The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Dreary."
Clouds covered the sky and what had started out as a light rain shower was slowly turning into a light snow flurry. While the drivers of New York didn't seem to care about the bad conditions, it had still resulted in several more accident than usual as people slid across ice that was newly forming.
"Cold."
Luke Jacobs stood outside of the Jacobs & Jacobs office building, awaiting the arrival of the person that would be their newest... sub-contractor. Not really an employee as she would only be working on the occasional jobs, a consultant still made good money when the opportunity was there.
Wrapped tightly in a long charcoal gray coat, the blind man did his best to ignore the conditions. On one positive note, weather like this always helped to cut the crime rate. Unless someone was exceptionally desperate they weren't going to venture out in weather like this. Thankfully that had meant that he could make it to bed a little earlier the night before and so that meant he was early for meeting the new consultant at the office.
"Gotta love New York." He thought with an inward chuckle as he shook his head, dislodging the few snow flakes that were tenaciously trying to remain in his black hair. For now his sonar was kept in tight, only about six to seven feet out from his body. Whenever she wanted to reveal herself that was fine but he wasn't going to blast her for no reason. Two nights before there had been reason... today there wasn't.
"Please get here early Sara... I don't want to stand out here much longer!"
The lack of sleep the night before, Allowed Sara to force her body to sleep earlier than it normally did. So waking up this morning, was her being bright eyed and bushy tailed. As bright eyed and bushy tailed as she could be... She was awake. that was good enough. She was still rubbing the sleep out of her eyes when she walked out of the alley way, and rounded the corner, to Luke's office building. As Sara felt herself enter Luke's sonr range she openned her mouth wide and lot out a low yawn. Looking like something you would find on a safari, rather than someone coming to a business meeting. Thank the weather for the fact there was hardly anyone on the street. "Mornin'."
She cleared her throat, and tilted her head at the not so blind man. She'd done her best to dress her best she had her top that made her look the sleekest. The way the faberic hung, and her leather pants. opting for those because the blue jeans had holes everywhere. Her coat was new, and this one as a long trench coat, that moved lightly around her ankles and tail, at the bottom, and she topped off the look, with the hat, Johnny had given her. The fedora.

"Morning." Luke replied as soon as Sara's voice touched his ears. As she stepped into the sonar the blind man had to keep himself from making any type of expression as to her wardrobe. Who in their right mind went to a job dressed like that?
"Nice outfit." He said, doing his level best to keep a straight face and even voice, "Kind of like Dick Tracy or something."
Turning to walk towards the building the blind man slowly moved his cane back and forth just like any normal person. Maybe someday he'd unveil his secret to the world but for now it was better to just blend in with everyone.
"Still interested in being called the cat scan?" Luke asked, a slight smile spreading on his face as they approached the doors, "We can easily change it to something else if you'd rather not."
“I’d think you would be the last person on earth to know, or be able to recognize the great style of Dick Tracy. At least I’m not in the bright yellow.” She informed him rather matter of factly. Note to self. Never take fashion advice from a 16 year old boy. She ducked her head against the wind. Waiting to remove the hat, till the moment they stepped inside. If it wasn’t for her old coat and sweatshirt going up in flames, a few days ago, Sara would have warn a hood. The new coat just didn’t have one. “How could you even begin to compare me to Dick Tracy, anyways. I’m way hotter in this.”
It was sort of funny. Two nights ago, Sara had the goal of scaring Luke. Maybe even scaring him away. Now she wasn’t fully threatening him, but she had threats that still stood, she had the ability to get into Luke’s apartment, thanks to Mickey Mouse, and she knew she was physically stronger than him. She knew she should behave because Raina was happy with the man, but the word should, was so close to the sounding of the word would. The early morning, before, had just been so confusing. Sara still couldn’t fathom how she ended up with a job. Her first job that was for a legit company. (Heists for non legit companies didn’t count.) If it wasn’t for Raina’s presents, her a Luke probably would have tested each other, shrieked at each other, smacked each other, instead of everything else that happened.
