Amidst a battle it was always good to have a place one could go and get treated for ones wounds. This place for the X men and their large and almost oversized mansion would most likely be the infirmary, a large spacious part of the building with the infamous doc proff there to heal all of you wounds. He also had many assistants, all ready and rearing to go to help anyone that was dragged in from the battle. Which was a good thing they were because there currently two unfortunate souls that got pretty beat up in the battle being hauled in by a certain werewolf and her foxling sister?

Emerald had taken Luke from Ruby when he had gone unconscious as he proved to be dead weight and too much for the fox girl. She had both Raina and Luke slung over each of her shoulders. The wolven female placed both onto the stretchers and let the doctors rush over to them to treat their wounds. When Emerald released Raina from her grasp she had come to notice something…she couldn’t feel her left hand. The female glanced down at her hand and realized that she had frostbite on the hand she had grabbed Raina with. She inwardly cursed to herself and would have rushed over and treated her hand, if Ruby hadn’t gotten to her first.

”EMMY!” The fox girl exclaimed in fright, rushing over to her older sibling with worry clear on her face. The younger girl managed to get her sister to sit down onto a chair and sit still while she got a bowl and filled it with warm water. She watched as her elder sibling placed her now yellowish skinned hand into the bowl. “Now leave it in there until it turns pink again!”

Emerald nodded to her younger sibling a small smiled creeping across her face. “Yes doctor Ruby.” Emerald responded with that wolfish smile of hers.

Emerald picked up the bowl of warm water and walked as close as she could get to Raina and Luke without being knocked over by doctors. She was worried about the two and she was also considerably shaken by the cold she had experienced from Raina. It still showed upon her lupine looking face of hers that she was still shaken from the core about that.

”Emmy are you okay?” Ruby asked, taking her sisters non frost bitten soaking hand.

”Yeah I’m Fine Ruby just worried about them that’s all.” Emerald responded, trying to come off as absolutely alright.

”Emerald…are you sure? I know you really don’t like the cold and after what Fusionist did, I surprised you can even go out in the cold sometimes.” Ruby told her older sister in all honesty.

Emerald shrugged her shoulders. “Cant let something like that run my life, I just have to wear a few more layers that’s all! Or be in my wolf form, that form is much warmer.”

Ruby glanced at the doctors as they were working on the two. “Do you think they will be okay?”

”I’m sure they will be.”

Raina was in trouble... she was surrounded by flames and her screams of pain sounded identical to the note she had been singing while out on the mansion lawn. This couldn't be happening today. Not on Raina's birthday!

"She's dieing and I can't save her." Luke screamed into the oppressive darkness and surrounded him on every side. This wasn't the blindness had had experience all of his life... this was a thick blackness and seeped into every pore. "Why?! Why couldn't I do more?!"

The heart monitor was racing as Luke lived the nightmare that filled his mind. Sweat poured from his body, saturating his clothes as well as the sheets on the bed as he lay deathly still and pale. At the moment that his body was ready to give out Doc Prof began his work. Within seconds the blind man's heart rate was decreasing and he seemed to be calming.

As the Doc stepped away Luke's eyes snapped open, staring sightlessly at the ceiling above him.

"Raina... is she OK? Did you take care of her first!" Luke asked with obviously urgency in his voice as he sat up, trying to orient himself to where he was. He had never been to the mansion infirmary so he felt lost but he knew Doc Prof's voice as someone he had seen at the X-Men meeting.

"Where am I? How did I get here?!"

The world had gotten darker and scarier in the few moments that Luke had been unconscious. His mind wanted to jump at every shadow and while a part of him even wanted to scream, the disciplined side maintained its grasp on reality. He hadn't died but he hadn't been able to save Raina either. He had passed out and collapsed before he could get to her. But that girl... the fox girl she had said that her sister...

