The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Juka floated gently from the sky down to the ground , landing softly in a quiet street away from too many prying eyes. With a moment's thought his wonderful flying bubble disappeared and for the first time in hours his feet touched the ground. He would have preferred to have simply floated all the way to his apartment and thus avoided having to walk or catch a cab or anything like that but, alas, he knew that it was getting late and people were starting to come out of their houses and into the streets and, alas, he was forced to be practical. It was so hard living in a world of humans sometimes, when he could just float into the sky and go anywhere he pleased but no, he was forced back down to earth just to maintain appearances. But he did have a wonderful appearance, didn't he?
Juka sighed heavily and dramatically as a gust of wind game and blew his meticulously crafted hair out of place. It just wasn't fair, not at all. Here he was beautiful, more beautiful than anyone he had yet seen in his brief time in this city of course, wealthy and ever so gifted and yet he was relegated to having to call a taxi cab. It wasn't right at all. The things he was forced to put up with. He sighed again.
Juka looked around, hoping that, perhaps, he might be able to meet someone nice that he would be able to convince to drive him to his new apartment. He had a way with people, always had. It was his beauty and his talent; they just couldn't keep away from him, couldn't keep their hands off of him either. It was all rather amusing at times, but it certainly did have its benefits. He adjusted his long skirts so that they fell more artistically around his long athletic legs. Of course, it was amusing sometimes as well, those charming boys that didn't realize what he was until later. It was always so delightful to try and predict how they would react when they found out, a mystery as to whether or not they'd want him anyway or get grossed out and run away. Or, better yet, be completely conflicted wanting him and detesting him all at the same time.
Juka burst out laughing at the thought, not caring that it caused a couple people to turn in his direction and stare. People were always staring at him and, to be perfectly honest, he would be staring too if he was in their position. How could they not when he was the very image of beauty? He smiled a prettily painted lipped smile. Surely someone would take pity on his poor self, forced to walk (the horror) and bereft of any mode of transportation?

Flourish: To grow well or luxuriantly; to thrive; to make bold, sweeping movements; A showy or ceremonious passage, such as a fanfare. All the world's a stage. The fabulous mutant arrived in a bubble, touching down with light feet in long skirts to the gentle fanfare of the wind. Shin arrived in work clothes, on a red scooter, to the kitten-sized roar of the engine. He tore down a side street, on his way home. The single cycloptic headlight of the scooter danced across the pavement. Shin tightened his grip on the gas. As he approached sublight speed scooter approximations, the headlight fell on the boy and Shin slowed.
Skirts? Well-crafted hair and pop-ish make-up on a Japanese face? Shin narrowed his eyes suspiciously. This held all the forebodings of Jpop trap. He kicked the stand down with one leg, and pushed himself up off the seat. His navy blue scarf dangled as he took a step towards the person, tugging off his helmet to let the scruff of a hard day's bookshelving flop out on his head. Blue jeans and a white business shirt finished the look. Asian eyes glanced left, right, as if checking for a wedge of cheese near the springloaded personality.
"Need help?" Shin asked slowly, stowing the helmet under one arm as he approached. A damsel in distress or a guy in a dress? Shin could only hope for the best.
Juka flashed a sparkling smile at the offer for help. A scooter wasn't exactly what he had in mind to travel to his new apartment on, but it was certainly better than a taxi and the man driving the scooter was more than a little cute so that could definately prove to make the trip that much more enjoyable. "Why thank you, kind sir, your chivalry is to be praised and you are most certainly my knight in shining armor." He bowed deeply and dramatically to his rescuer.
"I am Juka, you might have heard of me, and you would your lovely self be?" Extended a hand and, if the other would let him, intended to bring his savior's hand to his lips for a light kiss. Of course it wasn't exactly likely that he had heard of Juka, seeing as how his band had never had a chance to really go beyond local clubs and they were in America, not Japan, but it never hurt to check. He wouldn't let the fact that his fame hadn't spread yet get him down, one day everyone would know him by face and by name.

