The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shana looked around curiously in the yard, their were relatively few people around which was a large reason on why Shana had emerged from her room to walk around. It really was a beautiful property, well cared for with all one could want. Looking up at the sky, she wonderd about home, she had not heard much from back home but her mom was famous for letting things slip her mind and so Shana reasoned it could well just be that. pulling the hair tie, she let her long soft blue hair flow behind her softly in the breeze. As she resumed her walk she saw the pool area for the first time, she rarely did any swimming though she knew how. Her condition largely prevented her from doing such things without being easily picked out.
Stopping she looked down at a fallen branch, focussing on it she lifted it into the air with her power and raised it up to whare it had snapped off from. Focussing harder she pulled the branch away from the tree again and began to make the branch spin slowly at first, so focussed was she on the branch she nticed nothing around her, making it spin faster she soon lost the control she had on it, and the branch struck the base of the tree with a loud thud before falling to the ground, on her foot. Snapping out of her trance she mutterd a few swear words, her voice cracking from it's normal practiced condition. Looking around she hoped no one heard and bent down rubbing her foot a bit, she would be ok, but it did hurt a good amount, she made a mental note to stand further from the object next time to try and avoid self injury. As she thought to herself, several small sticks began to levitate in front of her, with a sigh she began to force them back down one by one.
It was a beautiful day outside, and the young redhead was actually awake. Her return to the Mansion was moving slowly, but she was progressing and getting to know all of the new, well, new to her, mutants at the School. After a long day of...sleeping... Fade made her way out to the yard, just hoping to get some sun, she was a pale redhead after all. Seeing a tree, she thought it would be a good idea to climb up and get a good sight of the Mansion grounds, enjoy some tree shade and maybe see what others were up to; she was rather bored and she would prefer for someone to be with her. Phasing her claws into the tree, she began to climb, easily darting through the branches until she had reached a good height. A few minutes passed until someone finally appeared, a girl with really cool hair.
The girl disappeared under the tree and Fade's curiousity got the better of her as she began her descent to greet the girl. Before she had reached the bottom, she noticed a branch spinning around and doing all sorts of tricks, a telekinetic. The branch landed on her foot and she began cursing as she nursed her victimized foot. It was the perfect opportunity, actually, it was what happened by the time she was close enough to jump out of the tree. Lightly, she leapt from the tree and held out her arms to keep herself from losing her balance.
"Practice makes perfect, don't worry about that," she sighed, the impact from the leap was a bit more powerful than she had expected and it sent a shock up her bones. Damn, she needed better depth perception. "Do all sticks have something against you or just the ones you play with?" It was a gentle question, Fade was more of a kidder, although stick attacks were not that frequent at the Mansion, or at least, she had never been a victim.

She was a bit starteled at first by the sudden appearence of the other mutant and as such the branch she had dropped once again leapt into the air to begin it's dance anew, Shes quickly forced the rbanch back to the ground, wondering if she had heard her voice before. She was going to have to get used to living with other mutants quickly she supposed, after all they were all over here. She played with the hem of her knee length short black skirt for a few secounds from the natural nervousness that came from being around people, whcih was broken when the other female spoke, so worried had she been about the oither girl, that she had completely forgot about the pain in her foot untill the stick comment.
"It would seem that they just might" she said with a weak smile and then continued. "I Lack control over my power, more so while starteled or surprised." She said gently. She had a feeling the other girl was joking. The branch did kind of bite her she supposed.
Testing her foot by putting a slight amount of weight on it, she winced slightly but she realized it would be fine, the branch had not been that heavy but the distence it had fallen had made it hurt more. "My Name is Shana, i arrived several days ago" she said figuring she should at least be polite who she assumed was another mutant. She did wonder if this other woman was a mutant, upon what she could do. Moving one of her long blue strands of hair behind her she took a few more steps from the tree, not really wanting to be terrable close to it at the moment. Pulling her her fitted t-shirt down a bit she stopped to look back at the other girl again, she was cute.
