The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Crimefighter & Cat Turned Consultant (Werecat)
Sara was silent as she took in the information Luke was telling her. She could keep a secret, in this case. Majority share holder or not, Sara still didn’t get why he just let Oliver brow beat him about matters that were already taken care of. Sort of the way she acted and he still gave her this job. She didn’t get what he saw there, that it was worth spending more time with her. Though she was thankful for it. She’d taken a long while to think on this, and had come to the thankful conclusion.
“At least Raina and I can keep a secret.” She replied to the information that not many knew Luke could pull the rug out from under people, if he wanted to. “I still don’t fully understand you Luke.”
Sara realized she misunderstood the report thing, and her nose darkened slightly. At least Luke couldn’t see that. She leaned back in the chair, letting the seat rotate to the right, then to the left as they continued. “Friday is as good of day, as any.” Her tail flicked and tapped the foot of her chair now and then. I know I asked this about today, but is there anything I need to bring? Maybe my tool kit? Pen notepad?” Mickey mouse?
She quietly wondered how long Friday would last. Hopefully not too far into Saturday. Jobs were nice and all, but one, time with Luke on a Saturday, as much as she had no quoms about stealing from him, and bothering him, Saturday was a date night. By holding Luke up, even if her pay would increase, she’d be stealing from two other, much more important people. Raina and Ayesac.

"I'm really not that hard to figure out Sara." Luke said quietly in response to Sara's statement, "To paraphrase how some people have so eloquently described me, I'm just to damn nice."
Luke didn't like being forced to just take whatever abuse Oliver decided to dish out but he had to think about the employees of the company. If the general public found out that a mutant was the majority share holder than they might be less likely to purchase security systems from the company meaning that it might be necessary to lay off some of the employees. That was absolutely the last thing Luke wanted to happen so as long as he could he would prevent even the threat of that happening by remaining in the background.
"As for what you should bring on Friday, I suggest you bring whatever equipment you think you might need in trying to get past the security system." Luke replied as he turned to the computer and pressed a button on the front to activate the machine.
"Pull up address for test house. Print." Luke commanded and in just a few seconds, he grabbed a piece of paper from regular printer and handed it over to Sara. "Feel free to check out the site ahead of time. Treat this as if it were a house you were truly planning to burlgarize. I'll meet you there on Friday at say... 7:30? That should make it after dark but still leave plenty of time for both of us to get back to our prospective homes at a decent hour."
"To paraphrase how some people have so eloquently described me, I'm just to damn nice."
“I get that.” Sara crossed her arms. “That doesn’t mean I understand you.” Part of it was a tease, and part of it was a fact. There’s being nice for a reason and then there was just letting people walk on you. Two days ago, there was about one minute that Luke was acting the way Sara expected he should be acting, and her sense of hearing would never forget that moment. His sonar really blasted her hearing.
Sara couldn’t help but lean forward as Luke turned on the computer. Her head tilted to the side and her ears flicked back and forth as he commanded the computer by voice. “Cool.” She mumbled when the printer hummed into life. Luke handed her the paper and she skimmed over it to memorize the address.

“Of course.”

“Sounds good to me.” Sara took a moment to remember the time then glanced back at the address to memorize that. It’s the test house. They would probably be using it again…
“Almost forgot, I have a cell phone now.” Her cell phone wasn’t nearly as interesting as Luke’s and it didn’t play flight of the valcury, but it did vibrate, and it did have a snake game on it. “I’m guessing you would want the number.”

(OOC: Sorry about the short reply... my mind was drawing a blank on where else to go with it.)
Sara still didn't understand... well maybe that was because Luke didn't completely understand himself either. He could fight criminals, face down bone girls, and throw himself into danger but yet he still held back from returning anger for anger.
“Almost forgot, I have a cell phone now. I’m guessing you would want the number.”
"Only if you want me to have it." Luke replied with a slight smile as he turned his attention back towards Were, "If you don't, that's fine. I can always drop a note off at the restaurant when I need to get in contact with you. Dressed as Luke of course. In fact your friend might like hearing that you have a job that'll help keep you away from gangs."
“well that would destroy the point of my having gotten the phone.” Sara shrugged. “as legit as I could too.” Johnny had bought it with stolen cash Sara had given him. That was as legit as Sara could get. “Besides. If I don’t want to hear from you on the phone, all I have to do his hang up and turn off the phone. If I don’t want to hear from you by note, there’s all that energy wasted in tearing up the note, and then explaining to those watching why I’m tearing the note up.”
In fact your friend might like hearing that you have a job that'll help keep you away from gangs."
“If only that were really true Luke.” Sara said. There was a small smile on her face but her voice was serious. “Fur is murder and when you walk around with a coat of fur, the way I do, you draw unwanted attention. The only difference for me, is the red marks I get aren’t from red spray paint. The only way I get away from the gangs is if I leave the city again, and I’m not the type of person to turn around and run like that.”
She took out her phone and started sending dialing Luke’s cell. “I’ll call you so my number is just audimatically on your phone’s memory.” She said before continuing. “I didn’t pick a fight with that gang. I don’t associate myself with any groups but because of the way I am, I will always draw unwanted attention. That’s just the way the world works. To be honest, I feel lucky to be accepted here, even by your uncle Oliver, and even if I have to be counted as a mechine part, to get paid.”