"Miss Ruby?" Luke's mind finally remember the words that had penetrated his brain before darkness had claimed him. Swiveling his head to face the young fox, his expression was one of concern and worry, "Is Raina... is she OK?"

Naveed had started off carrying Raina away from the battle but somehow Emerald ended up with her and led the way. It made sense to Naveed since he didn't know his way around the infirmary at all. He looked from Emerald to Ruby as they got Raina and luke situated. There was something about these two girls. He knew he hadn't met them before but there was something errily familiar.

As he helped one of the assistance prop Raina on a table he watched as they took her vitals. He glanced back to Emerald. "I'm Naveed by the way." he introduced. "I'm Raina's older brother. And not much of one I gather if I couldn't even get her help by myself." he frowned and pulled his eyebrows togeather. "We've got an old trick back home for frost bite..." he mentioned thinking of him home in the north. "If you ah... stick your hand either under your armpit or in between your legs the heat output is greatest in those two areas of your body. It can help soothe that awful feeling ...." he looked away. Did he just tell her to stick her hand in her armpit or in between her legs?! Smooth Naveed. Real Smooth.

"Will Raina be Ok?" he asked the doctors.

"it looks like it." answered a smalll roundish man. "She tapped into her mutation on an alarming level. Probably something she hadn't done before. She's just dehydrated and exhausted. We'll keep her here over night for observation with an IV drip..." he was reaching for the drip.

"BE CAREFUL MAN!" yelled Naveed putting his arms across his sister who had now been redressed in one of those thin hospital dresses. "If you get her wet she'll turn fish!" he spat at the little man.

The little man simply pushed his glasses furthur up on his nose. "I'm well aware of Raina's mutation. She wont get wet externally. An IV goes directly into her vain. She'll be fine." he muttered shooing Naveed out of the way so he could work.

Naveed took a step back next to Emerald and watched as Luke awoke.

Raina knew she was in the infirmary before she even had the ability to wake up. She could smell that sterile smell and while her body laid sedated so she could recover it was all she could do to endure the mental war she was having that wanted her to run from the building. She had to keep chanting in her mind like a mantra that this wasn't Dr. Che. She wasn't about to die. She was just a little weak. Nobody was going to hack her open to see what profits could be made.

She could hear Emmy and Ruby. She even thought she heard Naveed. She was vaguely aware of the poking of this and the prodding of that but everything was too heavy to lift.

What a great freaking birthday. Everything started out so swell. She wished bumping into Flloyd could happen all over again- that seemed a million times better than what she had to endure later. She should have never complained.

Then again, Karama always got her when it had the chance.

Emerald glanced over at Naveed when he told her about the various ways that she could cure her frostbite besides the bowl of warm water. She smiled lightly at him, letting out a laugh at him looking away. She though it was funny that he acted all embarrassed over something a small as that. Besides, he knew what he meant and luckily Emerald didn’t really take take to things like that. The wolf girl wasn’t immature like most people pegged her to be.

“Good advice but I'm just gonna mess around with my bowl of water.” Emerald aimlessly made the water in the bowl rock back and forth without touching it. She then made a small water bunny out of some of it, allowing her plenty of water to still soak her hand in. The female was obviously bored and since she didn’t have her paddle ball she would need to get the next best thing and using her water powers always had a calming effect on her.

”Oh nice to meet you Naveed, names Emerald and that’s Ruby” Emerald pointed over at the little fox girl. Emerald was still shaken from the cold she had experienced from Raina and had been trying her best to block out the occasional shudder that went through her body because of it. The flashes of memories didn’t help matters to much ethier. “Naveed….wait do you know a girl named Sapphire? She told me about you one time, that’s my older sister. Apparently you are the only person she is actually nice to.”

Ruby on the other hand had to deal with Luke waking up. Luckily the calmer more composed of the Lupin sisters had been addressed so Ruby could attempt to ease the worries Luke had.

