The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Meld continued to collect as many jewels and pieces of jewerly as she could, until the other two girls had left the building. Although time was imperative in order to catch their target, they really didn't need further interference from others, well meaning or not. The other two mutants may have believed that they were doing the right thing but the truth of the matter was that they were horribly naive to think that sparing the bigoted human's life would do anything but perpetuate the hatred against their kind. It both angered and saddened Meld to see her own kind doing so much to hurt the cause of their very own people. How could they, in good faith, support a human over their own people? And a human that hated their people at that?
Once the two girls were safely away and out of sight Meld ceased her gatherings and turned to Aura. "If we leave now we might be able to catch him. I brought a bike from Santuary. If he's gone in a vehicle we'll need to use that in order to track him. Before coming here I did some research. I know where he lives, its not far." Research was the first step in ensuring that a mission was successful. Of course, simply knowing his place of residence wasn't going to get them access to anyone Davis might be working with, but she knew that he had a wife and a daughter. Even if he went to meet with some as of yet unknown allies he certainly would not allow his wife and child to be the victims of some "dirty mutants". She was confident that it wouldn't take long for the message to reach him that his family was in peril.
Making her way outside, Meld confirmed her suspicions that Davis had indeed left in a vehicle. Smart of him, but not smart enough as he would find out shortly. She hopped on her borrowed bike and waited for Aura to get on behind her. She had no helmet, but it didn't really seem to matter seeing as how she also had no liscence. If any cop decided to pull them over it would be for something far more serious than driving without a helmet. Such as, possibly, killing an anti-mutant bigot. Unlike some she didn't believe that killing was necessarily the best solution, in fact she believed that when possible it should be avoided. However, in cases like these, where there was no possible redemption or reteaching of the human in question, death was often the best and only solution. Not only would it get one more anti-mutant bigot off the streets, no more to spread his hateful propaganda, but it would also send a very important message, more of a message than merely trashing his store could ever send: that they were not going to stand for his type and that they were going to fight back with everything they had. This was a war, a war that they were going to win, no matter the death toll.
"He's not far," Meld said, starting up her bike. If Aura had decided to hop on she would begin driving towards their target's place of residence. "If Davis is home I think we verify whether he's working alone or with a group of others. By verify she meant torture, of course, and she was hoping that Aura caught the context of her words. "If he didn't go home then his wife and child should be there. We'll hold onto them and simply await his return. I'm sure he won't let them suffer at our hands." At least she hoped not. She really didn't want to have to harm a child.
The two young ones had left, and Aura was a bit angry with herself for letting them go, well not letting the girls go, that much was ok but for them amatuers by any stretch of the word, let an anti mutant bigit eascape. Had they been trained like the Army man or like stick man, then maybe it would have been all right. "I can't beleive a few amatuers messed things up" She said shaking her head.
Aura boardly traced a line through the jewel stores drywall, which was surpriseingly thin, she figured every dollor would annoy the man that much more now that he got away, from the resistence she knew she had struck wood, and her Aura slipped through that to, cutting a thin line through it, not enough to cause damage now, but in a few months or years it would cause stress to the building and cause other dmaage. Aura picke dup a few of the shiny rocks and shook her head, still not getting why anyonbe would buy one. "So they actually sell rocks to people" she asked puzzeled.
Meld then seemed to think they could catch mister davis though Aur ahad her own fears they might be way to late, te man had atleast five to ten minutes on them, not much really, but enough to slip their clutches anyway. Still meld had done her home work and so the hunt would continue on. Smiling she followed meld. "Good work" she said with a nod, as she felt her Aura blade slip through a secound peice of wood this time at a slight angel, the only think that kept the section from falling was the beams around it which took on added stress.
"Either way, we catch him then, very nice plan" Aura comlimented as she got on the Bike with Meld, she had never ridden one before but the form was not diffacult and she rather liked having the open air around them as it gave her east swinging room in case they were attacked. "Even if he is working he could be udeful in locating other Anti-Mutant cells and marking them for destruction" she said though the plan would give him quite a bit of freedom, and it might mean his wofe and kid would be relateing to sanctuary for their futures. She hoped Isable would enjoy what they did, she was hoping their actions would pleas eher and through her please syn, their leader. "You really do know how to treat a girl," Aura said jokingly as they rode before asking a more serious question. "If their going to the mansion, they might well get reinforcements to defend davis, still they should be way to late to matter, after all, they are much further away then we are" she said thinking more aloud then asking a question.

