The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After the attempted robbery involving Rena and their failures to get the young girl and Alex to accept their invitation to the mansion, Arielle and Sam decided to high tail it out of the scene too. Hopping into Sam's ride, they sped off away from the station and decided while they were out to grab some lunch at a local seafood restaurant. Her morning walk had left her a bit hungry and she was all for it.
It wasn't long before the two were seated, looking over the restaurant's menu's. Still, Arielle couldn't help but frown as Rena's last few words before her fleeing continued to replay in her mind...
"If people like her are what inhabit your mansion, i think i would rather rot in my old cage..."
"Little ungrateful brat..." was all Arielle could muttered. She had another choice word for Rena, but opted for brat. She was in public after all. "What did she mean people like me? I am the bomb. She is so lucky I didn't just lose all my common sense and drag her little ass all over that gas station parking lot."
She let out a deep sigh and continued skimming down the menu, ultimately deciding on some garlic crab legs. She folded her menu and looked across to Sam with a smile. While they waited for the waitress to come and take their orders, Arielle decided to strike up a little bit of conversation.
"So, I know I've been living at the mansion for a few days now and we've partied together, but I still don't know anything much about you. My first day you interviewed me, so now it's your turn. Tell me about yourself, frosty. Your hobbies, your likes, your dislikes, your beliefs and attitude on life, all that good stuff. I can't be a good friend if I don't know anything about ya" she spoke with a small laugh. She figured this way, she could get to know Sam better and ease him into the topic she really wanted to discuss. The rumors she had heard of those who have sworn to protect the world full of people who fear and hate them...

Sam could tell Arielle was upset about the situation that just conspired. “Not a whole lot we could do, not everyone is ready for the help that the mansion has to offer.” Sam lifted his nose slightly as he smelled the fresh cooking of seafood. Shrimp, lobster and salmon, where the three things that were the most potent scent he was picking up and it was a good thing to, that was the combo meal he ordered.
Smiling slightly at Arielle’s continued confusion Sam just said, “Despite the fact that you would drag her but up and down the parking lot what then?” Sam asked curiously, “Wouldn’t do much good in convincing her to come with us. Would it?” Sam’s question was a rhetorical one for he already knew the answer. Even if she were dragged to the mansion the little girl would put up a fight there or just runaway. It saddened Sam but there wasn’t much he could do to change the little girls mind.
After placing his order Sam looked back to Arielle with a quizzical look on his face, ‘why so interested’ wondered Sam as he looked at the table for a second then said, “There are some parts of my life that I choose not to talk about so before I answer your questions I want you to know it’s nothing personal.” Sam neglected to tell her that no one at the mansion knew of his past the only other person that knew about it was Sara. Sam was just lucky enough she didn’t decided to blurt it out to everyone she met.
Thinking to himself then out loud Sam said, “Hobbies…. anything that puts a mental or physical strain on myself I love to be challenged…” Sam paused and took a sip from his water then looked back to Arielle, “Love swimming….don’t really have that many dislikes….mimes are probably the only thing I hate, they are just creepy.” Giving a small smile Sam took another sip of his water and then said, “Beliefs? I got a few but why the sudden interest in me?”
Cracking a large grin Sam then said, “This isn’t a date is it?” he had a sudden déjà vu from before when he first met Arielle her flicking water that was actually her self at Sam’s chest and her saying she wanted him to be her first. Sam suddenly felt a bit awkward in the situation hoping it wasn’t a date seeing as his choice for dates would be Leila every time.
“There are some parts of my life that I choose not to talk about so before I answer your questions I want you to know it’s nothing personal.”
Arielle nodded. "I respect that..." though she couldn't help but wonder what they were. What could he be hiding? He seemed like a genuine guy to her. "I wouldn't expect you to tell me everything now anyway. I mean, we've only known each other a couple of days. Hopefully in time, maybe you'll trust me with more. I'm not the type of person to judge a person by their past or anything. We've all done things that we regret. As learn from those mistakes and try to better ourselves, that's all that really matters." she spoke and listened as Sam went on.
"Ah, swimming. I knew we had something in common," she smiled as he listed his hobbies. "I see we have a pool at the mansion. I plan to put it to good use when the weather here warms up." she smiled, and then there was this...
“This isn’t a date is it?”
Arielle blinked at Sam's question and couldn't help but crack up. "Oh, god..." she cried in between her laughs. "You thought this was a date? Oh, silly snow man. I'm flattered, but no. This is not a date. Why would you think so?" she asked and thought about the situation. A man and woman sitting at restaurant talking about themselves. Arielle let out a sigh and looked back to Sam.
"Ok, I could see why you would think it. We're here on friendly terms Sammy boy. I think that a guy and a girl can hang out and eat at nice places without it having to be a date. And I take interest in all my friends. Male and female." she smiled.
"The reason I asked about your beliefs Sam, is because from what I've seen today, you seem to be selfless and you're willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs one. I know you're a mutants who use their powers to protect and do good, rather than abuse your abilities and use them for malevolent intentions. I'm the same way. I have gifts, and I like to use them to help those who need it. I mean, back at home, I played hero a few times by stopping robbers, and trouble making punks, but I want to do much greater good. When I heard about the Institute, I also heard rumors about a group of mutants who do just what we do. They use their powers to protect human and mutant kind. To keep peace in the world. I also here that the Mansion is their base of operations and since you seem to be on the staff, I know you have some knowledge about it..." she paused to take a sip of her water and leaned in across the table closer to Sam, lowering her voice. A smirk came across her lips.