“She will be fine mr Luke! She should be just fine she may be unconciesses for a little bit though just wait and rest okay?” Ruby told him her sweet little voice soft and soothing.

Raina was OK... she was going to be fine. With a great sense of relief Luke slowly leaned back against his pillows, allowing his body to just relax for a few moments. It was a strange experience being healed from almost certain death and, having heard about Doc Prof's abilities, Luke had to wonder what the Doctor thought of how he had been injured. Obviously defending the mansion was important but would the Doctor have any comments about his technique?

"Probably not... he's a doctor. They focus on healing, not fighting." Luke thought to himself before swiveling his head over so that his hazy blue eyes would be looking towards Ruby once again.

"I... uh... don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Luke Jacobs. X-Men member and friend of the school. You are?"

Obviously he knew her name was Ruby but other than that he didn't know anything else. Did she live here at the school? Did she life off site? Was she a student or was she part of the teaching staff? She seemed to be a little young for that kind of position but you never knew with a mutant.

Ruby smiled lightly at Luke letting out a tiny giggle. She wondered if she sounded older or something, because if she did that would make her happy. The little fox girl perked up her ears a little and swished her tail back and forth happily at Luke. The Fox girl was sure he was a student, or maybe a teacher who worked around here. What she did know was that he was obviously miss Raina's boyfriend.

"Oh, Im Ruby Lupin, Robotics expert, 14 years old and I live here at the mansion as well as at my parents house on holidays. I'm here with my older sister Emerald who is seventeen. We have been here for about a year now."

"Yeah... I remember Sapphire." said Naveed trying to not let the blush come across his cheeks. He looked an awful lot like his sister when he blushed which incadently looked an awful lot like their mother. "She was... intersting. I hope she's doing alright."

He turned his attention to Ruby who was scampering over to this Luke character. Naveed felt his jaw pull taught and his eyebrows crease. This was the guy.

Somehow, he was happier when he was delusional thinking Streak was the mutant she was talking about. He'd seen Streak in action, he was still in action out there. While seemingly blind guy was lying here in the infirmary. He was blind, wasn't he? Naveed was sure he saw him with sun glasses on inside at the party. He gave a sigh- yeah, he woulda liked Streak better.

He came up behind Ruby. "Now then Ruby." he said placing his hands on the young girls shoulders. "I'd like to have a little chat with Mr... Luke was it?" he eyed Luke. He was doing everything in his power to seem bigger, stronger, and scarier. "Will you go get some new clothes for Raina? Emerald can tell you where her room is. Just a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt will be good. I think they already cut her birthday dress off. I don't think it's salvagable."

He waited for the youngster to take the hint and turned his attention to Luke. He knew the guy was in no state to be hazed by the almost-girlriend's older brother. But Naveed was the older brother. He did have some-what of a job to do here. And why not intimidate while passing the buck?

He leaned down so that a portion of his long black hair spilled over his shoulder as he placed his chin on his giant knuckles resting on his elbows, resting on his legs. He sat on the stool close to Luke and his dark eye bore holes into Luke. "Now Luke." he said sternly. "if you're going to date my sister you're going to have to take a hell of a lot better care of her."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Ruby." Luke replied with a slight smile toward the young canine female, "I look forward to seeing your robots some day."

It looked like maybe he were about to enjoy some rest and maybe a nice conversation with the young girl when suddenly the man that Luke had assumed was Raina's brother made his way over.

Raising an eyebrow as Naveed apparently shooed Ruby off so that he could have a private conversation with Raina's new boyfriend. "Perfect... just perfect. This is what I was trying to avoid before the party got ruined." Luke thought wearily as the other man took a seat.

"Now Luke. If you're going to date my sister you're going to have to take a hell of a lot better care of her."

"If you don't mind my saying... your sister can take care of herself though I'll do what I can." Luke replied quietly, his voice turning serious as he kept his empty eyes staring at the other man, "She's not a little girl... she's a beautiful woman that may accept some help but she surely doesn't require it."

