The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Night at the Museum: (Developed with contributions from Luke, Shin, and etc.)
While Tarin was in his coma, I started working a lot with Kealey and I realized that we needed a couple of little plot points that involved the people who aren’t affiliated with the factions. Now that I’ve managed to build Kealey up a little, I don’t want to lose her. Then, I came up with this idea and the Cbox, being full of amazingness helped me flesh it out.
Here’s the idea. One of the museums downtown has opened an exhibit about mutants throughout history. Basically suggesting that some of the strange things that have happened throughout history to certain historical figures have been as a result of their being mutants. (Luke’s Example: George Washington being fired on during the French & Indian War but managing not to get hit at all…that’s because he’s a mutant. Shin had some great ideas too.) That would draw all kinds of people from all kinds of different factions…or no factions at all…interested humans too. Maybe some protesting, angry humans as well.
What better place for the Order to attack?
The reason this would work so well, is that we could pull in characters from all over the place. Obviously the Order would be there attacking, and the X-men wouldn’t miss an opportunity to bring kids from the school to something so positive about mutants, indies would be there because it’s interesting and we could pull our favorite NYPD boys in when the nastiness starts to go down. It really wouldn’t take all that much coordination or work from the mods to get the ball rolling, and people could break off from the main thread whenever they wanted to spawn their own.
I think this would be a perfect little thing to spice up everyone’s spring. Especially since it’s a pretty straightforward plot that involves everyone!
Another side bar idea that Luke pointed out. If the Order doesn't think it's realistic that they would be attacking a pro-mutant exhibit like this...what if they're there checking it out like everyone else, then an anti-mutant gang shows up and starts attacking. Then we can go for that.
Anyone that's interested in this plot, feel free to post an idea and description of a display that you'd like to see at the museum. Do you have a favorite historical character that you think would work well as a possible 'mutant' display? Write it up and if this plot goes ahead we'll do a poll for the most popular 3-5 exibits that will actually be there!
Mediator: One that occupies a middle position and searches for balance.

If there is indeed going to be a thread about historical mutant figures than I believe an essential exhibit would e one which focuses upon Gregori Rasputin. I have include a brief compendium below which details the more eventful periods of the mans life.
Gregori Rasputin
Gregori Rasputin, also known as the Mad Monk, is perhaps one of Russia’s greatest folklore figures. Born in January of 1869 very little is actually known of Rasputins life until he appeared on the country’s political scene in 1905 and gained the current Tsars favour by healing the rulers son, an act which eventually led to an advising role.
Despite his association with the Tsar though Rasputin was not greatly loved by the local populace; this was due mainly to his unorthodox interpretation of the Christian religion, specifically the many mistresses he kept. While the Mad Monk was disliked though he was still tolerated for his perceived abilities such as healing through prayer and the gift of foresight, however any such tolerance for the man swiftly deteriorated when he managed to convince the Tsar, a poor commander at best, to seize control of the army and enter WWI against the wishes of the people. In addition, once the country’s ruler was out on the battlefield Rasputin was able to gain significant sway over the government and proceeded to rapidly devastate the Russian economy, which is ultimately what led to his assassination.
In December of 1916 a collection of Russian nobles, threatened by Rasputin’s power, banded together in an attempt to remove Mad Monk. Their initial attempt was indirect and subtle, relying on the use cyanide to poison their targets meal, several hours after ingesting the toxin though Grigori failed to show any signs of expiration, indeed according to legend the man seemed more jovial than usual. One of the would be assassins panicked at this point, bursting into the room and firing into their targets back at point blank range. Once Rasputin fell and had fallen still the conspirators dispersed to congratulate themselves, upon returning to deal the corpse however the Mad Monk leapt to his feet, briefly strangled his killer, and then took off running. The assassins swiftly gave chase, rapidly closing in on Rasputin and firing upon him again, this time depositing a large caliber bullet in his skill, not content to just leave things be however the group then proceeded to assault the body with a variety of blunt and sharp instruments before finally wrapping Rasputin in a sheet and tossing him off a bridge and into the Neva River. Due to the extreme temperatures of the country however the river had frozen over and thus the monks body merely collided with a thick layer of ice, after much work however the assassins managed to collapse the ice around their target, allowing his body to sink into the frigid waters.
Gregori Rasputin’s body was found three days and a following autopsy revealed that the Mad Monk had died from drowning and, in fact, his arms had frozen in a position which suggested he died while attempting to claw his way through the ice and out of the river.

One thing that I always liked about Gundam Seed was the angle they took on the very first astronaut. What if, in our universe, John Glenn were a mutant? The first man on the moon was also the first mutant on the moon. I think there's potential in this idea.
Another possibility in Amelia Earhart. What if her exhibit postulated her disappearance as part of the appearance of her uncontrolled powers, or related to some greater mutant-related phenomenon. There's the possibility this would be one of the negative responses to famous people being mutants, or the danger of mutants. This could be one example the anti-mutant demonstrators use against the exhibits.
Abraham Lincoln could have had the ability to foresee the future. Just throwing that idea out there. It'd explain his ability to predict the need for change, as well as other events.
The possibilities go on and on.
Why, with moderator approval, we could even have a mutant dinosaur exhibit. The dinosaur wouldn't have the X-gene, of course, but it could have a mutation in the form of an extra toe! That happens in nature all the time.
Although the identity of this mystery killer has never been confirmed the horrific acts committed under his hand have been well documented for over a century. Although a series of brutal murders were executed during the Rippers time in the media limelight only five can be agreed upon by authorities as being conducted by the same hand. The murderer’s manus operandi typically involved two lethal lacerations across the throat followed y varying degrees of damage to the abdomen and groin, in more than one occasion resulting in the displacement or even removal of internal organs.
I was originally going to list each of the five victims but I’m not truly in the mood for such macabre writing. I may edit this post to include such details at a later date but for now you can find all the information you’d want on the subject here.
While there is no immediate indication of what Jack the Rippers mutation could be I myself was leaning towards one of two possibilities; one being that of invisibility/teleportation as it would allow an explanation for how the killer managed to escape each crime scene, sometimes only mere minutes before police arrived. The second option ties into the fact that authorities were never able to identify the weapon used in each killing, the only fact they were able to report reliably was that it would be a bladed instrument at least 8inches in length. Following this vein I thought another possibility would be to grant the ripper claws similar to wolverine or perhaps bone manipulative powers along the lines of Isabel. A possible story to go along with this is that Jack could have experimenting with newly found powers and the killings allowed him to gain a measure of control as well as an in depth understanding of the human skeletal structure.
Another interesting point I would like to make is that a Jack the Ripper exhibit would make a good rallying point for any narrow minded church of humanity type NPC’s who might wish to protest the inherent dangers of mutants to society, especially if they could make a tie between a past serial killer and a certain ribbon wearing mutant of the present day.