Unfortunately, since Fade's expertise was sneaking up on others, she felt bad when she had startled the girl at the foot of the tree and caused the stick to go whizzing around again in circles. "It took me forever to get the hang of my powers, and whenever someone would startle me, I'd just poof," she instantly turned ivisible but kept talking "disappear." Wishing to not make the girl, who had apparently just arrived a few days ago, feel alone, Fade turned visible again, remaining in the same location as she was when she disappeared. Some people tought when she turned invisible and moved somewhere else, that she was a teleporter. Nope, she was just plain ol' Fade.
"Nice to meetcha, Shana. I'm known as Fade around here, welcome to the Mansion," she smiled, making her way back over to the tree. The sound of a new mutant sent Fade into memory lane and she remembered just how much of a wreck she was when she had first arrived. Her first year or so at the Mansion, she kept her raptor-like claws invisible and tried not to look anyone in the eyes for fear that they would find her eyes odd. These days though, her claws were invisible and she thought her eyes changing a different color when she blinked was neat.
When she reached the tree again,, where Shana was creeping closer to, Fade phased her claws back into the tree and climbed up to the first limb before turning and sitting down. It was always good to sit down and her feet hurt from the impact. "So how do you like the Mansion so far?"

"That is whats happons to me as well, when i get starteled things levitate, as long as i concentrate and focus i can control it, still it's not the easiest thing" she said able to relate to the other woman's words. She was glad such kindred spirits were here. She was amazed at Fades power, it was cool and one she wished she had, although she suppose dif she did, she would never get over her fear.
"The mansion is nice, a bit bigger then im used to, this city alone might have more people then my native country of Israel" she said mentioning the country name simply so Fade would not need to ask later. "I'm still quite nervous, just from not being used to so many people in one area, im not so good in crowds" she admitted, figuring Fade like most others would just interpret it to be becuse of her mutation, which is what she wanted people to beleive, walked away from the tree just enough to keep a good view of Fade, she leaned against the neighboring tree. "So have you been here awhile?" she asked rubbing her neck a bit.
People here were so kind and tempting but she recalled her previous trials with revealing herself and those memories alone were enough to close the door again in her mind. She had not seen the newd here yet but for the most part it seemed more peaceful. Back home their had been news about terrorists and iran every day, about the rockets and nukes and everything else. "I have met a few residents in the past few days but for the most part i have just kept to myself" she said honestly, it was what she normally did, to afraid to aproach people herself.
"Yeah, I have no idea how hard it is to control telepathic powers, but I know it took me years to develop my phasing and it's still a little sticky for me," she shrugged. Honestly, she never even knew that she had phasing abilities, even though she had claws that could phase through anything, she just never considered trying to work with her phasing. King Pharmeceuticals really helped her whip into shape about working on her powers. "Israel? Wow," she nodded. She had no idea where Israel was, she never took geography though.
"I know what you mean, it always takes a while to adjust. I mean living out on the street, I was always afraid of what people would think of me because of my claws. It's part of who I am, so if they can't deal with it, then they're not worth it," she assured Shana. Something that Fade was extremely self-conscious about was her lack of education. Most of the time, when she told people that she never attended a high school, middle school, or even much of an elementary school, people would just say 'oh, ok, so she's just not able to write a paper. No, Fade couldn't read, couldn't write, couldn't even point to New York on a map, or America for that matter.
"I've been here at the Mansion for like three years, but I took a year vacation, just couldn't stay away from here. I've never really had a home, but this place made itself my home. Kinda grows on ya,"she smiled. It was understandable to be a bit nervous around the Mansion at first, I mean, Fade mostly stayed invisible for the first month-ish until she developed a close relationship with Raph and Deathstar.

"Yea, but im glad to be so far away here i can start anew and keeps things a bit more secretive" she said honestly. Many people had found out about her being a mutant from her aciidents and some knew her darker secret, the one she hid above all others. She blende din well and she enjoying that, maybe going out more would be a good and doable thing after all.
Shana could not help but be slightly suprised by the idea that people in america lived on the streets at all. America was viewed as sort of a promised land of sorts. She guessed however all lands were sort of the same. They all had the rich and the homeless their privileged and those without. "Yea, ajusting is tough, the culture is so diffrent here, and everythings so big" she said shaking her head a bit forgetting some about her fears.