“Unless you can think of something better, I’m fine going under the cat scan name.” As Luke was working at unlocking the door, a particularly harsh wind kicked up. Without thinking, Sara did was she automatically did around company. She moved her body to block it. Mentally cursing at herself when she did. The hem of her coat fluttered against her legs and the shoulders of the fabric pressed against her upper body. “Doesn’t mean anything.” She whispered to herself.
“Amazing how fast the weather can change. Huh…” She said a bit louder than her whisper. “Is this the only office?”

Luke chuckled ever so slightly as he unlocked the side entrace door. It was actually rather rare that he used this entrance, normally walking through the lobby along with all of the other employees but he was pretty sure that Sara would want to stay out of the spotlight as long as possible.
"I'm afraid I've probably given you the wrong perceptions... Jacobs & Jacobs doesn't just rent a floor of this building," Luke said as he waved a hand towards the 21 story building before finally unlocking the door and holding it open for Sara to walk in, "We own the whole thing. Along with instalations we handle system monitoring and even some personal security when the situation warants it."
Once they were inside the pair walked along a hallway towards a single express elevator that was reserved for staff and company officers.
"Most of our installs happen here in new York but some happen over seas. I'll be flying to Paris next weekend for an install there. Probably be out of town for three to four days I'm guessing."
What Sara didn't need to know was that Raina was supposed to be going with him. After the situation with the photogrophers the previous day Luke was looking forward to being someplace where neither he nor Raina was famous and where neither of them had friends to interupt whatever might happen. He was pretty sure that she was going to keep the trip quiet so as long as he did the same, it shouldn't cause any problems with the kitty cat... at least not until they got back.
"Your jobs would all be in New York City though so you won't have to worry about any traveling. Sound OK so far?"
Luke was correct in his assumption that Sara preferred the side entrance. While learning her way around the office was a good idea, for now she was quite content learning the not so used routs. Luke already blamed her for the possible destruction of his business’s name, that was her fault. She didn’t need him blaming her for things she just couldn’t help. People saw her and that was her first impression. Her looks. That’s all most went by.
"I'm afraid I've probably given you the wrong perceptions... Jacobs & Jacobs doesn't just rent a floor of this building, We own the whole thing.
The funny thing is Sara half way expected that. Though she did let herself raise an eye brow. He was one of the owners of a business that could write her services off as a sort of divice, or a separate contractor and not worry about people catching onto that detail. Not to mention the 100 per hour of her service. Once a year, Sara could understand a small time business handling, but Luke had said that there was a possibility of up to 50 calls a year. Just a possibility, but still. The business had to be big. “Not completely surprising.” Sara said softly
Along with instalations we handle system monitoring and even some personal security when the situation warants it."
“Ayesac and I have done security before.” Just in case he would want to know that. It was ages ago that they were hired, and normally when they were together, one had to be a sort of security for the other. Was nice having someone watch your back in the city.
"Most of our installs happen here in new York but some happen over seas. I'll be flying to Paris next weekend for an install there. Probably be out of town for three to four days I'm guessing."
Again Sara raised an eye brow. Did Raina know? Paris was just begging for romance. The feline opened her mouth to say something smart… then immediately closed it, holding her tongue was in her best interest at the moment.
"Your jobs would all be in New York City though so you won't have to worry about any traveling. Sound OK so far?"
“Probably a good thing. I’m not exactly the worlds best passenger when it comes to traveling.” Sara side stepped so she could lean against the frame of the door. “It sounds good so far, but I still don’t fully understand how my services will be used. Will this just be for inspecting homes? Will you want me to test out different divises? Or will you just give me a scenario on paper and see what I come up with?”

"To be honest it'll probably be a little bit of everything." Luke responded as he folded up his cane and stowed it in the pocket of his coat just a moment before the elevator doors opened.
"We've got a house where we set up our newest devices to have field tested. Part of your work will be to run through those field tests to give us an idea on exactly what their strengths and weaknesses may be."
Stepping into the elevator Luke waited for Sara to join him and then punched the button to take him up to the 10th floor. It wasn't that long ago he had been in one of the largest offices on the 21st floor because of his title as CFO but ever since the registration act he had been forced to keep more of a back seat in the business. Thankfully none of the scandal papers had been able to dig up the paperwork that proved he was a mutant but really it was only a matter of time. But until the day he either chose or was forced into making a public statement Luke was able to simply enjoy his 10th floor office and the slight bit of anonymity it provided.