"I never thought you did anything to antagonize those scum." Luke replied quietly as his own phone began to ring. Pulling it out he pressed a button and then stated very clearly, 'Sara'. Moments later the phone was back in his pocket.
"I've dealt with that gang before and other people like them. They're the same type that formed the Klu Klux Clan back around slavery. People are afraid of what seems different and while most will try to accept and adapt, a few choose to respond with violence."
It felt strange to Luke just how easily those words rolled off his tongue. He had not really spent much time talking to other people about it but he had mentally lectured himself on his own beliefs. Maybe that was why he tried to keep his temper in check so often. Some people were able to be angry without being violent but many others put the two together without the slightest hesitation.
"Look Sara," Luke continued, his voice still quiet and no less serious, "I know we've gotten off on the wrong foot with our friendship in more ways than one, but if you ever need help out there give me a call. I'm more than willing to watch your back if you need somebody. OK?"
Sara shrugged. She was trying to be indifferent to what Luke was saying, but the fact was, she couldn’t. She was stuck in the middle no matter what she did. “history is just bound to repeat it’s self.” Who knows how many times it already had.
Sara was starting to get that itch again that was telling her it was time to go. If not now, go soon. She fiddled with her hat, that had somehow found it’s way to her lap, when she sat down.
“Thank you, Luke.” The words were coming out a little more stiff sounding than Sara actually intended but the offer of help and the thought of having it were just odd to her. She was so use to doing things herself. “You’ve said that at least once before. No offence, but help isn’t really something I’m use to.”

"Well since I've said it several times I guess I'll quit repeating myself." Luke replied as the slightest ghost of a smile appeared on his face. "I wouldn't want to come across as annoying or pushy or something."
Luke had gone it alone for so long that he understood where Sara was coming from but at the same time his own view of things was beginning to change. Being part of a team forced a person to depend on others and while for some people that was a hard thing to do it actually allowed you to have more freedom and safety than trying to go it alone.
"But remember the offer's always on the table Sara and sometimes you can't do everything by yourself." The last bit was spoken gently as Luke tried to make sure that he didn't come across as judgmental but instead tried to gently nudge Sara in the right direction.
"I wouldn't want to come across as annoying or pushy or something."
“Oh sure you are.” Sara said. This time things were a bit more light in her voice. Again she reminded herself that she wanted to trust Luke. Just the fact that he was so trust worthy put up red flags everywhere in Sara’s head.
“It’s not that I can’t work in a team. I can. I just choose not to.” She stood up and pushed her chair back in the place it was when she entered the room. She had worked in a team before, just she knew her own abilities, and Sara knew she could trust in herself. Also, because of this, the more Sara was pushed in one dirrection or felt she was pushed, the more she went the other way. Call it a cat thing.

Rising back up to his feet Luke nodded in agreement with Sara. "Sure does sound like it." He said with a smile. "So I guess I'll see you Friday at 7:30. You've got my number so call me if we need to reschedule for any reason."
He was going to be working with the woman that had interrupted a very intimate moment between himself and Raina. Did irony never cease? Maybe Luke was a little to nice... maybe he needed to come across a little more hard but the real question was whether he could do that and still remain himself.
"So many things to think about... so many things."
I want to like you like, don’t cross me. Sara thought to her self as she stood up and adjusted the fedora back on her head. Then proceeded to straighten the collar of her new coat. New because her old coat had sort of spontaneously combusted when a merged Tarin had tried to turn her into a BBQed kitty.
“yes Friday. 7:30” Sara repeated to herself. More than to Luke, nodding her head. She was going to be working with the man who could possibly be her even more possibly best friends, boy friend, and she already walked in on them after her possibly best friend had finished turning back from a mermaid, witch was coad for something else, but that story sounded so much nicer.
Life was a soap opera.
Sara gave Luke a slight bow, before she opened the door. “Until then watch your back. Hopefuly the weather on Friday, will be pleasant.” Sara didn’t know if she could do another sleep over.

Luke chuckled softly and nodded, "Hopefully. It would be more realistic that way anyhow. Most burglars don't go out when the weather is nasty."
Walking around the table the blind man laid a hand on his own coat and then paused as he turned his face back around toward Sara. "Um... would you like me to walk you out or do you want to find your own way?"
"Hopefully. It would be more realistic that way anyhow. Most burglars don't go out when the weather is nasty."
Sara shrugged. “Most don’t. I’m known to.” By those that know Sara’s style. “Though depending on the wind, it does make things more interesting.” Especially when people are home. Who doesn’t love a challenge. “Then again, I’m not like most criminals.” I’m all of a sudden working for a crime fighter to make this burglary stuff harder. Sara thought to herself. Can you say Oxymoron?
"Um... would you like me to walk you out or do you want to find your own way?"
Sara shrugged, though she forget Luke probably didn’t see that unless his sonar was extended to her. “It’s your building. A big building that is your building.”

"Since it's such a big building I wouldn't want you getting lost then, would I." Luke replied with a slight grin as he walked over to the office door and opened it. He didn't bother grabbing his coat since he'd have to come back in here and write up that report for his Uncle. Oh well, such were the trials and tribulations of a man that worked with family.
"Would you rather go out the way we came or go out the main entrance?" He asked somewhat curiously as he began to walk down the hallway toward both the express elevator and the normal bank of elevators. He was not going to be the one to assume what Sara would want to do so it was always best to ask. Plus he didn't want her to think that he minded her being seen by anyone. If she wanted to slip out secretly it would be for her own peace of mind, not his.