"They didn't really mess things up too badly," Meld responded, grinning. "We succeeded in messing things up pretty good and our little friend Davis is going to suffer anyway, even if his suffering is a little delayed." She paused a moment to wonder when she had gotten to be so blood thirsty. Davis' death was obviously necessary but did she really have to enjoy the prospect so much? There had been a time when she had patently refused to kill and that stance had, in fact, almost gotten herself killed. The circumstances were a little different, of course, seeing as how she respected the man she had been order to kill, but it was nevertheless a sign regarding just how much she had changed in the last few months.
The ride to Davis' place of residence was short and potentially terror filled for anyone not used to Meld's style of driving. She weaved in and out of traffic, traveling at breakneck speeds and only obeying the most basic rules of the road. For Meld it was exhilarating but she didn't stop to think about how her passenger might be holding up although that might have been a case of knowing it was Aura that was her passenger and the other woman wasn't exactly known for her conservative attitudes either.
Davis' house was much like any other house in the suburbs could be expected to be. It was 2 stories tall and there was a vehicle in the driveway but not the one their target had escaped in. "Either he's on his way and we beat him to his house or he's gone looking for his own reinforcements," Meld commented casually. Considering the time they had made and her own disregard for the rules of the road, it would not be inconceivable that they had made it here first. "It looks to me like his family might be home though." She couldn't quite stifle the anticipation in her voice.
Meld walked calmly to the door and tried it. Locked as she expected, but that wasn't much of a barrier. Aiming carefully she stepped back and forced her metal arm through the door, just to the right of the doorknob. Reaching through, she unlocked the door and opened it. "Shall we?" she invited Aura to enter first with a flourish of her hand. Now the real fun was about to start.
"That is true, even if we left him alone, i would imagine he has lost quite a bit of cash from the damage" she said understanding the rocks were worth cash but still having no idea as to why. They were colorful so maybe that was why, in any case they were going to finnish the job and Aura was happy about that, it would be one less mutant hater in life. Aura ahd no qualms about killing and at one time she recalled having such thoughts, but that was a long time ago, years ago, before Miracle had so kindly taken her under wing and rought and trained her. She wonderd how young the man's kids were not really wanting to have to kill any small children, after all a spcies had to survive to be hunted later.
Aura did not mind the ride, at first she had been a bit leary having never been on such a bike before, but after the first block or so, she ahd the confidence, to swing at a few nearby cars, slashing several tires as they buzzed through town. With a smile, and the pull of the wind in her hair she threw one of her pipe bombs behind her, which bounced off the windshield of a passing the car, the device rolled across the ground, and exploded. The small blast sent but of shrapnel through the streets doing little more then scratching paint and cutting into tires. She was surprised they had not atracted more police to them, but they could well be fully ocupied anyway. She guessed she should leave well enough alone, her hands stroked her pistal but did not grab it, shooting at people from the bike might be a bad idea.
Aura entered the house looking around, her eyes scanned the rooms she could see with anticipation though she saw no one thare, it was strange and kind of earie, but Aura moved into the living room, the TV was still on, the remote on the floor. Aura kicked the remote, sending it sliding across the polished wooden floors, and as she did a cat screamed loudly and ran off up the stairs. The House seemd oddly quite and Aura called back to meld "their either hiding or something is wrong" she said, as she moved into the kitchen, running her Aura blades across the table, leaving deep grooves in the table itself. She heard a dog barking in the backyard, a nice sized yellow dog, she liked the look of, though the dog clearly believed they were intruding. opening the frisge Aura pulled out a soda and opened it, taking a drink she continued her search.

As Meld made her way around Davis' house she couldn't' help but start to feel a little bit uneasy. She was pleased with the days events and the only thing that could possibly complete the day was her target's death. He had chosen to make mutants his enemies and by that decision he had chosen to forfeit his life. She didn't want to have to kill his daughter, she was only a child and so there might be hope for her, but she didn't think that it would be necessary. Her research told her that the girl was 10; likely old enough that she had gotten some of the unfortunate beliefs of her parents but perhaps not so old that she couldn't be rehabilitated. As for his wife, she had reason to believe that she was almost as bad as her husband and would likely also have to be dealt with. It would be tough for their daughter, losing her parents like that, but she would survive and be better for it in the long run.