"Whenever one of our systems is penetrated we bring in a consultant to look over the system to see if we can figure out exactly how the intruder got in and how we can keep them from doing the same thing again." Luke continued to explain as the doors closed and the car began to move smoothly upward, "That's always the hardest. Having to revisit a system that we were sure was secure because of our earlier tests but that somehow was beaten. That's probably the biggest reason we have consultants to look over things because they come in with a different thought process than those of us that have been in the security business for some time."
As the doors opened Luke stepped out and immediately turned to the left, making his way toward the rather non-descript office that he was able to claim as his own.
"Luke!" A man's voice suddenly rang out from the opposite direction.
"Just what I needed." Luke muttered to himself as he turned back around to face the approaching man. Standing at about 5'9" with salt and pepper hair that formed a ring around his head with nothing on top, the man look every inch a businessman. From his highly polished black dress shoes to his charcoal gray suit, white dress shirt, and burgundy tie. Though he might not have seemed imposing on the street due to his average build and slight gut, the man was a force to be reckoned with in the board room.
"Good morning Uncle Oliver. Strange to see you on this floor." Luke said, in as pleasant a voice as he could manage though it would be very plain to Sara that he didn't like his Uncle very much.
"Did you get those travel arrangements to Paris made?" Oliver demanded, currently ignoring Luke's companion and the pleasantries that Luke had tried to offer, "The customer specifically requested you, though I have no idea why and we could lose a very big sale if you're not there!"
Why did it seem as though trouble always found him when Sara was nearby? Was it just something to do with Luke or was it something to do with Sara?
The elevator doors slid open and Sara pushed off of the wall, she was leaning on. She stood for a minute just outside the enclosure that was going to be moving them, looking inside. Hesitating. Once she found out where Luke’s office was, she made a mental note to have him meet her up there, and open a window for her, or something. If he had window. Would a blind man know if he didn’t have windows?
Sara’s tail gave a violent flick. Right, left right, and her left ear twitched. The elevator ride would last just for a minute, she told herself. She breathed in deep, did some mental knuckle cracking, and joined Luke inside, where she leaned against the corner, with her head staring directly at her feet. She glanced up long enough to see the button Luke pushed, and her gaze snapped right back down as she focused on counting the hairs along the edge of her toes. Most of what Luke had to say made it to Sara’s train of thought. “So as a consultant, the better instructions, and tips I give, the less I get called back.” There was a little bit of shake to her voice as the elevator came to a halt and she practically jumped out, the minute the doors were wide enough she could squeeze through.
In the hall, she straightened back up. Running her fingers through her hair. She realized she hadn’t inhaled air, and as Luke walked past, turning towards his office, Sara reminded herself she could breathe. She slowly slid into being her cool, cat self. As cool as she could be. Mean while another character came onto the scene.
"Just what I needed."
She brought her hand up between her face and her head, pretending to scratch under her bangs, so as to block the view of her face, as she stepped to the other side of Luke and stooped a little. “Bad?” Sara asked with her voice too low for anyone else to hear?
The uncle Oliver he held himself, Sara was quite comfortable to try and slip into the shadows behind Luke. She sensed her new bosses pulse, increase, and she recognized when a few of Luke’s buttons were being pushed. Luke’s buttons being more recognizable to her, seeing as she seemed to push a few, herself. Had she been the normal office secretary type, she might of liked Oliver.
For now she just watched the show. Trying her best not to be a part of it.

"I'm going to be there Oliver." Luke replied quietly but firmly as he continued to do his best to keep his temper reined in. "I'm not going to lose the sale and you'll make all the profits you always worry about."
"You better not or I'll have to dock your salary!" Oliver snapped back before turning his gaze towards the person hiding behind Luke. For a moment the man's eyes narrowed as he tried to see her features through the shadows her fedora was providing as cover.