Oooo, you guys rock! This is awesome, and I think that there should be both pro-mutant and anti-mutant aspects to the exhibit. It would be just like bureaucrats to overlook the fact that they're putting together points of interest that would draw a potentially volatile crowd!
Having a mutation similar to Jack the Ripper is an idea full of awesome. You are friggin fantastic, Zephyr. <3
The only idea that's really sticking in my head is all those stories you hear about the settlements and civilizations that simply vanished over night. Those, I think, could easily have ties to mutant activity in some way. Teleporters are one of the easiest explanations mutation-wise, but I'm sure there are a ton of other options I'm just not thinking up at the moment.

i think we could make like some scientist or technology advance were cause or discovered by mutants . but why the mutants have to be goods ? some evils characters from history could were mutants . * Like Hitler for example . something that caught my attention about him is that he had a lot of clones , not real clones but actors working for him . then if anyone tried to murdered him probable had killed a clone . perhaps that could be a mutation ... he ¨survived¨ some ¨incidents¨ that could ended with the life of anyone . *Nicola Tesla was an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. He is best known for many revolutionary contributions in the field of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current electric power (AC) systems, including the polyphase power distribution systems and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution. people though about him as a mad scientist en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Tesla#Directed-energy_weapon He is a interesting subject ... *why not a singer ? what about Elvis ? *Isa is alright . a mutant with geo thermal abilities could be the cause of the volcanic eruption in Pompeii or a mutant to control earth or time the cause of the disappear of Atlantis .

Cool... I think this is a great idea!
How about Cleopatra having powers of persuasion/seduction on a mutant-level. I mean, she got every guy to agree with her. Or she could have language powers, because she seemed to be able to learn any language.
Or the Spartans being a race of mutants with strength powers that they purposely bred their people for...
Just thoughts, not really worked them out as well as some of these others. *shrug*
Personally I prefer the anti mutant gang doing the attacking it'd be nice to face off as a united mutie front again.the threads that are big and involve pc vs pc fighting tend to bog down. May I also recomend that this is actually multiple threads and that at least two are completely open? This would enourage movement and make it so that the threads don't get too bogged down
I think the order would actually support this and may even take the opurtunity to recruit. I can see Abyss making a better than youspeech to humanity there and that causing some debate. ranting about how in past cultures we were worshipped as gods.
Mythology is what the humans call historic mutations.
Fantastic idea, Juli! *finally got off lazy butt to read this plot* Tell me what you need of me and I am SO there!
I have to agree with Koga about the Order, I'd like to see a reason for the fight to break out and an anti-mutant protestors would work nicely. They have a history of violence! Ghost got shot by a group of them when she was only trying to protect them!
Some other suggestions for possible mutants:
Keep the ideas and good times rolling MRO. Can't wait to participate in this thread~!
The first President of the United Stated is one of the most beloved figured in American History. A man known for his bravery and honesty, George Washington is the kind of man that most any parent wishes his son might become. But, would America as a whole still feel this way if they knew the startling truth about one of their greatest leaders?
While serving as a an Aide to British General Edward Braddock during the French & Indian War, Washington was involved in mysterious events that only increased his fame. The Battle of the Monongahela was a bloody failure where Braddock was killed while trying to retake the Ohio Country from French control. During the debacle Washingtin distinguished himself by taking over leadership of the men and remaining cool under fire. Though two horses were shot out from under him and four bullets pierced his coat, Washing escaped the battle without a single scratch.
On Christmas Day, December 25th, 1776 the Continental Army made its historic crossing of the Delaware River. In the face of what any military strategist would have said was certain defeat and with problems including two detachments of troops never making it across the river and many arriving far past their scheduled time, Washington's surprise attack was successful. Nearly a thousand surprised mercenary Hessian soldiers surrendered with no American fatalities.
What could have helped this simple man accomplish so many great things? Some would say that luck was on his side. Othere would say that divine providence inspired the man to achieve the impossible. However another school of thought is slowly growing. What if Washington were a mutant? What mutation could have allowed him to win and survive through such historic moments? There is only one answer that fits with both situations and that is the power of propability control. The ability to change the statistics of a situation so that the dice will more often land in your favor.
So as you examine this display we leave it to you to decide. Was George Washing a man touched by a higher power in order to further the progress of this nation or was he simply a mutant, born in the right place at the right time?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero if you scroll down to the see also section you will find a plethora of possibilities to be worked out. my favorite list is from the following link particularly the "known to be fiction list."
