The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura cut through several blocks of wood barring he rpath as she searched and each one seemed to produce a groaning sound. One even made several pounds of the house remains fall behind her barely missing her. Looking up shw wonderd exactly how they were going to get out of the house in time, and she still ahd to locate Meld, with any luck her limbs had helped her survive. Her Aura had saved her from injury, but she felt a bit weak, her blade barely staying formed and it wa sgetting harder to cut through each preogressing peice of shatterd wood.
Aura heard Meld's voice and poured what energy she had into carving a path to her, but it seemed uneeded. She could not see Meld's wounds clearly but she could smell the scent of burnt fleash on her. Concearned she thoguht about how to get out then turned back to her friend. "The stairs leading to the ground floor were concretem so they should still be in tact, find them and we can get to safety" she said looking arounf for any sign of the stairs. "I can move Meld, but i agree, i can't tell in this light to well, but im guessing neather of us is ready for more combat" she commented, admitting that she herself could not continue a fight. Aura had the urge to throw up but she resisted swallowing the horrable tasteing stuff to keep it dpwn.
Walking around Aura began trying to clear the clutter from the now compact house and becuse of the limited space she found the first stair almost by acident, it was blocked by several long shatterd boards, the remains of the floor board supports. Well Aura waited she thought to herself that she really needed to stop having building fall on her, it wa sgetting quite old. "Can you move that? I can help but My Aura won't be cutting through anything else" she said, raiseing her hand to show what she meant. Normally she would not have botherd with the gesture but their time was very limited.

Meld nodded at Aura's words, remembering that the stairs were, indeed, made of concrete and thankful for small mercies. Although she felt no pain her mind was in a slight daze, everything seeming just a little bit foggy and dulled. Obviously her body was not in good shape, even if she couldn't really determine how bad the damage was but she was pretty sure that it wasn't bad enough to prevent making an escape. Or so she hoped.
Meld walked over to where Aura indicated using her metal arm to move the shattered pieces of wood. It was at the very edge of her strength to do so, even with her friend's assistance. With a large creak from above, the final board was moved. Meld froze, praying silently to a god she didn't believe in that the house was not going to collapse further and trap the two of them inside but, after half a minute had elapsed and there were no further sounds, she assumed it was safe and began working her way slowly up the stairs.
The going was slow and tedious, although the stairs survived the blast in tact the walls and roof had not and she had to navigate past numerous fallen and burning boards. The fire, luckily, had not spread significantly into the basement of the house but there were still patches here and there and the longer they remained within the larger those patches of flame grew. The more serious problem by far was the smoke, which caused Meld to hack and cough. They were close to the exit, she knew they were, she just hoped that both of them would remain conscious long enough to reach it.
Aura did her best to help meld, but her Aura was spent and since that was tied to her life force, the drain made her tired. Still The Aura pooled around her Hand, she cut away several of the boards to try and help meld whare she could. She coughed as smoke enterd her lungs, even her Aura would have provided littile protection against it. Rubbing her eyes she had a few thoughts the house might simply fall on them. Why did buildings keep falling on her.
The fire coated boards really did not help matters much at all. They were quite as they worked, for many reasons in Aura's view. As they fought their way up the stairs, Aura at last found light as they broke into the the outside world. Aura looked around, as she coughed more, a small miracle happoned as the stairs they took lead to the back of the building, most of the people were gatherd at the front, still trying to put out the fire, which had spread to a neighboring house already. "I have a place we can rest" she said back her voice horase. Their would be no medicle attention thare but they could rest on their way back home.
Rubbing her head she realized how light headed she actually was, marshalling her strength she stood tall, lettinf her Aura fade entirely. She waived to follow to Meld and then set off, throught the remains of the fence the house once had. It was only a few blocks over, maybe less and she was pretty sure their would be no gang member sin thare today, they knew better then to enter it these days, many of them had paid a very high price for doing so, very quickly Aura guided them into her warehouse, long forgotten by man of law. It wa slargly empty but their were still boxes all over the place.

