The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gabe handed the driver the alotted amount, and stepped out of the cab. The driver said something about having to drive so far, so late, but Gabe ignored him. The mansion was huge. Easily the biggest house Gabe had ever seen. He looked at the front gate, noting it said something about a school for the "gifted". He shrugged, and headed up the front drive.

The early morning intestine-rendering runs of training wore at his side. Jogging along in his white sweatpants and tank top, Tetsuya Shinbo dashed the mansion grounds. As he ran along, he considered his plans for the day. More training. Stop by at the dojo. Maybe a danger room session to round everything off? Then studying for class… After he was drop-dead tired, of course. Shin always felt that his mind focused on bookwork better when he was ready to pass it. Sort of a ‘deathbed scramble’, He thought to himself as feet touched down on driveway. Clip clop clop clip, he glanced up and saw Gabe.
“Well, hello there.” Feet pounded in place as he paused in his jogging to give the man a greeting. “Just looking? Yeah, window shopping is fun.” Big grin. Always be nice to strangers. Old Japanese rule. They might be your ancestors… Or maybe he was getting that culture mixed up in his mid-morning brain. Those feet of his pounding into the ground didn’t do much to jog his thoughts.

Gabe looked at the man that had replaced his running with jogging in place to greet him. The guy looked like he had been running for awhile.
"Um...not exactly window shopping, but this mansion is amazing."
Gabe extended his hand to the young man.
"The name's Gabe. I was sent here by a friend because I needed someplace to live for a little while so I could get back on my feet. She said something about asking for a guy named Sam. Do you know him?"

A handshake. Shin accepted it. As he shook it, he listened. He watched Gabe carefully, but hid the critical look well. At the mention of Sam’s name, some of that doubt shrouding his mind vanished. He let go of Gabe’s hand, nodding.
“Yeah, I know Sam. If you want, I could let you into the mansion and help you find him.” Better that than letting him wander around. Ever since that anti-mutant riot at the book store, he’d been a little mistrustful of people. Still… he smiled politely, exuding all the positive aura in the world. “What do you say?”

Smiling to hide the fact that the young man had decided not to tell Gabe his name, he dropped his hand in to his hip pocket. He looked from Mr. No-Name up to the house.
"Well, I guess you showing me around would be better than stumbling around blindly. I appreciate the help. Lead the way."
Gabe held out his hand, and waited for the man to head towards the house.

“Will do,” Shin shrugged, letting his hands do the talking while his feet did the walking. “This way. Follow me.” He jerked legs into motion, leading the way to his home, the X-men’s castle.
The pair brushed past a group of students in the main hall. They all mingled and talked, set into their little social groups, like tiny islands of people in a social sea. Shin turned back to Gabe with a smile. “Looks like class just got out. We might be in luck…”
At a time like this, Sam would probably be in his office. Shin shot a glance towards Gabe, then nodded. “Yeah, let’s check the office.” Once again, he led the way. Through hallways, and up a winding staircase, then back down another staircase they went. Was he just leading Gabe on a wild goose chase? No. After stumbling around the mansion for a bit, Shin once again found that office-of-offices. The shared office of Shawn and Sam.
That “really cool office”, quote unquote. Shin rapped three times at the door.

Just coming from the bathroom in Sam and Streak’s fortress of solitude Sam walked over to the couch and plopped down and turned on the television. As soon as the television turned on Sam frowned at it, “what the hell is this?” Sam wondered as he looking at a downward angle at what looked like Shin and a new mutant. “A crappy afternoon special?” Sam asked himself as he looked to the clock and realized class was out, “Oh right business hours…” Sam got up from his couch and walked over to the large exit that split open with the approach of Sam.
Walking through the opened wall Sam turned in a satisfied grin as the wall quickly closed and hid it’s self in a silent ‘whoosh’ he loved that sound. Another sound quickly sounded on the door as a familiar sound of someone knocking on the old oak door. Sam ran over to his desk and jumped into his chair and quickly pulled some files out to make it look like he was doing something.
Waiting a second Sam nodded to the empty desk that sat across from him that was streaks and the three large leather chairs that sat directly in front of his own desk, “It’s Open!” Sam called out to the two mutants that he was sure were on Streak’s security camera moments before.

Gabe stepped through the doors of the office. The room was big, compared to what he was used to, to be called an office. But it did hold two desks. He looked to the man behind the occupied desk, who was motioning to the chairs in front of his desk. Gabe looked over at the guy who had showed him up here, and than stepped inside.
"My name is Gabe. Lee sent me here saying I could find someplace to crash for awhile. Are you Sam?"
Gabe just came straight out with it. He didn't like to skate around questions, so he just dropped them whether people liked it or not. He walked over to the desk, and sat in one of the chairs across from the desk.

