The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Alex strode down the street briskly. It was a rather chilly afternoon, and Alex was off work so he thought he would follow up on something.
He had had several connections to this place called the Sanctuary lately. It had come up when he was talking to Lori in the cathedral, it was apparently the Sanctuary Doors that he had seen hanging in the Xavier Sister School's gates, and he had watched as the aura wielding mutant Rena had run into the doors after fleeing the gas station. So, Alex had decided to come check it out.
Alex walked up to the massive doors and paused, looking up. He wasn't quite sure whether he should just walk in or whether he should knock. How he would actually make a noticeable noise on these doors, he didn't know. Shrugging, he raised his fist and knocked on the doors. If someone was on the other side they would probably hear it.
Rena was getting ready to go outside for some fresh air, Gathering her long hair back, she quickly tied it, into a high pony tail, she had only been in the Sanctuary for a few days but still she felt at home around her fellow mutants, throwing on a slightly to small form fitting black top, she realized she would need to replace the clothing she had brought, she had grown somewhat in the past few years after all. Straightening her black skirt, she pulled the pink ribbon tie tight, before walking toward the door when she heard knocking on the other side.
Opening the Door the emerald eyed woman, was a bit surprised to see brainstorm at the door, though giving it a quick though, he had helped them out at the book store. Giving a polite smile she tilted her head. "I remember you, though the name escapes me." Rena could be forgetful with names of people she did not meet well, in fact Aliases usually stayed in her mind much better then actual names. "Is their something i can help you with?" She asked politely, she did not believe he was an x-men, and so she moved aside to make room for the Mutant to enter. Her venture into the front yard forgotten, as this was much more interesting.

The doors opened to reveal the girl from the gas station and the bookstore. Alex smiled at her, which she returned, tilting her head as she did so."I remember you, though the name escapes me."
Alex nodded. "Alex Roberts. Pleased to meet you. I am sorry, but you're name escapes me as well."
"Is there something I can help you with?"
Alex nodded as he stepped into the building. "It is more a curiosity than anything. I saw these doors at a scuffle up at the mutant mansion north of here, and I saw you run into them after escaping the gas station across the street. Not to mention that I have heard alot about this Sanctuary, and well, figured I might as well check it out." Alex looked around to study the foyer. It was fairly impressive. He nodded to the secretary he spotted working at a desk on the far side, then turned back to the girl. "So... what's it like here?" He figured a general question should go first. He had no where to go, and was quite curious of who would put gold doors on what was supposedly a homeless shelter.
"Alex is it? I am Rena or aura, I am glad to meet you under better circumstances then our last few encounters, come in" She invited happily. She waited until he entered the building and listened to his words after that. "I have only been here a week, but i am very happy with it. Still weird living with a rood over head though" She said trailing off a bit. "They took me in and provided me with a room, despite my past issues." She explained, and it was true they had given her shelter, despite the various people she had wounded or killed.
As she walked deeper into the Foyer she walked to a table she had been sitting at before she decided to go out, a long forgotten quest now. Her mind only now wrapped around the words scuffle down at the mansion, she wondered what he could have meant as she had missed the entire event. Still the idea if a fight always drew her interest. "i don't know of the fight you mean, but i am rather new to this area and to Sanctuary" she said, still curious on the fight. Fighting had been hammered into her personality as well as striking as a reflex, so that one did not have to think about their move, it just happened.

"I have only been here a week, but i am very happy with it. Still weird living with a roof over head though... They took me in and provided me with a room, despite my past issues"
Alex nodded. That matched with what he had heard. "So it is basically like a mutant community center, sort of. Is there anything else, or is it just bedrooms and a cafeteria." Alex wasn't really sure what he was looking for, but he was curious and this place looked like it would be interesting. It was certainly a center for mutant activity, and it couldn't hurt to have contacts.
"I don't know of the fight you mean, but I am rather new to this area and to Sanctuary."
"Well, it was several weeks ago. I was heading out to check out the...uh...Xavier Sister School. I never got a chance to go to college, and unfortunatly, prejudices are still fairly high against mutants getting in, so I heard that they offered courses and wanted to check it out. I arrived to find that there was a massive battle royal going on, apparently over those doors, which had been stolen and hung on the gates to the mansion. Anyway, I got mixed up in the fight, but came out not too much worse for the wear." Alex nodded, a bit winded by his long explanation. He turned to look back at the doors. "Do you know where they came from? I mean, someone had to have donated them or something."
"Well Their are bedrooms, and a dining room with cooks who will make you what ever you want, Im still not use to actually having so many choices on Food, but their is a large recreational center as well. Theirs also a cathedral and a training area to help hone your powers, and it's filled with mostly mutants, to me that's a heaven in itself" She said with a smile. She had enjoyed her stay so far for many reasons.
She shook her head "I do not, but i spent the last 6 months trying to survive on my own, I only went to school until i was 13. Still I am not surprised you would have trouble getting in, Humans want to keep us down, because their afraid we will become to smart. More to the point though, the first time i found this place was when i tried to rob that gas station, since then i lived here. Though i do wish i had your luck, that had to be a lot of fun to be thrown into that!" She said her eyes brightened and her excitement was obvious at the idea of a massive fight. She had missed larger fighting the past few months.