Knowing full well it wasn’t a date Sam just smiled and nodded. He did get the feeling that sense she met Leila, Arielle’s aggressiveness with him had faded greatly. A fact he was all too proud of. As of right now he would rather have a friend than a girl causing problems for him and Leila.
Sam nodded to her next comments. “I do good things with my powers is because I can and should. I have power and therefore I should use t to help who ever I can.” Sam paused and took a sip from his water again and then dove back into the conversation, “Yea there are others out there like us and then there are others that do the exact opposite that we do.” Sam bit his lower lip slightly and looked around making sure they weren’t over heard by anyone.
Sam had become rather paranoid when it came about talking about the X-men and the orders fights. Never could tell who was a mutant or not. A small reason was all someone needed to fight the X-men. The order had willingly tramped the grounds for little to no good reason what so ever. Sam thought it was a bit ironic that they were all for mutant rights and protecting each other but turned on a school that guaranteed the safety of mutants.
The order and the Sanctuary quickly lost all respect from Sam, ‘nothing but a bunch of tugs’ thought Sam. As he took another sip of his water and exhaled calming himself.
Now smiling Sam looked up at Arielle and asked, “You want to be an X-man?” Sam had just been added on the actual roster of being an X-men and now longer a trainee, but of course didn’t say anything about it. “Why do you want to join the X-men? You can just as easily do what you and I do now right?” asked Sam curious to see what her answer would be.
"Why do I want to be an X-man?" Arielle repeated to herself, pondering on the answer. Sam had a point. She could easily work solo and fight the injustices of the world, but that was the problem. There wasn't much she could do by herself. And that thought became the foundation of her answer as she replied to Sam.
"I want to join, because I want to aid them in their mission. There's only so much I can do by myself, but working with a team, I can do something. I mean, I know there are far more powerful mutants out there, stronger than me. I mean, there is one sitting in front of me. Once zap of your powers and I'm a human ice cube," she laughed.
"There's also that feeling of wanting to belong. I mean, I have a family, but since discovering my powers, I'm not as close to them as I used to be. My parents acted like they were supportive, but deep down I know that they're loathing over the fact that their little girl is a freak of nature. Being at the mansion and meeting people like you, Leila, and Nathan, people who are like me, it's already made me feel a lot more comfortable about what I am. To know that I'm not an abomination, that I just have gifts that other humans do not. That's also a message the X-men want to spread isn't it? To let the world know that besides having unique abilities, homo superiors are no different than homo sapiens and that there isn't any reason to fear us. So, I guess that's why I want to join. To help keep peace, and to have a team and a potential family who accepts me for all that I am. Like you have." Arielle concluded just in time as the server had brought them their meal.
Arielle let out a small squeal as the aroma of her garlic crab legs and coconut shrimp hit her nostrils. "Smells delicious," she remarked and dug in to her meal, waiting for Sam's reaction. Hopefully after speaking sincerely from her heart, it would be the answer he was looking for.