"Hey." came a sharp yet weak grumble from the other side of the room. "I heard that guys." Raina moaned as she tried to open her eyes. Her wounds had been healed but even a healer couldn't re-hydrate her. She'd have to take her time and let the IV do it's thing. "...don't you have some ice to put on that eye Naveed?" she cautioned trying to pull herself up. When she didn't have much luck doing it the same rolly polly doctor from earlier crossed toward her and pushed the button on the bed to make it come up in a sit position. "Thanks."

Over the whir of the mechanics in the bed Raina's eyes darted about. She was tired and sore and knew enough not to move much. "Emmy. Thanks for saving me. I know how much you don't like ice" she said with a smile. "and Ruby..." her eyes drifted to Luke and in a much more intimate way she said his name "Luke." there was a touch of quiver in her voice at the end. "...are you alright?" she was trying as hard as she could not to cry. If she cried she'd be in much more pain shortly after. "I saw what that woman was doing to you and it just made me crazy inside." she let the words hang there for a moment as akward as they felt. "I guess I get that from my brother." her eyes passed to him with a concerned yet annoyed look.

Ruby was awfully sure that Naveed wanted to talk alone o Mr Luke so she figured it would be best to leave the two alone. Besides if anything was wrong her older sister would warn her and just say the world they will out of there faster one could say, one. So when she did eventually get back ahs was surprised to find miss Raina was awake Emd Luke and Naveed in one piece. Ruby scuttled over to Raina’s side of the bed and smiled at the older woman happily, holding a pair of sweat pants at shirt in her hand.

”Here ya go Miss Raina!” Ruby exclaimed, placing the clothes next to her, her ears flat. “How are you feeling? Dont be sad please, you need to be happy miss Raina!”

While Ruby was off taking care of Raina, the wolf girl nodded to Raina’s statement about her being nervous around the cold. That was true, she hated the cold and everything about it. So that’s why she was happy she was in a nice warm room and gradually gaining control of her frozen hand. She waved meekly at Raina, obviously still shaken but not tottaly discouraged.

”Its Fine Raina, just glad you’re alright.” There was a pause and Emerald looked over at the too boys. “Now place nice you too so Raina wont have a heart attack every times she leaves.”

Raina had been worried about him? Bone girl's actions against him and practically driven Raina crazy? Luke was touched but at the same time embarrassed. It was historically the man's job to take care of the woman and yet again here he was showing just how weak he truly was when compared to other mutants.

"I'm fine Raina." Luke replied quietly as he did his best to ignore the tiredness that still tried to overtake his body. Swiveling his head toward the mermaid he offered her a small but still reassuring smile.

Turning his attention over toward Emerald he actually managed a laugh at the young woman's comments. Lifting his right hand up so that the index and middle fingers were straight up in the classic scouting symbol Luke smiled. "Scouts honor." He promised before letting his hand drop rather tiredly back down to the bed.

Ok... so that took care of most of the room but somehow he doubted that the large man sitting beside him would accept those particular comments. "I guess I should introduce myself, since you're Raina's brother." Luke offered, trying to lighten the situation a little, before he once again lifted his hand and offered it to Naveed "I'm Luke Jacobs."

Naveed gave a grumble and resisted the urge to state that his sister should just make him some ice. He made his way across the room past Emmy and grabbed an icepack from a freezer and put it across his now shiner. "It's a war scar Sis." she grinned in his grough way walking back to look down at her. "it makes me look distinguished!" Another toothy smile. He was laying it on thick. He wouldn't pick on her anymore while she looked this bad and probably felt worse. Luke might get a few more jabs out of him but he had to admit to himself (of course no one else) he'd instantly felt respect from Luke's responce.

He wasn't Mr. Shiny but he wasn't a mutant hating cop either. "It's about time you graduated from fear controllers and mutant hating cops." he said softly to his sister so that no one else would hear. "but maybe pick em stronger. Like me." he said to keep his own pride.