Alex nodded as Rena told him about the Sanctuary. It sounded like a rather well-kept community center. Might be a good place to meet other mutants, though he wasn't sure on their policy of letting non-residents in. Hmmm...
Alex smiled when she went on about the humans 'keeping the mutants down'. It sounded like something a old black woman would say when complaining about whites. His smile vanished when he thought about the fact that Rena had probably had more traumatic life experiences in her life than any of the old black woman who would be sitting around on porches. He frowned at the end of her speech though, about wanting to have joined the fight.
"If it was against humans, I might understand, but it was mutant versus mutant, and I really don't think that is the kind of fighting we need. It's like stabbing someone while the two of you are sitting in a bunker getting bombed. Not productive." Alex flushed when he realized he had been ranting a bit at her. "Sorry, I just, well, I really don't like mutant infighting." He smiled sheepishly, and then shook his head. "Anyway, do you know if I am allowed to be walking around here if I am not a resident? I don't want to intrude on anyone, but I think it would be great to meet more mutants. The only mutant I really know well is my landlady."
"That's true i suppose mutant infighting is sad, but it is also inevitable, as people will always disagree. I simply enjoy the fight and mutants tend to make better opponents, not as easy to take out. Still i think i see what you mean, it is a shame we must fight our brethren every now and then but regardless though people will always fight, the stronger will survives" She said simply as she walked further into the Foyer. Turning when he continued talking.
"It makes sense not to wish to fight your kind, but sometimes that is what you must do as our paths force us to interact and disagree with each other. The Fist fight has certainly grown more dangerous though" she admitted with a smile. She did wish all mutants agreed with her, but she also knew this to be impossible. They were superior to Humans in most area's but the need to compete and the want for power would drive them to war just like humans.
"Anyone is aloud to walk around here,Sanctuary functions much like a large homeless shelter, mutants tend to flock here. Your not intruding on anything here. People come and go as they please, i ran here and they gave me a room despite my past. It is relatively peaceful because who wants to try anything in front of a mansion with dozens of mutants in it at any one time?" Aura truly believed it would be suicide to attack such a place.but people did through their life's a way every day.
""I know some people here but my mutant friends are dead from before when we met at the gas station" She said, not for the first time thinking back on the old group, it had been a hard life bu she had enjoyed it. Though she was sure she wanted to avoid wooded area's if possible.

Alex nodded. The two of them may have had a difference of opinion regarding mutant-mutant violence, but they had a similar opinion about human-mutant interactions. Mutants were superior, though there were many that had some admirable traits to make up for their lack of ability.
"So..." He didn't really know what to ask about. He ahd come to get answers about the point of the Sanctuary and its history, but it seemed like a normal community center. Except,...
"Do you think I could see that training area? I have been training myself in some of the junkyards, plenty of breakable stuff there, but it might be useful if I could come here to train." Alex wasn't sure if it would be allowed. He still wasn't convinced there wasn't a catch to staying here. He always felt that it was stupid of the people who ran community centers to give away stuff for free to people who couldn't or wouldn't pay them back. He doubted that whoever ran this place was stupid, if they were able to keep mutants, who were probably in desperate straits, in line.
"Um sure, actually i enjoy hanging out there myself to work on my ability. From what i have seen you could be very deadly in a junkyard. But if you like we can head there now, i have been wanting to work on improving what i can take against my aura, i can control it well enough but the raw force it can take is much to low" She said shaking her head before realizing she had gone out on a tangent. Then, she smiled gently,a dn shrugged as she went on. "You can help me out with that or Use the equipment, they have drums of various weight you could try and lift.......then again does your power really depend on that?" She asked honestly curious.
"This place is hard to believe you know? My first instinct was to distrust it, but one of the people here saved me from the cops after we ran from Sam and the that girl...."She said trying to recall the water girls name."All i can say is, i would love to see humans try and picket this place" SHe said with a laugh as she lead him down the hall indicating to the receptionist he was with her.