"Who's your friend? Not another good will case is it?" The man rambled on, still in rather a bad mood, "I heard about that woman you conneced Miss Langstan into hiring. You should be ashamed of yourself, taking advantage of the company this way. What would your father think?!"
Putting his arms behind his back, Luke tightly clenched his left wrist in his right hand, squeezing firmly to release at least a little of his frustration. Each time his Uncle did this he wanted so badly to tell him that he was fired because Luke was the majority shareholder but somehow he held his tongue. The day would come when he would remove Oliver from his CEO position but right now the company needed Oliver where he was and Luke where he was.
"No, this si not a good will hiring. This is a new consultant for testing our security systems. Sara is an expert and will help to better our products so we can make more profit." Luke said slowly, thinking carefully about each word as he forced himself not yell at Oliver.
"More profits eh? Well nice to meet you then Sara." Oliver said as he held out a hand towards the woman, "Anyone and anything that can increase our bottom line is a welcome addition to the team."
Sara stood in the back ground as much as she could until she was addressed. Wow. And she was being called a woman. A Woman Not that things, not the fur ball, and not the nickname she had been given in the camps, by a few close individuals, Were. There was a mix of feelings there. Though she was sure that the name, Woman, wouldn’t stick.
Before Sara knew it, there came the moment of truth. The hand shake. She’d been hiding behind Luke, and had doubt that her features had actually been noticed. So this would be the real test. Sara subtly started taking note, of the sound of Oliver’s heart beat. Would he be as tolerant to her as Luke?
Sara removed her hat with her left hand, and took Oliver’s hand in her right. “The pleasure is all mine, Sir.”

"Oh... a pleasure I'm sure." Oliver answers, his gaze only flickering slightly as his heartbeat increased just a touch when Sara unveiled herself. His heartbeat maintained its only slightly elevated beat as he continued to speak. Perhaps just from shock and nervousness or perhaps from something else. "I see why your services are so important. I'm sure you can offer skills that none of our other consultants can offer."
"In fact... I think our test house is set up with some of our newest technology." Oliver continued as he turned his attention back to Luke, "Perhaps a trial run would be in order."
"I'd feel obligated to pay her for her time. Are you sure you can stand the expense?" Luke spoke up, apparently going for the weak spot in his uncle armor.
"Of course we can handle the expense. It's better to prove her a bad asset now than down the road when a customer is at stake." The other man brushed off the question without the slightest hesitation, apparently now ignoring Luke as he turned his gaze back to Sara. "Do you work alone or do you have some associates with skills equal to your own? Anyone that works with you will of course receive the same pay rate that my nephew has already promised you."
The small increase in the Oliver's heart beat, wasn't too surprising to Sara. She got that a lot. It was surprising that he took her appearance so well No screaming of yelling about calling the police.
"Perhaps a trial run would be in order."
"I'd be up for that." There was confidence in her all of a sudden. Now that the initial unveiling of what she looked like was out of the way, Sara was back to her confident self. Standing tall rather than stooping like she often did in crowds.
"I'd feel obligated to pay her for her time. Are you sure you can stand the expense?"
"Trying to talk him into hating my presence in the company already Luke?" She gave him a nudge with her elbow. Softly of course. At first Oliver's gruffness towards Luke had her nervous, but she was slowly starting to warm up to him. A rare things for her to do. Maybe it was his reaction to what she looked like. After all. It was why she wanted to trust Luke. He hadn't given a big reaction when he learned how different she was. He even told her he had an advantage that way, being blind. Again, She wanted to trust Luke.
"In this matter I work alone." She assured Oliver. There was Ayesac that she worked with, but she tended to only work with her love, when it came to guarding something, or watching each others' backs.

"I'll follow her through the house to monitor her progress." Luke spoke up almost immediately, "That's how we normally conduct those tests."
"Perfect... put together a report with the date and time and get it on my desk by tomorrow morning at the latest." Oliver replied brusquely as he was already turning to leave. "Goodbye Luke. Goodbye Sara." The last words were spoken with a finality that would have seemed strange coming from anyone else but, coming from Oliver Jacobs they seemed perfectly natural.