"Tetsuya," Shin replied with an amiable smile, shifting the helmet under his arm to accept the handshake. He watched this Juka character closely, eying his face. Yup. Definitely male with enough concealment to pass as female. Shin was all-too familiar with this type of fabulous. After all, when he'd been younger some of his friends had tried starting a band. Shin had gone as far as wearing snappy clothes before he'd told them they'd have to find some other singer. That just wasn't for him. Still, snappy dressing was important and this guy was looking snappy. "I don't know about 'knight in shining armor', though. What seems to be the-"
"... problem?" He blinked down at Juka's lips on the back of his hand. "Er... what?!" He squeaked. "I... I have a girlfriend!!" Shin jerked his hand away, doing his best to hide the fact he was rubbing guy-kiss away on his shirt. He wanted to be friendly. Not that friendly. "I thought we didn't do those sorts of things in Japan... then again, you mentioned you were famous... wait, Juka?" Realization hit him like a punch to the gut. He -had- remembered his big sis raving about some sort of band that had visited her club. What had they called themselves again...? Okami... Ooh, Ukime? "Could he really be the guy from Ukime?" Shin quested aloud.
Juka giggled at Tetsuya's reaction, finding it really quite amusing. "Oh, I'm quite certain your girlfriend wouldn't mind a small innocent little kiss on the hand, now would she?" He grinned, batting his eyelashes in a flirtatious manner. "In fact, if she were here I would give her a kiss as well and then neither of you would have to be jealous of the other, now would you?" He nodded his head self-assuredly as if that solved everything.
"Well maybe we don't do those sorts of things in Japan but I certainly do." He made another flirtatious gesture, really finding Tetsuya's reactions to be thoroughly amusing. Well, he would learn. "And why yes I am Juka from Ukime!" he exclaimed, grinning even broader if that were possible. "I am so pleased you recognized me," he took a dramatic bow, skirts fluttering gracefully around him. "And I assure you, as soon as I am settled here I will find myself some worthy band mates and become even more famous than Ukime had the chance to become. Speaking of which," he looked around expectantly. "I believe you were about to offer me a rid to my apartment?"

One blink followed another as Shin stared at the minor rock star in awe. Had he really said that? No, really?
"Eheheh, no... I think I'll be... fine..." Shin twitched nervously at the thought of Kasumi getting kissed by anyone other than him. That was... no. That was not an image he wanted right now. Not with the prettyboy in skirts with long red hair, not with anyone. No. He tried to smile it off, but utterly failed.
"Heh, but if you're the same Juka my sister swooned over at the club, all if forgiven, right?" Right? He'd done this countless times, Shin was sure, with countless woman (and men?). And Shin was certain, if Kasumi had turned this Juka character down, his big sis'd be more than happy to relieve her of her kissing rights. Yet another thought Shin didn't need tonight dripped out ear. What. He twinged in upon himself, shuffling all the thoughts away in a fierce effort to be friendly. "Erhem, yes. Well, I guess I can help you to your appartment. Just so long as you cool it with the hitting on me and putting horrendous images in my head. Now where do you live?" Shin smiled, and walked over to grip the handles on his scooter. He gave a fake 'vroom'. "Let's go."
He coughed to himself as he got on his bike. Maybe he was letting the guy get to him too much. He seemed nice enough, just a bit twisted. No worries. Shin smiled at Juka again. "So, you're looking for some new members to bring into your band? I know a guy who has a band. His name's Fausto. Maybe you could talk to him. He might know some cool places to ask around." Shin patted the seat behind him for Juka to hop on. Realization hadn't set in yet about where Juka'd have to grab to hold on.
