The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

IC: Luke chuckled softly at the bluntness and curiosity of Cailyn's question as well as the fact that she had patted his head. It was strange for someone to ask but at the same time strangely refreshing. Here was a young lady that was perfectly honest and upfront with what she was thinking and wondering.
"My eyes are blind but I can sense things around me." He explained, deciding that for the moment the whole concept of sonar might be a little to technical. "I can't see color but I can see shapes and movement."
One of the positives of Luke's sonar was that he could be watching the race in the pool while still watching Hymn's face and expression. He could even be watching the race while his back was to it. Of course, that wasn't something that he shared with just everyone but it was a nice ability to have in certain situations.
"Do you know how to swim?" Luke asked after he noticed the slightly awed expression on Hymn's face whenever her attention focused more on the other swimmers, "I can teach you if you want."
"My eyes are blind but I can sense things around me." "I can't see color but I can see shapes and movement."
Blind huh? That was a odd way to see. She knew that blind people didn't see the normal way that she herself saw or any other non-blind people in the world but still. He got a very handy power to work around that seemingly. He was one of the lucky ones. She nodded that she agreed what he was speaking about. Seeing things in different ways was something she could relate to. "Do you know how to swim?"
She was still watching the on going race as she was still dripping from the "swim" she had. She turned to luke and pulled a eyebrow. She wasn't much for sarcasm but the answer to that question was pretty obvious. "I can't." She responded as she watched the race again. "I can teach you if you want."
Now that was a interresting proposal. Learning how to swim would be good for her. She pulled a smile as she turned to luke again. "Really?" She asked.

The young woman was smiling which meant that he had done something right. Maybe they were at least part way down the path to her forgetting about his knocking her into the water at their first meeting.
"Sure I can. Just come on over to the shallow end." Luke replied with a smile before kicking off from the side and stroking over to the stairs that led into the shallow end. Just crouching in the three feet of water, Luke kept his body submerged while he waited to see if Hymn would really join him. The fact she wasn't actually dressed in a swimsuit could be a detriment to her learning how to swim but at least she should be able to get down the basics. Already Luke was trying to map out a plan for exactly how he would do it. Teaching Cailyn to just float would be the first thing which would then be followed by a couple of different strokes.
"Sure I can. Just come on over to the shallow end."
The shallow end. The watery place of water that was shallow. She could stand in it though but she was short so eventually the water would be to high for her. She nodded with determination and walked over to the shallow end stairs and put her feat in.
She eventually got the courage and walked into the pool. The first few steps only submerged her to her waist. It was wet but warm. The weather helped ofcourse. She put her hand in as she got into a deeper part. eventually she was half submerged in the water. Luke however was a bit bigger so he wasn't in the same situation. She got used to the water and found it very fun. To bad she couldn't get into the more exciting deep end for swimming action because she couldn't swim yet. She just played around a bit and played in the water until look started the lessons.

Luke smiled for a minute as he watched Cailyn enter the water. It was good to see that she wasn't afraid of the water due to her "near death" experience. In fact she even seemed to like being it if her splashing around and playing meant anything.
"Alright. First thing you need to learn is how to relax and just float." Luke finally instructed, catching Cailyn's attention and beginning his lesson. "Spread your arms wide and then just lean back slowly into the water." He continued, demonstrating the action as he explained it. In a moment he had fallen back into the water and then lifted his legs up so that he was floating on his back. Very slowly and gently his arms moved back and forth along with the occasional kick just to make sure he stayed on the surface.
Suddenly righting himself, Luke stood and walked over to stand near Cailyn for when she tried it. "Ok. You need to kick slowly and gently as well as flap your arms gently like an angel or something." He instructed while he waited for her. As soon as she began working he was planning on slipping his arms under her back to support her until he was sure she had the hang of just floating and staying near the surface. "Ready to try it?"
"Alright. First thing you need to learn is how to relax and just float." "Spread your arms wide and then just lean back slowly into the water."
The lessons began. Pretty strange one, lay on your back on the water. Wasn't water supposed to not carry people. She pondered the thought and decided to give it a try. She could stand up anyways so no big deal. She spread her arms wide and lets herself fals slowly into the water like people would do with a snow angel.
With all odds stacked again her in her own mind, she did it. She actually floated. It was fun too, to slowly float on the water watching the sky. The sky was clear today. She smiled and decided to flop her arms to move. Didn't work though , she sank and she stood up again rubbing her eyes to get the water out.
"Ok. You need to kick slowly and gently as well as flap your arms gently like an angel or something."
Gently was the hint that was supplied. She just flopped her arms like crazy. She tried again but this time gently. She felt like a upside down swimming sea turtle. She giggled at herself for doing this. It was fun to flop around like a upside down sea turtle, until she bumped her head against the side for not watching.

Cailyn had picked up the floating on her back very quickly which was deffinately a good thing. Knowing how to float would make sure she coudl survive in the water, even if she didn't learn any other strokes. Chuckling softly, Luke walked back over to the young woman after she had gently bumped her head against the side of the pool.
"Ok Now that you've got the hang of floating let's try some simple swimming techniques." Luke said as he stood with his back against the side, facing across to the other side of the shallow end of the pool. "The breast stroke is probably one of the easiest to learn. Now, you're going to push into the water, pulling with your arms while kicking with your legs like a frog. Your face will go in the water as you kick and stretch out in order to glide in the water but just hold your breath. Then pull with your arms again and kick like a frog while lifting your head up to take another breath."
Pushing off the side of the pool, Luke demonstrated the technique. His movements were slow and rather relaxed with plenty of time spent just gliding between his kicks. Reaching the other side of the pool he turned and swam bag, this time moving a little faster and covering the area more quickly.
"Ready to try?" He asked once he was back over next to Cailyn, "I'll stay right beside you while you do it."
A big talk of explantion about swimming. This looked like rocket science now to her. Nevertheless she was going for it. Time to learn how to really swim. She thought through the things he said in her mind.
"push in the water, pull your arms while kicking like a frog." She thought. Ofcourse the voices in her head repeated the words she thought and changed them little bits, confusing her. No time to think about it. "here is go." She said a bit unsure of herself.
She pushed into the water. That went well, one part checked of the things to do list. But now came the pulling. She pulled her arms but not in a swimming mater. She pulled her arms like she was pulling a rope and she sank to the bottom of the shallow part. She got back up and tried the same again. This time she floated a bit longer but she still didn't move a inch. She stood up and looked at look. "It didn't work." She said.