First she would have to find her targets though, and that was proving to be far more difficult than she had expected. "Something's not right here," she agreed with Aura. Their vehicle was there and that meant that they should be here as well, but so far they weren't. Meld went from room to room, looking through closets and under beds but there was no sign of those that should have been in the household. Her conclusion was that they had fled somewhere. Davis must have called them and warned that they might be having rather unpleasant visitors thus giving them the chance to escape. It was quite unfortunate, really, and it certainly made things a little more complicated but it was no reason to give up their query.
"I believe someone knows we're here," Meld told Aura, returning to the main room. "All signs point to a hasty exit but the car is still in the driveway. That means they are either still here, somewhere, or someone drove them out. And if someone drove them out they might come back and we might be targets." Of course, if they were indeed targets that might work to their favor as well since going after an entire anti-mutant organization was better than going after a single anti-mutant. "I suggest we make ourselves defensable."
" i think your right" Aura said when Meld stated she thought somone knew they were thare. Had Davis really put that much thought in this. Had he been planning this whole thing the entire time. Their was no way to know at the Moment, as Aura opened another door leading down to a basement, she had not checked it yet and was curious. Still the lights were off and she could hear no sounds from down thare. Shutting the door, Aura Flipped the kictchen table pushing it against the door, wedgeing it in the space, having to shave several inched from it to do so.
Aura wonderd if the man would return with his wie and kids, people like Davis were never the brightest of people. Aura thought the house looked rather nice actually it reminded her of one from her past, though she could not quite place whare she knew it from. Slashing at the wall she cut a foot long gap in the wall with a swift slice. Sweeping a stray hair back she continued her task.
She then proceded to cut down anything she could to better, amke the house a defencive structure. She had no idea what was going to happon, they could simply face the people comming back or they could face an army. Aura could see car headlights in the front now, atleats three sets, none of them had the profile of cops cars though. Glad for this she hid from view od the door then wonderd if their was a point, after all the door did have a large hole in it now which they would be able to see a break in had ocurred, but maybe they expected it, She hear the door open and enced to get ready.

Meld followed Aura, slightly behind the other woman, as they made their way into the basement. Everything remained quiet yet maintained the eerie, abandoned in a moment, quality. She continued to do her part in furthering the destruction of the place, by the time they were finished there was nothing large that was left in tact and few small things either.
Meld returned to the upstairs and began assisting in moving things around to help their personal defenses. She tipped over a table, which would make a good place to hide under if it came to a firefight. It likely wouldn't protect them from high caliber shots but it might be just enough if all their enemies had were handguns. It wasn't perfect but it was better than nothing.
Suddenly meld became aware of the sound of motors and headlights shining out of the front window. She hid behind the temporary barrier she had erected, waiting for her enemies to enter. The table was just to the left of the doorway and with any luck she would be able to kill at least the first human or two before they realized what was happening.
The entrance of the human gang was not quiet nor were they nearly as careful as they should have been. Almost the moment the door opened, Meld jumped out from behind her temporary barrier and slashed the neck open of the first man to enter, causing blood from the open wound to gush everywhere. Clutching his neck he fell to the ground. Now that they were aware of her, however, the others would probably not be so easily dispatched.
The house was shredded, aura had her blade through the walls, cutting into the drywall easily, still now she could hear footsteps aproaching the door, and knew if whoever was entering did not realize the house had visators, they quickly would, though the hole in the door likely meant they knew or suspected somone was in the house. The real question to Aura became did they know Mutants were in the house, had this all been intentional.
Paying attention to Meld, the Secound man never saw Aura's blade form into it's saw mode, and only saw enough of it to scream as the hardened spinning blade, came down on the man's right shoulder, unable to make a slash becuse of the rather crowded condition. Still the saw tore deep into his hsoulder, cutting through skin, muscle and even cut deep to his shoulder blade. His Arm would be useless in the fight. He tried to back away but the surge of people behind him pushed him deeper into the room, until he fell his friends feet walking over him.