"sounds like your life has been hard" she said, surprised at what the girl had seemed to go through. She had always had a nice warm home, the milltary training had been kinda bad, but what could you do. Compared to what fade had been through her life seemed quite easy in comparison, she almost felt bad about worrying so much about her own issues. "Many mutants seem to have had worse pasts then i have" she said thinking to herself, grateful more now for her mother back home, she missed her a bit more now as well.
"i need to learn to control my own emotions to control mine i think, they seem to jump out more when im angry or upset. Thats how most people found back home, i would get upset and things would flaot" she said which actually happened a lot unfortunetly. "Still im glad things are better for you now" she said sitting in the grass to look at fade, by leaning back a bit.
"Secret is good. Some secrets are hard to keep around here, most people become very close and word gets out through them and blah blah I don't know. But for the most part, the mutants that come here have had bad lives, so they are just happy to be accepted," she shrugged. Fade came there because of that and so had Raph and a few others that she had been close to. Yet there where students that had not had to hide that much, so getting used to the Mansion was a lot easier.
At the sound of Shana's statement of Fade having a hard life, the redhead just shrugged. "That's a matter of opinion. I mean, compared to people with a perfect home and a family, it sounds like a hard life, but that's all I knew how to do, so it wasn't that bad. Plus, I got to see the world first hand." Fade was like one of the Lost Boys, just had to go on without any adults, except Fade grew up and the Lost Boys never let themselves. "I say, no matter what kind of past you have, find some way to smile, no sense in frowning all day."
Fade had been one to always smile, she went through her rough days and after a year of being depressed, she was fed up with it. She had loved Raph, he taught her that, it was time to move on and love him for how he helped her, not as in the future. "Powers mostly emerge when a mutant is going through emotional times, so it makes sense for the gene to be linked in with emotions. Maybe figure out what emotions cause you to have these power episodes and try to calm yourself down when you feel like you're approaching that emotion."

"I would imagine, when many of the people here find aceptence after isolateing themselfs for so long, they would want to share their secrets, even if the might not be awhare of it at the time. Humans are social creatures" she said understanding their pain. The idea that so many Mutants gatherd in this place just fir that was a powerful symble of unity, which was a good sign, as long as it did not turn to violence and worse killing, they were stronger then their human friends and so had to help them if they could.
Yeah, your prolbely right" she said, though she knew all to well the emotions that raged her mind, why she had such hard time focussing even now, when she was so close to being able to put the fear and nervousness behind her. She could not help but wonder how life might have been diffrent if she had been born in the correct body, every situation seemed as if it would be totally diffrent. "Smiling is a good thing" She agreed though she did littile of it herself, she was simply unsued to smiling much becuse she ahd always tried to stay hidden as much as she could. Gtahering her hair behind her, her eyes travled aup and looked at the sky and clouds it looked the same despite the distence. "My home is Almost on the other side of the world....." she said shaking her head a bit.
Shana looked around at the mansion itself thinking about the city she had encounterd so far. "The city is huge and theirs so many people here. When i first got here i stopped for coffee and acidently bumped into somone, when the man started yelling i got scared and my power decided to cover him in the coffee, luckily i met a few people from the mansion who helped me out" she explained thinking back to the city.
"Yeah, we're pretty accepting here," she shrugged. She had said all that she really needed to say about acceptance, even though she could drag it out and start up with the 'oh I remember when...', that was boring and Fade hated it when old people did that. The social part was most certainly correct, Fade was quite social, even when she lived out on the streets, she had a few street rat friends. "Social creatures indeed. I'd die without talking to someone for twenty four hours!" It had been done before, but that was during her Registration Camps escape, it was too risky, but it was horribly boring.
Shana seemed to be homesick and Fade lowered her eyes. Honestly, that was one thing that she could not help with, home was sort of undefined for her. "Home? Sorry, I can't help you much there. I haven't had a home my whole life until this place. But when I was away for a year, I tried my best to make my..." she paused, not wishing to tell anyone the pathetic mall attic that she lived in years ago, "location... as much like this Mansion as I could. Then again, it's the not same without the people," she sighed, although at the time it wasn't the same without Raph.