Shin walked into the office and seated himself, grabbing that classic pen and slouching down in the chair. He looked from Sam to Gabe, then sat back up straight, twirling the pen between his index fingers. It seemed like his job of helping Gabe find Sam was finished. He wasn’t needed here anymore. He was done. Still, that didn’t stop him from sitting and waiting politely and patiently for Sam to handle the paperwork, then follow that up with the introduction tour to the mansion. No, it did not.
He was also curious what Gabe could do. And so he sat, and he waited. He also nodded once. And that was that.

Grinning at the name of Lee Sam extended a hand to Gabe, “Yes I am Sam, place to crash is it?” Sam asked as he sat back down. He looked over to Shin and nodded to him slightly in thanks for bringing Gabe to his office and like always he welcomed Shin to stay for the meeting. It seemed as of late that Shin has been around more and more during these types of meetings. Sam grinned at the thought of having him as an assistant, ‘would come in handy he always seems to beat me to the new residents…’ thought Sam.
Looking into his drawer full of papers and folders Sam pulled a fresh one from his desk and put it in front of Gabe then pulling a pen and placing it in front of him Sam smiled, “Well Gabe if you need a place to crash you’ll need to fill this out, mainly asks for name, D.O.B., powers, anything regarding allergies and the like, it’s mainly for safety purposes, last thing we want is anything to happen to one of our residents.”

Gabe shook the mans hand, now much more comfortable since the man obviously knew Lee. He looked at the man who had led him in here, still not knowing the man's name. He than looked at the stack of papers Sam had handed him. He shuffled through the pages, and lifted a pen. He filled the stack out, placing down his name, D.O.B., and the like. When he had finally signed the last page, he pushed it back across the desk.
"I think I got everything. I just have one question. On the gate, what does the whole 'Gifted Youngsters' thing mean? Lee didn't really give me any heads up as to what I was heading into here. She just said you could help me out."
Gabe sat back in the chair, and waited for the reply.

“Well,” Shin spoke up. “Gifted youngsters can mean a lot of things. For some, it means ‘mentally gifted’, for others, ‘physically’. Others still… ‘kinetically.’ Basically, it’s referring to our students here as special. They all have gifts, whether they like them or not.”
“The name’s Shin, by the way…” Shin extended a hand to Gabe, suddenly realizing in all the hustle and bustle he’d neglected to introduce himself. "Nice to meet you."

Nodding slightly to Shin’s response Sam lifted his hand and made it start to turn blue with ice, which gave a cool breeze off, “Gifted youngsters” Sam said with a smile looking at Shin, “That’s what Shin meant and the sign meant.” He smiled to Gabe and waved his hand as the ice disappeared.
“Considering Lee sent you to find me I assumed you were a mutant, because that’s what we mean by Gifted Youngsters,” he grinned and pulled out a map and pamphlet and a map, ”This is a school and something like a boarding house for our kind, we try our best to meet with everyone’s needs in the house hold.” He pointed to the map, “we have classrooms and training facilities that are scattered around the mansion that we use to help mutants gain control over their abilities.
Smiling, “That's basically why we are here to help those that need it even f it’s just looking for a place to crash!”

Gabe took the hand, smiling. Finally, a name. As Shin answered the question he had directed at Sam, Gabe nodded. He turned back to Sam, only to see Sam's hand was blue, and giving off a cool breeze. His hand was freezing to ice, but it obviously wasn't cold enough to freeze human skin. They'd all be in a litle bit of pain if that were true.
"Mutants, huh? Well then, your right. I am a mutant. I'm a pre-cog. And I have another power. It's kinda hard to explain. Basically, I point my finger at you, whether in general, or a specified body part, and send a mental suggestion that you are in pain. The thing is, it puts you in such pain that you believe my suggestions. When I have finished, there isn't any showing of damage. No physical or mental damage whatsoever. I have finished school, but can I take advantage of the training to better control my abilities? I'd really appreciate that. Now, where am I staying?"

(OOC: permission given to skip Shin this round)
Smiling at Gabe Sam pulled a key from his key rack and smiled to shin, “Think Shin is capable showing you around, unfortunately.“ Looking at his watch Sam smiled to both of them and said, “I have more work to do.” Sam said looking at one of the drawers that was full of paper work that he had been neglecting to do for the last couple months.
Looking back to Shin Sam smiled and said, “Hope you don’t mind showing him around Shin?” Sam asked curiously. Now looking back to Gabe Sam pushed his chair from under himself and extended his hand, “If you can help it try to refrain from using your pain mutation, not to many residents here are a big fan of pain and I don’t think they would thank you…” grinning now Sam said, “It was nice meeting you Gabe.”