Aura had no idea how many of these guys were thare, but she heard a window smash next to her, and men started to climb through, their gloved hands giving them defence against the broken glass. They were prepared it seemed. Aura deflected a bullet which buried itself in the floor. Aura slashed at the man, he dodged, but she cut the gun in two, rendering it useless in the fight. She looked around the room but just could not get a good count on the enimy. It did not matter however, it seemed these men were determined to crush what was left of the house, meld and herself had not.

After eliminating the first man, Meld darted back behind her temporary shelter as Aura proceeded to eliminate the second. Then she heard the sound of glass shatter and knew that men were not only coming through the door but through the window, no more than one window she was pretty sure, as well. She had no idea how many men they had to contend with and the odds were not looking to be in their favor, even with their respective mutations. Someone had definitely tipped them off that they would be here, she was sure of it.
Meld popped her head up over the table, shield protectively in front of her, in order to catch a glimpse of what was going on and what she saw was not encouraging. There were at least a dozen men, possibly more, all of which had weapons, though luckily not all of them had guns. It was the only break they were likely to get. Still, the number of guns that she had seen was dismaying to say the least. Neither she nor Aura was much for ranged combat. She swore and ducked her head back down as a stray bullet struck her shield and ricocheted off of it.
"We need to eliminate the gunmen first," Meld yelled out to Aura. It was chaos all around and she just hoped her friend heard her. With another glance above her barrier, Meld took her opportunity to grab hold of a knife man that had gotten a little too close to her. Her claws dug cruelly into his arm and he called out, attracting a rain of bullets from several of the gunmen. Meld pulled him behind her protective barrier and expertly removed his knife from his hand. Spinning him around so that he was in front of her, Meld stood up once more, using him as a shield. Hopefully his friends wouldn't be willing to kill him and even if they were she should be able to block at least a few bullets with his body. She began walking towards the nearest gunman, careful to keep close to the wall and to keep her human shield squarely in front of her.
Aura heard her friend and she was right, the gunmen strategicly were their ebst choice, as neither of them were designed for long range combat. Aura Wasted littile time, ignoring a knife against her Aura as she moved, some one tripped aura and she fell to the ground rolling onto her back as she did, Forming a hammer during her role she swung at the knee of the first gunmen she saw, without meaning to Aura struck with more force them normal, shattering the man's knee cap into sozens of small shards. The Man fell dropping his gun screaming in pain setting the music of the fight. Aura was concearned that her Aura had acted up like that but it had the desired effect so Aura did her best not to dwell on the issue.
Aura blocked a lead pipe that came down on her, her Aura held it but refused to cut it, moving back a bit she made her blade lose it's solidness, and when it did the man stumbled forward not expecting the lack of force. Slashing at the Man she cut through his short and drew a line across him flank before diving behind the upturned couch, just as a bullet buried itself into the couch and came oput just inches from her Face. Standing slowly she smiled ready to cause a distraction. "For the Order!" she screamed as loud as she could, chargeing into the crowd, trying to draw all the attention to her, to help Meld take out the targets. She hoped being iin the middle of them would make it so they would not shoot. Faith in animal instinct was betrayed however when one did fire, the bullet deflecting and striking a man off to her left.

The gunman Meld was slowly approaching started firing, oblivious to the fact that his bullets were striking the hostage Meld held in front of her. Apparently they did not have much care for friends after all. Seeing no discernible reaction from Meld, the man began panicking, emptying his entire clip into the corpse she held in front of her. With a vicious snarl, she discarded her now bullet-ridden shield and stuck her hand into his chest, cutting through rib bones like they were nothing, all the way to the edge of her shield. Removing her hand, blood splattered everywhere.
With a wild look in her eye, Meld charged the next man, jumping and cutting him deeply across the midsection with one of her clawed feet. He screamed and fell to the ground, clutching the wound as his innards tried to escape. Before she could spin to confront her next opponent, she felt something strike the back of her neck. She turned growling, showing no reaction to being struck with a lead pipe. Her assailant turned ghost white and stupidly dropped his weapon, seemingly in shock and Meld spared no more moments before slicing his neck open. She was probably going to have some difficulties with her neck once the battle was over and the adrenaline wore off.