Staring at Arielle Sam blinked with his mouth closed, ‘Pretty good answer’ thought Sam as he had a look on his face like he was deep in thought. The food arrived and it did smell great but Sam waited to dig in he was to focused on the conversation at hand to eat. Folding his hands under his chin Sam said, “That’s something of a text book answer but, I know how you feel.”
Reaching down and popping some of his breaded shrimp into his mouth chewing and then taking a sip from his water Sam smiled and said, “The X-men not only do that but try to find a middle ground between the mutants,” Sam pointed to himself then Arielle, “us and the humans.”
Sam had no hard feelings towards the humans as a whole, sure there was your rotten ones just like in the mutant population. Just because there is a bad apple in the barrel doesn't mean that all the apples have gone bad.
Looking down and taking a bite of his lobster Sam swallowed then said, “But if your serious I’ll talk to a few people and see if we can get you some training wheels, got to learn how to walk before you can run right?” Sam didn’t need to do much talking sense he was one of the members of the team but he needed another person on the team agree during the training that would be conducted.
"I'm as serious as a heart attack," Arielle replied. "It's just...I know I'm young, but I still don't know what my purpose is. I mean, what I'm meant to do. I figure, god, Allah, Buddha, whoever or whatever is the creator of all things gave me these powers for some reason. And what better reason to have powers like ours than to use them for the greater good of human and mutant kind?" she spoke and nodded as Sam explained that he'd have to talk to some others before she could begin her training.
"I understand. Whatever the decision is, I will respect it. Just know that I'm willing to do whatever it takes, even is it means risking a limb or my life. I just need to have a good reason and purpose for existing." she said. "If I don't get accepted, I'm sure I can always try and join the Avengers." she laughed and then remembered Sam's expression after she had given her answer.
"Yes, there is more to me than going all wild at parties and chasing after hunks. I have my morals too. Lord knows I don't want to end up like some of those other girls I went to school with. The only thing they were good at was laying on their backs and being gold diggers. I have better things to do with my life. Hopefully, being an X-man will be the fulfillment I've been looking for." she paused to think for a second. "I'll be an X-woman I mean. I don't have a piece of meat sitting between my legs." she laughed.

Sam nodded after finishing half of his lobster in a large bite, “Well, you can’t just join there is training team work sessions things like that, not to mention Danger Room sessions.” Sam paused and took a sip of water then quickly added, “From, what I am told.” The fact that he was misleading her didn’t sit right with Sam but he couldn’t tell her that much anyways, after all he had only been a part of the X-men for a few weeks.
Laughing at her comment Sam wondered how she could put her powers to use with a comical personality like hers. Odds were she would be the female version of him. Making jokes and bad puns during a fight or not taking a dangerous situation as dangerous as he should.
In minutes Sam finished most of his food and then looked to Arielle and asked, “Anything else you want to talk about?”
"No. I think that's all..." Arielle said, as she was close to finishing her meal as well. "That girl at the gas station pissed me off, but after sitting here and eating, I feel way better. This was a nice turn around for the way this day was seem to be going," she smiled as the check was brought to their table.
"Oh, Sam you're so sweet for paying my portion of the bill. This was just a lovely date wasn't it?" she laughed evilly. "You didn't think I'd let you slip without one did you? Haha! I'm done though. You're all Leila's." she smiled and began to sing
"Sammy the snowman, thought that he could get away... But I tricked him on a little date, and food bill he shall pay..." she sang to the tune of Frosty the Snowman and laughed a bit more. "I hope you like jokes, cause like bugs bunny, I'm just a stinker." she smiled innocently.

Sam nodded ”like I said, don’t sweat it, we can only help the ones that want help.” Sam smiled and looked at his portion of the check and pulled out the right amount of money. He put some money on the table frowned and pulled out some more money paying for Arielles half, “One time thing only. I only pay for my dates and right now I don’t think mine would be to happy if this was a legit date.”
He cracked a smile and put the rest on the table. Got up and walked after her, “Careful I might have to put you on ice you waskly wabbit!” Sam joked back.