Luke watched Hymn carefully and after she went under water a couple of times he tried to figure out how best to explain what she was doign wrong.
"You're not trying to grab an invisble cord or railing and pull." Luke said slowly, brow furrowed in concentration as he tried to think of what to say, "You want to cup your hands. Yeah, cup your hands like you're trying to scoop up the water. Watch."
Demonstrating was much easier than explaining and so in a nice, slow, relaxed motion Luke began to show Hymn what he meant. "Get the idea?" He asked as he stopped swimming and stood back up about six or seven feet away from Hymn, "Think you can try again?"
He explained it again and then showed her what he ment. She got a little bit more of a idea now what to do with the hands and legs. She nodded that she understood what he was trying to teach her. All she had to do was copy it well enough to get it down.
"Think you can try again?"
She nodded again. This time she took a pose that she was ready and waited a few second to try again. She repeated it all in her head again and she pushed herself in the water. She was floaty and cupped her hands to do the same time as luke. It would work if she didn't sink as much. She got 2 scoops of water and then her lower body went down. She stood in the water again and skittered back to the beginning to try again. She tried and tried for around 4 times until she actually got in a few more scoops and didn't sink as fast as she did at the start. Improvement they called it.

"Good. Good." Luke complimented as he watched Cailyn, "Make sure you keep kicking with that frog kick. That'll keep your legs floating and give you more buoyancy all around."
Moving over to the steps, Luke took a seat in the water while he kept a close on the beginning swimmer. She was learning and she wasn't afraid of her face going underwater which were both important parts of being a good swimmer. If she kept practicing here in the mansion pool she'd probably even surprise herself with just how good she could get.
"When you get tired go back to just floating on your back." Luke instructed from his side line location, "That'll help you stay used to the water and staying afloat even if you're to tied to do full strokes and kicks."
"Good. Good." "Make sure you keep kicking with that frog kick. That'll keep your legs floating and give you more buoyancy all around."
She didn't pay much attention after hearing she did good. It was all a matter of trying now. With the tip of her tongue sticking out of her mouth she kept trying, everytime doing just a little bit better. She ofcourse had no clue what it took to actually become a decent swimmer and that she would probably need more lessons afterwards. This lesson for here was really exhausting mainly because of her bad condition. She never got any physical exersice in the asylum, and why would she. She was stuck in a room where the walls where made of pillows. "When you get tired go back to just floating on your back." "That'll help you stay used to the water and staying afloat even if you're to tied to do full strokes and kicks."
The hint that she needed. She was getting tired even though the time she spend wasn't that much. She switched to her back and floated looking at the sky. Still no clouds to see, only blue air. A nice day with lots of sun. If only she new that she would need sunburn for a day like this. She would probably look like a tomato after this lesson.

It seemed that Luke's advice about floating had come at just the right time for Cailyn since she was now taking a break. Copying her motion, Luke began floating also, purposely moving so that he would be near Hymn instead of off by the stairs.
"How long have you been at the mansion? I don't remember ever running into you before." He asked curiously as he bobbed up and down on the small waves caused by other people in the pool while enjoying the heat of the sun on his face and chest. Sure he had to miss out on the beauty of a blue sky but the warmth of the sun was still something that even a blind man could revel in. Fortunately he had already put on sunscreen so there would be no bright cherry days in his future. However for those that hadn't, well, sunburns could be very uncomfortable.
"How long have you been at the mansion? I don't remember ever running into you before."
She was just floating around till luke floated next to her. How did he do that, floating so controled. Did he have secret submarine powers too? Not much do break your head about. Maybe it was luck, maybe it was skill. But then the big question came up. How long was it since she was caught during the party and implied into the x-mansion for "observation." The word made it sound like a zoo. She was still here though because they would help get back to her room in the sanctuary. But for now she would enjoy the mansion.
She counted in her head and said: "a while." The answer ofcourse could be taken in various ways. A while could be a hour, day , week or year with any number in front of them. She herself hadn't been keeping up with the days. People who take note of time will have their lives revolve around plannings and stuff. Not fun for her.

'A while' was quite a vague statement but Cailyn seemed quite satisfied and happy with her response. Even though Luke was tempted to press the issue a little more, he decided to drop it for the time being. If she wanted to share how and when she'd arrived at the mansion that would be up to her. If not, well, it was a beautiful day to be out on the pool.
The race seemed to have finished and as the pool party calmed down to chatting back and forth the water itself was once again leveling out. Sure there was still a gentle bobbing motion created by peoples gentle kicks to stay afloat but that was about it.
"You'll have to make sure to grab yourself some food when you get hungry. I hear Sam is a real master on the grill." Luke said with a slight smile. His sonar swept out, momentarily caressing over his girlfriend Raina. He had been in the pool for a while now and he should probably be heading back over to hang out with her relatively soon. "Don't those burgers smell good?"