A quick glance around the battlefield told Meld that despite the fact that bodies were beginning to pile up quickly, there were still many human targets remaining. She still wasn't sure how they were going to manage to get out of this alive, but didn't let that doubt show in her face or her actions. Better by far that they see a fearless opponent, one impervious to pain and impossible to defeat. Perhaps she would be able to intimidate a few into leaving their companions behind, convince them without needing to engage them directly, that this was a losing battle and to stay was to die. "If you stay, your lives are forfeit," she called out loudly, beginning to stalk towards her next target. "If you leave we will let you live." Even if only a single human left it would be beneficial.
Aura's slashes were quick and almost unaimed other then checking if Meld was nearby, Her first slash cutting through a man's wrist, forcing him to drop his weapon. Aura felt something strike the back of her Aura and spun around, her blade cutting deep into the man's side, Aura was very sure she had struck deep into his organs, even if she did not, the man dropped like a rock to the ground, bleeding badly. Grabbing a gun that had fallen onto the ground, Aura fired several shots into the back of a man's head, splattering blood all over the walls. Backing up a bit to try and Gain perspective, Aura only found more targets. Unable to really assess the chaos, Aura felt another bullet strike her Aura, this one fell to the ground. Her next thrust buried itself in the midsection of a tall muscular looking man, Aura Twisted then ripped it out felling yet another man.
Aura brought her head back in delight, this was what she enjoyed, what she was trained and made by nature to do. This was relaxing and fun to her. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Aura was as happy as a teenage girl at her prom. Stealing a glance at Meld she had to admit her dance parter shined in a beauty all her own. She knew Meld did not hold the same black and white convictions that she held, but still their were few these days she trusted as much as Meld. The Bodies piled up and limbs fell from their owners and still more seemed to come, Aura, despite her own enjoyment was having concerns, even as she cut into the neck of a skinny knife wielding animal. grabbing a lamp that looked sturdy Aura began swinging in a long quick arcs, trying to hit several opponents at the time eith the semi-cumbersome weapon. She knew her Aura would wear down soon with this rate of attackers, and so was trying to concerve her power.
"Theirs just no end" She shrieked, as man threw her from behind, at the cost of deep cuts to his hands, Aura alnded on the stairway to the second story, breaking several of the wooden bars that held the railing up. She was very surprised at the l;ack of police sirens and figured some of these thugs might know people in the station or the cops were just smart enough not to show up tp this. Then Aura smelled something she knew well and her eyes went wide, quickly she fought her way near meld, but her words were made pointless, as the flames overtook the doorway quickly, their had to be gas in the mix as well, she realized.

The man Meld approached began firing his weapon at her, all of the shots blocked by her shield. It was fortunate that she had invested in it and even more fortunate that their opponents, numerous and determined though they may be, were untrained. She knew that she would never have made such a stupid error. Fearlessly she grabbed the gunman's wrist with one hand, severing his hand cleanly with her claws, and grabbing the gun with the other hand. She fired the remainder of the clip into the crowd of enemies though she was unsure whether or not she hit anyone, untrained as she was with the use of the weapon. There was so much screaming that one new voice added to the chorus would have been unnoticed. Gracefully she pivoted on her feet and cut the arm off of another attacker while breaking his leg simultaneously with a metal foot. Another body down and yet there seemed to be no decrease in their amount of enemies.
Meld danced a beautiful and macabre dance of death, spinning and leaping, everywhere her bladed limbs went rivers of red followed. And Aura, beside her, followed suite, indeed their actions seemed almost choreographed , two dancers dancing together. Each time they fought together it seemed their minds grew together so that they could almost anticipate one anther's actions. In the past Meld had always been a solitary fighter, and not one who had caused death either, but that had changed and even if she didn't share Aura's single minded devotion to the dance of death, she knew that this was what she was meant for. When the fight was done her soul might suffer for her actions, but if she was not meant for this, not meant to kill in the pursuit of the mutant cause, than what was she meant for? All of her doubts and all of her questions would come later. For now she was the bringer of death and for now there was nothing else for her.
Despite her intense concentration and the fight for life and death she was engaged in, enemies coming from all sides now, Meld suddenly froze, if only for a moment. One of the countless horde of enemies took advantage, clipping her on the leg with a baseball bat which she was only able to partially block and that at the very last possible moment. He didn't live long to appreciate his action, as she jumped and kicked him in the face, covering his face with deep red gashes. She smelled gas. Things had just gone from bad to very very bad. "Damn!" she swore. "We have to get out of here now!" she yelled to Aura but she knew that it was hopeless. There were to many enemies, all exits were blocked off by writhing bodies and by attacking foes. The place could go up at any moment and there was no way they were going to be able to escape in time.