For several seconds Luke stood silent, apparently watching his Uncle as the older man walked away. "Oh... right... office is this way." Luke suddenly said, apparently coming out of deep thought as he turned and walked back toward the office where he had previously been leading Sara.
"I'm sorry about that. Oliver is... well to be honest he can be a downright bastard, but he's good at running a business." Luke said as soon as they were inside the office with the door closed. "He makes enemies a whole lot easier than he makes friends."
Luke's office was a small, functional room. A desk took up most of the room with a voice command computer that attached to both a braille and a regular ink jet printer. Two chair were just this side of the desk where anyone visiting would sit but instead of being the normal, straight backed chairs that most people kept in their office because of their low cost, Luke had both of his 'visitor' chairs as the exact same type of executive chair that was on his side of the desk. "You're welcome to have a seat Sara." Luke said as he slipped off his coat and laid it across an empty part of the desk before walking around and taking a seat in his own chair, "Now... let's go ahead and start with any questions you might have. Any concerns or worries?"
Luke would be following her through this? Sara’s eye brows raised but she kept her silence. If that really was how things went. This would be her first time, really having an audience. Light butterflies fluttered in her stomach. She knew she would be working somewhat with Luke, but him having to watch her do her thing? She had told him twice before, how she had gotten into houses, his included, but him actually being there was going to feel… odd… Almost odd enough to compare with the odd feeling she had of herself walking in on him and Raina when rain had, ‘Just turned back from being a fish…’
The good byes were said with Uncle Oliver Jacobs and Sara’s body gave a shiver. Odd because she wasn’t cold and she thought she felt comfortable around the other half of Jacobs and Jacobs. Even though it hadn’t happened before, Sara decided to blame the shiver on Luke’s sonar and the games it played with her.
"Oh... right... office is this way."
Sara stood there, for a few beats, letting Luke take the lead, before she fell into step behind him again. His office felt so sterile that, if it wasn’t for the nice desk and chairs, the room reminded Sara of a large hospital closet she had once found herself inside. At least this room wasn’t as small as the elevator, but the elevator might have had more to look at. “You know, you could also hire me for your interior design, in here, too.”
"I'm sorry about that. Oliver is... well to be honest he can be a downright bastard, but he's good at running a business."
Sara shrugged as she moved off to the side to examine the brail printer. Curiosity getting the better of her there. She’d seen normal printers but never a brail printer, so she was bent at her waits so her eyes were level with where the paper came out to rest, so she could look inside. It was part of what made her a successful thief. The need to know how things worked. “He treated me alright. It was you he seemed to have a problem with.” Sara replied. That fact did catch her as odd, but she let it slide, for the most part. She wasn’t exactly sure how she was supposed to take that fact. “Is that the way he just always is towards you? I thought you were the main owner.”
Sara sighed and finally moved away from the brail printer. She took her seat across the table from Luke. “I suppose one question is when do we begin.” And how long exactly were Sara and Luke going to continue getting along. She was a little surprised they were doing this well after their last meeting, even with Luke offering Sara the job. “He did say he wanted the report by tomorrow.” That probably meant a long day.

Now that was a touchy question and while Luke wasn't sure he really wanted to tell Sara, she already knew half of the story. There was no reason for her not to hear the other half.
"I'm the majority shareholder but not directly. Several shadow companies own the stock and almost no one knows that I can take control whenever I want to. Miss Langstan, the company CFO knows and you and Raina both know, but it's really not common knowledge." Luke said rather slowly as he leaned back in his chair, getting comfortable. "There are some things I don't like about the way my Uncle runs things but so far it hasn't been so bad that I thought I needed to take control. However, the safety valve is there just in case I need it."
“I suppose one question is when do we begin. He did say he wanted the report by tomorrow.” Sara spoke up as she took her own seat.
"Oliver said he wanted a report with a date and time for our test run on his desk tomorrow morning. It'll take a little while to make sure the site is fully set up so I would probably say we can try making the run on Friday. How does that sound?"
In Luke's mind Friday was perfect because it would let him get the test out of the way and still leave time to get together with Raina over the weekend if she was available. It was good to be able to offer Sara a job but he was not going to miss time with Raina for Miss Kitty Cat.
