Character
Personality: Chan is generally more concerned with others then himself, this is both his greatest strength and biggest weakness. He has his limits and generally forms stronger bond’s with some then others, but one thing is for sure, he is fiercely loyal and will always defend his friends no matter what. This loyalty has grown to the point of naivety, in some circumstances he puts himself in danger to protect others who don’t care about him like he thinks they do. Incredibly caring and always willing to put a friend before himself, his personality vastly changes on the battle field. Years of fighting for a living have desensitized him to causing pain. Unlike a normal person he doesn’t show mercy in battle and screams of pain are the last thing that will deter him from destroying an enemy. He is incredibly outgoing and loves to engage anyone that seems friend able, this stems from his close knit family in Thailand , he wants to form that kind of bond with everyone he meets which makes him somewhat vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Not exactly the smartest person in the world, he has enough education to get himself by, but does his best in a fighting situation. He is a master tactician when it comes to battle, since his life has been based around it from such a young age. This is the extent of his “Genius” however, struggling with most things academic he tends to seek out help from others rather then become frustrated. He is a strict Buddhist and holds the beliefs very close to his heart, karma is something that he takes very seriously and tries his best to follow the middle way, although his intense caring for others tends to get in the way of that. Hobbies/ Interests: Training, Sparring, Fighting, praying, meditating, meeting new friends and having fun with them. Job or part time job and description: Muay Thai Fighter in Thailand, mixed martial arts fighter in America Fears/ phobias/ concerns: He has a deep fear of water and cannot swim, this stems from the fact that if he gets in deep water with his power he would drown Special talents: Incredibly talented in Muay Thai and speaks fluent Thai
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: He believes in doing what’s right and helping others who can’t help themselves, he is also a strict Buddhist, so his morals are heavily influenced by his religion. Mutations
Mutation description: Chan is a mutant with the superhuman ability to convert the tissue of his entire body into a glue like substance. He has the ability to completely transform his body into it or not at all, he can’t selectively transform parts of his body. He also has the ability to shoot the substance from any part of his body, whether transformed or not. The glue itself is incredibly strong, 10x the strength of super glue, with a thick white color and consistency. It is however incredibly flammable and will burn at an internal temperature of 100 degrees or higher.
Weaknesses:
Fire manipulators and anything that produces things of high temperature *acid, speed, etc* have a near immunity to his ability and if they attack him while in his glue form, it will cause his body to nearly spontaneously combust.
The glue itself is nearly useless in areas of high temperatures, such as a desert or artificially overheated room, any temperature over 100 degree’s risks causing his glue to burn.
When in his glue form, he can’t touch other people or he risks sticking them to whatever surfaces their touching. He also looses the ability to not only move but to be a solid creature. His body become permeable and ever shifting like a giant glue monster.
Secondary mutation description: (if applicable) None as of yet Strengths: N/A Weaknesses: N/A
Fighting Style (if applicable)
Explanation: He is a master of the art of Muay Thai and understands it to all possible degree’s. Pros for fighting style: At close range he is a deadly machine, throwing elbows and knee’s with pinpoint accuracy and the skill to kill. Cons for fighting style: He doesn’t have any skill when it comes to long ranged maneuvers and as such when faced with by a ranged opponent he doesn’t have many options.
Faction Allegiance None Since I haven’t fully joined yet
History Of Your Character: Born 25 years ago in the rugged hill of northeastern Thailand to incredibly poor parents and an overcrowded family. Chan was originally raised in a tribal village, the conditions were utterly third world and nearly guaranteed an early death. The water was dirty, the people weren’t educated and the medicine was far below humane standards, it would seem like there was no future to be had for any of the citizens. Luckily for Chan he grew up a strong young boy which meant his family had the option of shipping him to the Muay Thai training camp at a young age. Already having a pension for fighting and even getting into more then his fair share of scrapes before leaving, Chan was a perfect match for the camp. Only 10 years old at the time, he had no idea what kind of hell he was getting himself into.