Skill genrelly won most fights and theses guys lacked any. Aura reasoned to herself that at the very least. Still numbers could make up for that and what had seemed like maybe seven or eight people had quicly added up out of control. Still the goal was the same, she ahd to fight on, she had to make sure Meld made it out alive even if she did not, she would not fail those she cared for again. The fire changed nothing for now, it was dangerous yes but first they had to at least fight through.
Aura, blocked the baseball bat with the flat of her blade feeling the bat crack in two and bounce off her Aura behind her, Enraged by recalling her failure Aura formed the drill around her hand wirst and jammed it into the man's chest, the bones were a nuisence, but once through that, mucsle and arteries tore more like paper until it broke out his back, Aura them forms the drill into ablade and ripped it out of the man's body splitting him from flank. Useing the monetum Aura let her blade strike the next target, the back of the wirst of a skinny man, though not enough force was left to hurt him to badly, he still obtained a deep gash.
Aura's head spun at Meld's words, she knew what the issue was, but not quite whare to go but she nodded and began doing her best to carve them a path, ignoring any semblence of defence, she felt Her Aura weaken with each strike. "This way!" she yelled but it was much to late. The blast from the front of the house, threw Aura through the house into the kitchen, she felt the flames licing at the back of her legs, burning her ins everal places. Keeping her Aura focussed infront of her, she survived her impact with the dish washer, which would likely never close again. Aura staggerd to her feet, and then she head somthing creak below her. "Shiiiit" was all Aura could scream as the floor began to fall into the basement, loud smashing noises could be heard all around. She fell onto her butt and felt a painful sting, her Aura would not take much more of this. Looking down she could already see her Aura fade in and out as her concnentration forced it to stay in place. "Meld?" she called, able to hear many people maning as well as several cars streaking off above, though very littile light actually made it down to the small open pockets that remained for the survivers.

Even if there was not the impending risk of fire Meld wasn't sure that the two of them would be able to make it out alive. Or rather, she wasn't sure that Aura would be willing to leave, knowing how she was with the idea of retreat, and she was not willing to leave without her friend. None of what she fought for mattered if she was simply willing to abandon her friends when things got difficult.
Meld blocked a knife strike from another human, her hand wrapping around the blade of the knife and ripping it out of her opponent's hand. Never ceasing movement, she continued the arc of her hand then reversed it, to smash into his nose and cause him to fall to the ground among the other dead and dying. Frantically she tried to get to the nearest exit, not even caring, now, whether or not her blows were enough to incapacitate and defending herself less diligently than she had been. None of this mattered if the entire place went up in a blaze of fire and they all died in the blast.
Meld heard Aura's yell from ahead of her and then a moment later everything went black. She came to on the ground, unsure of how long she had been out for, but assumed it couldn't have been more than a few moments. As she crawled stiffly to her feet she did a quick look over her body and was horrified by what she saw, her right side was covered in burns although her left side was mostly untouched. Although she had little more than basic first aid training, her limited knowledge told her that they probably weren't life threatening but if she wasn't careful there was a very real possibility of infection and she would likely scar. Later, when they had gotten out of here alive, she would sorry about how her face might look.
"I'm here," Meld yelled, realizing that Aura was calling her name. Or at least, it was supposed to be a yell although it came out as more of a croak. "I'm here," she tried one more time, succeeding in being a little more clear this time. She tried to make her way through the wreckage of the house and across the multitude of dead bodies, bodies that she and Aura had caused and bodies that the explosion had caused. She made her way towards her friend's voice slowly, far too slowly, her left leg and left arm not seeming to work quite as well as they were supposed to. Maybe she had been injured more seriously than she had thought, although there didn't seem to be much blood. Did burn victims usually bleed much? She wasn't sure.
"We have to get out of here," Meld finally found Aura, her voice still not as strong as she would have liked. The flames from the explosion were beginning to build and she was pretty sure that if she could feel she would have felt the oppressive heat. "Can you walk? If we don't move fast and the fire doesn't kill us then the police certainly will."
