The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I have to admit, I'm impressed," Mike said quietly. "From what Emmy told me, Johnny beat the hell out of that Bloodfang character... probably the only thing he's ever done I approve of," Mike mused, leaning comfortingly into Daria.

Daria smiled and stroked his hair. She hated to speak what she was about to say but 'family' as a unit was important to her.
"There's hope for everyone I guess. You just have to find something that motivates you. Emmy can be to Johnny what you and I are to eachother. Another reason to try and change a little." she sighed. A rat scuttled from the hall into their cell and Daria eyed it curiously.

"Well, I'll save hoping for that until we're out of here," Mike sighed. Silently he wished his powers were working... then he suddenly was too frustrated to not try to resist.
He focused, trying to push his powers out, trying to expand his mind like he SHOULD be able to do. Slowly the rage built up... his power being suppressed wasn't NATURAL. They had NO RIGHT to hold it back.
He smiled in satisfaction and stopped when he saw the lights in their cell dim. They could do this.

Daria noticed the light change and smiled a bit more but her hope wasn't that strong. She was scared, not by the circumstance-they'd been in worse situations in her opinion-she was scared that she was ready to just...go.
The rat neared them since they were still and Daria felt her claws itching. She wasn't sure if they would unsheath but she decided she had to force them if anything was to happen.
She kept her eye on the rat slowly and discreetly moving one of her arms from Mike. With one fell sweep of her hand she brought it down on the rat relying completely on her ears and nose since she really couldn't see. She was silent for a moment before she became aware of the sensations in her body. Her arm hurt because she had stretched the wound that was forming a scab....but the rat wasn't moving and her hand was wet. The air was filled with the smell of blood and she brought her hand back to see that she had sucessfully impaled the rat through it's face.
Her refelxes were still slow-she had meant to catch it's tail. But her claws could unsheath, just painfully so.

Mike kissed the back of her head... honestly in too much pain to crane his neck around to her cheek. "And honestly, I feel like I'm blind... but we'll get out of here," he said, quietly. "He's seriously underestimated us... and that's going to be his last mistake."

"Have you tried teleporting lately? I mean, seriously tried to force it?" Mike asked pointedly. Daria's mutation, while not as obvious to casual observers, was extremely powerful, and he knew it. He also knew that once they broke free of whatever restraints were on their power, he could counter the effects of any drug they tried to pump into either of them.
"Just try to rest yourself until tonight," he whispered. "Just keep focused on tomorrow, when there won't be any sessions waiting for you, no drugs in your body, and a healer will have taken care of all the injuries. Just keep focusing on that if you need something to focus on."

Mike smiled sheepishly... though he wasn't sure how, exactly, that worked with his face in its current condition. "Believe it or not, that's what I've been focusing on, too."

Mike kissed her forehead. "No, baby. We're not going to die here. We've got a long, long time together ahead of us. We might be stuck in here right now, but we're stuck here together... and so far, there hasn't been anything that the two of us haven't been able to get through together," he told her quietly.

Daria wasn't calmed by the idea but it was all she could do to stay calm. She needed to and Mike needed her too. She just sobbed silently in the dimness of the cell.

Mike held her and stroked her hair, counting the hours even after she finally dozed off against his chest. He pretended to be asleep as well, but honestly couldn't manage it, so he just kept a silent watch for the guards that never seemed to come.
Finally, after the lights were turned out, he gently shook her awake. "Baby, it's time," he whispered.

Daria's sleep was very light anyways and she immediately remembered where she was. She assumed it was safe to show she could get up. She only sat up though, immediately hissing and spitting as the scabs on herb ody stretched and ripped. But she managed not to scream.
"What do I have to do exactly?" she asked, her head pounding.