The camp wasn’t very far from his home, but still far enough to make travel by walking nearly impossible. It was atop one of the many jungle hills of the Thailand and was completely removed from society; all that vaguely resembled the outside world was the market which was a 10 mile run from the camp. Upon arriving he would quickly be indoctrinated into the lifestyle of a Muay Thai camp. He was up every day at 4 in the morning and would train viciously for the next 14 before going to bed and waking up the next morning to do it again. This would seem inhumane to some people but the fact was that if he didn’t train this hard it was doubtful he would win his fights at the arena in Bangkok that they traveled to each weekend. After winning a few fights at the start and giving some money to the camp and sending the rest home, he was told that the next day he would be having a 3 mile jog to the required school. This was possible due to the money he had one fighting and it was required of all children at the camp who wished to stay. Upon arriving at the school he would realize that a majority of the kids were from richer families and didn’t have to pay for the schooling with Muay Thai fight purses, but that was the reality he had to deal with. It wasn’t the best schooling and would be considered very sub par to American teaching but it taught him what he needed to know, which was English. He planned to some day travel to America and become a prize fighter there, so he could send his family real money, but at this point in his life that dream seemed very far away.
6 years would pass in the camp, each day nearly identical to the day before it; the only release from the constant training was the fights in Bangkok which always revitalized Chan, especially when he got to see the money. He wasn’t really in it for himself; it was more something he could send to his family and the village, if it wasn’t for them he never would have been there in the first place. He had progressed to the top of the fighter chain at the camp due to his constant training and natural size. It was something else however that would help him push to the top. During one of his fights, when things were starting to look bad for the first time in awhile, his body began quickly shifting in and out of the glue state while he fought. It was to fast for the crowd to catch and the arena was to low tech to afford cameras but Chan noticed it. Right before each punch connected, they turned glue then switched back just as quickly. The weird appearance of glue on the opponent after the fight had ended nearly got him disqualified but the judges simply chalked it up to a medical condition the man had. Chan had never been around mutants before so he had no idea what was going on, but he resolved that letting others know could ensure him being disqualified from fighting, which meant no more money for his family. Instead he would practice this ability in private over the next 8 years, training it while the others slept or weren’t looking.
At the age of 25 he had gotten as far as he would ever get in the Muay Thai circuit, he had become the grand champion of many arenas and held the belts as his trophy. It was time for him to switch to the American fighting circuit and he knew it. Using some of his winnings he would buy a plain ticket to the New York City where he heard from a tourist “all the action happens.” He knew that he would have to return to Thailand every so often to defend his titles, but as grand champion his matches would be few and far between , most of his opponents would have to be approved by him before the match began as a show of their humility. Arriving in New York he would buy an apartment with other winnings and settle into the city, the next day would be the first day of his brand new life.
Role-play Where did you learn about this site? Search engine Do you have any other existing characters, if so who: Nope Sample RP:
I did a sample rp of his life before moving to America
There was no clock on the wall but Chan knew it was time to wake up because underneath the small wood shack in which he slept, two stray dogs were fighting and off in the distance the roosters were booming their early morning wake-up call. Sitting up on the cement floor, he would look around to notice some of the other boys. All between twelve and twenty five years of age, they had already begun breaking down their mosquito nets. It was four o’clock and he knew that back in the tribe his mother, father and siblings were still asleep, getting their rest for a hard day of labor. It had been over a year since he had last seen them and he longed for the smells of home, the hours running free through the jungle. Life back there was kind, but with no money for education his options were few. Chan’s parents knew his life would get progressively harder as the years went by and they made the difficult choice to send him away. The twelve boys with whom he shared his hut with were his family now. He went to them when he was sad or in need of advice, just as they did with him. It warmed him to see that most of them had smiles on their faces at this early morning hour.
Following the crowd out into the darkness, the trainers were off somewhere, but for the first part of the morning he needed no supervision. He knew exactly what was expected of him, so he began to run. Across the cement platform that held two rings and a dozen punching bags, down a winding trail, through the jungle and out onto the road. His legs were sluggish from the day before and his lungs were just as tight, but all the motivation he needed was the boy directly ahead. He matched his strides and eventually his legs would warm and his lungs would loosen. After an hour or so meandering through the mountains, enjoying the wildlife the took to hiding until the sun came up, he finally returned to the camp and his ten kilometer warm up was done.
Hunger pains set in, but he would push them aside. Following his twelve brothers into the ring, training would begin immediately. Shadowboxing was where he would start, throwing jabs, uppercuts, elbows, kicks and knees into the open air. He began to visualize an opponent, but instead of throwing knockout blows, he danced around him, focusing on grace, timing and fluidity. For fifteen minutes he became a butterfly and then he climbed out of the ring and took position in front of one of the heavy bags dangling from a rusted steel pole. Rain came suddenly and pounded down on the straw roof, filling the open air gym with freshness..