He bumbled back over to Luke pulling his hair back as he went. "Naveed." he answered. "Raina and I don't use last names anymore." why would they? banished from their tribe as he saw it. They were in essence nothing but completley just themselves. He wouldn't be tied to a last name. "You took quite a beating. Took the healers a while and you're still not done I don't think." he sat back down next to Luke and out of habit cracked his knuckles and his back.

Naveed wasn't a particularly huge man though in his mind he often represented himself as towering over others. But there was this omnious presence about him that made him seem a heck of a lot bigger. Sure he could try to be funny and nice but it often came across ogerish.

"Emerald!" he impulsivly called out wanting to remain Alpha in the room. "You're cute like your sister." he bellowed. His attempt at being charming. That was Naveed for you. Akward, out of place, and just plain strange.

"And you're not too bad I guess." he added looking Luke over. "I'm glad you're a mutant." he stated matter-o-factly resting his giant forarms on his legs. "So you're blind?" that was an important fact to take notice of since Luke would be one of very few immune to his power.

"I hope everyone's alright. Are they still fighting out there?" she asked no one in particular but turned her attention back to Emerald. "When did you get to the mansion? Were you hurt getting me out? Wasn't much of a birthday party was it..." she frowned closing her eyes. This was supposed to be her birthday. Her party. A time for friends, her family, and the mansion to have a break. It wasn't working out that way. "Why'd they show up anyway?" she asked.

She looked at Ruby. "I appreciate the present you girls gave me"

Now Emerald would have thought that it was a little bit odd that Naveed was calling her cute like her sister, this made her wonder which sister he meant, Sapphire or Ruby but she didn’t, because Naveed was just a wee bit odd anyways. Anyone who blushed at the mention of Sapphire she thought was odd. Her older sister wasn’t exactly the flirting and kind type, the fact that she was being nice to someone else outside of family concerned Em, usually that mean she was planning something. Oh well, it was best she didn’t question it around him to much, if anyone she would ask Sapphire and make sure that the older wasn’t planning on doing anything stupid.

“We watched the group for a little while and the Order thinks we stole their doors. That’s why they are fighting, believe me it was hard enough not to deck that Syn woman considering the fact that last time we met she nearly killed me with that haywire crap.” Emerald growled in irritation, attempting to rub one of her temples in order to try to calm herself.

Ruby looked up at her sister and noticed that the blisters had started forming on her hand as the skin started to defrost, they looked bloody and kind of gross to the young fox girl, but she knew that’s how frost bite worked. She had seen Em with it a few times before when she tried to handle things that were to cold for her. Ruby had become a makeshift nurse for her reckless older sibling, trying to make sure she didn’t get any more scars on her body. The fox girl had a habit of worrying, one she had ever since she was a small child, because she wanted everyone to be happy. She hated it when people were sad or scared and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Emerald was a little shaken and the fact that Miss Raina was very sad.

“I held Emmy back to see if we could help anyone and I’m glad we did because we got to you and Mr Luke before anything bad happened. We have been here for about a half hour, we just got back from mom and dads.” Ruby does ears flattned a little bit when she looked at Raina, really not wanting her to be sad. “Well, people do irrational things when there is a misunderstanding, so hopefully somehow they will stop fighting and figure it out.”

Emerald glanced up at Raina again for a moment, trying not to move her hand to much. She flinched a little when she saw the water darken as some of her blood leaked into it from one of the burst blisters.

”No big deal Raina, you just gave me frostbite.” Emerald smiled at Raina, trying not to show any of the panic she had felt from the cold before she didn’t know how well she was doing because she was still rubbing her arm a little bit, trying to shake off the cold.. She hated the cold with such a passion that the wounds from it hurt twice as much as normal wounds did. “Just stings a little that’s all, you worry about healing first.”