At the sound of the coffee story, Fade could not help but sort of laugh. It was funny to see someone splashed with coffee after they've been yelling at someone that really did not need it. "Yeah, New York can have some pretty harsh people, it's a tough town. Maybe try having something on you that reminds you of home, then when you're feeling scared or surprised or on the brink of a power surge, focus on that object. A good friend of mine used to have his brother's dogtags, even though his brother passed away, but it helped him control his powers. Dunno if that helps," she shrugged. Maybe Shana was wearing something already and Fade was just too dumb to notice it.

"I'm sure it will just take time, it's nice not having to worry about certain things, like which para-military group wants to kill you each day" She said, though she had been out f the way of most of the rocket hit areas a few newer longer ranged ones had reached her city. The greater worry was always invasion however from the country's who backed those groups, she was unable to understand why those attacks and the governments counter attacks were at all needed. She was not really homesick, not yet anyway, but the thought of being so far away was very intresting and the cultures made them seem like diffrent worlds.
"You know, watching nature shows, tought me that a species adapts to it's conditions only when needed, and yet some mutants manifest completely different powers, even those in the same family. It's wild and exciting to think our population is beginning to boom as well, but it is also scary. We are human other then our powers but because of them we are capable of great things, both good and bad. Scary becuse it increases the chances of dangerous mutants who are willing and capeable of destroying a city block or more with ease" she said not really sure why her mind decided to float onto the topic, but she figured if anywhere this would be one of the best places for it
She hated violence but as she watched the world she had begun to see sometimes it was needed, like when her house had been robbed, she had hurt the man, but she had also missed his vital organs. Shana knew if the man could have he would have killed both her mother, and herself. Still she hated to admit it was needed, but she saw no other way to stop many of the violent mutants out there. Either way it was not a job for some one like her. "So what do you like to do around here?" she asked finnaly, mostly out of simple curiosity.
Fade had lived through quite a lot of things: robberies, kidnappings, jail, gang activity, battles, and many more, but she had never been targeted by any form of military and the sound of it sounded weird. "Hmm, I guess I kind of take our military for granted. I can't say I've ever been afraid of being bombed by them," she said, speaking softly as if it were a touchy topic. Different countries had such different cultures and since she had lived in America her whole life and only hitch-hiked on an occasional plane to France or Australia or somewhere like that, she had no clue what it was like to live or even visit the Middle East.
The topic of mutants and their control and increase in population perked up Fade's interest, not as if she was not interested before, mind you. "I'd have to agree. There are some mutants that do not use their powers for the greater good and instead turn to crimes. It's easy to fall into though, for personal gain. I mean, when I lived out on the streets, stealing and breaking into places was the only thing I could do to stay alive. If I did not steal food, then I did not eat. If I did not break into a warehouse, I slept in a dumpster. But there are those that just take complete advantage of humans using their powers," Fade frowned. It was quite easy to fall in that mindset, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Luckily, Fade's complex life made her appreciate the optomistic views humans and mutants shared.
Thinking of what she did for fun, Fade bean to tap her claws on the tree branch. "Well I especially like the Danger Room. It has a lot of fun things to do in there and it keeps me in check," she nodded. Staying healthy as an X-Man was quite important. "Other than that, I don't know, whatever floats my boat. I'd swim, but I don't know how. And I'd read, but I don't know how. So I just sort of poke around and do whatever crosses my mind. Wish I knew how to drive too," she sighed. Missing out of a family took away quite a few advantages that the well-educated had. Though Shana had proved to be the first person that Fade blurted out her lack of education to, but oh well, it was time to trust people.

"A para-millatary id those who take up arms and belong to no country of their own, terrorists might be a better term for it. Our millatary fought them but it seemed like nothing more thena spiralling cycle of hatred that never solved anything. In the last skirmish over 10,000 died and still things continue one, heedless of those who fell without any need" she said knowing her own goverment had cuased those losses, over a few deaths on their own side, Maybe they did have to fight back but why with so much force.
"Yes but is diffrent to steal what you need to survive and to simply seek to cause chaos. We all need to eat one way or another after all. I Suppose the real question is how to stop the spiral of chaos that has already been set in motion. I Dispise violence but i don't see many mutants stopping their rampages simply becuse others do not wish to fight" she said considering her own position on vilence. Still she did not see how confronting these rogue mutants withmore vilence would help, it seemed to her it would only cause things to grow even more out of control.