Juka laughed at Tetsuya's reaction, quite unable to help himself. It was just too adorable not to and there was no malicious intent in his laughter, just good hearted amusement. He certainly wasn't the first to react in such a way to Juka's advances. He knew very well the impact he had on people, but he may very well have been one of the cutest. "I think I like you, Tetsuya," she said, with a grin. "And don't worry, I won't try anything inappropriate with you or your girlfriend." he waved his hand in a dismissive gesture, still plainly quite amused. He rarely went beyond flirting and maybe a kiss or two anyway, and certainly not if the other party wasn't interesting. It was there loss anyway, much more than his. There were always people interested; he was Juka after all so how could people not be interested?
"Oh I am one in the same," Juka assured him. "Could there be more than one Juka?" He laughed again. Ridiculous concept. No one could possibly be as wonderful as he. Juka gave Tetsuya his address and collected up his many layered skirts so they would not drag on the ground while riding. Perish the thought of them actually getting dirty. And then he realized something positively horrible. He would have to do laundry. He. Juka Miami. Would have to do laundry. Actually dirty his his glorious perfect hands with dirty clothes. And cleaning. The servants had always done that before and while his father had sent him enough money to live comfortably, he had not sent enough for servants. Juka shuddered at the thought. Well, he would just have to find someone to do it for him then. It was settled.
"Fausto. I'll have to remember that, why thank you, you kind man. Giving me a ride and a connection all in the same night. You truly are wonderful." Juka gingerly got onto the scooter behind Tetsuyo, wrapping his arms around the other man's waist. If he was, perhaps, just a little closer to the other man than was strictly required, he was true to his word and didn't actually try anything.

Shin couldn't help but smile and laugh a little with Juka. It was a good-natured laugh, not nervous. While at first, he'd been offput (as should any one), the man was nice enough that it calmed Shin down. He sat patiently on his scooter, casting a head over his shoulder at Juka with a nod. "I appreciate that. I'd hate for something like that to ruin what could be a good friendship. You're one of a kind, kid. I don't think the world could handle two of you gracing us with your presence."
Juka told Shin his address, and Shin made a mental note of it. His grip on the scooter's handle tightened as he counted the blocks between there and here, and went over all the turns. It wasn't too far, actually. It wasn't a problem. Shin nodded politely as Juka sat down.
"Make sure to get a good--" Grip. He felt Juka's hands tighten around stomach muscles. A nervous sweat bead trailed on his temple. This was fine, really. "Hang on."
He kicked the stand aside with an alley cat yowl as the red scooter rumbled off into the night.
...right around the corner, and down the street. They paused at a red light a moment. Shin sat there on his red scooter, with the engine vibrating and an effeminate young man holding his waist. A thuggish-looking motorcyclist pulled up next to them. He hid a horrible smirk behind his hand.
"Sup," Shin nodded his head at the guy like a bobblehead. The cyclist shook his head at the posturing as the light turned to green. Shin zipped past the man, leaving him in his dust as he pulled up to the apartments at the end of the street. He pulled over and knocked the kickstand down.
It was really that simple, huh? "Here we are..." Shin noted. "End of the line~"
"Of course I am one of a kind," Juka stated self-importantly, not even bothering to comment on the use of the word kid in reference to him. The journey to his new apartment turned out to be fairly short and not nearly as bad as he had thought it might be. In fact it got him to thinking that he might even want a scooter of his own. Or even better, a motorcycle. Ya, that was it exactly, he needed a motorcycle. Not one of those big biker bikes of course, but something sleek and fast and just as fabulous as Juka himself was. That would be right at the top of his list of things to do once he was properly settled.
"Thank you for your wonderful kindness in bringing me here," Juka said dramatically. "You have been a dear dear friend to me and I promise I will never forget your good heart in helping a poor lost Japanese boy." He almost brought his head closer in order to give Tetsuya a peck on the cheek but caught himself at the last moment and just smiled instead. He had promised, after all.
Getting off the scooter Juka curtsied deeply. "I hope to have the opportunity to see you again." With that he turned his back on his knight and walked the rest of the short way to the apartment, disappearing inside its doors.
