow... was... bubbling. And she was doing her very best to keep it in check. After a moment, it seemed she'd gotten it under control. She offered Shin a weak smile.
"Are you okay..?" Shin asked.
>>"I'm fine.. I just... Need to calm down."
She took a few calming breaths. Shin nodded understandingly. "Take your time. Again, sorry."
>>"Um let's continue please?"
"Sure." He nodded to the page he handed her. "I need you to fill in the information about your parents, home life, power... tell me. How do you explain what you did just now?"

The albino mutant nodded as she looked over the appear curious of why they needed such information... She mused that is most likely because of a background check or something with Foreign Affairs? Mentally shaking her head, pale eyes scanned the contents of the paper. It was as Shin said just what was important.. she began to write. ___________________________________________________________ 'My parents are Anya Garland and Rude Garland- they are wealthy company owners, my Father runs the main front while my mother is in the backgrounds setting up meetings and things. I never really learned what it all was since I was usually home. I grew up a quite life- I always kept to myself and due to my penchant to reading I learned things quickly.
However when my parents couldn't take care of me due to their jobs they sent me to a Bordering School- Saint Rose's Boarding School. Life didn't change much but I did learn about my Mutation while being at the boarding school. I ended up traveling around Russia after I was forced to leave the Boardings school for fear of harming the other children- from there I traveled and on my sixteenth birthday celebrated it in Germany, then I went to America and moved to New York at eighteen... ' _____________________________________________________________
Writing this whole thing down she blinked and realized she basically wrote an essay.... Oh well? "Um.. here you go-" She spoke putting the paper away from her. "I hope I didn't write too much.." She blushed embarrassed before it faded. Sighing she decided to explain her mutation to Shin though knew it would be long winded for her.
"My Mutation is- well it's kind of hard to explain. It deals with my shadow, I can create these creatures that are based off my emotions I call them "Titans". "There is Agro- My anger in the form of a red and black Minotaur. There is Loyalty or Trust who I call Trusty- it is in the form of a dog and is blue and black."
"And then there is Joy- who is just that, my joy... Though- Joy is my weakest and comes in the form of a bird that's pink and black." "That's all I really know about them other than their strong and independent..." She finished in a musing way before she smiled, "Um.. I hope I didn't ramble..."

"Wow," Shin took the novel. His eyes darted back and forth down the several pages as he checked and cross-checked. "Yeah. That's plenty. So you grew up in a boarding school? Guess you'll be right at home here." He smiled.
"And your mutation?"
He fell silent as she began to describe it. Shin held his chin. Count the shadows...
1 - anger anger. Danger danger. Minotaur.
2 - Loyalty. Big blue and black dog.
3 - Joy. Joy was weak. A big pink bird.
Yes, yes. They all sounded crazy, and lovely, and good. But shadows created from emotion...
>>"Um.. I hope I didn't ramble..."
"You're fine. Beings created from emotion, though? That must be interesting. I mean, you can control your emotions, sort of, but once they're summoned, you can't control them at all?" That sounded dangerous. Dangerous and unpredictable. Shin smiled. "Guess I'll just have to help you learn to make them work for you. Have I told you what I can do?" He pressed a thumb to his chest boldly.

Emil blinked for a second thinking back at her previous times using her mutation... "Well- I know that once their summoned they still "listen" to me- sorta. Their independent yes, but I have a bond with them so to speak, also I think I can force them back early if they get out of hand.. But I never had a situation where I could test the theory out..." In truth Emi was worried about what would happen if her emotions went haywire- if she lost control of all her emotions or at least the primary ones then she shuddered to think what he Titans would do in a state of confusion...
Looking at her lap she tapped her fingers lighting on her legs finding herself nervous, however as she listened to Shin speak further she heard his boldness and looked up curious of what his mutation was. "N-No.. you haven't." she finally spoke up. 'Could it be something to do with elements? Or maybe something that controlled objects or maybe even time?'
Her imagination began to run while she cooked up even more strange mutations even one as strange as exploding stuffed animals! She mentally giggled at that though- now THAT was crazy! Though the Russian teen couldn't help but be curious as she looked at the Asian mutant wondering what he would do.