"Yes Sam mentioned the danger room to me, he offerd to begin training right away but i was not quite ready for that, i have to admit curiosity on it though. I would imagine a room like that could do many things as it would have to acomidate so many diffrent mutants" she said and then lisened to her story on the things she did not know how to do. Tilting her head she gave it a thought and shrugged. "If you want i can i try to help you with those things, my grasp on english writing has a few issues but even so their good skills to have, if nothing more then they can be relaxing" she said a bit concearned that fade did not know how to do such things and very surprised as well. It seemed mant of the things she ahd heard of america had been exaderated a bit, from the outside you would never know america had a single homeless person at all. "Driving i don't know, never learned that one.....at least not well" she said thinking back to her old driving lessons and the repair bill her mother had to pay when she acidently parked the family car in a street lamp.
Although the terrorists that Fade had dealt with were nothing like these para-military forces, there were those that she had fought against that were mutants fighting for domination. In that way, the X-Men were their own good para-military, if that even existed. The Order members were terrorists and the X-Men would try to stop them from killing humans. Yet they would try their hardest to make sure none of the innocents were hurt. "Well, I don't know anything about that, but there are groups of mutants that sort of have their own sense of war. That's New York," she nodded.
"True, violence is not the best way to handle things. Fighting fire with fire does not always seem to work. That's why there are different approaches, fighting fire with air, for one. Give it too much fight and it grows larger and larger from excitement, take away it's oxygen and it whithers and dies. Most fights that I have been a part of, we attempt to cut off the head of the snake, for lack of a better analogy. Taking out the source instead of attacking over and over again seems to be the best approach," she said. Some things took a battle to resolve, World War I and II, the Revolutionary War, the French Revolution, some things needed to be fought for if they were to be believed in. If you don't believe in something enough to fight for it, then it is not that important to you in the first place.
"The Danger Room is amazing, for people that are able to handle it. The first few sessions can be a bit intimidating but it's not that bad. It took me months before I got a session in there and now I can just waltz in and exercise." Danger did not even seem to be the proper word for it. First off, she did not think that anyone had actually died in the Danger Room, or even been that hurt. It produces real life scenarios and has a surreal feeling to it, but it's all generated. How much danger was in the Danger Room.
Appreciating Shana's offer to teach her how to read, Fade smiled. "Oh, I know I should learn how to read, but I've gotten along just fine since then. I guess I just should know how to sound out things. I don't want this full on English session because I know English, just not how to read or write," the word write pierced her. Wow, she really did not know how to write. Not even little post-it notes. That would explain why she never had a cell phone, she would get so confused with it. "I really only need to know how these letters mix. Like basics, you know?"

"i suppose their are dangerous groups everywhare, prolbely even more so in citys Mutants are known to flock to." she said thinking it would take less for a group to flock around a powerful mutant then it would a normal human. After all the sorta thing usually revolved around power and charisma, with power seeming to win each time.
It seemed as though fade had been ina good number of fights and Shana had a bit of trouble imagining fighting often at all. It did make sence that if you had to fight it was best to try and make the fight as quick as possible. Still even if you cut off the snakes head, it would soon grow more and you would be in the same fight you were in before. "It seems like a good plan" she said not really beleiveing it could work. How could the violence end other vioelnce, though had history not shawn it could. It was strange how some times yo just never thought of these things untill you were talking with somone.
"it must be nice to just be bale to sue your powers freely like that" she said assuming by exercise fade meant use of their powers. That seemed to be what it was for, from her talk with samual as well as fade. " I can see how a room like that might be dangerous, certainly so if your unused to useing your powers to often" she said. She used her powers for small things like eating or doing her hair, but never anything to much heavier and never for a significant purpose.
"It is a good skill to learn, though writing an e-mail is more common these days then real hand writing anyway" she said thinking to herself. "Whatever you feel you need is fine" she tried to assure her, though she felt having a firm grasp on the skills were important she also knew someone could only learn so long as they had interest. "English can be very confuseing with silent letters and the like, but once you get the basics you can normally sound out and determine other words from that" she said standing up and stretching a bit.