Meld could tell just how much the fight and the subsequent explosion and fire had taken out of Aura but knew that her friend wouldn't give up until they were either free or dead. It was yet another similarity between the two of them, that stubborn determination that failure was not an option. If nothing else they were mutants and thus better than any human. She could not let an underhanded human trap defeat her; would not let an underhanded human trap defeat her!
With agonizing slowness, however, and despite the smoke and their injuries, they made their way up the stairs and eventually to the light of day. Meld nodded at Aura as she mentioned having a place to stay nearby, having no air left in her lungs for speaking but only for breathing. She coughed hoarsely but couldn't help the glimmer of joy that surged through her. Despite everything they had survived and the human horde was dead, their trap turned against them and causing their deaths instead of her's and Aura's. That made everything worth it, even if Davis was somehow, somewhere, still alive. He would certainly think twice before acting against mutants now!
It was with some relief that Meld saw that most of the crowd of bystanders were in the front of the house rather than the back and as she listened the sound of sirens was still distant. With just a little bit of luck they should be able to get out of the vicinity before the police arrived. Neither of them, she was certain, could afford another fight, not after everything they had just been through. She followed where Aura led, going as fast as her injuries would allow her.
Aura sat down on one of the boxes and pulled out a small cellphone and quickly dialed a number she had committed to memory the only phone number she knew. She quickly got Lisa at the front desk and explained where they were and that they would need some medical help. She then closed the phone and looked over to meld. "I called home, their sending a car this way to pick us up" she mentioned figuring they could use the break. The warehouse was empty and Aura was glad for that, she leaned back, careful not to lay down knowing her body really wanted to sleep. "Few less humans around no, i wonder how many actually died" she said to meld kind of curious at the numbers. She did not keep track of the number of people she ahd killed, no killing was to much like breathing it just happened.
"I don't recall seeing Davis back there, but he may have just hired those guys, they seemed about as smart as flys" she commented recalling their bad aim, and their continuing charge despite the horrible injured inflicted upon them. They fought like a gang, unfocused and poorly" she said, they had only done so well due to sheer numbers and now many of them would never make it home. "Kind if glad the kid was not there though, i try to avoid killing the young if i can" she said though her reasons were more to preserve the species to hunt later more then caring for children them selfs. It would be a few before the car could arrive they were a few miles from sanctuary still, and Aura was unsure she could make the walk herself and meld seemed more hurt then her, as her aura had largely protected her from harm.
Humans made little sense to her, why could they not just accept their lot in life, why could they not understand their reign was over. The young had to live to preserve the species, Aura did not advocate killing off every humans though she may have said as much at some points. Buit she saw them like deer, an over populated animals who just found it's predator, mutants.

Meld smiled in relief at Aura as they finally found themselves inside the warehouse, away from everything. They had made it. Despite everything, despite numerous humans gunning for their heads and despite a horrible fiery explosion, they had made it. Both of them a little worse for wear, it was true, but then Meld expected to get injured performing her duties at times. And even without Davis' death their mission could only be considered a success. They had single handedly, or perhaps with a little help from their opponents' ineptitude, destroyed an entire anti-mutant cell. It seemed obvious that that's what had confronted them. No one else would have been stupid enough.
"Even if Davis wasn't there our message was quite clear." Meld sat down on the ground and began tending to her wounds as best she could without any sort of supplies. She knew she would scar but mostly that didn't bother her, except for her face. Eventually most of her body would be replaced by metal flesh melds so the scars were temporary anyway but she didn't think she would ever be able to replace her face. Oh well, it was one more thing to make the humans fear her and they would be scars she would be proud to wear since they were gained in defending mutant rights.
"I am also glad we didn't have to kill the child. Children are still innocent and their minds can be saved from human hatreds. It is always a sad day when one has to die by violence." And yet, even thinking that, she also knew that if the best option was to kill a child then she would do it. Now all that was left was to wait for The Order to pick them up and patch up their wounds.
"Thats true, after all Davis not only lost the store, but a number of allies as well and a house. I would imagine other amti-mutant humans will think twice before helping davis again. They might be stupid but most want to live" she said beleiveing any creature really fought to survive, even Humans. Davis's act was simply the death throes of a dieing species, the last resistence before they were torn from the world, never to return. "Most importently, we are alive" she said with a smile as the best down by one of the boxes, sliding the front off, to reveal a safe, opening it, she put some of the jewery sha had managed to keep incide with several bank bags in thare. She closed it then slid the boxes back into place.
"Yea trouble with the young is they may not have manifested their powers yet, so in killing one, you could really be killing another mutant. Still what must be done, mus be done. And if the young survive we can hunt them later on in life as well" she said revealing she had a much diffrent reason for letting children live. Killing other mutants was somthing Aura tried not to do unless she feared her opponent would get in her way again, or she wa sorderd to. She recalled the fight with the preacher lady well, it had been a lot of fun, and she had feared killing her, but she knew the woman would likely try and stop her again, and somthing about her made aura want to fight her.
A few minutes later a black minivan stopped outside of the warehouse, the windows were tinted and it wa sunmarked. Sanctuary staff got out of the van, just two of them however. They checked both girls over and took notes of their wounds before directing them to the back of the van. In the back of the van was an elderly Mutant, but one experinced in healing wounds. Aura laid down in the van, and passed out quickly, unable to stay awake against the tide of her body's screamed to lay downa nd sleep. Their was littile they could do for her since she was just exusted for the most part, though she had some burns as well.
